SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hi everyone.
Hi, Jonathan Howard.
Hello, Mimi Langley.
Cheers! Cheers, everybody.
What is that?
It looks very dark.
SPEAKER_01 (00:12):
It's not really.
It's um cold brew.
Of course.
Yep.
And I also got a newrefrigerator, so I have fun in
ice cubes now.
Wait, does it talk to you?
Uh it's Wi-Fi connected andstuff.
I can knock on the door and itlike bright opens it up and like
I can see through.
It's weird.
It's too much.
SPEAKER_00 (00:31):
How come you haven't
made any content with the
refrigerator?
SPEAKER_01 (00:35):
I don't know,
because I don't want people to
see inside my refrigerator.
It's like personal.
It is not.
I can tell you what's in it.
Nothing.
Right now, nothing at all.
SPEAKER_00 (00:45):
Jonathan, can I just
say you look good?
SPEAKER_01 (00:47):
It's been like nine
months.
I know.
It's been forever.
You look skinnier.
Come on.
The last time you were oncamera, you had a baby and you
were nine months pregnant.
That's like the best complimentany girl can.
SPEAKER_00 (01:01):
Oh my gosh.
I'm going to hell.
No, you're not.
But no, honestly, like, no,you're going to heaven for that
compliment.
I'm like the top bottoms off.
SPEAKER_01 (01:08):
I'm like, but like,
yes, I had a baby.
You did.
You did your second one, so it'snot as shocking, but you know.
It's a boy though, not a girl.
Yeah.
How's how's it going with theboy?
SPEAKER_00 (01:22):
Honestly, I will say
this.
This is a little um sentimental, but uh, he's the love of my
life.
He really is.
There's something special aboutbeing a boy mom.
Now I get it.
You get it now.
SPEAKER_01 (01:33):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (01:33):
So you should go and
give your mom a hug.
Just saying.
Yeah.
Because boys are awesome.
Well, so far he is.
We'll see about teenage years.
SPEAKER_01 (01:41):
Yeah, he'll be
terrible for teenagers, but
you're not as worried about themas you are your teenage girls,
so it's easier.
SPEAKER_00 (01:47):
I hope that's the
case.
SPEAKER_01 (01:49):
So, what's been
going on for you?
Uh, nothing.
I work and I work and I work andI work.
I launched a new podcast.
Can we talk about it?
We can if you want.
SPEAKER_00 (01:59):
Tell people what it
is.
And by the way, you guys, we'renot trying to like delay what
the title tells you.
Because I don't even know whatthe title is.
Just we have no idea what we'retalking about.
It's not clear at all.
We will be talking about theelephant in the room.
But Jonathan, what about thisnew podcast?
SPEAKER_01 (02:14):
So I launched a new
podcast called The Story Lab.
It's really about helpingbusiness owners tell their story
and get more comfortable tellingtheir story.
So I'm giving tips and tricks.
It's a really quick 10-minuteepisode.
So you can take one thing fromit and actually do that one
thing so that you're makingprogress on telling your story,
getting comfortable telling yourstory, maybe even showing up
(02:35):
online.
And I keep them really, reallyshort.
SPEAKER_00 (02:39):
Now, did you decide
that?
Like, did you went into it?
I mean, obviously learning fromthis podcast, but every podcast
is different because we have ourthree-hour podcast episodes.
But like, were you like, I don'twant to talk, talk longer than
10 minutes about this, or what?
SPEAKER_01 (02:53):
So I went into it.
My first five episodes Irecorded were longer, and I
found that they were wanderingand they didn't really give
people actionable tips.
I gave really great ideas, butit wasn't something that you
could take home and do.
So I scrapped those fiveepisodes and went back to the
drawing board and re-recordedit.
And I said, you know what?
Let me do because I can wander.
(03:15):
I know.
And I can give you everything.
Yeah.
And I can give you everythingabout one topic, and it'll be
like, holy crap, I'm you feellike you're being buried.
Something I'm learning about inmy mastermind currently, that I
should not do that with mymembership.
So I said, look, okay, let mebreak this down.
Let me give you, like, if you'rewanting to learn how to write
out your story, I have anepisode where in like 11 minutes
(03:38):
I tell you how to write out yourstory and all the different
steps you take so that you canactually do it and come back and
then do the next thing.
SPEAKER_00 (03:45):
And you know what I
really love?
Because I am a fan.
I do get it downloaded.
I'm just saying, not because Iknow you, but because what
Jonathan shares is always likeit always just like lights,
turns on a light bulb in myhead.
And I was thinking like, it'snot even just applying your
storytelling to creatingcontent, but it's it even works
when you're talking to people, whether it's on podcasts or in
(04:06):
person, like it helps you bemore communicative.
SPEAKER_01 (04:09):
Yeah, yeah.
And I tried, I try to make it alittle bit broader than just for
business owners because I wantother people to be able to take
value from it, but obviouslyfocusing on that one ideal
client.
SPEAKER_00 (04:20):
Okay, well, we'll
put the link.
We have been putting the link ifyou haven't noticed, it's there.
We'll make sure to go back toall the other episodes too and
have our most recent links foryou guys.
Because how long have we beendoing this podcast for?
SPEAKER_01 (04:30):
I mean, we've been
doing this podcast for, well,
you we took a year off.
I mean, for all intents andpurposes, for all intents and
purposes, this is gonna air inNovember.
And the last episode that werecorded prior to this was in
January.
SPEAKER_00 (04:45):
It's so wild, but
you know what?
It's not like we took it off, wejust planned ahead.
SPEAKER_01 (04:49):
Right, right.
Because everybody was gettingdown.
I mean, we had every other weekthere was an episode up.
SPEAKER_00 (04:54):
There really was.
