Speaker 1 (00:00):
Look, this is a Lumberjack fantasy come true. This is
a bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a

(00:29):
Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today we are
kicking off our reviews of Finding Mister Christmas season two
with Season two Episode one, The Search for Mister Christmas.
This episode originally premiered on the Hallmark Channel on Monday,
October twenty seventh, and is currently available to stream on

(00:51):
Hallmark Plus. Keep up with us on Instagram on TikTok.
We are Girls Gone Hamark. I gotta tell you we
were popping off on both platforms. Yes, we last a
couple of days. Yeah, having a really good time over
on Instagram, turn it out content engaging with Yeah, Hallmark viewers,
it's a good time. I love it. We also have

(01:12):
a Facebook group if you are interested in joining. It's
Girls Gone Hallmark and Facebook groups. You know really quickly.
Speaking of Instagram, we had been saying we're gonna make
a smuucho meter. Yeah, yeah, and we did. It makes
me happy. It makes me happy too. I saw, I
saw you said like I spend a lot of time
on this. Please go give it some love. I love
this Muto meter. It's like a little bit out of

(01:34):
rhythm for us. So when you always like throw it
in there at the end about like what's your yeah,
I'm smoutchro meter ready rating, and I'm always like, oh yeah,
I don't think about it when I'm like watching the movie.
You tell me either. It's hard to top Wren Christy.
I know we had some early it's that maybe the
front runner for the entire season we shall see, maybe
the one to beat. Well, let's stop Finding Mister Christmas.

(01:56):
Season one, episode one with a little synopsis. Host johnat
been It and Judge Melissa Peterman kick off the hunt
for Hallmark's next leading man as ten new Hunks reinvent Santa,
then brave a ski slope meet cute with Janelle Perish
where spills still the scene. We're gonna drop some first

(02:17):
impressions of this episode, Wendy, what was your first impression
of season two finding Mister Christmas? These men are two
pretty for Basic Cable. I'm the smoking hot right and
I cannot want to compare like this year to last year,
but like fire casting great job, guys. Well, let me

(02:40):
tell you my first impression and then I want to
talk really quickly about the casting. Okay, my first impression
is this season, it seems like muscles are a main character.
They certainly are. I don't hate it. You know, here's
what I was thinking about, really different casting wise. Last
season when they were casting, we talked to a lot
of the guys and they were like, we didn't know
what we were being cast for. We just knew we

(03:00):
were being cast for a reality show. They had kind
of a basic idea, right because the show didn't exist
and so they couldn't talk about it. Well, this year,
the show's out there and so they were casting very
specifically for this show, and so a lot of really
great guys in that cast. But I feel like this
year's cast is a little more dialed in. They understand
the assignment. And speaking of the cast, why don't we

(03:24):
talk about the men of Mister Christmas season? Sure? Thing
first into the house is Craig. Craig comes in solo,
and I love that he like walks in the house.
He's like, hello, nobody's there, cricket, Hello, Hello Hello. What
I find is really funny is he's carrying football the
entire time through this entire opening scene. Yeah, and I

(03:46):
it was a choice that I didn't fully understand because
to me, I'm like, sending the football guy with the football.
It was a prop that got has something to do
with their hands. I understand that. Yeah, I didn't quite understand.
And we're going to talk later about the festive face
off because the character he brought to that was completely different.

(04:08):
And maybe that was by design of the guy that
walked in like the all American guy with the football. Yeah,
you know, so I was like, who's Craig. Who's Craig.
I don't know who Craig is. I gotta tell you.
I loved when he's looking at the mantle of stockings
and he goes Craig, and I was like, who are

(04:28):
you saying that too? But I loved it. I loved
it so much. Yeah, two guys roll in together. Next
we have Robbie and Drake, and I don't know if
you notice, but they are driving a red pickup track.
Indeed I did notice. It's like, nice touch, nice touch there, Drake. Drake.
This hair won't stop. I can't. All I can think

(04:50):
about is the hair on Drake, and he knows it
lean in. I mean, he's like, gotta thank my mama
for my hair. He's got great hair. I do love that.
Drake's opening line is it's so much bigger than I
thought it would be, and that's gonna be the meme
of the season. Yeah, you know, Drake to me seems

(05:11):
very young. I don't know how old he is, but
he seems much younger than the rest of the guys.
There's like an earnest like kind of sweet boy about strong,
golden retriever energy and admittedly so which I loved. Yeah,
we love the self awareness. I have high hopes for Drake.

