SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
A deep change in the
way that we live requires a deep
change in the way that we think.
I'm Carla Reeves, and this isdifferently.
This episode today is for you.
If you are or have been feelinga little stressed, fearful, or
filled with uncertainty aboutour future, you're not alone, my
(00:24):
friend.
And I think many of us feel thisway, including me.
And the key is, I think, in thisparticular time is to be aware
of the impact it has on you inyour precious life, um, staying
in fear.
Because there's so much impactwhen you stay in fear.
I'm not going to describe all ofthat because I know that you
(00:45):
probably know it, like I do.
And maybe you've been sensingGod trying to get your
attention.
And maybe even that feels alittle uncertain about what to
do with that.
If this is new to you, I havebeen here too.
I don't talk directly about myfaith a lot on this podcast, but
I want to speak to it todaybecause of the incredible peace
(01:09):
that it has brought andcontinues to bring to my life.
Religion has repelled so manypeople away, including myself,
during an earlier season of mylife.
But I could never deny theexperience of God that I had
over and over and over againfrom the time of being a little
girl.
(01:30):
And over the past couple ofyears, I think it was a couple
of years ago, I heard somethingthat really changed how I saw it
all.
Somebody said, Jesus didn't cometo make Christians, He came to
invite us into a kingdom.
And that is the truth that I seenow and experience now.
And what's even better is thatas believers, we have access to
(01:54):
every spiritual blessing in theheavenly realm to walk through
these hard things and hard timeson this earth.
And if you haven't already, youknow, considered that or thought
of that or experienced that, isn't that exciting or
intriguing?
Like something you want to movecloser to, something you want to
(02:14):
consider, something you mightask God to show you or reveal to
you.
If there was ever a time, myfriend, it's now.
While the world invites us to bedistracted by all the scary
news, the scary weather we havehad, and all the other worldly
things that are happening.
(02:34):
I, contrary to what your mind isgoing to want to tell you, this
is when you want to increase thepriority on doing things that
calm your mind, that center you, that ground you, that remind you
of who you are and what you'reup to.
Those things become more andmore important.
I work with clients who come into coaching really often
(02:57):
paralyzed by their own thoughtsand fear.
And I recently had a clientdiscover in her journal that she
was playing defense in her lifeinstead of offense.
That just really struck me.
One, I got really excited by theidea that yes, that's what I
teach people to do all theseyears.
(03:18):
I've been teaching people toplay offense in their lives.
And so, how about you, friend?
Are you playing defense oroffense?
What would it look like to playmore offense in your life?
I can tell you for me what thatlooks like.
It looks like fighting for thelight, fighting to for my
(03:40):
marriage.
It looks like, and I use theword fighting, but I don't
really mean that energetically, fighting, but like really
standing for, standing for thelight, seeking the light,
turning towards the light, posturing my heart to the light,
and posturing and standing andseeking to stay in the light
(04:00):
when there's a lot of darknessaround.
It looks like um spending aweekend this last week, I had a
lot of nervous energy and I hada lot, also had a lot of just
loose ends.
And so we decided to make theweekend about completing loose
ends around our home.
And that was so incrediblyhelpful to just close the loop,
(04:25):
complete projects, um, get ridof clutter in the house.
We have a guest coming, andthat's always a good reason to
do that.
Dusting, deeper cleaning to freeup energy that I can pour into
my family, into my marriage, into my clients.
We don't realize it, but theselittle incompletions in our
(04:45):
lives often rob our mood andenergy without us even realizing
it.
And so you may, your mind maywant to tell you like, how could
you be doing that when there'sterrible things going on in the
world?
But often we can't control a lotof what is happening in the
world, but we can control ourown environment, both our
(05:05):
external environment and ourinternal environment.
And that can make such aprofound impact on your own
energy, the wake that you leavebehind you as you're navigating
relationships and working onprojects and working with
colleagues.
That has such a positive impactwhen you take care of your own
space internally and externally.
(05:28):
So it can look like filling mymind with thoughts and visions
that I can turn myself towards, aim towards, align my actions
towards instead of letting theworld do that for me.
How about you, friend?
What would offense in your lifelook like today?
Grab your journal and explorethis for yourself.
(05:48):
This is a really great prompt tojust take right into your
notebook.
And if you need a journal or aguide to help you get started,
grab a copy of the Differentlyjournal for yourself.
There's a link in the shownotes.
Get one for a friend too whileyou're at it.
I am holding the possibility andenvisioning a journal on every
(06:09):
nightstand to help people walkin this world.
God met me on the pages of myjournal 20 plus years ago,
continues to do that today, andGod wants to meet you there too.