I mean, I mean, first of all,Jonathan's the mastermind behind
that productivity right there, because I would have, I would
have been like, you know what, they'll see us when they see us.
Like my LinkedIn people, they'reprobably like, where did Mimi
go?
But yeah, so yeah, we were wewere definitely ahead of the
game, which is yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (05:13):
Yeah.
And we we had episodes that werecorded that, and we probably
still have episodes hidden inour recordings that we haven't
aired that we don't know aboutthat after we, you know, we'll
throw them up there and peoplebe like, wait, they're back.
No, we're not.
Sorry.
SPEAKER_00 (05:27):
We'll talk about
that.
Okay, we'll get there.
Hold up, we have to talk aboutlike all the other biggest
thing, other than my baby andother than your podcast, like a
happy big thing that happenedwas our girl Taylor.
She fell out of the colour.
SPEAKER_01 (05:42):
I know people have
heard me talk about it though.
They're bored with that already.
Come on, it's not new.
No, but you didn't really didyou talk about the engagement
because you're talking about.
I didn't talk about theengagement.
I talked about the album and Italked about the podcast.
Yeah, I didn't talk about theengagement.
So we can talk about theengagement.
Hello.
Have you seen the ring?
It's really beautiful.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (05:58):
But would you expect
less from somebody who makes
like over a hundred million?
SPEAKER_01 (06:01):
Well but but he got
the ring and he custom made the
ring.
Like, hello you're screwed, man.
You're really screwed.
So he didn't go to K Jewelers.
No, he didn't go to K Jewelers.
He had custom made for her awhile ago.
Like, men, you're screwed.
He ruined it for all of you.
SPEAKER_00 (06:20):
Listen, I'm happy
with mine.
Thanks, babe.
SPEAKER_01 (06:22):
No, but seriously,
it's like it's really did did he
convert his entire garden in theback to a secret garden for you
to get engaged in?
No.
SPEAKER_00 (06:29):
You know, you know
it for you.
He proposed when we were hiking.
And I was sweating that itwasn't a fairy tale.
SPEAKER_01 (06:39):
Well, I mean, they
had just recorded a three-hour
podcast, so that's when they gotengaged.
It's right after the podcastrecording.
SPEAKER_00 (06:44):
Yes, I know, but
they're like in luxury, okay?
Come on.
She looked gorgeous.
And she, do you feel like shekind of suspected?
Because like just when you'rewalking out there, I mean, what
do you think's gonna happen?
Come on.
SPEAKER_01 (06:55):
Well, I don't know,
because he had all like all the
windows like blacked off andeverything while they were doing
it while they were recording theepisode.
Like, but she thought it wasbecause he was protecting the
privacy of the album and all thestuff they were gonna be talking
about because that wasn't doneout.
So I guess you know, I think hepulled it one over on her.
I think he did.
Good for him.
SPEAKER_00 (07:15):
I've got for him.
I've I think him and Taylor willprobably last, honestly.
SPEAKER_01 (07:20):
I hope they do.
I mean, uh, she deserves it, butwho knows what'll happen.
I think we never know what'sgonna happen.
SPEAKER_00 (07:27):
That's why you have
to take a chance.
That's what life's about.
It's just taking chances.
SPEAKER_01 (07:31):
And her new album
seems she seems very, very happy
in her new album.
It is the antithesis of TorturedPoets, so hey.
Antithesis?
Oh, there's another word we'llhave to define for Mimi in the
show notes.
Oh my gosh.
It wouldn't be an episode if wedidn't have to define a word.
SPEAKER_00 (07:45):
My dictionary is
like in my head, it's just
expanding.
It's like the opposite of Idon't really remember the other
words, though, honestly.
If we if you we should have donean episode where you test me.
My gosh, that would have beenembarrassing.
Alright, so Taylor's engaged,everybody.
I had a baby.
Jonathan launched a podcastabout storytelling.
SPEAKER_01 (08:04):
I've had some other
things.
Well, I yeah.
I mean, I did, I lost one of mypuggles.
So not the one that was sick, soit was a little bit of a
surprise.
But the one that was sick isdoing much, he's much healthier
now.
He's doing well.
Yeah.
After after I adopted, he was hewas in depressed mode.
(08:25):
I will tell you, nothingprepares you for handling the
grief that a dog feels, and youcan't do anything about it.
Like that was a whole otherworld for me that I was not
expecting.
But I do have a new pup.
So Max is 14.
His brother was 14 when hepassed, Ryder.
Um, and I was worried aboutgetting a puppy because Max is
(08:50):
14.
And um, yeah.
So I ended up, I accidentallyI'm gonna say I accidentally
adopted a three-year-old pitbull.
Um, because you accidentallyfall in love with you, you were
looking and you're going, oh,I'm looking for this type of
dog, and then you see a dog andyou're like, oh my god, that's
my dog.
And so I was, you know, we wentthrough the shelter.
(09:10):
It's a little hard to get dogsup here in New York because of
some of the laws that exist, toughest breeding laws, and
really lax kind of shelter laws.
So I ended up going to a placein South Carolina that literally
works with getting dogs adoptedup in this area.
And I fell in love withMaverick, and Maverick is laying
right next to me.
I wish I could move my camera.
Um, let me see.
SPEAKER_00 (09:30):
You have like 20
cameras.
Can't you just pick one off thewall?
SPEAKER_01 (09:33):
No, I could, but so
Maverick is laying next to me.
He's a three-year-old pit bull.
He is the sweetest dog.
Um, just big and dopey andsweet, but yeah, so I
accidentally adopted athree-year-old pit bull.
Max was not getting out of bed.
He was he was really depressed.
And I was like, okay, well, I'vegot to try something.
So I was looking, I found athree-year-old.
(09:54):
I was like, okay, not a puppy.
