Jonathan Cahn (00:13):
The Jewish people
they pray for Messiah to come.
The Messiah is only gonna cometo save his people.
So he will come in the day whenIsrael needs to be saved.
And they will fall.
This is Messiah speaking.
What's gonna happen?
They will fall by the edge ofthe sword and will be led
(00:36):
captive into all the nations.
And Jerusalem will be trampledunderfoot by the Gentiles or
nations until the time of theGentiles are fulfilled.
58 years ago today.
Events in the Middle East weresetting the world on fire, which
has already happened in everyone of our lifetimes that has
happened, where the whole worldwas focusing on what's happening
(00:59):
in the Middle East, particularlyleading to Israel.
And it would all lead to thefulfillment of biblical
prophecy, the restoration ofJerusalem.
Without that, the end cannotcome.
The end times cannot befulfilled.
Prophecy, Messiah cannot come.
Jerusalem, the holy city.
Tonight I want to open up therealm of Jerusalem of end time
(01:20):
prophecy.
Jerusalem and linking to thebook of Revelation and the end
of the age.
Of Jerusalem, it is written inPsalm 87: the Lord loves the
gates of Zion more than all thedwellings of Jacob.
That's Jerusalem.
Psalm 132, it says, For the Lordhas chosen Zion.
Zion is Jerusalem.
It became the name of the wholeland, but it's first Jerusalem,
(01:41):
Mount Zion.
Zion, he chose it, he desired itfor his dwelling place.
This is my resting placeforever.
Here I will dwell, for I havedesired it.
So it was mentioned early on inthe Bible by name when he said
to Moses, the place where I willput my name, that's Jerusalem.
It is the holy city, the placeof God's dwelling, called the
(02:06):
Beit Mikdash or the Holy House, the temple.
Jerusalem, if you're born again, you were born again wherever you
received the Lord, but you'realso born again in Jerusalem
because that's where you weresaved.
You were saved there, and thenwhen you received it,
resurrection, Jerusalem.
Holy Spirit, Pentecost,Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is mentioned more thanany other city in scripture over
(02:27):
800 times in the Bible.
In the New Testament, 142 times.
In the Hebrew scriptures, forsome reason, 666, whatever that
is.
Half of the books of the NewTestament contain Jerusalem in
it.
Two-thirds of the Hebrewscriptures contain Jerusalem,
Zion.
It's called the city of God.
The city they're called Salem,Shalem.
(02:49):
It's called Ariel or the Lion.
It's about lions.
What about prophecy?
Jerusalem is the physicalgeographical key to end time
prophecy.
And that's what we're going toopen up tonight.
Luke 21, 24, he said, they willfall by the edge of the sword.
And the Lord is talking aboutthe Jewish people.
They'll be led captive into allthe nations.
(03:09):
And Jerusalem, when they'recaptive in the nations,
Jerusalem will be trampled downunderfoot until the time of the
Gentiles is fulfilled.
All right, what does that mean?
What is the time of theGentiles?
It's undoubtedly speaking of thedays or the ages when the
Gentile world powers rule theworld, which is basically much
(03:29):
or pretty much all of history sofar.
So here is the age of theGentiles, and it's an amazing
thing because it's saying thatthe age of the Gentiles or the
nations is all linked to asingle city, Jerusalem.
On Jerusalem hangs the entireage, the age of the Gentiles and
the age of the kingdom.
Now Messiah is giving a prophecyof the destruction of Jerusalem
(03:51):
and the leading captive of theJewish people into all nations.
That happened dramatically in 70AD.
When the armies of Rome came inand destroyed Jerusalem and
Israel and took the Jewishpeople captive into the nations,
beginning the most massivedispersion of the Jewish people.
They had already been dispersed, but this was the most massive up
to this day.
(04:12):
That's why Jewish people are inAmerica, because of what
happened.
Rome came in and trampledJerusalem underfoot.
And as far as the Jewish peoplewere concerned, their holy city,
Jerusalem, was trampledunderfoot by one power of the
nations after the next, afterthe next, after the next, for
nearly 2,000 years.
First the Romans, then theEastern Romans called
(04:33):
Byzantines, then the MuslimArabs, then the Muslim Turks,
until the First World War, whenthe British entered the land
under General Alan B.
A Christian, and came into theland and the Turks fled.
And so Jerusalem was stilltrampled down by the nations up
until what happened 58 yearsago.
(04:57):
June 7th, 1967.
