SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
A deep change in the
way that we live requires a deep
change in the way that we think.
I'm Carla Reeves, and this isDifferently.
Hey, I'm so glad you're back.
The conversation I want to havetoday continues from the
Differently Journal.
I have been shipping these out,and it makes my heart so happy
(00:22):
every time I ship one to you.
Um, God put this message on myheart so long ago of quiet your
mind, listen within, and writefrom your heart.
And as the world gets louder, this message seems to be more
and more important in my lifeand those around me.
(00:44):
I just heard from someone verydear to me who received the
journal in their mailbox thatit, coupled with the timing of
other things in their life, hasnudged them to do life
differently, to turn away from apattern in their life, to heal
so that they can live their bestlife and experience more fully
what God has in store.
(01:06):
And this is the conversation Iwant to have with you today.
I see it with my privatecoaching clients just about on
the daily.
This world wants to distract us.
This world wants us to numb outthe pain that we may feel
inside.
And we all have that on somelevel or another.
(01:26):
This world wants us to stay busywith other things so that we
don't have to address what'shappening underneath the surface
because sometimes it feelsscary.
Um let me ask you though, how isthat going?
I want to take you inside thedifferently journal today.
Whether you go buy a copy ornot, um, this is a framework
(01:48):
inside of the journal uh that isnot only for your writing, but
for your life.
We are living in veryinteresting times and the world
is changing fast.
And it's time that we be moreawake to our inner lives.
And maybe that's a conversationyou've never even been a part of
or thought of or been taught.
(02:10):
But it's time that we get moreresponsible for tending our
inner world, our thoughts, ourfeelings, our emotions, our
soul.
Um because we are in a place, Ibelieve, that we need to fight
for the light within ourselvesand in our lives.
Um, if you already havepurchased a journal, yay, I'm so
(02:32):
glad.
And I hope that theseconversations fuel your writing
practice and your life.
I hope the podcast is a great umcompanion to the journal.
But I want you to remember, forthose of you who maybe still are
on the fence about writing, Ijust want to remind you this
(02:53):
isn't about being a writer.
You don't have to be a goodwriter.
It's not about writing everyday.
It's not another thing to put onyour to-do list.
This is not homework.
This is a tool for managing yourmind, which is going to help you
to have more freedom, creativity, and agency to manage
(03:13):
and navigate your life on adaily, hourly basis.
The framework that is in thisjournal is the same framework
that is a baseline foreverything I do inside of
private coaching with a client.
And you can learn to do this inyour own life.
And it begins with yourthinking.
(03:34):
So many of us get stuck in asurvival way of thinking, and we
get this kind of thinking overlong term can cause us to feel
resigned that this is just theway life is, this is just the
way I am, and we lose hope foranything better.
This is the first lie you haveto address in your mind.
(03:57):
Your survival way of thinking, and we all have one, um, is just
a routine way of thinking thatliterally got developed,
probably when you were veryyoung, that literally helped you
to survive your environment atone time.
But it's also likely the verything that is in your way of
(04:18):
experiencing more of what youwant today, whether that's
feeling more peace or havingfulfillment or more purpose or
connection in your life, whatever it is.
It's like we think that ourcircumstances need to change,
but it's really our thinkingthat has to change first.
And then what's awesome aboutthat is that we can start to
(04:41):
feel different and experienceour life different without our
circumstances even changing.
But that's the beginning of thatwill all eventually ripple to
your circumstances shifting,also.
So just acknowledging andlooking around your life and
kind of asking, being curious, like, am I in a survival way of
(05:03):
thinking or operating in mylife?
Like, just be curious becausethat may be an entry point that
you've been looking for.
This is where we start incoaching, and this is where we
start in the guide that is inthe differently journal for the
reason that you must get out ofsurvival to create something new
(05:25):
and sustainable in your life.
And your thoughts are thefoundation to this.
Um, writing is a way to manage, see your thoughts, and
eventually invent new ways ofthinking so that you can walk
through this life exactly theway it is right now, with more
peace of mind, even when thingsare hard, are noisy, and are
(05:49):
chaotic in the outer world.
God makes a way for us.
He's given us innate abilitiesto use our minds and use our
thoughts and create.
Um, he met me on the pages of myjournal 20 plus years ago and
still does.
And God is ready to meet youthere too.
(06:10):