This is a good thing.
Let's kind of see if this works.
Um now Max has a purpose inlife.
He gets out of bed to make hisbrother miserable.
SPEAKER_00 (10:06):
Actually, that's so
sweet because usually it's the
little ones that are irritatingthe older ones.
Right.
You know, the little the olderones don't want to be bothered.
So I think that's cute.
SPEAKER_01 (10:14):
So it gets him out
of bed, he gets to harass his
brother.
And for the most part, therehaven't been any major fights or
anything, so we're good.
And do you feel like it'shealing your heart a little bit
more?
A little bit.
It's still really hard.
Like there, I had to go to thevet with Maverick the first
time, and like going there wasRyder happened very quick,
unexpected.
(10:35):
You know, he got sick on aMonday, and by Wednesday he was
gone.
So it was hard to go.
Um I because I was I was layingon the floor crying with Ryder.
My parents got there and thenthey had to losing a dog is
hard.
(10:55):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (10:57):
Is this your first
one?
SPEAKER_01 (10:58):
Or my sister, I I
was there when my sister had to
put one of her dogs to sleep.
Okay.
Because he had a seizuredisorder that he wasn't able to
so I was there for that, which Iknew was hard, but it wasn't my
dog that'd been with me for 14years.
That was yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (11:15):
Yeah.
I remember I lost my my uh I hada Boston terrier.
Um it's just like it's weird.
Yeah, it is.
Death is just weird, period.
I think to try to like consolemyself, I just pretend that
they're on like a long vacation.
SPEAKER_01 (11:29):
You know?
I just feel bad because Rydernever wanted like Ryder was
never alone.
He had his brother and me, andhe and he hated being alone.
Like if I left him for anything,he would cry his entire time.
So I I feel like Well, he's notalone anymore.
SPEAKER_00 (11:41):
I mean, he's in the
best place he could possibly be,
honestly.
I guess so.
Even though your place wasamazing, but with your West Elm
furniture, but you know.
SPEAKER_01 (11:47):
Anyway, let's move
on to happier things so I don't
cry this episode.
SPEAKER_00 (11:51):
I know you're gonna
cry editing it.
SPEAKER_01 (11:53):
I know.
I know.
SPEAKER_00 (11:54):
You want a tissue?
I brought tissues.
Look, it's the real brand too, because I know you passed.
Oh, look, you you got fancybrand, not Kmart.
Really?
There's like no Kmart's left inthe world.
Things probably.
Oh my goodness.
At least pick a couple ofthings.
Could have said Kaldor.
That would have been a good one.
I could tell he does not uh goshopping at our places, people.
SPEAKER_01 (12:13):
I'm bougie, I'm not
relatable.
SPEAKER_00 (12:16):
Kmart goes to Kmart.
SPEAKER_01 (12:17):
Kmart doesn't exist
anymore.
I'm sorry.
This shirt is a rental.
Shut up.
Is it a rental from Red ofMonroe?
No, it's a different place.
I actually had to stop rentingfrom Express because they were
sending me crap.
And I found a new place, butit's really it's a little
expensive.
I hope that you gave themfeedback.
SPEAKER_00 (12:33):
Like you're not
whoever's styling me is not
doing it right.
Not doing a good job.
You failed.
SPEAKER_01 (12:39):
I got new glasses
too.
So I got a new desk.
I have a new cactus addiction.
What else do we have to talkabout?
Are they Warby Parker?
Yeah, the glasses are WarbyParker.
Cacti are not Warby Parker.
Show it, show it.
Well, this is this is calledFlowerfield, is the name of this
one.
It's pretty.
unknown (12:57):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (12:57):
He has a cacti
obsession.
SPEAKER_01 (12:59):
Yeah, I do.
This this little cacti here.
Um is it worth more than mymicrophone?
Do you want to know the price?
This one would sell.
This one would sell for like$300.
Whoa.
SPEAKER_00 (13:12):
Where are they
getting these from?
SPEAKER_01 (13:13):
Like a different
country?
Yep.
And import export is uh a littleexpensive lately.
Yeah.
You're just like, I just feellike a$300 cacti.
I did not pay, I am have grownthat one from a much smaller pup
that I did not pay$300 for, butnow because of its size, it
would go for like$300.
So you could sell it on eBay?
I could.
Except I'd have to ship it.
SPEAKER_00 (13:35):
I love this for you,
though.
I feel like you're in a wholenew era in your life.
Like, you know, I always talkabout 2025 being TBD, like for
me, which has honestly been oneof the best years of my life.
Like, just growth.
Like, I don't know.
Like, I've always like picturedmyself as someone who just like,
I don't know, like a KennyChesney, like a female version
of Kenny Chesney, like someonewho just lounges on the island,
you know what I mean?
(13:56):
Like lives like like lives life, like I'm not all about hustle
and bustle anymore.
Like, I'm just not.
That was like a previous lifefor me when I lived in LA and
all that stuff.
Like now I'm just like, I likegoing with the flow.
SPEAKER_01 (14:07):
You're happy, you
have a husband, you have two
kids, everyone's healthy.
Everybody's healthy.
That's a good thing.
SPEAKER_00 (14:13):
I mean, I still have
my dreams and my aspirations,
but it's just all it doesn'tlike consume me anymore.
Like it, like it, it's you know, and I maybe it's comes with age.
I don't know.
And maybe not even age.
I don't know, really know whatit is, but like I always felt
like I had to like do this bythis this point.
Do you know what I mean?
Like there's always been atimeline.
SPEAKER_01 (14:32):
There's always been
expectations.
You've held yourself to somebodyelse's expectations, and you
never got to set your own life, and now you're setting your own
life.
You're happy with what you'vegot.
You want more, right?
But you're happy with where youare.
And that takes a lot.
