One of the area’s signature events is the Eau ClaireMarathon, and race director Emi Uelman joins us ahead of the 2024 race weekend April 26-27th. Orchestratedby nearly 1,000 volunteers and drawing in participants locally, regionally and nationally the race weekend has an economic impact of over $5 million to the Chippewa Valley.
Emi talks to us about why they go to the effort to make thisan “event” and not simply a race…who are the people who run in the marathon (short answer, its complex 😊)…therace’s connection to the Boston Marathon…and how the spectator involvement has organically grown and truly been what makes the weekend.