(05:32):
Now let's talk Robbie. Robbie broke my heart immediately. I
thought it was cute. He's like I knew if I
wanted to stay up late, all I had to do
was say, like, mom, you want to watch a Hallmark movie.
I mean it's smart, right, I just love it. That's
real sweet. I'm telling you, at my very core, you know,
I want to roast on all these guys, right, like

(05:53):
I love to poke fun. So Sara's kind of hard.
It's very difficult. Don't show me childhood pictures of sweet
Robbie on a carousel. I can't bring my cold heart
to like I was mean no, And I will tell
you that I was very surprised by how moved I
was by these guys immediately, Like the fact that I

(06:17):
was almost in tears at the end of this episode
says a lot about these guys. Can I just add
one more thing about Robbie please? I'm watching him through
this entire episode, and I'm like, who does he remind
me of? He looks like somebody so familiar. It's the
striking blue eyes. And finally it dawns on me, it's
brat packer Andrew McCarthy, like early days, pretty and pink,

(06:41):
that era of Andrew McCarthy. I love, I love Andrew McCarthy.
I'm just wondering, is that a reference you think Robbie
himself would get. I don't think so. Right. Was he
even born Robbie was probably born in the nineties. Oh
my god. And when you say that out loud, it
makes me feel like old creeper on the Internet of

(07:02):
the late nineties. Oh goodness. All right. Next up, speaking
of hair, Angel walks in and he and Drake immediately
connect over their their long flowing, voluminous hair. Actually it
was kind of sweet. I like seeing when the guys
grow out a little bit with each other. We learned

(07:24):
Angels from Venezuela. He moved to the United States at
age fifteen, and he says Hallmark movies are a part
of his holiday traditions. I did read an Entertainment Weekly
article introducing the guys, and Angel also said that he
extensively studied season one of Finding Mister Christmas to smart
them into this show. Smart Angel. I gotta say, I

(07:46):
loved like his personal photos with him and his girlfriend
and around the tree, and they're like in matching, like
very sexy hot Christmas pajamas. Not might she be any
more beautiful? Good? I know, I'm like, okay, but god,
I loved it so much, and I gotta tell you
part of me. I love an immigration story. I'm like,
let's go, bro. I'm very excited for Angel, very excited.

(08:10):
Oh I got the double duo again, Davy and Gabriel. Look,
this is a Lumberjack fantasy come true. I don't know
how two men can be so freaking gorgeous. I'm speechless.
I'm speechless yet even the guys when they walk in

(08:30):
the house, are like, do you think he like melts
a little inside? You go, oh, that's my competition, right.
I just imagine Davy walking into the house and you're
anybody else. Every single one of these men is beautiful,
and you go, oh no, talk about like all American, tall, blonde, chiseled,

(08:50):
and then he drops I'm a new dad, and I'm like, ha,
like just come on, And then Gabriel smile. Gabriel. You know, Okay,
We're gonna probably talk about Gabriel a lot later on
in this episode. I have a feeling but Gabriel's eyes
and smile are so mesmerizing to me. He has the

(09:16):
sweetest face. I cannot get over. I just I'm sure
he would not appreciate being called adorable by a forty
six year old woman, but there's something about him that
is just so sweet. How big fan of Gabriel? Me too,
Me too, Gabriel. Also, he does say like I'm brand
new to acting, and I do think like the way

(09:38):
it's edited again, all this is editing. But we see
the guys all looking around at each other and they
all kind of like make like a little Yike's face. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Like oh no, They were like, he's hot, but is
he gonna be a competition? I was like, oh, no,
be nice, I know, like sweet Gabriel. Yeah, yeah, all right.
They are followed by Jake, who we learn is a
former professional football player who he also does not have

(10:01):
any acting experience. He's looking to make a career pivot.
I felt like Jake was so vulnerable and explaining football
was my life. It's not my life anymore. I'm looking
for my next thing. I'm trying to find something and
it's admirable, right yes, and to admit, like I'm he
doesn't use these words, but to me, the message was

(10:22):
like I'm a little bit lost. Like I knew who
I was when I played football. I identified myself that way.
Now who am I trying to figure that out? Also?
But it is interesting now we have like two guys
who who have told us they have no acting experience. Right,
I'm scared to watch that roll out? Yeah. Can I
just talk about Jake for just a hot second. M

(10:46):
When he's talking about he doesn't have any acting experience,
and he's like, that's gonna be my sneaky surprise. And
then we see like Instagram photos of Jake who literally,
I don't think I've seen so many abs on a
person before. I was like, sir, that's your sneaky surprise. Yeah, woa.