It is age, and I mean you're alot younger than I am.
(14:54):
A lot.
Like a lot, but yes, there is acertain point in life where you
realize that you can't live upto what everybody else's
expectations of your life was,and you can be happy with the
things that you have.
And as long as people are happy, healthy, and you know, you're
good.
SPEAKER_00 (15:09):
Honestly, isn't that
wild?
But yeah, I think the older Iget, it's my prior like the
things are the most importantshift.
Cause now I'm just like, it'sabout to get, you know, it's
time to get healthy, it's timeto focus on family time.
And do you know what I'm saying?
Like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01 (15:23):
Yeah.
And I mean, your reading today, you that did tell you you need
to take action though.
SPEAKER_00 (15:29):
Right.
But like, it's like, well, okay, well, what kind of action?
Because like, in what area of mylife do I take action?
Because I feel like I'm takingaction, like I'm planting seeds,
which is like the first step.
Plant the seed.
So I know what action you wantme to take.
It's time to take action.
I am going to be writing a NewYork Times best-selling
(15:49):
children's book, author MimiLangley.
So be on the lookout for that.
SPEAKER_01 (15:53):
Yep.
You better take action on thatdamn book.
SPEAKER_00 (15:56):
Oh, I will.
I'm gonna go on the story lab.
I already told um everybodywhile you were away getting your
coffee that I'm gonna be a gueston the story lab and we're gonna
talk about it.
SPEAKER_01 (16:04):
Okay.
All right.
Just be able to frame it in away that can help other people.
We're good.
SPEAKER_00 (16:09):
And you want me to
talk in 10 minutes or less?
Because that's not possible.
SPEAKER_01 (16:12):
10 minutes or less.
That's it.
That's all you get.
No, we I give my guests 15minutes, but I usually write it
down.
Usually edit it down from there.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (16:19):
Okay.
Should we talk about it?
SPEAKER_01 (16:21):
I guess we should
talk about it.
I we don't know what the titleis right now.
It's just called finale episode.
SPEAKER_00 (16:27):
It could be like
TBD, to be deterred.
No, it's more like um a see youlater.
SPEAKER_01 (16:33):
Is it?
SPEAKER_00 (16:34):
It's not a goodbye.
I don't think.
SPEAKER_01 (16:36):
Are we gonna ever
come back to the Coffee Social
podcast?
SPEAKER_00 (16:39):
Who knows what the
brand Coffee Social is gonna do
in the future?
It might not be a podcastnecessarily.
I was like really thinking a lotabout this.
So, you guys, we are gonna stoprecording new episodes for
Coffee Social.
SPEAKER_01 (16:50):
Because Mimi hates
me.
SPEAKER_00 (16:51):
At this point in our
lives, right?
Like, but and it's not there'sno hate.
Like everything is like verywhat happens like when people
get divorced, what's that wordthat they use?
Amicable.
Amicable?
We're getting divorced now?
What the hell?
SPEAKER_01 (17:04):
I can't believe
you're divorcing me on air.
Spread the rumors.
Spread You're divorcing me onair.
What the hell is that about?
SPEAKER_00 (17:13):
I was just thinking
of a movie lyric, a movie line
that I love.
I divorce you, I divorce you, Idivorce you.
unknown (17:18):
Okay.
SPEAKER_01 (17:19):
I'm leaving.
I'm leaving this episode, andthen you don't have to edit it
yourself.
SPEAKER_00 (17:22):
No, honestly, no,
you know, we've been talking,
it's not like we take this thatdecision lightly.
We've been talking about thisfor a while.
And we are both kind of in, Idon't know if you've noticed
this, but I've noticed thisabout you.
I feel like you're in adifferent era in your life.
Like you are in the I'm shining,I'm Jonathan Howard, and I'm
glowing era.
And like you are taking, you aredoing your thing.
(17:44):
And I'm not saying coffee socialwould hold you up.
I'm just saying, you guys, lifegoes on, and this is not a sad
goodbye.
This is, I think we did reallywell with what we created.
SPEAKER_01 (17:58):
I think so too.
And I think we had a lot of funon the episodes, and you know,
even just recording, like to getthis date down was a lot because
you've got two kids now.
I've got two kids now in theform of dogs, and potentially a
third, which is actually harderto get a hold of Jonathan than
it is me, but yeah.
It it is hard to get a hold ofme.
(18:18):
Um, and I I feel like I'm goingnonstop.
I I did join the mastermind thatI'm working on, which is 90 days
of hell.
Um that's gonna pay off, I'mhoping.
Um, and yeah, I've got I got alot going on.
Mimi's got a lot going on.
Another season would have beenhard to figure out.
And we and we don't want to halfdo it for you.
(18:40):
So we do have two seasons, likealmost 60 episodes.
Maybe it'll be 60.
Who knows where we land?
It won't be 58, that's for sure.
It won't be 58 according toMimi.
So, you know, we'll we'll seewhat happens.
But yeah, this is our lastfreaking episode.
SPEAKER_00 (18:56):
Well, I think like
when we individually like make
it really big.
What?
SPEAKER_01 (19:00):
What the f how is
this our last episode?
SPEAKER_00 (19:02):
Well, hold on, don't
go there yet.
I'm I'm seeing when we both makeit individually big, right?
Like household names.
SPEAKER_01 (19:12):
I mean, I don't
know.
SPEAKER_00 (19:12):
I think that's what
you want too.
I mean, not like crazy big.
SPEAKER_01 (19:16):
Well, I want to be
well known.
Yeah, I know you do.
I want to be known in my nicheas the best person to go to.
Okay, well.
Mimi wants to be like Hollywood, like Taylor Swift level.
Crazy.
SPEAKER_00 (19:28):
No, not that big.
I want to still be able to go tothe mall without having to wear
a wig.