Messiah himself prophesied,Jerusalem was set free, given to
Israel, no longer trampledunderfoot.
Now there are those who see thatas the ending of the times of
the Gentiles.
Jerusalem will be trampled downuntil that time is over.
Well, it can't ultimately be so,since according to end time
(05:21):
prophecy, Jerusalem is going tobe trampled down at least one
more time, as by the Antichrist.
Jerusalem is the capital, it'sthe holy city.
Israel is more connected to thatcity than any nation is
connected to any city.
And yet the world refuses, it'sthe only capital the world
refuses to recognize.
(05:42):
They are prophesied to come backto Zion.
Zion, again, land of Israel, butalso is first Jerusalem.
In the prophecies of Messiahhimself concerning the end of
the age, he speaks of Jewishdisciples being in Jerusalem.
He gives them advice.
When you hear this, when you seethis, flee here, pray it's not
on the Sabbath.
The Jewish people, according toBible prophecy, have to be in
(06:05):
Jerusalem before Messiah cancome or come again.
So that happened June 7th.
So this is talking aboutredemption.
He's going to come to die forsins in Jerusalem.
The focus on Jerusalem, but he'sgoing to die for our sins there,
make an end of sin.
Then it talks about prophecy, all prophecy to be fulfilled.
Focus on Jerusalem.
(06:26):
Salvation came from Jerusalem.
It will go back to Jerusalem.
Again, the death, theresurrection, the Holy Spirit,
all came from Jerusalem to yourlife.
You are linked to Jerusalem.
And that brings us to the nextverse.
Verse 27, Daniel.
He shall confirm the covenantwith many for one seven, one
(06:48):
week, one seven.
In the midst of that seven, seven years, he will cause the
sacrifice and the offering tocease.
And for the overspreading ofabominations, he shall make it
desolate until the consummationthat determines, he shall pour
out on desolation.
So it's talking about he is theone who was just mentioned
before.
It said, the people of theprince who will come will
(07:08):
destroy the city.
Well, who destroyed the city?
The Romans.
So the people of the prince whowill come, the prince who will
come will in some way be Roman.
It's talking about theAntichrist.
First clear mention of theAntichrist.
It says, He will make now acovenant with Israel in the
midst of that seven, that lastmissing seven or week of Daniel.
(07:29):
That's seven years.
That is therefore thetribulation.
That's one that you filled up toJesus.
Then there's one missing week.
That's the tribulation.
That's the book of Revelation.
And then it says, in the midstof that seven, divide seven by
half, and you get three and ahalf years.
That goes throughout the book ofRevelation.
The Antichrist will stop thesacrifice of the temple.
(07:52):
That means there will be atemple, and he will desecrate
it.
He will, it says abomination,desolation.
The whole prophecy of theAntichrist and revelation is
centered on Jerusalem.
What he's going to do inJerusalem, and you have to have
Jewish people there, or thisdoesn't work.
There's going to be a temple inJerusalem.
It's yet to come.
(08:12):
The holy city will be trampleddown.
Jerusalem, holy city.
Again, that goes with whatMessiah said.
It will be trampled down untilthe end.
42 months, three and a halfyears.
It says, During that timeperiod, you will have two
witnesses.
Where?
In Jerusalem.
And they will prophesy until theend.
And it says their bodies will bekilled by the Antichrist.
(08:33):
Their bodies will lie in thegreat city.
Which one?
That is, it says where the Lordwas crucified.
Jerusalem.
Jerusalem is at the center ofend time prophecy.
And in order again for this tohappen, remember what Messiah
said?
When you see what Daniel spokeabout, the abomination,
desolation, talking about thedesolation of the temple.
Desecration.
(08:53):
Where's the temple?
Jerusalem.
Paul said the man of sin will berevealed.
And what will he do?
It says he will declare himselfGod in the temple or holy place
of God.
Jerusalem.
You gotta have Jerusalem.
And in Jerusalem, you gotta havea temple.
You can't, you're not gonna havea temple unless you have Jewish
people who are back in Jerusalemto rebuild the temple.
(09:14):
So all of end time prophecy ishanging on Jerusalem and the
Jewish people returning thereagain, June 7th, this weekend,
back.
The Antichrist is linked tothat.
The persecution, theabomination, the two witnesses,
the tribulation, linked to thatdate.
And that brings us to the centerof the battle, the Temple Mount
(09:37):
in Jerusalem.
