Blue Steel is one of those strains that doesn’t try to impress you by knocking you over. It just quietly shows up, does its job, and lets you stay human.

This episode is a solo run with Brandon holding things down while Jesse recovers, and it ends up being a really honest, grounded walkthrough of a strain that feels more like a tool than a party trick.

Blue Steel is an indica-dominant hybrid that usually lands in the lower THC range, roughly 16–18 percent. In a market obsessed with chasing the highest number on the label, this one goes the opposite direction, and that’s kind of the point.

This episode explores Blue Steel in concentrate form, not flower, with a lot of attention paid to flavor, sensation, and how the effects actually unfold over time instead of all at once.

Right out of the gate, the terpene profile makes itself known. Piney up front, with myrcene and beta-caryophyllene leading the charge. The flavor comes through fruity at first, then settles into something deeper and peppery on the exhale. It’s noticeable, but not harsh, especially when dabbed at lower temperatures.

The effects come on gently. Brandon describes it as a light dusting across the head rather than a heavy fog. Even though it’s indica dominant, there’s no haziness, no mental slowdown, and no derailment of your thoughts. The headspace stays clear and focused, while the body eases up, especially across the shoulders and back.

As it settles in, Blue Steel shows its personality. Relaxed, subtle, quietly uplifting. It doesn’t push you toward the couch, and it doesn’t shove you into your own head. It feels functional. Present. Calm.

This is framed as a daytime strain, especially for people who still want to get things done. For Brandon, who deals with chronic pain, it takes the sharp edge off without stealing attention or motivation. No chest pressure. No head pressure. No tightness. Just a smoother baseline.

The episode also turns into a really practical conversation about dabs, dosing, and why concentrates don’t have to mean getting obliterated. There’s a clear explanation of why low-temperature dabbing preserves flavor and experience, how tiny amounts go a long way, and why pens can sometimes deliver inconsistent effects over time due to repeated heating and cooling.

One of the most important takeaways here is that dabbing isn’t about taking massive globs or chasing intensity. It’s about control. Temperature control, dose control, and experience control.

Blue Steel ends up being described as a genuinely beginner-friendly strain. Low THC, roughly around one percent CBG depending on the grower, and commonly used for pain, stress, and anxiety. It doesn’t overwhelm or amplify anxious thoughts. Instead, it softens whatever edge you walked in with.

This is the kind of strain you could use while working, hanging out with friends, or easing into cannabis if you’re newer or more sensitive to higher THC products. It’s calm without being dull, relaxing without being sedating, and clear-headed without being stimulating.

Not flashy. Not aggressive. Just steady, pleasant, and effective.

Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Keep the Mic on.

(00:00):
Welcome to Cannabis School. I'm your host, Jesse Angeles.
And I'm Brandon Elder. And we're here to talk to you
about everything pertaining to cannabis from vape flour.
Edibles Strains. And everything in between.
Hey, welcome back to a slightly different episode of Cannabis
School. Today it's just me.

(00:21):
Jesse's been a little bit under the weather, kind of not great
for puffing and talking on a micfor a while.
So today it's just me and beforewe get into it, I wanted to give
a huge thank you and shout out to all of our Patreon

(01:06):
Kyle, Aaron, and Nathan. Huge shout out.
You guys are awesome. Love what you guys help us do
and getting to more people. So with that, we're going to get
into today's episode where we are talking about a strain that
might make you feel little bit like you're watching Zoolander.

(01:30):
Maybe not, maybe it is. Maybe this goes way over your
head and you're like, I don't know what the fuck that means.
But today we're checking out Blue Steel.
So get your smoulder face on, get a little bit of that Ben
Stiller action inside of you andsit down 'cause we're about to
hopefully blast off. So Blue Steel is a indica

(01:54):
dominant hybrid. It is a pretty low percentage of
THC often it's ranging around like 1618%.
So it's pretty low, at least as far as what we do often.
So I'm rocking the bomb mag loudtoday.

(02:15):
So first, wow, it's straight to the throat top terps.
Wow, top terps for this are right in my throat.
Just kidding, but they are pining, miracine and
caryophylline. Whoa, I definitely taste the

(02:36):
pining. I wonder if that whoa, geez,
it's like way back in my throat too.
All right, so that should be a little bit better.
It does have fruity notes in it.Wow, definitely some fruity
tones, some peppery tones way down.

(03:00):
Holy shit, way peppery tones waydown in your throat.
Blue Steel is supposed to be bred with OG Blueberry and the
Cube. So obviously I'm sure you guys
have tried Blueberry, at least many of you by now.
That was one of our first episode strains.
I believe so. That one's fantastic.

(03:24):
I love blueberry as like a normal indica strain.
I've never rocked the cube as a separate strain on its own, but
I will say so far, for being 1 hidden aside from coughing a
bunch, it's subtle, it's light, it's like a dusting across my
head for being indica dominant. It doesn't feel hazy or slow.

(03:49):
It doesn't seem too slow down mythoughts or take my train of
thought into random tangents. So it does seem so far to be a
good focused daytime kind of relaxing across my shoulders.
Right now it is top reported to be sleepy, relaxed and uplifted.

(04:13):
Kind of like a happy strain. All right, if you guys aren't
dabbing yet or don't have a dab rig, we'll get a little bit into
that, but we've got a code below.
Check out BOM E rigs. They have been our favorite E
devices for doing concentrates on the go or even at home.

