Chapter 67 Summary

Bravo completes the physically demanding task of filling and stacking thirty steel drums inside the warehouse, arranging them into a dense wall of water-filled containers. As darkness falls, exhaustion and time pressure set in. With Derek expected to return soon, Bravo realizes he will not have enough time to install the lighting and electrical systems he had planned for the evening, forcing him to shut down operations earlier than intended.

As Bravo prepares to leave, an unexpected vehicle arrives at the warehouse. Recognizing that it is not Derek, Bravo instinctively hides and observes from a distance. The man who arrives attempts to unlock the warehouse door but fails, growing increasingly angry during a phone call in which he reveals he believes he has been given the wrong key. Bravo quickly realizes the man is a prospective lessee, and the encounter threatens to expose his presence and derail his carefully laid plans.

Meanwhile, Jennifer finishes reviewing GenaSeed’s latest media campaign and conducts deeper research into the company’s legal history. She uncovers a troubling pattern of lawsuits involving farmers, environmental violations, and bribery scandals, cases that GenaSeed consistently survives through legal maneuvering and overwhelming financial power. Despite damning findings in several rulings, the company emerges largely untouched, leaving Jennifer shaken by the sheer scale of its influence.

Jennifer contacts Tony to share her concerns, questioning whether it is even possible to defeat a corporation with such vast resources and political support. Tony acknowledges the imbalance but reaffirms his mission, explaining that his goal is not outright victory but exposure, forcing the truth into the open until public awareness eventually weakens GenaSeed’s dominance. Their exchange reinforces the theme of confronting a seemingly invincible adversary through persistence rather than power.

Back at the warehouse, Bravo watches as the frustrated would-be tenant storms off, throwing the key away and abandoning the deal. Realizing the building’s owner will likely inspect the warehouse in the morning, Bravo understands he has no choice but to act immediately. He contacts Derek, cancels his pickup, and commits to staying overnight to finish his work. With time running out and discovery imminent, Bravo shuts off his phone and prepares to execute his plan before it is too late.
