Speaker 1 (00:00):
How different is this year for you coming in though,
and like, you know, you're in a more established spot
and a more established place, and yet still trying to
probably prove yourself as well.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't say it's any different than
last year. Really.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
The only difference is, you know, I've been here before.
I know what's going to happen. I know, like the
training camp is coming up. I know, like you know,
I gotta prepare my body, prepare my mind, I my soul,
you know, for what's going to happen during the season.
But I'm still grinding, man, I'm still grinding. There's really
no no safe space in the.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
League and the NFL. Everyone's trying to take your spot.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
So I'm grinded every day, you know, trying to make
sure that the coaches can trust me, that my teammates
trust me.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
There's a telling us now. There's just a different energy
that he feels this camp. I mean, do you see
anything different compared to last year? Oh yeah, yeah, I
definitely do.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
You know, I think we got a lot of dolls
on our team that wouldn't be great, you know, I
think that we have some people out there that want
to be leaders.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Want to be, you know, vocal and speak up.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
And I think that's the things you need on the
winning team. And I also think that you know, everyone's
buying in. You know, I think that from top to bottom,
the best player to you.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Know, the last person on the roster, like whatever it
may be. Like, I think everyone's buying in. And we
got a good team ready to.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Go with you and rookie scatterb How do you see
your styles messing? You know, if you are, you know,
you know you've got speed. He's got I'm not sure
he's got.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Got something.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Explain to me what that is and how your styles?

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, I mean obviously I got my speed and elusiveness.
The scatterboo mean, he got a little bit of everything.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
I watched this film. Obviously I've seen him play. I
think we all see him play. That boy got some
power to him. So I think that's, you know, one
of his his strengths is his his strength, really his power.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
The way he run the ball.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
He runs angry, he runs hard, he runs physical, some
of the things that Dave's love.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
But again I think that you know, we're two different backs.
But again we think we compliment each other really, well, what.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
About your game when you looked at them last year?
What did you see and what do you what did
you say to yourself this year? I gotta get this better.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Really Obviously, ball security was like a huge thing for
me last year. You know, I had too many, too
many on the ground, So that was that was a
big thing for me. But then I also just being
more vocal, being a leader, making sure that I'm coming
out here doing the right thing all the time, and
whenever I'm asked to make a play, I make that play.
I think consistency is the best thing that shows up
in the NFL. When you look at all the great

(02:24):
running backs, you know, they're very consistent year after year
after year.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
So that's what I want to be.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I want to be one of the great New York
Giant running backs that's coming through here.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
By it starts with consistency. So and that's gonna start
at practice every day.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
What are you doing for a ball security? Are you
walking around with the ball around the facility and I
mean people kind of poking out what exactly how have
you been addressing that?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, I mean, first of all, I mean it starts
on the football field.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
You know, every time I'm holding the ball or I
get the ball, whatever it is, make sure I'm carrying
it the right way. And then I also bought I
don't know if y'all know what it'll be like.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
A little strength.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
It's a grip strengthener off amazon that I use every night.
You know, it just helps me. Again, I also just
making sure that like I'm being a fundamentally sound when
I'm holding the ball as well. So again just taking
you know, your coaching in the meeting room to the field.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Were you a rough skuy growing up watching and you
know what what he what's your sense from him? You know,
obviously a very veteran season quarterback.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, yeah, I was definitely a rest guy. I was
a rest guy. I was a rest fan.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
You know, I didn't obviously know him personally up until now,
but I've seen him play. I've seen his his his
style of play. I knew it, would you know, Mesh, Well,
he's a he's a great leader. He speaks up, he
does what is needed all the time, and he does more,
you know what I'm saying. The first one here, last
one out. Like he's he's a he's a great human
being other than just a football player. But yeah, for