Because the Temple Mount iscentral in end time prophecy.
The enemy wars over that mount.
Because he knows that all thepurposes are going to focus on
that mount.
The temple, Messiah is going toreign from there.
He's finished when that happens.
That's why, even to this day, there's a war over that Temple
Mount.
That's why the Temple Mountright now is in the hands of
(10:00):
Israel's enemies, even thoughIsrael has sovereignty, they
still allowed it.
And that's why Jewish people arenot allowed to this day to
observe anything of God on thatmount.
That's where all everything wasto be observed.
They're not allowed to.
That's why even the rumor thatJewish people may go up there to
pray or observe something of Godcan send the whole region, the
(10:20):
land, and the world into anuproar, even a world war.
Why?
Because the enemy is going to gocrazy to stop anything happening
on that mount that has to dowith God, because that's his
end.
Next key of end time prophecywith Jerusalem.
If you have your Bible,Zechariah 12.
Very important.
Verse 1 (10:38):
the burden of the Lord,
the word of the Lord for Israel,
thus says the Lord, whostretches out the heavens and
lays the foundation of theearth, forms the spirit of man
inside of him.
Behold, I will make Jerusalem acup of trembling to all the
nations round about.
And when they lay siege againstJudah and Jerusalem, I will make
(11:00):
it a cup of trembling.
In that day I will makeJerusalem an immovable stone, a
burdensome stone for all thenations, and all who try to move
it, all who burden themselveswith it, will be cut, will be
injured, they will injurethemselves.
Even though all the nations ofthe earth will be gathered
together against it.
(11:20):
What is it saying?
In the last days, all thenations, well, the Bible says,
all the nations will be focusedon Jerusalem.
Israel, but Jerusalem.
The nations will try to moveJerusalem.
And those who do so try will beinjured by it.
(11:41):
Again, Jerusalem, center of endtime prophecy.
The whole world is going tofocus on it.
But the Bible says in the lastdays, the whole world's going to
be focused on Jerusalem.
And the thing is, as long as theJewish people weren't there, the
world pretty much didn't careabout it for most of the time.
As soon as the Jewish peoplestarted coming back to it, the
(12:02):
world all of a sudden startedgoing crazy about Jerusalem.
Why?
Because it's the enemy behindit.
The enemy knows.
The enemy knows that when theJewish people return to
Jerusalem, it means somebodyelse is also going to return to
Jerusalem.
That is why.
How do you move a city?
You can't move a city.
(12:23):
What it means is you change theborders, you change the
sovereignty.
We say this is not yoursanymore.
And that's exactly what thispresent world is trying to do.
This is total the world fallingin line with biblical prophecy.
Less than a year ago, the UnitedNations, speaking of the
(12:44):
nations, the Bible speaks aboutit, passed a resolution
declaring that much of the landthat Israel rests on is illegal
and specifically citedJerusalem.
So the United Nations saysIsrael has no right to
Jerusalem.
It's illegal.
And they passed this resolutiondeclaring Jerusalem illegal and
(13:05):
other places, but the vote wassomething like 124 nations for
it.
And how many said no?
14.
124 verses 14.
The Bible says the nations ofthe world.
The UN then was giving Israel 12months to get out of Jerusalem.
The Bible says the nations rageand the Lord laughs.
(13:26):
The UN.
It's amazing because the Biblesays those nations that try to
move Jerusalem are going toinjure themselves.
The UN in the last period oftime has issued more resolutions
condemning little tiny Israelmore than any other nation in
the world.
It has passed more resolutionscondemning Israel than all the
(13:48):
nations on planet earthcombined, times two.
It makes no sense.
Except end time prophecy saysit's going to happen.
And because there's a spiritualwar there, and that is what
began.
But the prophecy goes furtherthan that.
(14:08):
It's not only that the nationsof the world are going to seek
to move Jerusalem, but they'regoing to come against Jerusalem,
Israel, they'll converge todestroy it.
The whole world against Israel, the whole world against
Jerusalem.
Why?
Because Jerusalem is the city ofGod.
It doesn't make any sense anyother way.
And in America, for the firsttime across our college
(14:31):
campuses, it was the young whowere leading this, which says
that if they don't get saved orthere's not revival, that's the
future.
Even of America, it says thenations will come against
Israel.
But more than that will happen.
Because the Jewish people, theypray for Messiah to come.
But Messiah is only going tocome to save his people.
