Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's not the news that I wanted to share today,
but Pop, yourg passed away on Saturday someday. He went
into hospital with a lot of pain and at first
we thought like it might be a hip or back,
but then it turned out to be a staph infection.
And the doctors and nurses and staff at Pindara was

(00:22):
so good that they worked so hard around the clock
to treat him. But the pain was really terrible. He
was in agony and the infection markers in his blood
kept on rising. And once we knew what we were facing,
the team had the right antibiotics loaded. And I said
to Dad, Hey, we're in business. Dad, We've found the

(00:43):
bug and we've got the right antibiotics for you now
to help you. Hopefully you'll wake up feeling a lot better,
and you know you've got a chance to fight it.
He was. I was just saying more things to him
and being positive, which he always was in my life,

(01:04):
you know. And he opened his eyes and he tried
to speak, and he couldn't get any sound out of
his voice, but he finally got to say it, and
he said it three times. He was really emotional, and
you could see he looked at me Willow and Ang

(01:25):
was in there and Rosie just arrived and he said,
I love you, I love you, I love you so much.
And that was the last thing Dad actually said, which
was beautiful. The next morning, the infection marks had increased
and I spoke to the doctor when I was in
the car park at Pindhara. The doctor has been outstanding

(01:49):
at looking after Dad and he said, Paul, unfortunately, your
dad is very unwell and he's inexcruciating pain. So I
knew what was next. And so for two days Poppy
G had family surrounding him in love. He took his
last breath at eight thirty one on Saturday night. I'd
like to thank the Gold Case for embracing all our
Poppy G stories and allowing me to share them with you,

(02:11):
because he loved it. He loved people saying hello to
him in the street. Is that Poppy G? Hello, Poppy G.
Someone'd say something under the scenes, and he go, did
you hear that? Thank you to the amazing stuff at
tricare Cypress Gardens. You all meant so much to Poppy
G and our family. You became his extended family and

(02:34):
you loved He loved you very much and I know
you loved him. I've already run into some of you
while i've gone back there over the weekend, and the
team at Pindara your unsung heroes. You tried everything to
make Poppy g better. You then made him relaxed and comfortable.

(02:55):
I miss your dad, but you can finally hold Mum's
hand again. Rest in, please, Poppy Ge. We love you,
Gaily