(11:06):
Also side note, I was preparing for this episode yesterday
and I took a screenshot of one of the guys
and I asked it, hold on, Oh, I took a
screenshot of one of the guys. I don't want to
admit who. And I was going to text you this
picture and I wrote, this guy is so f being hot,

(11:27):
and then realize I almost sent it to my husband almost.
I mean, maybe he appreciates a good looking man. Oh
my goodness. I had had a lot of explaining you,
because you know, he thinks I'm just watching Hallmark upstairs.
He doesn't know. He doesn't know what kind of Hallmark

(11:49):
I'm watching. Our incomes logan. I feel like we didn't
get a lot of logan, Like I don't think they
rushed the logan intro. But the guys do compliment his
gal and he's like, I'm made of myself. So's he's
a crafty fellow. He knits? Yeah, oh nits. That's interesting.
I was considered. I thought maybe he cut them off.

(12:11):
I don't know, you think he cut the fingers off
of a pre made pair of gloves and then considered
that making them. I would Oh, I did not get
that well logan weigh in girls on home or at
gmail dot com. I got the impression that he had
crafted them out. So ya logan. We didn't get a
lot of logan. No, And I don't know if I
even got enough to make a well rounded not in

(12:35):
this introduction. I just think, Yeah, next step comes in
who I called the rockstar who was going to steal
Christmas Rustin, like justin with an R. Those are his words.
You never heard the name Rustin before. I kind of
like it. Yeah, he comes in with his bad boy energy. Look,
the ladies who watch Hallmark love a bad boy, do

(12:59):
they not? His name is Tyler Hines indeed, and a
bad boy with a heart of gold. Mm hmm. And
when I saw Rustin, I was like, Oh, Rustin's going
to give Tyler a run for his money. I if
this was a vote in show, I think Rustin would
run away with him. That's interesting. Now, because of filming constraints,

(13:19):
obviously they wouldn't. That couldn't happen. But I would love
to see the version of the show where fans were
voting mm yeah. Well, followed by Rustin, we have Marcus.
Marcus comes in Clock's Gabriel and he's like, we look
like we could be brothers, which just made me laugh.
We don't learn a lot about Marcus either when he
comes in. But this is my least favorite part of

(13:40):
this episode because Rustin points at Marcus, points at the
mantle and goes last one in, first one to go, yeah,
I don't want don't Why are you doing that? Because
the vibe of this show is so like, yes, we
all want to win, but they really do seem to
develop these friendships and root for each other and get
excited for each other throughout the episode, and so right

(14:04):
off the bat to put that competitive energy out there,
I did not love it. I'm going to be fully honest.
Do you want to talk about your early faves after
these intros? Based on looks alone, I gotta tell you
Rustin is probably my early fave, But now I'm like, oh,
I don't like the things that you just said about him,

(14:25):
So not the things you said, but what he said. Sure,
I don't think I caught that. Oh yeah, but he's
an early fave. Davy is really something else. Drake. I
love a long haired dude. I think that's why Rust
and Drake stand out to me the most. Yeah. I

(14:48):
was really charmed by Robbie when he came in. I
just thought he was real sweet. I am not typically
drawn to the bad boys. Well, I think Robbie is
the exact opposite of that. And I just can't get
over that little face on Gabriel. So are those your
like number ones? Yeah, I mean there are guys that
I'm excited to see more from. Yeah, why don't we

(15:10):
take a quick break and we're gonna come right back
with our Festive face Off Challenge. We're back. Let's talk
about how this show is set up. So every episode
we're going to get a festive face off challenge, some

(15:32):
silly holiday based activity whose main purpose is to grant
the winner an advantage to use in the second challenge
of the day. Right, This is very common in like
real reality competition shows. Survivor I think does something like this,
Sure Survivor, Well, they do a Yeah, they do a

(15:54):
reward challenge, basically a reward challenge. Yeah, because the winner
gets an advantage and that like big next, Big competition. Okay, yeah,
then The star Quality Challenge is designed to test their
abilities as actors and all the things that the encounters,
so their acting challenges and modeling challenges and other sorts
of performance based challenges in these star Quality moments. So

(16:19):
our first festive face off challenge. Let's talk about JB
for a second. Oh my gosh, I lovingly call him JB.
That is our friend, Like he's our friend exactly, JB
and MP Man. The guy has so much energy, so
much energy, and you know what I can't get past.

