SPEAKER_00 (00:37):
It's Mark.
Welcome back.
Next edition of the EmployeeSurvival Guide, where I tell you
what's on my mind, what youremployer does not want you to
know about.
I've been thinking a lot abouthow you really have no control
of your work, how we've justaccepted the way employers want
us to behave.
They set the rules for us.

(00:57):
They tell us how to act.
They tell us what the game is.
We all just just take it.
Like, why?
I mean, even at the federalcourt level, we just take it.
The level of biased approach toemployees is rampant.
Why do we continue to acceptthat norm?
Like, you know, like we can't doanything about it.
No one really wants to talkabout it.

(01:18):
Very few lawyers will actuallydo what I'm doing.
Actually, I look for them.
I actually search for people oflike-minded people, attorneys
like myself, and there are veryfew who will challenge a status
quo and say that the way we workis just insane.
It's bizarre.
And we all react.
We hear these news reports aboutme too, or this, that, and we

(01:38):
start to form a movement and itgoes away.
It's because employers suppressit.
Employers do a lot of things tomake it easier for them to rule
us.
They rule with an iron fist andthey're little private
governments that they run.
Billions and billions ofdollars, all intended to keep
you in line.
Union activity, forget about it.
That's ridiculous.
Unions are less than 2% of thepopulation of employees.

(02:01):
Everybody else is an at willemployee.
And that's intended.
It's intended to bedecentralized, so you can't
organize yourselves.
You can't, you know, uhcollectively get together.
That's has to change.
You're all too scared shitlessto do that.
Well, maybe you start listeninga little bit more.
Maybe you start to be aggravatedby what I'm saying to you and do
something about it.

(02:21):
These things you have, such asuh non-compete agreements and
non-disclosure agreements,forced arbitration, at will
employment, all these things aredesigned to suppress you in a
very undemocratic way.
And so far you're just taking itbecause you don't know any
better.
You're playing the victim role, whatever it is, but you are not
reacting in a very positive way.

(02:42):
You're just accepting it.
So I challenge you to don'taccept it any longer.
See how far you're willing totake it.
How much how much can youcollect with your your
colleagues to stand up forsomething?
Try it.
Don't accept what employers dishout.
It's ridiculous.
It's insanity.
