I'd love to say it was the first, right, I'm
not that much of a tram nerd. I was probably
about three hours after it opened. A guy who traveled
from Ipswich over just because he was a tram nerd
that wanted to say he'd been on it in the
first day as well. So yeah, there's plenty of tram
nerds out there.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
What about the numbers down at Burley, Like I heard
that Burley was thriving on the weekend since the tram
was open on the Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
Absolutely. Well, the way the platforms exist in the middle
there and the traffic that's all around it, they've got
to manage a lot of people build up on the
platform until the lights change, and all of a sudden
when they do, it's like New York City or somewhere
like that, where all of a sudden, there's this massive
people crossing the road that have been built up on
the actual platform waiting for the lights to change. So
(01:45):
I really do feel like it's obviously been a lot
of pain for people in that four and a half years.
Well it's been getting built, But now that that corridor
is open, it's just like hello over business all the
way down to Burley's. Everyone's going to really benefit from
this massive infrastructure that we've got.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Now, Ryan, was there anybody that turned up and didn't
know like it was the big open day and was
like what's going on here?
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Well, I went with my sister and I was getting
excited and I'm jumping up and down at the start,
going we're making history, We're making history. And there was
the least a handful of people who were just looking
at me, like, mate, I'm just getting to burly heads
because they said I could. I didn't know anything about that.
So there was definitely a handful of us that were
excited and a few people that were wondering, why are
they excited It's just a tram ride. But yeah, no,
(02:28):
I still feel like, yes, we made history yesterday.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
It's so I love this about you and just about
I guess people in general, because I remember I was
like the second person served ever at the first McDonald's
opened in Devenport, lined up overnight, all that kind of
the second verse. Second I didn't they got their first
and we want to Mcronald McDonald watch if you were
the first person.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
I was so upset I didn't win that.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Watch you know you've got that now, Ryan, you were
one of the first ever on the tram. Like a
big congratulations. It's cut and cute at the same time.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Thank you very much. I like to call it the
mighty and it's always good to have a trip on
the Mighty G. I worked out why because people were asking, well,
you have the tram so much, and it's just the
inertia that you get on a tram that you won't
get on a bus like you got a hold when
they say hold on. There's a reason why, because it
just that force that the tram has and when it
gets up a bit of speed as well. On that track,

there's a few spots where that happens. It's just, yeah,
it's a feeling that you don't get on any other
form of tempt.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
You know you're in trouble when you're getting an adrenaline
boost from the tram.

Well, my memory saves me correct.