(16:41):
His eyebrows are perfection. I wonder if he does like
a thread situation. Oh, I'm gonna spake closer attention to
his eyebrows. You've never noticed are just so good? No,
I haven't. Anyway, he just will now bust in with
all this energy and hype. And I think that's why
he's like the perfect I mean, I know this show

(17:01):
is his baby, but he's also the perfect host of
it because he's he's he is the hype man, right,
he is the hype man. Look, I think I think
this show isn't for everybody. I've seen people who are
not all in on this show. I am all in
on this show. When I turn this on. I texted you,
I've told you multiple times. I just love this show.

(17:21):
It just brings me joy. And when we get the
first can I get a ho ho ho of the season,
I'm like, did you shout ho handah? Yeah, I'm ho
ho ho ing right back at it from the couch. Absolutely,
me too. Yeah, I'm so. The world is such a mess.
It is so joyfilled and happy. And to watch people
just creating this show just for the purpose of having fun.

(17:45):
I mean you could go deeper, you could be like,
this is a career opportunity for you guys, and of
course it is, but the net result of this show
is just fun for the viewer. Yeah, and I am
all in. Yeah, I'm all in. Give me the peppermint twizz,
give me every Christmas metaphor in the land, and give
me some hot sandus. Okay, so let's talk about the Santas.

(18:11):
They're Santa personas, theyre's Santa personas. At first, we've got
Robbie and he's Santa for the pause. Yeah, yeah, he's
got a tail, he's got ears, and he says Merry
Christmas to all who don't bite. Yeah, I'm into it.
I'm into it too. Look, the thing is here. What
the guys needed to do is whatever they picked, they
just needed to go all in. You didn't need to

(18:33):
have the most unique take. You just needed to lean in.
You needed to be dynamic on stage. You needed to
have an angle. And Melissa's like, I think it's criminal
that there's not a sand for dogs. Me too, me too,
you know, I gotta shout out the guys. I wonder
how much time they did have to like brainstorm there.
I mean, obviously on they were cold. Thirty minutes. That's

(18:54):
what Jonathan says, You've got thirty minutes to complete this challenge.
That's what we see. I'm just wondering if like they
knew going into because that's what I'm saying is like,
that's impressive. If somebody said, Wendy, you need to make
a missus clause and lean into the persona. I got
to process that. I told her I need three days
and chatgy Betita like helped me come up with some ideas. Right,

(19:14):
So I'm impressed with what they came up with. A
thousand percent agree with you and I love dogs, so yay, Robbie.
I thought it was great. Out of the gate. I
thought Robbie was great out of the gate. Next up
the heartbreaker Gabriel. He panicked. It's like watching a slow
car crash and I just want to hug this man.

(19:35):
I know, here's what I really wanted. The first of all,
Melissa and Jonathan were lovely and encouraging, and Melisa was like,
it's okay, like she was trying to draw things out
of him. This is what I This is what I
wish I could have said to Gabriel in that moment,
and then later on in this episode also is just
say something. What was he penguin Santa or something? Yeah,

(19:55):
because he was from Wyoming where it's cold. He was
trying to embody the cold weather and he had the
pengu and I think he went in with like an
idea of what he wanted to say, and then that
flew out of his head. As I can totally understand,
have you heard me on this podcast, I'll like talk
and then like word salad comes out. So I would
have panic so totally. But in that moment, it's like,

(20:18):
forget where you were going to say and just say something,
Just say anything. Yeah, it hurt me to watch. It
was hard to see Rustin's next rockstar Santa. Admittedly I
was like thinking of merch ideas during this moment. I
was like, I'm into rock star Santa. I just oh,
I'm sorry, I'm into rockstar Santa. Okay, But then he says,

(20:42):
my heart is big, but inside I'm a star and
he's wearing a heart with a star in the middle
of it. Well, you see, I think I'm just was
like in a haze glitter and just sad hair what yeah,
I missed that as well. It's okay to be like
I'm a star, right, because like you can tell yourself

(21:03):
these things, right, that's right, you gotta tell yourself. But
maybe those are inside voices and not like baby, I'm
a you know. Yeah. He then sings. He sings to Melissa, Well,
he's a musician. I've got a great voice. And if
we even talked about that earlier, he is a musician,
So lean into that. I love that he sings into
a like a Santa Spatula. Am I'm remembering that correctly? Okay? Yeah, look,

(21:28):
let the people know who you are. Lean into your persona.
And he was great on stage. He was dynamic and
he commanded the space. So I will give him that
Logan's Wizards Anta. He comes out in full wizard regalia.
I'm not into it, Okay, are you not into it?
Because you're like the fantasy thing doesn't vibe for me?