Okay.
Who goes to the mall?
What is happening here?
But I'm thinking, you know, whenwe both have like our individual
successes, I think we shouldstill come back together and do
that coffee social tour that wealways wanted to, where I wear
the ball gown and you wear thetext.
SPEAKER_01 (19:46):
Mimi's always wanted
a ball gown.
She keeps sending me ball gownpictures.
Even if it's one night only.
And I'm like, what, Mimi?
You're leaving the podcast andyou're never gonna get to wear
the ball gown.
So we could do it at Radio CityMusic Hall.
You're never gonna get to wearthe ballgown.
You're welcome.
SPEAKER_00 (20:02):
You guys, can
someone back me up here, please?
SPEAKER_01 (20:06):
There's nobody in
your studio.
SPEAKER_00 (20:08):
I'm already
envisioning it.
I don't need anybody else.
I have like 25 personalities.
SPEAKER_01 (20:15):
Of course you do.
Oh, this episode's already 32minutes long.
We haven't even got into likethe core of the episode.
I know.
SPEAKER_00 (20:23):
But we we just
wanted to thank you guys for
like sticking around with us,and we really appreciate you
guys listening in and out.
And let me tell you, I would goback and like re-listen to
episodes.
We have been doing this for solong.
Yeah, we have.
SPEAKER_01 (20:36):
There's I mean,
honestly, there's 60 episodes,
and you know what?
Most podcasts never make it past10 episodes.
We did six times that.
So we did like six podcasts.
Yeah, we did.
And I mean, like hell, I justhit 10 episodes with Story Lab.
So, you know, a lot of podcastsdon't make it past that.
We made it way past that.
We had some great episodes.
(20:57):
We had some fun.
We went to a podcast umconference.
I spoke at a podcast conferencethis year.
Like you did.
I applied to speak at Podfest inJanuary.
Wait, is that the one inFlorida?
Orlando, yeah.
I might just have to go down.
Yeah, you there you go.
So a lot has happened.
We've come a long way since thefirst episode.
(21:18):
I mean, Mimi's back to herbasic, like, not system, but she
has the mic stand at least.
SPEAKER_00 (21:24):
I have the mic
stand, which I'm gonna throw
away after this.
Thanks, Mark.
Thanks, Jonathan, forrecommending a mic stand.
You can throw it away because ifwe come back and I have to deal
with you banging on the mic, when I come back, when I'm doing
anything on video, I'm justgonna be holding my mic.
SPEAKER_01 (21:41):
Great.
SPEAKER_00 (21:42):
Because I'm gonna be
authentic to myself.
SPEAKER_01 (21:44):
Yeah.
So when you ever see her onvideo again, she'll be batting
around the mic like a cat.
Hard to hear.
And whoever is editing it isgonna have a miserable time.
SPEAKER_00 (21:54):
See you guys.
This is why we did not laugh.
No.
Um, let's talk about somefavorite moments.
Because I was thinking aboutepisode one.
Remember when my microphonewasn't on?
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (22:03):
I remember that one
when you're which we didn't air
as episode one because weweren't at that point where we
could even because people wouldbe like, what the frig is this?
So we aired it like as the20-something episode in in
season one.
So you can find that one.
We'll find the number for you.
That was that was.
SPEAKER_00 (22:21):
I can't believe like
you are being the producer
allowed that to happen.
SPEAKER_01 (22:26):
So I was also new to
this and was not aware of how I
could check during the episodewhether you were plugged in or
not.
We couldn't hear anything.
It was it was terrible.
unknown (22:37):
Terrible.
SPEAKER_00 (22:38):
Okay, well, what is
a moment that sticks out to you?
Let's see if it's on my list.
Café con leche.
Yes, it is on my list.
It still sounds French to me.
I'm sorry.
It's not French.
I know, and I and I and I, youknow, it's Spanish.
Mm-hmm.
There you go.
You learned.
And I appreciate the Spanishlanguage.
I love the Spanish culture.
Like, let me tell you, Selena, that's my movie, okay?
SPEAKER_01 (23:00):
Yeah.
She Selena probably had cafe conleche.
SPEAKER_00 (23:03):
She probably did.
And she has a documentary comingout.
It's probably out by the timeyou guys are listening to this.
I know.
You're looking at your time.
You gotta go in 30 minutes.
I told you I only hit Johnathanfor like a little window.
SPEAKER_01 (23:11):
I know.
This window is we're good.
We're good.
It's all good.
Okay, another moment was when wedon't even get to see.
So cafe con leche was when Isaid I was I like my coffee
light, like cafe con leche.
And Mimi literally goes, You'respeaking French to me.
And I was like, What the no?
I'm speaking Spanish.
(23:32):
That was not a broad moment.
Yeah, it happened for real.
For real.
SPEAKER_00 (23:36):
Jonathan's met me
multiple times.
He knows this is my personalityat this point.
Yep.
Yep, yep.
Um it wasn't my proudest moment, but it really was what I was
thinking at the time.
There you go.
It's what was on her mind, andit popped out.
By the way, I'm going to Francenext year.
Well, there you go.
No, not next year, in 2027.
SPEAKER_01 (23:55):
Yeah.
So that's awesome, and I'm gladyou're planning ahead.
Jesus.
Then again, I planned, I plannedSpain was way in advance.
I was a year and a half out whenI planned Spain.
So there you go.
I can't talk about it.
For real.
But yeah, that's Mimi.
Things just pop out of hermouth, and you're like, wait a
minute.
Is that right?
SPEAKER_00 (24:13):
Are you sick about
that?
I miss you.
Okay, we'll see each other soon.
Yes.
Um okay.
We were interviewing.
The other moment I had was wewere interviewing Lalo.
He was our first guest ever.
