(00:00):
What inspired me was the fact that
during my bachelor's degree,I was writing a thesis on blockchain.
So I suddenly realized how nowadays,
finance, financial sector in general, he'sbeing shaped
by data technology, technologyand digital infrastructure.
So I needed a program that combined both
(00:23):
the two aspects of finance as well as,
I mentioned the innovation of,
you know, the technological perspective.
Welcome to Future You,the student and Careers Advice podcast,
brought to you by Prospects exploreone of the most unique
graduate experiences in Europe.
The Triple Degree Management,Finance and tech.
(00:43):
MSC is a two year program takesyou across three leading institutions.
You'll study managementat Emlyon business school,
dive into technology and innovationat POLIMI Graduate School of Management
and Master of Finance at BayesBusiness School, formerly Cass Business
School, known for business excellencefor nearly 60 years.
(01:05):
Along the way, you'll also completea six month international internship.
Three schools, three cities,
three master's degrees, all in just two years.
I'm Simone from Italy and I am currentlyattending the triple master's
degree in a management finance attackat my own business school in France,
(01:27):
following me Graduate School of Managementin Milan, Italy and here at Bayes
Business School in London.
So let's talk about the internship.
How does that work?
The internship, first of all, is mandatory.
So basically you need to do itin order to complete the whole master.
And also, happened
(01:48):
in the third firm, as I mentioned before.
So from July to December,
between the end
of the, POLIMIGraduate School of Management
term and the beginning of BayesBusiness School term,
let's say that have tohas to be related to,
finance or management or technology.
(02:09):
So a topic that involves the,
what you have learned beforein this master, of course.
And yeah, in my case,
I think that this has beenthe most interesting fact about it
because, I had the opportunityto actually apply,
what I learned in the termsbefore, like in doing internship.
(02:33):
So to be, it's really great opportunity.
After you completed your internship, what is was there an opportunity,
did you think, oh, I'll apply for theseguys like in another six months or so?
It could be.
I know that, some classmates, will do something like this.
So they got their return offer?
Of course.
(02:54):
After, these, internship,
you receive an evaluation that counts for,for sure in the final grades.
So why not?If the, evaluation is positive?
Mine personally was very positive, but not for that reason.
I won't come back, because I
and this is also, an important for,
(03:16):
for prospective students, very an important aspect to the,
use the internship eventually to test
your direction earlyand to eventually refine your direction.
So this is also a great opportunity.
Yeah.
Did you join this coursewith a direction in mind,
knowing where you would goas soon as you graduate?
(03:36):
Or has that changed things?
Exactly.
That's why I mentioned thesebecause given the fact that you study
so many, subjects,so from the management fields,
finance fields and, technological aspects,
you really understand
so many things, like you realize that there are a lot of
(04:00):
maybe more aspect that you didn'teven know before starting the Masters.
So this is very important.
And so what is your plan?
I assume you're
in the midst of interview land right nowas you come up to graduation.
Where are you hoping to go?
Yeah, my plan is to go in,
M&A and Strategy advisor, and I think that
(04:24):
these masters specifically preparesyou really well for this.
Also because you will get
in touch with, different frameworks.
Corporate frameworksliving across three different countries.
So you really understand how professional,
work in different environments.
(04:45):
And this is very usefulin, strategy as well as, M&A.
Yeah.
So, this is I'm applying for these,
in, different countries across Europe.
What's the most challenging thing about,
learning and workingin three different countries?
Well, it required the constant adaptation,
(05:08):
I would say, because, for example,
the academicsgrading system are different.
In France, Italy,UK, for example, at Emlyon business school,
there is a strong focus on teamworkat Bayes business school.
The main I would saythe main point is about
(05:30):
technical knowledge and technicalknowledge of capital markets.
And, at the POLMI Graduate School of Management,
the quantitative intensity,
especially in, artificial intelligenceand machine
learning, pushes you to think, analytical in.
So it forced me to continuously
(05:52):
adapt to my approach to problems.
And this is very important becauseit helps you to navigate complexity.
And nowadays we live in a very complexworld, especially in financial markets.
So this is very useful.
Yeah. Brilliant.
Why did you choose this course overothers.
(06:13):
What inspired me was the factthat during my bachelors degree
I was writing a thesis on blockchain.
So I suddenly realized how
nowadaysfinance, financial sector in general
he's been shaped by data technology, technology and digital infrastructure.
(06:33):
So I needed a program that combine both
the two aspects of finance on one side.
So strong,
training in terms of, quantitative skills, analytical skills, as well as,
I mentioned to innovation, a,
you know,in the technological of the perspective,
that was the main reason why, I choose,
(06:58):
this program and also I was
looking for, demanding master.
So I always do a suggestion, always do half things.
He's very important in international one.
So he's very important to,
meet new people.
Understand new cultures.
Open.
(07:18):
Open your mind to new things.
And as I said before, the exposure
to, technological innovation.
And what did you do your undergrad?
I studied in Milan,
classic business administration,
bachelor's degree.
(07:39):
So very traditional, individual assessmentbased.
So teamwork was not really a thing.
Yeah. It's really important.
Initially it could be, difficult is not
the it's not really easy, but,is one of the most important thing that,
students and,
(07:59):
young professionals need to knownowadays, in my opinion.
Yeah, absolutely. I agree.
And, have you found that your classmatesdid similar
undergrads to you, or is there arrangers,
undergrads beforecoming into this particular masters?
I think that we almost comefrom the same background.
(08:21):
So economic background.
I'd like to mentionthat we are the first class.
Like, I have this, triple degree.
So I know that in the new,
class of 2025,there is more, diversification
in terms of backgroundand also in terms of nationality.
There's a lot of peoplethat come from outside Europe.
(08:42):
So what advice would you havefor anyone looking to join this course?
Well, if I had to give one piece
of adviceto prospective students would be this.
So be intentional.
The program offers you,a lot of opportunities, but the value
you actually extract from them ishow productively you engage with them. So,
(09:06):
choose your course strategically.
Build relationships across campuses.
Use, mandatory internship to test
and eventually refine your direction.
So this because the triple degreeis not only about,
earning three diplomas, but is about developing the ability
(09:30):
to think across disciplinesand that cross border, as we said
before, and is actually,
allows you to,
create that sort of mindset that in that
prepares you for long term impact,I would say.
And what's beenyour favorite part of the course?
I think I'm really enjoyingto be in London.
(09:52):
Yeah, yeah. What's your favorite thing about London?
It's, it's really incredible to live here.
You knew that every day is like,
you meet new peoplefrom all over the world.
You do tons of activities.
We have been withthe MSA finals, to Frankfurt,
(10:13):
during the, a week ago,
visiting, European Central Bank,
the Frankfurt Stock Exchange,
Allianz Global Investors. So,
the amount of opportunities you have hereis, is impressive.
So, I'm I'm very happy.
(10:35):
Yeah.
And the sun's out now as well, so.
Makes a difference. Yeah. Yeah.
An important aspect.
It is a, complementaritybetween the three different universities.
So, pursuing this map,
this master, actually give the opportunityto access three different,
(10:55):
career services,three different alumni networks,
that actually give a really strong
platform to students, both in UK and continental Europe.
Because I, I mean, I think it's importantto highlight this, this detail because.
Yeah. Yeah. Fantastic.