(21:51):
That's one okay. I'm also not into the costume because
I can't see you. Yes, I think that's an excellent point.
So here's what I liked about it. First of all,
as we talked about, we didn't learn a whole lot
about Logan up top. So I feel like now I'm
all in, Like I know who Logan is. Like, this
guy makes sense to me now. And when he comes out,
here's what I liked. He went for it, like his

(22:11):
costume was detailed, it lit up, he had a story
to tell when he came up there. But I think
you're right, you've got to balance that with the whole
point is selling us you face, so we need to
see you as well. I agree. Davy's next, Davey comes
out again. Know who you are. Davey comes out and

(22:33):
he's mister liftmus He does a rhyme about lifting weights,
but he's wearing a shirt and Davy, look, I love
a humble king, but let's be serious. Your shirt says
it's not a dadbod, it's a father figure. There is
no world in which Davy's rocking a dadbod. He makes
a dadbod comment later on in the episode. I mean
maybe in thirty years. No, I understand, but I also

(22:57):
think it's almost like rage bait, you know, okay, dad
bond because he looks like he looks he does double
duty here for me though, because he comes out and
he like does this like miming of like lifting weights.
Are you embarrassed a little bit? But no, I loved it.
I loved it. He's like, I'm mister liftmus I loved it.
And then he shows that his suit has his son's

(23:20):
name on it because he's a brand new baby boy
Sodo at home, and I was like, he's fire and ice.
I think he knows how to get to the moms
who are watching. I know, Oh I all I could
think about was wanting to be lifted over him. I
want it to be the shoulder press that he was doing.
I don't know, like the man is yeah, good looking,

(23:44):
uh huh. Next up, Craig. Craig is Santini. I loved
this so much because he is the only one who
who created a character that was not what was presented, Like,
he didn't lean into like I lift. So therefore on
mister Lyftomus, you know what I mean? Yes, I liked it.

(24:07):
He had like a big Santa belly. But now that
I say that, I need to see what we're working
with here, So don't hide the goods with a big
fake Santa belly. Oh, I see what you're saying, you know,
But I did love the character of it all. Yeah,
he's got the New York skyline made of ribbon on
the back of the Santa suit. That was great, rapping

(24:29):
paper torch for the Statue of Liberty. He went all in,
created a character. Loved it. Marcus comes in. Marcus is
another one I don't have a lot of information about.
I don't feel like I know who he is. Even
by the end of this episode, I can't even remember
what he came in as. He's super Sanna. He wants
to slay the day. Okay, it's fine. He's got a

(24:51):
lot of energy. Drake comes in and catwalks down and
he's got that Golden Retriever smile. You know. Drake's kind
of ring like a football jersey kind of that he
had added across to because he talks about faith and
family being important to him. And before he goes on,
he says that he's worried that maybe he didn't do enough.

(25:11):
It's not the biggest swing of the bunch. Do you
think he was like, my character is going My Santa
character is going to be like a high end fashion model.
Sure maybe maybe, but also trying to show a little
bit like who he was with his like faith and
well and for me, he had a strong presence when
he came out, and so that goes a long way

(25:34):
beyond the costume. Okay, Angel's next, and Angel is Santa Angel.
He says, I'm here to bless anybody who's ever been
ignored or believed no words. I was very touch Yeah.
I think Jonathan almost cried I need some more backstory
there though, right where does that come from? Experience? Yeah?

(25:55):
I would love to know more. I wish we could
have like dialed down into how do you come up
with that line? What was his motivation? Like, give give
me more backstory here? I loved that. And finally Jake
comes out, he's buff Sanna, and this is where he
starts to talk about his football injury that led to
him finding a new passion. He gives me strong Travis

(26:16):
Kelce vibe totally, and I was like, Okay, there's a
space for that on Hallmark. I think, yeah, they've been
really leaning into those those football movies, you know, Like
I think there's like crossover there into like the football
stereotype guy for sure. So yeah, there's a space for him.