And my background fell down.
SPEAKER_01 (24:27):
That's right.
We're gonna have to, I'm gonnahave to go back and find these
clips in all the previousepisodes so we can play them to
people because yeah, yourbackground fell down then.
SPEAKER_00 (24:36):
He was so funny.
And thankfully we know Lalo, soit's like he was like, I think
he was like, what's going on?
Because I don't think he saw itfull, but yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (24:45):
That was that was
that was one, yes.
SPEAKER_00 (24:48):
Um and I mean like I
put so much tape on that thing.
SPEAKER_01 (24:51):
You did put so much
tape on that thing for yeah.
She was always she had like theparty background going on for a
while.
SPEAKER_00 (24:57):
And this, if they're
seeing video, this I was saying
this while you were getting yourcoffee.
This is not dirt or dust, thisis a Halloween decoration.
SPEAKER_01 (25:06):
Okay, because it
looks like there's dust hanging
from that picture.
I was going to be like, what isgoing on with that?
I'm gonna have to edit that out,but it's a Halloween decoration.
Okay, all right.
Now I'll know when I hear the uhthe explanation at the
beginning.
Another one of my favorites waswhen I called you young lady.
SPEAKER_00 (25:25):
Oh my gosh.
You were really stern about ittoo, young lady.
SPEAKER_01 (25:29):
Yeah, well, you
wouldn't let me finish.
SPEAKER_00 (25:31):
I forgot.
I was not happy.
Well, we that was like our thingthough.
You know, we're gonna go down inhistory as we just talk over
each other.
SPEAKER_01 (25:38):
Yeah, Mimi just
talks over me constantly.
We talk over each other becauseit was you.
And I was like, if you don't letme finish this point, I'm gonna
lose my mind with you.
SPEAKER_00 (25:48):
Um, another moment
that just popped up.
It wasn't in the episode, but itwas like, are you two married?
Who said that?
SPEAKER_01 (25:53):
I don't remember,
but it wasn't in an episode.
It was was it when we met thesecond time?
Was it then?
No.
SPEAKER_00 (26:00):
It could have been.
It could have been a good thing.
SPEAKER_01 (26:02):
I'm like, are you
two married?
SPEAKER_00 (26:04):
No, we're not.
But we do bicker like American.
SPEAKER_01 (26:06):
No, it was podcast
movement.
Oh, really?
Yes, somebody thought we weremarried.
Because people thought we weredoing a husband and wife podcast
thing.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (26:15):
That's hilarious.
Well, you are my work husband,so there we go.
SPEAKER_01 (26:18):
Makes sense.
I'm trying to think if there'sanything else.
So I particularly loved, and itwas actually at a rough time for
us.
We'll let people in on that, butI particularly loved the breakup
episode, which actually almostwas the break, the end of the
podcast.
Oddly enough.
(26:39):
The day after that, we had afight and we're almost ended the
podcast over YouTube covers.
SPEAKER_00 (26:44):
We're two creatives.
You have to remember this, youknow, and like, and it's just we
both have visions, and so Imean, that is not like we I will
tell you the breakup episode wasprobably by far our best piece
of material.
SPEAKER_01 (26:57):
Yeah.
Oh, it was so it was so good.
It was still good.
But after that episode, we had adisagreement over YouTube
covers, which we've had sincethe beginning of this podcast.
We do not agree on the YouTubecovers.
SPEAKER_00 (27:11):
Well, now I could do
whatever I want, and so can
Jonathan.
SPEAKER_01 (27:14):
Yes, you can.
I haven't posted on YouTubesince you stopped.
Yeah, they haven't been onYouTube since you stopped
putting them.
SPEAKER_00 (27:19):
Well, no, I'm
saying, like, now every time I
put up a big thumbnail, I'm justgonna send it to Jonathan and
haunt him.
SPEAKER_01 (27:25):
Yeah.
Uh, there'll be that.
So, but I loved that episode.
It's funny how it kind of fellin line.
Like, Mimi and I didn't talk forlike two days.
It was that's a lot for us.
Yeah, it is.
But but yeah, that was such agood episode.
SPEAKER_00 (27:42):
Anyway, any others?
SPEAKER_01 (27:44):
Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00 (27:44):
I mean, we just have
like such a like uh, I mean,
there's been so many times whereI've just like laugh.
Like I'm always laughing withyou.
Like, I think that's why likeI've always enjoyed doing the
podcast.
It's because aside from businessstuff, it yeah, you're just so
fun.
Like, I know you're gonna be myfriend for like ever because we
just have like that kind ofpersonality where we understand
what each other's thinking.
Like, I don't know.
Yeah, no, I think it's hard tofind people like that.
SPEAKER_01 (28:07):
I agree.
And I think, and I tell peopleall the time, like, this podcast
would not have worked if itwasn't for Mimi, like at all.
Thanks.
SPEAKER_00 (28:14):
Well, I am the star.
I am the funny one.
SPEAKER_01 (28:16):
No, you're not the
funny one.
I'm the funny one.
You have this all planned out, like the episodes, you've got
notes for the episodes.
I just have to go in before theepisode starts and write out all
the things that I say, no, we'renot talking about.
No, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00 (28:28):
Okay.
Let's talk about that for asecond.
SPEAKER_01 (28:32):
Okay.
But I would wake up to yournotes for my notes.
She would write notes for theepisode, and I would follow
those notes.
I would just make additions tothose notes, or maybe X
something out completely, and Isaw it at the top.
SPEAKER_00 (28:49):
Like my AI.
Let's talk about AI.
Oh my gosh.
Guys, I literally had to sendhim money.
No, I didn't.
Like, it was so hard to get.
This was kind of like, I mean,AI was mainstream, but it wasn't
like what it is right now inthis moment.
