Speaker 1 (00:00):
First off, guys, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families
if you celebrated, if you don't, happy holidays. Very thankful
for uh this job one, and thank you for y'all.
You know, the work that y'all do is tough. Having
the right and and and makeup store. I'm just kidding,
but having to do the work that you do, put
(00:21):
in the work, that's that's tough stuff. So we appreciate y'all.
We thankful for y'all because y'all stories help us get
paid more. It keeps the fans engaged, so we appreciate that.
But blessings and prosperity to all y'all through. Yeah, I'm done.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
I'm trying if the darts back this week? Are you
wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Too, I'm whatever this team requires me to be. No,
but uh, that was that was fun.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
It was fine.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
We we We are just looking forward to having a
great matchup against the New England Patriots on Monday.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
What's been the reaction to that?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Like that that play in particular threw a lot of
reaction with what kind of feedback have you gotten?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Text messages?
Speaker 1 (01:04):
I think man, just you know, wow, Like I think
that's been the biggest thing, you know. But uh, I
consider myself a football player, and I think when it
comes to plays being made like that, I think about
motor making that block for gunner to step up and
throw me that.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Ball to give me a chance.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Like I think about collectively how we all played played
a role into it in that and uh and and
we just I finished it. I finished the that broke
the tackle, and my dance was amazing. You need to
go back and actually watched the dance. I did a
little soul train line, finished up with a popular boss
it up and that's Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
But it was good. It was fun.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Wearing gloves in that game have anything to do with
the fact that you knew you were gonna have to
catch a couple of passes.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
No, No, last time I was in Detroit, I wore
gloves and I threw like four hundred yards. Uh so
I was I was feeling that energy and I wanted
to do that again and I was close.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
Just we elsewhere the first time. I don't think you
were in the previous week, did you.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
No, I ain't won the previous week. No, just just
in Detroit. Yeah, I might bring them out this week.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
It's two for two now.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
And we wanted the last time. I don't know, I
go back to you trot, I probably pull him out.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, what's your mindset for this week?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Knowing that you know, Jackson stille and technically in a
concussion protocol, but the.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Same same preparation, like doing put in the work the
same way. You know. Obviously I saw it all with Thanksgiving.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I think that I'm very grateful that calf has allowed
us UH to have this type of schedule because we're
playing a Monday night football game. We gotta be in
here practicing, working hotail of preparing for this moment. This
is one of the best teams in football, you know,
So I'm not taking it lightly just because I'm gonna
have a few colored greens and and uh, you know,
(02:50):
sweet potato, some yeams on my stomach. You know, we
still got to go to work and uh, and I'm
grateful for this opportunity.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
My wife, man, she makes some kill collar greensh some
she got a little you know, her family from New Orleans,
so she makes a nice creole dressing.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
And one of her cousins or aunties, she always ship
us some gumbo for us to start off the day
with some gumbo. So man, it's a beautiful thing. Taysom
Hill put me on this, on this turkey. I'm not
a particularly a ham person, but Taysom Hill put me
on this Uncle Ray's turkey. They shipped this turkey right
to Yo dough. You pop that thing in the oven,
and I'm talking of it is suckulent. That thing is juicy.
(03:34):
It's spicy. Oh my gosh, it's amazing you gotten.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
To see one day now on the field for these
last two games, obviously playing with him, but just what
have you seen from him as being so much so
reliable when you need to throw the ball, he's there.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I just think one day he's a dog like anyway
you put it, I think he's been overcoming like those
boundary markets that people have been placed on him his
entire career in terms of his height, in terms of
what he possesses, in terms of like the complete package.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
As a receiver. But what he does is gets gets open.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
He beats man the man coverage, and he makes plays
with the ball in his hands and you can only uh, like,
I feel like that's what you want in a prime
number one target, someone that has great hands, and can
do something with the ball in their hand. And I'm
just so happy to have been able to connect with
him the past few weeks and just watch him prepare
(04:23):
and the way that he comes to work and the
chip that he has on his shoulder every single day
to get better Chamis.
Speaker 7 (04:29):
Obviously there's limitations on what dark could you in the
practices while he was in the concussion while he's in
the concression protocol? But what have you seen behind the
scenes that we don't see, Like as in the meetings
and questions to you, you can talk to whim, we can't, like,
what have you seen it?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well, we're still having the same conversations that we would
have any given week. I think he's locked in to
that point. I mean last week, man, he was he
was determined to play. It's just the NFL has a
straight protocol and that's what happened. You know. I was grateful,
But at the same time, you know, I felt for
him because I know how how much work he puts
(05:05):
in and I know how he prepares, and I just
told him I had his back. But we're not doing
anything different. We're still having the same conversations. He's still
putting in his work. Uh and and hopefully this week
he'll he'll be able to bounce back and help lead
us to a win.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
James, you know you guys are playing Drake May.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
This week by hisself. Man. I like it over here,
all right, you.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Guys are playing you know, Drake May this week. You
played Kaleb, You played Bowl A lot of second year quarterbacks.