(26:36):
I don't hate it, but he's not the winner. Craig
as Santini wins the challenge? Are you surprised by I'm
not surprised. I thought he was certainly one of the
top three. I thought Robbie was great. Looking at this list,
I think Robbie, Rustin, and Craig, maybe Davy too. Honestly,
I thought most of them did pretty well. You know,
it's funny. While I liked Santini, I thought maybe it

(27:01):
might have read a little cheesy m and so I
was kind of surprised. Craig one though, were you infessive
base off? Yeah? Interesting? And there's also you know, we
don't see their whole moment, right, I know that's interesting.
We only see I would love give me a director's cut.
With that, we head to the Star Quality Challenge. I

(27:24):
have a question for you. Yes, based on this first
Star Quality Challenge alone, do you think we're leveling up
the difficulty in terms of what we're asking our actors
to do. Certainly when you have to, you know, act
on skis and you've never skied before, you ever skied before?
I have, and I'm terrible. Skiing is not a skill

(27:45):
you can pick up in twenty minutes. Yeah, I am
kind of surprised. I'm trying to compare it to last year,
and I don't remember a lot of the Star Quality
challenges other than like some acting challenges, there was an
ice skating one. Oh that Yeah, that's difficult if you
have never ice skated, So I mean maybe that's kind
of the same plane, Like you're doing something physical that

(28:07):
if you've never done before, you are at a disadvantage. Sure,
so you've got to bring it in the acting part
of it, or just roll with whatever happened. I just
thought it was a real choice to make these guys
ski because skiing is not a thing that you could
just snap your fingers and pick up. In fact, I
think snowboarding is actually easier to pick up in a
couple minutes than skiing is. But here's here's a question

(28:28):
for you. If you're making a Hallmark movie and the
scene calls for skiing or snowboarding or ice skating, they're
not actually doing that. No, they just need to ski
in in that moment, right right. They're not also like
delivering a line or making like a meet cute or what.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Well.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I think they would absolutely. I think this is the
kind of thing that could absolutely happen where you like
ski up and you're like, oh can I help you? Fine?
But I think if you were a director filming it,
like you're gonna get like the best shot. So like
they'll do fourteen tape sure, or they'll have somebody come
in as like a body double and like ski their
way in and like do the big spray of snow

(29:10):
and all that stuff. So it just feels. So we're
in the mountains and we meet first of all. First
of all, Jonathan Melissa are in the most amazing Neon
ski suits. I loved it. They popped against the snow.
I thought it was roughun choice meon. I love it.
It was straight eighties. Yeah, ski's cool. You love it?

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (29:30):
I did love it, I really did. I Also I
didn't mention it, but the sweaters that Jonathan Melissa are
wearing in the festive face off. I did google Melissa's
It's from Bowden. It's so cute. Loved the colors. They're
joined by our first guest judge of the season, and
it's Janelle Parish. I love Janelle Parish. It's funny because

(29:52):
Jonathan introduces her. He does his sugar Plumb from last year,
which was a huge hit. Was it a huge hit?
It was a huge hit to me. You and I
we love that movie. I don't know in the Hallmark universe,
but I feel like people liked that movie. I think
she's very popular on the network now. It was a
great get. I love that she was and she has

(30:12):
a ton of experience outside of Hallmark too, obviously, so
I'm very excited. I did wonder, and I wondered this
last year or too. When the guys are like, Janelle
Parish is here, I like, do they actually know who
that is? Yeah? Good question. I don't know. I always
wonder that too, Like are they frontloaded with that information?
I don't know. They're like, get excited, it's Janelle Parish.

(30:33):
And when we say it's Janelle Parish, they're like, oh
my gosh, yeah, great question. So their assignment is they
got to do a skiing like you said, meet cute scene.
And just like last season, this first acting challenge, there's
two guys acting alongside. That is another layer to how
difficult the challenge is. Yeah, and we'll see that really

(30:54):
only one of the pairs in the two guys interact
with each other. Because let me tell you, I'm not
an actor, but I've been in a professional setting with
somebody else when maybe you're like competing against, but you know,
not so overtly competing against. I just kind of like
roll over, Oh, sure, me too. I'm not I'm not

(31:15):
gonna get I'm not gonna be the loudest in the group. No,
that is not who I am. So if you put
me in a scene like this, I would just be like,
take it away. You know, it's difficult. Craig's advantage from
the festive face off is that he gets to choose
the order and he chooses to go last. To love

(31:36):
that strategy, Yeah, it's the way to do it. It
gives you more practice skiing, more time to learn your lines,
especially in a scene like this. And then they pair
up for this challenge and that kind of was awkward
to me, honestly, when they're like it was like giving
you know, school, you're trying a partner in the classroom,
And I was like, gosh, yeah, because I feel like

(31:58):
angel was last to somebody, right, was it Angela and
Davey who ended up parenting? Yeah? You know what we
didn't talk about early on. And I'm sorry to throw
this wrench into the conversation, but Gabriel and Davey know
each other. Oh yeah, they knew of each other, and
I believe they said they were roommates at one time.