I think AI has like really takenover.
SPEAKER_01 (29:05):
Yeah.
And and yeah, it's taken over, and I hate it.
You still hate it?
I still hate it when it comes tocontent because people still
create the worst content withAI.
I have trained my my Chat GPT totalk like me, to understand me,
to not use like friggin'M-dashes and and words like
skyrocket.
I've trained it to not do that, but I still have to go back
(29:28):
after I ask for it to createsomething and rewrite it.
But people don't do that extrastep, so it makes me angry.
SPEAKER_00 (29:36):
People don't think
anymore.
Because I wonder if anything'schanged for you.
SPEAKER_01 (29:43):
I can't believe that
it's aired.
Yeah, I use ChatGPT.
That's changed now.
I was hardcore against it.
And I still am hardcore againstit if people are creating
content, but there is value intraining it.
And I was also in that process.
It took me almost A year totrain my ChatGPT.
I was still in that process ofdoing that and giving it
(30:05):
information so that it wouldsound like me.
SPEAKER_00 (30:07):
So how often do you
use ChatGPT now?
Like for your content?
SPEAKER_01 (30:12):
Daily, I use it for
at least brainstorming my
content and putting stufftogether.
Yeah.
And finding like for mypodcasting room that I'm doing
in a few minutes, like findingthe right clip that does, like I
tell it like I'm looking for aclip that does all of these
things, and it'll find a clipfrom that podcast that does all
those things.
SPEAKER_00 (30:28):
Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01 (30:29):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (30:30):
That saves so much
time.
Okay.
I won't tell anybody that you dothat.
SPEAKER_01 (30:34):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (30:34):
Secret.
SPEAKER_01 (30:35):
I'll tell them in
the uh room today.
unknown (30:38):
Okay.
SPEAKER_00 (30:38):
I know you're gonna
have a lot to edit, but anything
else as far as favorites oranything?
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (30:44):
I don't know, Mimi.
SPEAKER_00 (30:45):
We had almost 60
episodes.
It's a lot.
Well, Britney, I know we talkedabout Britney Spears a lot.
SPEAKER_01 (30:51):
We talked about
Taylor a lot.
We did.
We had a Taylor Swift.
We had at least two Taylor Swiftepisodes.
That's where I started to talkabout Taylor Swift in
mainstream.
Like, so a lot of my contentsince then has been thanks to
the podcast.
Any Taylor Swift stuff, whichI've done.
I did a two-hour room onTaylor's new album and what you
(31:11):
can learn about storytellingfrom Taylor's new album.
SPEAKER_00 (31:14):
I think that you did
not text me for that because
that was like the midnightrelease.
SPEAKER_01 (31:19):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (31:20):
And I was sleeping.
SPEAKER_01 (31:22):
You were sleeping,
and I was like, whatever.
I did a release party.
I did a release party there.
Yep.
We listened to the the uh Ithink he's doing all of this
just so he can be like, I'm areal Swifty.
Mimi's not Mimi's not a realSwifty.
She's a fake Swifty.
I have a t-shirt.
When did you listen to the newalbum?
Yes, I did.
When?
Recently.
What do you mean?
(31:42):
Not a real Swifty.
You didn't wake up at midnightand listen to the new album.
Not a Swifty.
Okay, first of all.
I don't care about the babies.
No.
You should be playing it for thebabies.
Did you go to the movies?
I was on vacation.
I was in Florida on vacation.
(32:03):
I at least did the midnightlisten.
Do they not have movies inFlorida?
Come on.
They didn't have any of thatgoing on where I was.
SPEAKER_00 (32:10):
So there.
SPEAKER_01 (32:11):
Oh, Jonathan Howard.
SPEAKER_00 (32:13):
I mean, we can keep
going because I'm I'm good for
doing a three-hour episode.
No, we're not doing a three-hourepisode.
This week have we broken.
SPEAKER_01 (32:21):
We could come back
in a year and do a 40-minute
one, yeah.
You know, we could take up threehours.
We really could.
We could take up three hours, but people would be bored.
It would be like, oh my god, isthis podcast over with yet?
They said they were ending it.
They didn't say they were goingon for three hours.
SPEAKER_00 (32:37):
Listen if there's a
three-hour podcast, that means
that they can walk for threehours and get like 25,000 steps.
SPEAKER_01 (32:44):
Like it's a good
thing.
Who's who's walking for threehours?
Who has three hours to spare ona podcast?
I do.
I listen to long podcasts.
You and Leah.
I don't get it.
Hi Leah.
People are like, who the fuck isLeah?
What the hell is going on?
And I've cursed so much in thisgoddamn episode, I'm gonna have
to bleep everything the fuckout.
SPEAKER_00 (33:05):
Oh my gosh.
Yep.
I think you should just leavethe Fs in and we can put
explicit on one episode.
SPEAKER_01 (33:11):
Why not?
Because then we people are gonnabe like, oh fuck, I can't listen
to this one.
Oh goddammit, there's no fuckingkids in it.
Fucking fuck.
We just cursed on this podcast.
I can't believe it.
I'm gonna tell your children.
Mommy said fuck.
Oh my gosh.
I'm yelling that now.
And it's being heard in thedance because you don't have
your equipment set up right.
(33:32):
It broke on me.
Thanks, Apple.
Yeah, fake broadcaster.
SPEAKER_00 (33:36):
I know.
I really like my Zoom.
Do you think it's the Zoom or doyou think it's my headphones?
SPEAKER_01 (33:41):
I think it's your
headphones, actually.
SPEAKER_00 (33:42):
Yeah, they're Apple.
SPEAKER_01 (33:45):
There's nothing
wrong with Apple.
Nothing wrong with Apple.
I do love Apple.
She was using old plug-inheadphones, people.
Apple was my previous employer.
