Podcast Title:
Breaking Bread Together – A Simple, Accessible Communion Devotional from London, England

Scripture Focus:
Luke 22:19–20, 1 Corinthians 11:23–26, John 6:53–58, Hebrews 10:19–22

Welcome to the Daily Christian Prayer Podcast with Reverend Ben Cooper, broadcasting from London, England, and connecting believers worldwide through RB Christian Radio. In this powerful five-minute devotional episode, we explore the sacred practice of communion at home—breaking bread and sharing the cup in a simple, heartfelt way that strips away unnecessary religious barriers.

Have you ever felt unworthy of taking communion? Or perhaps church traditions and religious authorities have made this profound act feel distant or inaccessible. Today, Reverend Ben Cooper dismantles these walls with a straightforward and loving invitation to reconnect with the heart of what Jesus commanded when He said, “Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). Communion isn’t about perfect settings or elaborate rituals—it’s about remembering Christ’s sacrifice and celebrating His redemptive work.

Reverend Cooper guides listeners through an intimate, unedited communion experience direct from his London studio. He gently reminds us that “it’s just bread, it’s just grape juice, but it’s what it symbolizes that holds the true power.” This devotional emphasises that the elements themselves are simple, yet profoundly symbolic—the bread representing Jesus’ broken body, the cup His blood poured out for redemption (1 Corinthians 11:24–25).

One of the most powerful moments in this episode is addressing the common feeling of unworthiness: “Maybe there is something telling you that you’re not worthy. That is a lie,” Ben assures. “You are worthy because of Him.” This truth liberates listeners from the religious gatekeeping that has prevented many from embracing the blessing of communion. The episode is a beautiful balance of respect for the sacred symbolism while fostering a spirit of accessibility and grace.

Whether it’s been days or months since you last took communion, this devotional creates space for genuine spiritual connection. Thousands worldwide are joining in breaking bread at home, work, or anywhere life finds them—reclaiming communion as a daily Christian practice of faith, remembrance, and unity.

(00:56):
completely different.
Today, wherever you are, I wantto get you to grab a little bit
of bread and a little bit ofwine juice or a bit of grape
juice, whatever you've got there, because we're going to break
bread together and welcome tocommunion at home.
It is simple.
This is straight out the studio.
This is not edited, this is notfine-tuned in any way.

(01:18):
You can hear a bit of noise inthe background, but I'm going to
break bread.
I'm in the studio on my own,but I'm not on my own because
you're with me.
So the Bible says, where two orthree are gathered there.
I am in the midst.
You know.
This is the beauty of JesusChrist.
You know, are you in a churchand what does the church look
like that you're in?
Do you break bread at everyservice?

(01:39):
Because we should be doing thatat every service.
We do this here in this churchevery service, every uh live
stream, every time we meet, youknow, we break bread together
and we just take at a cup.
We don't make this great longreligious service.
What we do, we just do itaccording to the word of god.
Jesus said as often as you cometogether in my name, do this,

(02:03):
this.
What are you doing, jesus?
He's getting a piece of breadand he's getting the third cup
on the table, the Passover table, the cup of redemption.
You know we are redeemed andlet's come to the cross together
in the name of Jesus.
Maybe you haven't broken breadfor a long time.
Maybe there is something inyour church, in your life, maybe

(02:26):
there's something that istelling you that you're not
worthy.
That is a lie.
You are worthy.
None of us is worthy, and youunderstand what I mean, but you
are worthy.
I am worthy because of him.
That is why we are worthy.
You know, none of us will everbe worthy enough to break bread
and take it a cut without him,but with him.

(02:49):
Maybe you haven't broken breadfor a few weeks.
Maybe you haven't had communionfor a few weeks.
Maybe you haven't taken anothercup for a few weeks.
Maybe church and religion hasput you off.
Maybe the priest or theminister has said you can't do
this.
That is not scripture.
I need you right now to grabsome bread and a little bit of

(03:09):
grape juice and sit down andjust spend this time with me me
and you and god, as we get closeto the cross.
You know god is calling you andgod is calling you by name.
Right now, wherever you are, we, we're going to break bread.
I've got this little piece ofbread in front of me.
I'm in this studio in London,in England.
I'm on my own.
You know I'm going to breakbread and I'm going to take it a

(03:32):
cut, but I'm not on my ownbecause you are with me.
Wherever you are, you are withme.
You know we're in thisbeautiful kingdom of God, so
let's break bread.
Father, as I come to you, lord, maybe I haven't broken bread for
a week, two weeks, a month, three months, six months, lord.

(03:53):
Maybe I haven't broken breadfor a really long time, jesus,
but I thank you that time isirrelevant to you because you're
just calling me to come to thecross today.
And, lord, we break bread asthe body of Christ.
And, father, we thank you forthis bread.
It symbolizes your body thatwas broken for me at the cross
of Calvary.
And, lord, I just reflect inthe scripture at this moment and
, father, I thank you that I ama sinner saved by grace and as I

(04:14):
break this bread, together withmy brothers and sisters around
the world, I thank you that I amholding bread and I thank you
for this bread because that'sall it is.
God is just bread and I thankyou for this bread because
that's all it is.
God is just bread.
And yes, lord, it is just bread.
Whoever you are now listening, this is just bread, but it's
what it symbolizes is the power.

(04:36):
So, lord, I recognize that thisbread symbolizes the body of
Christ that was broken for me.
So, lord, right now, I thankyou that your body was broken
and as I take this bread, Ithank you that my sins are gone.
In Jesus' name, amen.

(04:57):
Let's take this cup, let'sgather this cup.
You know this cup.
It's just wine, it's just grapejuice, it's just Ribena, it's
just a red coloured substance.
That's all it is in the cup.
But it's not what's in thesubstance of this cup.
It's what Jesus said about thecup it is the redemption cup.
So, come on, come on, myfriends, wherever you are, come

(05:19):
on, my brother and sister, let'sbreak bread together.
Now.
We've broke bread, now we'regoing to take it a cup.
Let's take it a cup togetherright now.
Father, I thank you for this cupbecause it symbolizes the blood
of Jesus.
It symbolizes redemption.
And, lord, I'm a sinner savedby grace, and I'm not worthy.
I'm not worthy in my own, but Iam worthy because he is worthy.

(05:40):
So we are worthy.
So those, lord that haven'ttaken a cup for a long time,
lord, bring them into the fold, bring them into the sheep pen
and let them know, lord, they'reokay.
So, sister and brother, whereveryou are, let's take this cup
now, the third cup on the passover, not the first, not the

(06:01):
second, not the fourth, but thethird cup on the Passover table.
And that third cup representedredemption.
You are redeemed, I am redeemed.
Let's take this cup.
Lord, will you bless me?
Will you wash me and cleanse mein the blood of Jesus, from the
crown of my head to the sole ofmy feet, in Jesus' name, amen.

(06:25):
You know, it's that simple.
It is so simple.