(32:19):
So going into a competition where you know somebody, don't
you feel like that's a little bit of an advantage. Yes,
And then I wondered if the other guys felt threatened
by that, Yeah, because they clock it early? Is it
in this episode? I think it is. The guys are
talking in the scene and Davey says something about Gabriel
and they're like, wait, you guys know each other. Rustin

(32:40):
is like, wait, you guys know each other? Yeah? Now
I get Rustin's feeling because if that were me and
I was solo in this house and I learned two
of the guys who also happened to be dropped dead
gorgeous models walking great alliance and their besties. So first up,
Davy Angel. Davey skis in first when he's laughing and

(33:06):
I can imagine what you're laughing about. Goggle the entire time.
Even Jonathan and Melissa are like, kick the goggles off
and they're huge on his face. There's these mirrored ski
goggles and it was distracting. It's like that DJ that
wears like the you know, like that you're talking about

(33:27):
that wears like the helmet. Are you talking about DJ
Lance Rock from Yogeba Gebba? No and not. I'm actually
talking about a legitimate DJ. It's daft Punk. Daft Punk.
It's a duo, an electronic music duo named daft Punk.
They were like those Okay, anyway, it was giving, it

(33:47):
was giving. I'm going to the moon. Yeah yeah, So
and these are the things you're like, does it matter what? Yeah?
It matters, because like, how can you connect with your
coastar have money Maker when they're just Janelle's just looking
back at her own face and your giant mirrored glasses, Like,
aren't actors supposed to be connecting like with their eyes
and all that stuff. So when he finally takes it off,
you're like, huh, phew, there he is. Then Schipitol Angel

(34:10):
swoops in. This is my favorite. He stumbles and he
was like, I was just knocked over by your beauty. Great,
well done, great recovery, right, and I think this, I think.
I think overall this pairing does fine. Janelle is great throughout.
I really loved her and she quacks. Oh my god,
it's so cute. I loved her so much in this.
It was like last year too, when we saw Rachel

(34:33):
Boston as a guest judge and she did a scene
over and over and over again, and I was like,
oh my god, she's so good. I loved Janelle Parrish
like she was so freaking adorable in this. I agree,
I agree she connected with all of them. Next up
Marcus and Robbie. Marcus comes in and I'm Marcus, I
think you're so handsome and you have this beautiful smile.
We need more from him, but hey, I there's nothing

(34:56):
remarkable to me about Marcus's performance. He like kind of stumbles, recovered,
looks great, does fine. Robbie comes in strong ski stop
mm hmm, almost a little snowspray. Yeah, Robbie was like
coaching March Marcus on some ski tips a lot ahead
of time. But Robbie, I laughed out loud, as someone

(35:19):
who messes up their words all the time. It totally
could have been me. I misspeak regularly. If you guys
didn't catch it. He calls her a beautiful jerk girl.
I don't even know how it happened, Just like the
words just get like, yeah, you know, messed up in
your brain? Did they only get one take? Yeah? I

(35:40):
think yeah, oh boy. But other than that, other than
that line, I thought his delivery was good. I thought
Robbie did great. Logan and Drake are up next. I
actually pretty much. I really liked Logan in this scene.
Logan's great. I still don't know anything about Logan. No,
I don't really know who he is. Oh, but he
was in terms of acting the most natural, smooth smooth. Yeah,

(36:06):
I thought so too. I have been on skis before
and fallen down. It's very difficult to get back up.
We all know the story about me falling off a
ski lift. Yes, I know, I don't on the snowboard.
Did you pinwheel with your snowboard at all? I don't
like skiing or snowboarding. It's not fun. But I was snowboarding.
I was in Tahoe with my family, boy that I liked,

(36:30):
who came on this trip with us. We got separated
getting on the ski lift. So I'm on the chair
by myself. Yeah, and I think maybe my brother was
in front of me and went the boy and I'm
we get to the top of the hill and you've
never been skiing, You like get to the top and
kind of like the mountain comes like right up underneath,
and you like ski or snowboard down a little hill

(36:52):
to get off. Well, I hesitated, and the little mountain
like drops away from you, and then I panicked, and
so I jumped. But then you jumped from the from
the chair. Yeah, I mean it was only like a
like a several foot Driffall if you didn't jump, would
you just have I don't know that's riding around me.

