Since 2020, 750,000 law firms have been cyber-attacked. That statistic explains why the ethics courses that Constance Anastopoulo teaches at Charleston School of Law and UCLA School of Law are so relevant. While some principles of legal ethics remain constant, technology has changed the practice, “and ethics have to keep up with it,” she tells host Paul Bamert.

In this episode, Constance describes potential implications when law firms fail to navigate the intersection of ethics and technology. In the age of the cloud, the law firm and the attorney are 100% responsible for the privacy and protection of their clients’ data. She offers tips for hiring third-party providers (avoid focusing on the cheapest vendor) and new lawyers (ask what they know about the role of technology in the practice). In this evolving landscape, she encourages all lawyers to become familiar with the ABA model rules for professional conduct in their jurisdiction and to take seriously the responsibility of due diligence. Keeping law firms out of the headlines is good for everyone!

Betrayal Season 5

Betrayal Season 5

Saskia Inwood woke up one morning, knowing her life would never be the same. The night before, she learned the unimaginable – that the husband she knew in the light of day was a different person after dark. This season unpacks Saskia’s discovery of her husband’s secret life and her fight to bring him to justice. Along the way, we expose a crime that is just coming to light. This is also a story about the myth of the “perfect victim:” who gets believed, who gets doubted, and why. We follow Saskia as she works to reclaim her body, her voice, and her life.
