Harriet Lovelock is a brilliant woman that sees the world in numbers and facts. Hoping to make a name for herself in the world of academia, by proving a theorem that has remained unsolved for centuries. Unfortunately for her it’s a world unwelcoming to women of any kind. But Harriett won’t let that stop her from achieving greatness and leaving behind a legacy License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen that she can be proud of. Seeing an opportunity to free herself of the tedious requirements of a lady of her status, she makes a deal with the towns infamous rake Thomas Drake a proposal of marriage, knowing of his unwillingness to settle down with any one woman she offers him the freedom to bed whoever he likes while Harriet gains the freedom to continue her research unburdened by polite society's demands. Thomas, who, in order to save his family’s estate from great debt, agrees to the partnership with the unusual Lady Harriet, but makes a vow to not spoil her innocence with his dark proclivities. But he soon finds that he may have taken on more than he can handle. With her rather unusual behavior, her constant obsession with mathematics and formulas, her unwillingness to eat or drink when deep in research and her affinity for saying whatever comes to her head, she is unlike any lady he has encountered thus far. But despite all that he finds that her company and conversation is something he desires almost as much as her touch, can he keep his promise to leave her unsullied or will his desire for the clever woman that he has gotten to know and care for cause him to break his vow?
