She's the owner of Rooted BodyWellness.
Okay, there you go, all right.
So, with that being said, ineach episode, listeners, our
(00:22):
guests share practical tips andvaluable advice that can help
you navigate and stay ahead inyour journey.
If you're enjoying this contentand want to learn more, make
sure you like and subscribe tothis video.
Stick around until the end, because Omyra will be sharing a
powerful story about a customerwhose experience truly
(00:44):
highlights the impact of herservices.
So, with that being said,Omayra, take it away If you
could kind of share with ourlisteners a little bit about
your background.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well my background.
I started off as a massagetherapist.
I graduated in 2014 andobtained my license to practice
in the state of Florida shortlyafter.
After working with various spasand chiropractic clinic, I took
my experience and went intobusiness for myself, and I focus
(01:17):
on the holistic side of massage.
People come to me for painrelief, but I like to get to the
root of what's causing the painrelief, and that later led me
to becoming an esthetician, where I work on therapeutic
skincare, and with therapeuticskincare I'm able to create a
(01:39):
more holistic practice where Ican help clients be healthy from
the inside out.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I love that.
You know most people think ofmassage as a way to relax, right
?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
That's correct.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
What are some
surprising health benefits that
people might not know about whenit comes to massage therapy?
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Well beyond
relaxation.
It improves mobility.
Mobility, it reduces scartissue, it supports an injury
recovery and it helps withchronic pain conditions.
And beyond that, it also helpswith emotional issues, because
parasympathetic response helpsmy clients uh bring to the
(02:23):
surface some underlying issuesthat maybe they were not even
aware that they were dealingwith.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
And that's
interesting how you said that
they might not even be awarethat they're dealing with.
But those chronic conditionsover time I'm sure led up to
where they're at now to help, tohave you help them correct.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
And then coming to
visit me helped them uncover
that.
What is one myth that you wishyou could overcome?
That people are set in theirmind about massage therapy?
Is there anything that kind ofstands out?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Well, there are a lot
of myths, but the most common
one, as we're addressing healthand wellness, is that massage
flushes toxins.
That's just a claim.
Your body's already naturallyequipped to do that through your
liver and kidneys.
Massage, however, can helpcirculation, lymphatic flow and
(03:28):
it supports your body overall.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
That's well said.
So, with that being said, forsomeone who's never had a
professional massage, whatshould they expect and how can
they get the most out of gettingyou know, having a massage?
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Well, I would tell my
clients, if it's their first
visit, to come in with an openmind, to let go of any
misconceptions.
They may have learned aboutmassage and along with that, I
would also encourage them toschedule a time in which they
can spare it without rushing, because if a client comes here
(04:12):
and they have a tight schedule, then they're not going to be
able to enjoy the massage asthey would want to.
So they would get the most outof it if they come in with an
open mind and if they don't rushanything.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I like that open mind
.
You know, in every industryright, we have these
preconceived notions of whatthat industry entails, even
though we're not the expert andhave an open mind is really
something that is more powerfulfor them in terms of going
(04:45):
through the process alreadythinking that they know what
they're going to get.
I like that a lot.
Are there any type of warningsigns that your body might be
begging for therapeutic massage?
Anything that that you hear youknow from, from your, your
customers as they come in?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Most clients.
Uh, the warning sign is notalways pain or tension.
It's usually mind fog, beingmentally overwhelmed with
whatever they're dealing with intheir personal life and they're
struggling.
They just feel stuck.
They just can't move forward.
That's already a warning signthat they need to come in for a
(05:28):
massage, because if theydedicate at least an hour of
their day to that self-carewhile they're relaxed, that's
when they can get that mentalclarity they need before that
stress manifests physically intopain.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
So self-care, trying
to eliminate or kind of reduce
the stress, the day-to-daystress that they experience on a
regular basis, correct, that'scorrect.
Awesome.
You know you also have servicesthat involve skin care, and I
want to kind of highlight orjust talk a little bit about
skin care.
What's one common mistake yousee people make every day when
(06:08):
it comes to skin care?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Well, the most common
mistake is not applying
sunscreen, especially assumingthat just because it's cool
weather, this means that they'renot going to get sunburned.
Even if the day is slightlyovercast when you're out and
about, you're still exposed tothe sun.
So make sure that you applyproper skincare specific to your
(06:32):
body, because the SPF needs forthe face are different from the
body.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Interesting and
skincare is so important,
especially in the warmerclimates.
You know, like we're in the um,is there an ingredient or a
treatment that actually is worththe hype, something that people
should kind of be using or becautious of when they're looking
(07:02):
for a product?
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I found that, even
though it's been underrated,
vitamin B3 is very versatile.
It helps with redness, textureness, texture pores and
strengthens the skin barrierwithout irritation.
It's great for pretty mucheveryone because in products
like retinol, some skin typesare highly sensitive to it.
(07:29):
So I would say b vitamins likeb3.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
So I would say B
vitamins, like B3, would be a
great product if you have anysensitivities to anything else.
Great advice.
And how can stress and sleepyour lifestyle?
Speaker 2 (07:46):
choices.
How can that affect your skin?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Well, let's just say
that it's no coincidence that
stress is the cert spelledbackwards.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Oh wow, Habits that
you practice while under stress
could affect your skin.
When we're stressed, our diettends to not be the greatest.
So be self-aware.
As you're self-aware, you'llhave healthier habits that are
going to manifest into lookingbetter.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Great advice.
So let's do this.
Can you share a story for ourlisteners of someone I'll
mention no names, but someonethat kind of really was like wow
, and I know you probably have awhole bunch of them, but one
that really sticks out doesn'tmatter whether it's massage or
skincare yeah, it doesn't matterokay.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, I'm gonna share
a story about a massage client.
I had a regular massage clientcome to me and during her
massage I was working on herfeet.
One thing about my massage isthat my foot massage has
reflexology implemented into it.
When I hit a point that wasassociated with her gallbladder,
(09:02):
she felt some significant painand, mind you, it's out of my
scope of practice to diagnoseany condition.
However, I was able to confirmthat that trigger, with that
specific point, may imply thatshe may have an issue with her
(09:22):
gallbladder that may need to beaddressed to a specialist.
So in a routine visit with herprimary physician, her condition
was confirmed and she was ableto treat it, and she thanked me
for it.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
And how did and how
did that make you feel?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I was pleasantly
surprised that I say it.
It made me feel more motivatedin my pursuit and my career.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
I love that.
That is so awesome Cause youknow you did something to help
someone Right, and that andthat's the is so awesome Cause
you know you did something tohelp someone right and that and
that's the best feeling ever.