What what what is it about that jump from the
first year to the second year, and you know Jackson's
gonna make that jump this coming off season. What how
could he follow in their footsteps?
Speaker 1 (05:46):
I think the unique thing about Jackson is he's played
very well for this to be his rookie year.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Both played very well last year.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Drake is coming into his own man, and it's and
it starts with the leadership that they have at the
head coach position and coach Mike Mike Babel. I just
love I was with him a little bit in Cleveland.
I just love the man that he is. His quarterback coach,
Ashton Grant was with me in Cleveland, so I know
the work that he's putting in every single day.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
And obviously I think to have Josh McDaniel's back, you know,
being one of those pillars of OC's calling plays when
Tom Brady was calling plays. It gives Drake just that
natural juju that that organization has been creating, you know,
since I've been alive. So he's doing a great job.
I'm very proud of him and what he's doing. And also, man,
(06:36):
he has some vido in that quarterback room. You know,
when you got some of the vido in your room,
you know, you get a little extra swag. You know,
you get some street cred instantly, you know when you.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Have the veto around you.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And I love Dobbs as well, So I just think
everything that's surrounding him, what they're doing to help build
him up. Getting step On in the off season, signing
the young running back out of Ohio State, having hunting
here and read what they're building around him is something
that's special. And I think that's something that you don't
see here with the New York Football Giants, with Jackson
(07:07):
Dark being already showing that he can be a superstar
quarterback in this league.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
James, is this different for you in the sense that
you know what your contract says for next year, I mean,
you want to be here. The fact that if you
weren't here beyond this season contractually, does it feel different
because you are a part of this, regardless of whether
it could be one, Q be two. There's something building
here and you are a part of it, regardless of what.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Your role is.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Yeah, I feel like every team has a one year lifespan,
and in this team, I'm a part of this one
year lifespan for this team. Now. I see great things
coming in the future, you know, But I can't be
there yet, you know. I have to focus on what
we are now and right now. I see a young
team that is hungry and determined to get better. And
(07:58):
I believe that we have the sas in this building
to make us splash and be a very good football team.
We just have not shown it consistently in the win
column on the football field. So I'm excited obviously for
what lies ahead of us. But the most important thing
that lies ahead of us right now is the best
team in the AFC is coming. Well, We're going to
(08:19):
the house, you know, having to play Monday night football there.
So I think this is another opportunity that we get
to show against a great football team what we have
here in this building.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Even very supportive of dark.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
But is it hard you go on to play play
the way you did on Sunday and know you're mostly
going back to the bench and maybe not play against year.
Is that just hard as a competitor and someone like yourself.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
I mean as a competitor, competitor, like I said, always
what I want for myself, I want for everyone, you know,
And uh yeah, I want to play like that. That's
just my heart, you know. I love this game. I
love the excitement that comes with I love really being
the general that's leading the guys.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
But at the same time, like, what is my role? Right?
My role if.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Jackson isn't playing, Okay, I'm playing my role. If Jackson
is playing, I'm supporting him like I would be supporting
myself for him to be his very best. And I
take pride in that because one thing about the quarterback
position is the only one you know, it's not unless
you're in New Orleans because tasting Hill like he did
some anaways like, it's only one of us that gets
(09:25):
a chance to go out there and lead the pack,
you know.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
So we have to be the whole room, me Russ
coach Tyranny. We have to be all in behind you.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Know our guy, to give him the best chance to
have this, just do his best on Sunday or Monday
or Thursday.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Earlier this season, you said that you still believed you
were one of the best thirty two quarterbacks in the league.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Whether you play Monday or not.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
How fulfilling is it for you that you got the
opportunity to prove that that it was correct?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Well, I mean, I'm grateful, you know, with this being things,
I'm so grateful, happy and grateful that I got a
chance to show, you know, and do what I love,
which is play at a high level.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Still, I want to win, you know. My focus is
on winning. You know.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
I'm happy that, you know, I created some excitement you
welcome Giants fans. But but anyways, I'm just I want
to win for this organization. I want to uh to
celebrate with my teammates because I know that we can
do it.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I appreciate y'all.