(14:55):
So he will come in the day whenIsrael needs to be saved and the
world needs to be saved.
He came the first time to saveus from sin.
That could be any time.
But he's coming the second timeto save from destruction.
And so he will come in that day,but they're just going to be
surprised who it turns out tobe.
It's going to be a big surprisewhen they realize it's Jesus is
(15:17):
their long-awaited JewishMessiah.
Hey, if you're enjoying thisvideo, hit like and share it
with others.
Little things like hitting likeand sharing it will help us
reach more people for the Lord.
Now back to the message.
Which brings us to the next keyof the prophecy, Zechariah 12,
10.
And I will pour out, Lordspeaking, I will pour out the
(15:40):
house of David and the those whoindwell Jerusalem the spirit of
grace and supplication, so thatthey will look upon me, whom
they have pierced, and they willmourn for him as for an only
son.
They will weep bitterly over himlike the bitter weeping of a
(16:02):
firstborn.
They, what's that?
I will pour out my spirit onthem in Jerusalem and the house
of David, so that they will lookupon me whom they have pierced.
Wow.
The people of Israel are gonnaturn to their Messiah when they
(16:22):
realize who their Messiah is.
They will look upon me whom theyhave pierced.
Who is the one talking?
The Lord is talking, he'salready identified.
The Lord, Yahweh, the I am istalking.
And he says, Amazing, I havebeen pierced by them.
Amazing.
The Lord in Hebrew, Yahweh, pierced, the eternal God,
(16:46):
creator, pierced.
They're mourning for the onethey pierced.
What does that mean?
If you mourn for the one youpierced, it means a total change
of heart.
So now the Jewish people, theone that they saw as an enemy,
they're gonna embrace as a lovedone, their family.
Jesus of to them, of theGentiles, is the God where they
(17:10):
were persecuted in his name, butthey're gonna realize it's
Yeshua, their own Messiah, theirbrother, their redeemer that
they've been waiting for.
From the books of Moses onward,it says that in the last days,
the Jewish people are gonnareturn to the Lord, turn to the
Lord, but nothing can be sodramatic as this picture when
they're gonna actually mourn forthe one that they pierced.
(17:33):
Total turning, totalrevolutionary turning.
The modern messianic revival ofJewish people coming to the Lord
was born out of the moving ofthe spirit and the gospel in the
Jesus movement, particularly onthe West Coast.
The Jesus movement was born outof what was called the summer of
love.
And many people they startedgetting saved who came there.
(17:56):
Much of that was centered on SanFrancisco.
You know, the Jews for Jesus wasborn in San Francisco around
that time.
It's striking because the Biblesays the Jewish people will be
scattered to the ends of theearth and then they will return
to the Lord.
Interesting because where's SanFrancisco, California?
That from Jerusalem, it's theend of the earth.
It's you keep going, it's thefarthest part you can go, west.
(18:18):
If you're scattered west, theother side goes to Russia.
So here from the ends of theearth, they began.
This movement began.
Jewish people, the modernmessianic revival was born out
of the Jesus movement.
When was the Jesus movementborn?
In the late 1960s.
When more specifically?
The year 1967.
(18:39):
Same year that Jerusalem wasrestored.
So as the Jewish people returnedto Jerusalem, it set in motion
the return of the Jewish peopleto Messiah.
When exactly did the Jesusmovement begin?
In June 1967, the same month.
(18:59):
First came the six-day war atthe beginning of the month, then
came the summer of love, whichgave birth to the Jesus
movement.
The very same year and month.
So the return of the Jewishpeople is central in the Bible
end time prophecy.
And that may open up anotherrealm of the times of the
Gentiles.
It's written in Romans 11, Paulsaid, I don't want you to be
(19:21):
unaware of this, brothers andsisters.
I don't want you to beuninformed about this mystery.
So you don't become conceited inyour own estimation.
But a partial hardening has comeover Israel until the fullness
of the Gentiles has come in.
And so all Israel will be savedas it is written.
The Redeemer will come.
Beginning of the age, you hadJewish believers, Jewish
(19:42):
apostles, Jewish disciples ofthe church leading their.
Where were they?
Jerusalem.
That's where it all started.
That's where it's all going toend.
The Jewish believers were inJerusalem, but when Jerusalem
was destroyed, the Jewish peoplewere scattered, and the Jewish
believers started disappearingfrom the church.
So now you have Jerusalem comingback, and you have Jewish people
reappearing in the church, andJew and Gentile together as one
(20:05):
in the church.