(03:41):
a football team. You know, he comes out here like.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
The rest of us. He's working hard, you like the
rest of us.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
But I think we have a lot of quarterbacks out
there right now that's you know, doing doing doing.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
A great job.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Line.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Hey man, I'm not I'm not a big expluraguer, but
he definitely definitely hooked us up. Let me just you know,
to say the least he hook this up.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
You know, I saw some food on my play that
I've never seen before, you know, but it was it
was really really good food. You know, if you have
never been. I think it's called Bourbon right by uh
at least called Bourbon steakhouse. Actually it's down by a
central park. But it was it was super nice, you know,
Like I said, it was very exotic.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Food, but it was really good. Yeah, he took care
of he tried. He looked at me a little bit,
but I was like.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Nah, yeah, I said, not yet, yettak.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
No, no bourbon man, you know, got keep it clean.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
What did you eat You've never eaten before?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
They had so I know, I mean, like I probably
already had it, but like it's called calin Mario, I
think like octopus.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Nah nah nah, some octopus.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
They also had like some uh I don't even know
what it's called, but it was like some some slimy stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I was like, yeah, I can't, I can't do none
of that. And then no, it wasn't. It wasn't octopus.
It was like, uh, clams and oysters. And I was like, yeah,
I'm good. I'm good off that. I'm gonna just keep
my little my fris.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
How has Russ I guess his addition contributed to that
energy shift you were describing earlier.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, I mean I think it's the energy he brings
every time he walked into the mir and he greased everybody.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
That's it starts with that, you know what I'm saying.
So like that's the main thing that I see Russ.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
He's very intentional to what he does, Like he speaks
to everybody like again, no matter you're the starting or
your number three or whatever, it is, like he treats.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
You like you're the start of the person, you know
what I'm saying. But he also give confidence and he
speaks life into you, like he comes to the huddle.
Let's us know, like, man, we got this like let's go.
He's a he's a great phenomenal leader. He's very vocal.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
He and he lets us know that like there's gonna
be mess up, you know what I'm saying, But that's
what practice is for you move on to the next play.
And he's he's a true professional.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Well you think his style of play will benefit the
running back group.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I mean to be honest, like when you have a
a person like rest, he's he he knows what he wants,
he knows how he wants, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
He done this for a long time, so he knows
the looks. He knows like what's going to happen before
it happened.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
So he he'll literally like tell me like yo, get
up quick here, and you know what I'm saying, because
he knows that like I'm going to be open on
this plage just from a defensive stadpoint.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
But he's also like, you know, he can run. You
know that's like a huge thing.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Obviously we had, you know, past quarterbacks that can run,
but like that's a plus when you're talking about a
person who can throw the ball accurately and then also run,
really you know, really well, you know that's going to
help out us tremendously.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
But then you know, you got good receivers, good tight ends,
good a line, like when we have the whole package,
like it makes everything you know, pretty.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Easy that you receive in college.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Nah, he actually knew. He knew he came in all
so he knew that I was a receiver, but he
didn't know like how long got played.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
So we was out there, you know, during like phase one,
he would you know, like, yo, you got you got
really good hands, you know, And.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I was like, yeah, I do, you know, receiver and
he was like I know, but like how long?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
I was like really my whole career and then like
he was like, yeah, we gotta do some stuff with you, man,
And that's really kind of how it took off.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
But you know, really up until up until now, like
he's been, he's been.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
A great you know person, a great you know mentor
for me just to go talk to and bounce ideas
off of.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
You talked about energy. Is there positivity? Do you feel
it around here? Yeah? Yeah, positivity for sure, That's all
that is.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Like I think one of the biggest things that we're
doing this year is making sure that everyone's on the
same track, like there's no one you know, bearing off,
you know, to the right or to the left, Like
we're all wanted to go in the same way, having
the same idea, with the same vision at the end
of the day, because obviously we had we all have
individual goals, but there's only one team goal.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
That's to win. You were talking about you played white
step obviously for a long time. Did Ladell Betts when
you were he tried to like make you a converted
How did that go? Yeah, so it will be he
came in.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
I want to say my I was there at twenty one,
so I think came like twenty twenty something like that maybe.
But when he came in, obviously I was I was
a receiver. He didn't get the chance to coach me
coach Foster. He was there for LB and I was
in and out of the running back room, in the
receiver room at Iowa. But again he didn't get to
coach me on the football field. But like, yeah, we

(08:10):
obviously we ran into each other at Iowa. He's a
he's a great guy, great coach.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
He knows his stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Obviously he played in the league as well, so like
when he come in here, he already knows, like you know,
what's going to happen. He knows how to handle it,
you know what I'm saying. So like, like I said,
he's a great coach.
