Steve Marvell (00:00):
Good evening, morning, whatever it is, this is

(00:04):
a crucial survival podcast. Myname is Steve Marvell, and I'm a
survival and rescue specialist.
It's been a while since we'redoing the podcasting. So, having
done 18 months of a video a day,I thought I'd do a bit more
podcasting so that you know, what's going on writing the
book, still, this long process,it's gotta get got to get it

(00:31):
right. But as I've said before, when teaching done is often
better than perfect. So did Iget out a good version of the
book? And then probably do asort of 1.1 version of the book.
Um, so where does that lead?

(00:56):
Well, I'm going to startserialising, the book, in video,
and on podcast, bits and bobs, and we're doing sort of 10
minute survival sort of quitesnappy stuff. And then sort of
turning it turning into acourse, if you're interested. In

(01:18):
course. You can get involvedearly the first time round, I'm
going to do the courses. I'mgoing to be doing them for like,
a pound or something, just justto get some reviews. Yeah, I'm
interested in what what peoplethink these are going to be

(01:38):
online courses. Again, prettymuch serialised in the book
because bulk bill is largelywritten like life course. So if
you are interested in basicallyfree course, then get hold of me
Steve Marvell two L's. And youcan find me from the crucial

(02:01):
survival training page onFacebook. If you can't find me,
you will find me on the crucialsurvival website and find my
email there. So what else? Well,I moved house, set up a studio,

(02:23):
here in the house, got a gardenturned on to do some actual
demonstrations. have moved Scoutgroups. So that's very positive.
It's much more relaxed. And withthe scale to do is quite a few
things. And that sort of informsme about what what people find

(02:47):
interesting certain in families, and, and the like, I'm going to
be posting this on Facebook onthe crucial survival training
page. So I would really, reallylike you to comment on that with
the sort of things that youlike, if you are a family or a

(03:11):
scout or child, or even if youif you're an adult, I'm really
interested in to what it is thatyou found in interesting in the
outdoors and survival andbushcraft and things like that.
So so you can get more of ahandle on what's what's good for

(03:32):
you. And again, gay getinvolved, get involved on this
journey. And and think abouttaking a course giving some
feedback. And so yeah, sir, cando free more podcasts. Make sure
you subscribe. And because I'mgoing to, I'm literally going to

(03:56):
be doing the whole book, insections in nice little snappy
sections on the podcast inadding videos, so subscribe to
the podcast, go and find thecrucial survival training
website. Not website, crucialsurvival training Facebook page,

(04:20):
get on there. And yeah, that'sthat's where you'll find it. And
there's actually a mastermindcommunity to it, but But that's
another matter. I'm going to beopening that up for free access
at your leisure. But uh, butright now, get in, get on the

(04:43):
page. And yeah, what am I goingto talk about first probably
talk about hypothermia aboutheatstroke and how how to deal
with that.
I'm still, my daughter's doingthat. illustrations for the boat
for despite doing a bit of thefirst aid not just a normal

(05:07):
first aid stuff, it's a sort offirst aid when you're on your
own in the wilderness, becauseit's a completely different
kettle of fish working on not alifeboat. It's completely
different trying to put even asling on, in in the wind, whilst

(05:30):
you're moving up and down, maybeeven in the dark. It's just,
it's just an absolute nightmare.
And it's actually worth worthpractising. So things it's going
in the book are the sort of morecritical injuries and
debilitating injuries. So she'sdoing the illustrations for

(05:50):
those that if you've got ideasabout what absolutely should go
in, then let me know, I'll bedoing a list of those on the
podcast. And then there'll bedemonstrations in my new garden
probably. Or some woods that thescouts use. might even ask the

(06:13):
the new scout group, if withsome permission, I could do some
demonstration with those. But inreality, it's all it's all about
being able to cope on your own.
So this first aid Lark is goingto be all about coping on your

(06:36):
own. And how to do that sort ofthing. You just try it now. Go
and find the Blumen triangularbandage in your first aid kit.
And you try and put that onyourself outdoors in the wind in
the dark. So you can do it.
Practice is a practice skill. Itreally is, especially if you use

(06:57):
your non dominant hand. Yeah, absolute disaster. And so, and
you've probably heard me saythis before, but go and do a
bloody first aid class. Becauseit's really, really useful. Take
your whole family, kids in alldo a first aid course because

(07:22):
there's been so many incidentsof kids saving parents lives.
And there are so many thingsthat you can do for yourself and
your family. Without having togo to casualty for four hours.
Waiting for someone to put abandage on your sprained ankle.

(07:45):
Yeah, it's just really, really, there's some really good rules
in there. And this really gooddebt sort of Red, Red Cross or
whatever it might be first daybooks, and it's really, really,
really important that you dothat. That's why I'm limiting
the amount of first day there isin the book to those

(08:07):
debilitating and criticalinjuries. Like major burns, and
major bleeds and, and thingslike that. Even it's broken arms
and sprained ankles, come to agreater extent develop
debilitating. So I am going totry and keep these to 10

(08:32):
minutes. We're eight and a halfat the moment. I'm going to
treat this as a sort ofintroduction. And yeah, if
there's any particular thingsyou want me to talk about when I
post this, there'll be a nicelittle thread. And you can
comment on that. And that wouldbe absolutely fabulous. It means

(08:53):
it makes a great deal ofdifference to me to understand
what it is that you want. Whatdo you find interesting, what
mysteries there are, whatquestions need answering and
what you think everybody elseshould know about. Okay, I'm
getting close to 10 minutes now.

(09:13):
So I'll say goodbye, whereveryou are, and keep surviving. And
I'll speak to you soon.