And the church coming back toits roots at the same moment.
See if everything else isreturning, then there's got to
be another return.
Zechariah 12, continuing, says,In that day, the Lord will
defend the inhabitants ofJerusalem.
Verse 9, it will come to pass inthat day, I will seek to destroy
(20:26):
the nations that come againstJerusalem.
The final war, final showdown isgoing to center where?
On Jerusalem in the end.
All nations, that's when Godshows up.
When Hitler rose up, God usedAmerica and the Allies to defeat
him.
But on the end, at the end, there's not going to be any
nation to defend Israel.
(20:46):
That's when God will show up.
That's when he'll come on thestage.
When the author comes on thestage, here you know the play is
over.
He's going to come on the stage,he will fight for his people.
It says in Zechariah 14, now, verse 2, I will gather all
nations against Jerusalem tobattle.
All nations.
It doesn't even say againstIsrael.
It says Jerusalem, and the citywill be taken.
(21:10):
Women ravished, half the city gointo captivity, and the remnant
of the people shall not be cutoff from the city.
But then it says, Then the Lordshall go forth and fight against
those nations as when he foughton the day of battle.
And then it says this.
Listen, next verse.
And his feet will stand on thatday on the Mount of Olives.
(21:31):
The Mount of Olives will splitin half, and his feet will
stand, whose feet?
It says, the Lord's feet willstand on the Mount of Olives.
That's kind of reminiscent ofsomething.
How did Messiah end his time onearth, his mission?
Acts 1, when they came together, they asked us, Lord, is it at
this time you're going torestore the kingdom to Israel?
He didn't say, No, no, God'sfinished with Israel.
(21:53):
It's not replacement theology,everybody.
No, he said it's not for you toknow when.
And he spoke and he said, Butyou Go forth by the Spirit and
you spread the gospel to theend.
And when he spoke these things, while they were looking at him,
he was taken up, and a cloudreceived him out of their sight.
And they were staring intoheaven, as we would.
(22:13):
Staring into the sky.
Two men were standing by, hadwhite garments on.
They said, Men of Galilee, whyare you gazing?
Why do you stand gazing up intothe sky?
This same Yeshua, Jesus, who wastaken from you into heaven, he's
coming back the same way.
And then he will come, then hewill reign from where?
From Yerushalayahim.
(22:34):
That is, he is the king ofJerusalem, and he's your king.
Whatever happens to Jerusalemgoes out to the whole earth.
Whatever happens to Israelaffects the whole world.
When they find peace withMessiah, the whole world will
find peace with Messiah.
That's when the times of thenations or the Gentile kingdoms
will come to an end, whenMessiah will reign.
Now listen from what we haveseen tonight now.
Listen to what Daniel saw.
(22:56):
Listen to it.
One like the Son of Man comingon the clouds and coming where?
To the Mount of Olives, andthere he was given dominion
forever.
Who would do that?
Only the Lord could havedominion forever.
Only the Lord could have akingdom that is forever.
But it says this is one like theSon of Man, Messiah, and that
kingdom will rule the earth fromJerusalem.
(23:16):
Jerusalem.
That is why the world is ragingagainst the coming back of
Jerusalem.
Because the enemy knows what'scoming.
The enemy knows that this is thebeginning of the kingdom.
And the old doesn't want thenew.
The kingdom of darkness broughtto the end.
That'll bring this home.
If we had heard all these thingsyears ago, by the laws of
(23:38):
history, Jerusalem should begone, with the city of Troy and
Thebes and Nineveh and Babylonshould be dust, but God said it.
And that's why Jerusalem is backin the modern world.
That's why it's actually a citythat all the nations of the
earth have to deal with.
Not only that, but the focus ofthe world is on it, as God said
(24:01):
it would be.
The Jewish people are back.
Jewish believers are thereworshiping God, worshiping
Messiah.
You can go there today and seethe words of the prophets alive.
It's a miracle.
It's a double miracle that yougot Israel and Jerusalem.
And it happened at a time whenyoung people were heading to San
Francisco for the summer oflove.
(24:22):
There was a war raging inVietnam.
Johnson was president.
People were protesting.
The Beatles were coming out withSergeant Pepper, I believe that
same month.
With all that going on, God, theGod of the Bible, was fulfilling
his ancient scripture in themidst of the world because
nothing stops the purposes ofGod.
For Messiah to come again.
