need to be paying attention to.
Storyone could salary ranges soon be mandatory?

(00:21):
Let's start with something that could makejob hunting a lot less awkward.
The government is looking at
whether employers should have to includesalary information in job adverts,
and honestly, it's somethinga lot of people have been asking for.
If you've ever spent agesapplying for a job, only to find out
the salary isn't what you expected, you'll know how frustrating that can be.

(00:41):
The proposal could mean employershave to publish either
an exact salaryor at least a salary range.
It won't stop you negotiating, but it does mean you'll have a much better
idea of what a roll is worthbefore you hit apply.
Until then, it's still worthdoing your own research so you know
roughly what jobs in your industryshould be paying.

(01:02):
Story two employers are lookingbeyond qualifications.
feel like I say thisevery week at the moment, but
employers are putting moreand more emphasis on skills.
A new governmentbacked tool called the UK Skills Explorer
helps break down jobs into the skillsthey actually require.
And we're not just talking about technicalskills.

(01:24):
Thingslike communication, teamwork, leadership
and problemsolving are becoming just as important.
That's great news because it meansthe skills you've picked up through part
time jobs, volunteering, universitysocieties, or even sports club or count.
The challenge is learninghow to talk about those experiences
confidently on your CV and in interviews.

(01:46):
Story three prospects wants your feedback.
That's us.
Prospects is asking students, graduatesand school leavers
to share what careers advicethey'd actually find useful.
It's easy for careerscontent to be created about young people,
but it's so much more usefulwhen it's created with young people.

(02:09):

Story for the railindustry wants more young people.
Let's talk about careersyou might not have considered.

(02:30):
The UK's rail industry has launchedsomething called the Rail Youth Promise.
The aim is to get more 16 to 24 year oldsinto rail careers
through apprenticeships, student programs and work experience
and know it'snot just about becoming a train driver.
There are opportunities in engineering, project management,
digital technology,finance, customer service.

(02:51):
The list goes on.
It's a reminder that some of the biggestcareer opportunities are in industries
we don't always think about first.
Story five is prestige really worth it?
And finally,if you're choosing a university,
here's something worth remembering.
New student rankings suggestthat the most prestigious universities

(03:12):
aren't always the ones studentsthink offer the best value.
Students are increasinglylooking at things like affordability,
support services, facilities, and overallexperience, not just reputation.
So if you're comparing universities, don't get too caught up in league tables.
Visit open days. Talk to current students.

(03:32):
Look at graduate outcomes and ask yourself
where you'll be happiestfor the next 3 or 4 years.
As always, thank you so much for listening.
