Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mel good morning, good morning, thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I was so cute. You're wearing a Gold Coast T shirt.
I know, you know a gold coaster.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
Now she's a Gold Coast goal. Julia Morris bought it
for me as like a congratulations give Isn't that the
sweetest thing ever? A beautiful, beautiful woman. So I was like,
I'm gonna wear it today.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
She's one of the bravest performers in Australia. I reckon
in how she goes about it. Yeah, she's just brave
with everything she does.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
It's a point actually, and she's very raw and honest, which.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Just gives it a go exactly. Now, how are you
enjoying being here?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Oh my gosh, I'm having the best time. I mean
the weather yesterday was a bit spicy, but it's so enjoyable.
I've just been chilling by the beach and going for
walks and I braved surface Paradise.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
I went to Cavil Avenue during schoolies.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I decided i'd get there before they woke up, so
I got there at about nine.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
They might have been going to bed.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I didn't think about that. I was like, maybe nine's
a good spot, so I got. I was there at
nine and then by about ten o'clock it started to
get busy. IM like, yeah, I'm out, I'm leaving out.
I'm going to start walking back.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
The walking to give us the school his report. How
was it looking?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
It was actually better than I thought it was going
to be. But again, nine am, so I'm not going
to brave it later at night.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
You just spoke about the weather being spicy.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, you've had a bit of bad luck with these
elimination nights.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
For goodness sake.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
I'm from Melbourne. I feel like I've brought the weather
with me. But there's a part of me that's just
like home.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Is that you.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
The emergency poncho is really important here on the Gold Coast.
I'm someone that actually celebrates the emergency poncho. So I
guess the only criticism I've actually heard about the show,
to be honest, is the evictions and the no under cover.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, because it used to be where all longtime Gold Coasters.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
There was a whole auditorium that they pulled Apartespecially they're
wishing they left it now.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Tang or something a marquee. Anyone from Bunnings is listening
and they want to give us just like a tarp
that we can put over the stage.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
The world's best pagola. It's an opportunity to get up there.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
But there's a lot of people that have been joking
about get maloof starting a GoFundMe page for that, which
I love. I'm like, yes, let's do it.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I don't even know why you're bothering with nice clothes
and shoes. I think you just need to wear a
raincoat and glosses.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Well, there's a part of me that's Mike Goldman brought
me snorkels I reckon at one point I might whip
those out if if it gets real dire.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Walk out and the flippers just for comedic timing stuff. Okay,
so that's the neck, right. So we've got that out
of the way. The show's going pretty well, and I
like how the mix of people in there, and we've
talked about it here each am real, real people that
aren't high on their socials and that sort of stuff,
so they're not already known and it's not just about
getting likes and having their following vote for them and
(02:49):
that sort of thing.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, well that's what we wanted. We wanted it to
be about. I mean, the original Big Brother experience or
experiment is all about seeing people living together in a
glass house essentially where you could just watch every moment
and the best parts is just the conversation that they have.
So it was very important that it was people from
all walks of life, from you know, different backgrounds, with
different ideas on life, all living together. And it's really
(03:13):
been that this year of just a whole range of
people jumping in the house. And it's been interesting because
I knew who the housemates were before they entered, and
I had my own ideas of who would form friendships
relationships even and I've been surprised, like I did not
pin any of this in my little web of red
lines of who would be friends and who would hook
(03:34):
up just not not what I had pictured at all.
So they're really surprising, which is fun.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Are you connecting with anyone in particular, Like, do you
find because it would be hard for you, We're allowed to,
but you've got to be a little bit more neutral.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Yeah, yeah, it is.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
It is a bit hard, but I do find I'm
one of those people that can find the good in
everyone as well, So I like a lot of them.
For different reasons, but I'm not There's not one particular
person I'm connecting with. I'm just trying to keep very
level headed with it because then when if they are
evicted or when they win, that I can just have
a really balanced conversation with them.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
When are they getting out? What's the timeline? When's the
last person?
Speaker 1 (04:10):
The date is the eighth.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Of December for Christmas. Yes, yeah, we're personally, it's only
a couple more weeks.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Short, Well, you're always going to leave the audience wanting more,
and it sounds like that's exactly.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
What we're doing. Okay, who do you think is going
to win?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
I can't.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
I don't actually know because I had some ideas heading in,
but now it's just fascinating because every day is like
a week in that house, and people's personality is like
the housemates' personalities are evolving and relationships are shifting, and
Australia's perception is also doing the same thing. So I
(04:50):
actually don't know who could win. Ever, you guy's got
any thoughts?
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Do you think people could bring their mask down? Because
you know, and you're going in, you might be trying
to portray something that you think people might want to
see in you. Yeah, but then after time goes on,
you actually let the guard down and expose yourself a
bit more.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Well. It's interesting because even to that point, you know,
one of the things that Mea had said when she
was evicted this week was about Bruce and thinking that
Bruce is holding back, but then this week he went
and did the bb Grand Hotel experience and it just
broke him. So I think being in the house, it's
too hard to keep a guard up for twenty four
to seven. If it was, you know, an edited show,
(05:30):
it would be much easier. But because it's twenty four
to seven of a live stream, audiences are seeing thing.
So I do believe it's hard and Big Brother just
has a way of breaking you in some way.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Would you ever do it? Do you think watching them
you could do that?
Speaker 1 (05:45):
You know what? Initially I thought no, but now I'm
like Man's it seems so fun and a holiday, like
being away from my phone and I just get to
live in a house and my biggest concern is what
is happening with the other house as mates and myself.
It actually feels kind of freeing in a way, So
I think it would be really fine. I don't know.
(06:05):
I know you've got to work for shopping budgets, but
I would love to just not have to worry about
what I'm going to be cooking and like all that
daily stuff.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Responsibility exactly.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
Don't you think that would be one of the best
perks of the whole experience.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Sounds like I've just gone on lad Brokes to see
if you could bet on the winner.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Okah, you can't. That used to happen in hears gone by.
People used to bet on then. But no, there's nothing
coming up on lad Brokes. So I was like, I
wonder who they've picked to win, because they're often right
spot on. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
I don't do any of the gambling stuff, so I can't.
I'm not your gal for that.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Oh good girl. I don't know why I looked at
that way.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
It's an old fashioned name in the heart in the office.
Pull it out and put some cash in.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
I reckon, I tell you do.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Do the sweep stakes. Yeah, great to see your maw.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Thank you so much for having me