SPEAKER_00 (33:52):
So I can't pay
anything about it.
SPEAKER_01 (33:56):
Maybe 50.
SPEAKER_00 (33:57):
I bought these for
the podcast.
Oh my gosh.
You know what I'll do?
I'll put it like in my littlemuseum, and then when I become
well known and a household name,I'll have a museum where they
can go see the first headphonesfrom Coffee Social.
SPEAKER_01 (34:09):
There you go.
Because that's what they'regonna want to see.
SPEAKER_00 (34:11):
Is that earwax on
them?
I think there's earwax rightthere.
SPEAKER_01 (34:15):
There's makeup god.
SPEAKER_00 (34:18):
I didn't have to use
these.
I think it's because you knowwhy we've been talking about
this for so long.
Um I've already had moments ofcrying.
SPEAKER_01 (34:25):
Yeah.
I've had moments of like, I'mreally like when I publish this
episode, I think it's gonna whenI edit this episode, I'll
probably be crying because thedog and the episode, yeah.
Um me.
And Mimi.
Well, I said the Yeah.
I know.
No, I think it's we've beentalking about it for almost a
year.
Let's let's be honest.
(34:46):
Since January, when we stoppedrecording, and then we didn't
record anything until this,literally.
It's wild.
Yeah.
So everything that you've seenis before January.
And I think there's things thatI'm sure have happened that
we've just, yeah, we haven'teven talked about here that is
crazy.
I mean, I know I got a newrefrigerator, I got a new desk,
I had to rewire my entire house.
(35:06):
My front porch is finally done.
I got a catchy.
SPEAKER_00 (35:11):
That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01 (35:11):
I mean, it should
be.
It's nine months after it wasstill before the blizzards come.
Yeah, yeah.
My goodness.
Yeah, so things are things aredifferent.
I'm sure there's a lot that'sdifferent with Mimi.
She's got a whole new life, newkids.
SPEAKER_00 (35:24):
Same couch, same uh
I need my West Elm eventually.
Yeah.
Well, if Facebook keeps feedingme those ads, it's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01 (35:32):
New dog.
SPEAKER_00 (35:33):
Okay, okay, okay.
You gotta go.
SPEAKER_01 (35:35):
I know.
I gotta go.
Yeah, I do have like roomstarting in 20 minutes.
So Mimi! You know what we gottado?
We gotta tell people to ratethis same thing.
What things to say?
Oh yeah.
They gotta go give Mimi fivestars because Mimi loves stars
more than anything in the world.
Mimi loves stars.
So you gotta go give it fivestars, even though we can't tell
you how many stars to give it.
Who said that though?
(35:56):
Well, you can't.
You can't tell people how whatto rate you, then that's not
valid rating.
We're not gifting them anything.
You're forcing them to rate youwith something.
You can't force anyone to doanything.
We are kindly asking that yougive us a review.
Give us five stars if you like.
Only if you like.
If you hate the episodes, thenjust send Mimi a message and let
her know.
SPEAKER_00 (36:16):
Yeah, we're not
don't.
You better not put a one star.
I'm gonna have to take my hoopsoff.
This is real New Yorker righthere.
SPEAKER_01 (36:22):
She almost killed
somebody that gave us a
four-star rating.
She did.
I had to hold it back.
Oh my gosh.
I hope you're happy, Jeff.
Jeff, I'm hoping you're happythat you're still alive.
Because Mimi was gonna kill you.
This is all false.
All the Jeffs listening to thepodcast are gonna be like, what?
What do we do after that?
SPEAKER_00 (36:42):
Okay, we do um, oh
yeah, make sure.
Where can they find us?
Okay, so we have some newplaces.
So we do.
We say follow us on ourInstagrams, which are always
linked below.
And then Jonathan, I know youhave an Instagram for Stor the
Story Lab.
SPEAKER_01 (36:56):
I do have an
Instagram for the Story Lab, and
you can also follow the StoryLab, like, follow, you know, do
all the things you're gonna doon iTunes, wherever the hell you
want to listen to podcasts.
You can also go directly to mypodcast page, which we'll list.
Never did get coffee social onmy website.
Wait, what?
Never did get coffee social onmy website.
(37:16):
Or we never put videos on onSpotify.
SPEAKER_00 (37:19):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (37:19):
One of these days
we'll get there.
SPEAKER_00 (37:21):
Um, I was gonna say
now it's time for the most
important question of them all.
SPEAKER_01 (37:25):
Yeah, and we have to
go back to the original
question.
unknown (37:27):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (37:28):
Are you team
Jonathan?
Which is the obvious answer.
Wait, you have to go first.
God damn it.
Don't involve God in this.
SPEAKER_00 (37:38):
Darn nebut.
Are you team?
Do I go first?
No, you say your name.
Jonathan.
And then I said, or team me.
SPEAKER_01 (37:53):
And Jonathan.
There's no question about it.
SPEAKER_00 (37:56):
I talk louder than
you, so.
SPEAKER_01 (37:57):
So I I can talk loud
too.
I can get really close to mymic.
SPEAKER_00 (38:01):
You and your fake
roadcaster.
SPEAKER_01 (38:02):
Mine's not fake.
SPEAKER_00 (38:03):
Mine's not fake
either.
I love you, Zoom.
SPEAKER_01 (38:07):
Me, Jonathan.
You gotta say goodbye, JonathanHoward.
SPEAKER_00 (38:12):
Well, we have to say
bye, everyone.
SPEAKER_01 (38:13):
Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (38:14):
Bye, Jonathan
Howard.
SPEAKER_01 (38:16):
Bye, Mimi Langley.
SPEAKER_00 (38:24):
It's done.
Bye.
Bye.
Someone get the fly swatter.
SPEAKER_01 (38:27):
