Assigned female at birth, Catalina (Antonio) de Erauso was held in a convent, destined to become a nun – until she turned 15, cut her hair short, refashioned her habit into masculine clothing and escaped to a life of adventure. The highly controversial history of Erauso’s memoir was so wild that it is thought to be mostly fictional.
For this episode, a donation was made to Rainbow Railroad, an organization based out of Toronto that provides "solutions for LGBTQI people who need immediate assistance because they are facing a serious threat to their lives and safety".