(04:37):
So today it's in concentrate. We're not doing flower.
I don't have beautiful little nugs to show you.
I wish I did. OK, so Round 2, not quite as
coffee, not quite as harsh, still lots of fruity notes,
fruity tones. So while I wait for this to kind

(05:00):
of settle in a little bit more dabs, let's talk about dabs Now.
I went to a party over the weekend.
It was a buddy's birthday party and one of his friends was
there. And this friend's wife used to
be a big cannabis consumer and she's kind of segwayed out of it
as at this stage in her life, she's finding that it's actually

(05:20):
causing her more anxiety than itused to.
And so she's stepping back. And it's funny 'cause it's at
the same time as her husband is stepping into his cannabis era.
So he's like, oh man, I wish I could get together and smoke
with my wife or do this, but she's stepping away from that.
So he's not getting to enjoy that connection, that community

(05:41):
with his wife the same way that he was hoping to at this moment.
But at this party, he was talking about how he really
loves flour. He does a lot of pens and a lot
of flour, but he's been super nervous about dab.
And I kind of explained it to him that often times the

(06:03):
concentrates that we're getting in our cartridges, in our pens,
it's a little bit lower quality.Often times it's not as high of
a quality as you're going to getin a separate concentrate.
Now that pen as well, every timeyou use that pen, it's going to
heat up that concentrate and cool it back down.

(06:24):
You do that tons and tons of times over the life of that
cartridge. That concentrate that started
one way, by the end of that cartridge, all the heating and
cooling is going to change that chemical compound breakdown.
So what you might have started with at the beginning, well,
that experience at the end mightfeel completely different.
And you don't get to control that in a pen.

(06:47):
You don't get to control the temperature range the same
often. Yeah, it's great.
They give you like 3 or 4 temperature ranges, but I'm
doing my dabs way lower than anypen I've ever seen gets.
I get better terps, I get different flavors and I get
different experiences than I ever would from the pen.
Now, when you think about a pen and the amount of concentrate

(07:07):
that's in the entire pen, well, when you take one hit, whatever
size hit that is for you, how much concentrate do you think
you're actually using? Just miniscule, itsy bitsy tiny
pieces of that, right? So if that's all you're doing,
well, it's pretty simple to takethat same type of method and
approach to a dab rig or a concentrate.

(07:30):
So all you're going to do is take just the tiniest piece of
concentrate and put it in the dab rig, can be the size of a
pin head, could be the size of apencil eraser or a big goober.
It just depends on what you are needing, what your dose is and
what's going to be most effective for you.
And then the nicer thing is as you heat that up, the rest of

(07:52):
your concentrate doesn't change chemical compounds, doesn't
change consistency. It stays the same because you're
only separating that tiny bit. So at the end of that
concentrate, the gram of concentrate or you're going to
have the same starting product that you did when you first
bought it versus a pen. Who knows what that's going to
be by the end of your pen. So doing dabs isn't just to get

(08:14):
obliterated or to get blasted out of my mind.
It's not like these people I seeon YouTube or TikTok or
Instagram are doing 1/2 gram dabs and they're these fat globs
that are just sending them to space.
They're coughing their lungs out.
They don't even look like they're all there.
That's not the experience I want, and that's the best part
is I'm here to tell you guys, you don't have to have that

(08:38):
experience while dabbing. You can have a simple one even
with a rig like this. You don't have to take the whole
hit. Just pull a tiny bit on there
like you would on a pen or a bowl or a joint.
Just find the dose that's perfect for you.
And with E rigs with that, it makes it a lot simpler to get
the temperature range you want, the experience you want, and you

(08:59):
get a lot better quality concentrates and experience and
flavors. So now that we've had it settle
in a little bit, it's still really relaxing, very subtle.
Like this is a daytime kind of get work done strain.
At least for me, I have chronic pain.
So for me, that kind of helps take the sharpness out of my

(09:21):
back, allows me to be more present and just kind of focus
and hone in on what I actually need to accomplish that day.

(09:42):
Honestly, this is a pretty pleasant, pretty pleasant
strain, I would say. Not overwhelming in any sort of
way. I don't feel chest pressure.
I don't feel pressure in my head.
I don't feel any tightness anywhere.
All right, let's see where Round3 gets us.

(10:15):
And often, guys, I dab it, like right now it's 431, usually
between 4:25, 4/30. That's where I'm dabbing at.
I don't like the high temperatures.
I like the flavors of the chirpsI get.
I like the experiences when I burn it off at lower temps.
And if you want to go up from there, you always can.

(10:36):
There's so much concentrate leftwhen I burn when I do a dab at
425 or 430. Yeah.
So this, this is a nice happy creative strain.
It might be chill for hanging out with friends as long as you

(10:58):
don't get too couch locked in your head of like, oh wait, no,
I'm not saying anything. Am I being weird 'cause well, we
all have that first couple timeswhen we get high and paranoid of
going Oh my God, everyone, everyone knows I'm high.
And honestly, half the time, no one has any clue.

(11:23):
You know, I think this would be a pleasant beginner strain if
you're newer to cannabis, if youdon't have a lot of experience
or just really like low doses, this is a good daytime strain.
It's really low THC. It's rocking about 1% CBG, maybe
a little higher depending on whoyour grower is.

(11:54):
So most people are using Blue Steel for like pain, anxiety and
stress. I feel like that would be the
perfect combination for these. It's not overwhelming, like I
said, in any sort of way. So it just kind of takes that
edge of whatever you have going on off, whether it's a little
bit of tightness, tension, anxiety.

(12:16):
We always have that going on in life.
You know, life can definitely feel overwhelming and sitting
back puffing a little green and just resetting can do wonders
for your life. So today's episode is obviously
a little shorter than normal, but I'm glad you're here.
Glad you guys keep tuning in. We love you guys.

(12:38):
Jesse will be back Thursday, so TuneIn as we have an amazing
guest, Lily Lane, a fantastic artist with impeccable range and
just a whole load of songs. She's got a song that's dropped
that is about, well, you guessedit, getting just a little bit
higher. So throw it on, lay back, puff

(12:59):
some green and vibe. Catch you next week.