(37:13):
Would or would they have stopped it? I don't know
what would have happened. But I panicked, Oh my god. Okay,
but that's not the worst part because then I'm a
few minutes later snowboarding wh whosh. Then my snowboard catches
I flip completely backwards, like I am like impressed into

(37:34):
the snow. Oh my hat one direction, all my gloves,
everything is off, God bless everything. This is pre the
year two thousand. This was not when helmets were in
ubiquity slopes. I mean I went down. The ski patrol
had to come and snowmobile me off the mountain because
I sprained my wrists. Oh boy, I had to go

(37:55):
to the hospital. I had a concussion probably. Oh. My
mom had to take me to the hospital. Left my
brother and this dude and my dad scan all day.
Oh my god. And then I come back to the
mountain with my mom to pick everybody up. My arm
is in a sling and someone at the bottom, someone

(38:15):
in a uniform. He was like, oh, are you the
girl who fell off the lift? And I go yeah,
And he goes, is that how you wreck your wrist?

Speaker 2 (38:23):
And I was like, I'm just a bat snowboarder on
top of being a panic the girl who jumped off.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
The ski lift. That was the last time I snowboard,
I imagine, all right, next up Gabriel and rest in Gabriel.
He he you can't remember his lines, Like I feel
that pain to say something. What like, I don't know,
I'm not quick like that either. I'm defending this man
so hard. I know, I just I could. I felt

(38:57):
like sick in my stomach for him in that moment
because I could feel that cold panic. Yeah, that is
coursing through your veins, poor dude. And then Rusten comes in.
Rustin comes in, He's like I got it, and then
Gabriel's like trying to recover. He's like, no, that's okay,
and Russen's like I'll take it from here. Yeah. It
kind of steps all over him a little bit. What

(39:18):
this this is now Rustin's turn? Right? For sure? Is
Rustin supposed to be like, ok, I'm gonna give this
guy like another ten minutes to like figure it out,
or like here I am and I'm gonna save my lines. Yeah, no,
no blame to Rustin in this moment. I actually appreciated
that Gabriel like tried to take a little bit of
control back and just like at least have a moment there.
Then takes off his helmet. He's got that long hair.

(39:42):
It kind of like shakes it out. I'm gonna do it,
m rockstars, Hannah. He looks good. He does a nice job.
He connects with her, charms the snowpants off of her. Finally,
our final pairing is Craig and Jake. Jake goes first.
Jake also forgets his lines, but recovers a little bit
more quickly than Gabe does. She also walks away leaving

(40:05):
one ski.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
Oh my god, I wish they would have shown it,
because you see that the ski is there, and I'm
just imagining him one ski on and then one foot
kind of like push push.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Just I love it. I just love that you see
the ski left behind. I really want the other camera
angle of Joe. Remember Jake, we love you so much,
so much. I love Jaking so much. Guys, the writing
is on the wall. Okay, go ahead. Craig comes in.
Craig solid, He's smooth, he's great. He looks at her,

(40:47):
he says something ulisses like, oh he put a little
flavor on that line. Love it. M hmm. I thought
he did a nice job, easy peasy. He's smart to
go last. Although I do think Marcus is the one
who said, I don't know, like you just have all
that time to get in your head. That is fair too,
because you're watching all the guys do it. Yeah, so

(41:08):
I think there's something to be said for that. Let's
take a quick break and we're gonna come right back
and talk about the elimination ceremony. We're back in the
elimination cave. I love the elimination cave. Everyone looks so good.
Everybody's so sparkly and pretty. Yeah, Melissa's got a great

(41:31):
glittery dress. I love Janelle's dress. The dudes stroll in
nicely tailored suits. They announced at the end of the
challenge that we had a twist that in every pairing,
one person would be safe and one person would be
in danger of being eliminated. You know, I had forgotten
about that because it didn't seem like they really they
should have paired the dudes up at during the elimination

(41:54):
challenge at that point, you know, so so step forward
and yeah, so there's more attention on, like which one's
gonna go home? Yeah, so we learn they announced the
winner of the challenge right up top. Were you surprised
that it is Rustin rock Star, Sanna, No, it wasn't
totally surprised. I think he did really well. I think

(42:17):
some of the other guys did really well too, So
I'm not quite sure, Like what put Rustin over the edge? Like,
what was the tipping point that our judges thought he
was the winner? I mean I thought he did well.
What about you? Yeah, I thought he did well too.
I would agree with you. There were several performances that
I would have said could have won. I thought Angel's

(42:38):
choice to say you just knocked me over with your
beauty was a great one, because things are gonna happen.
People trip, people fall, and it's what you do in
that moment to keep going. I also thought Logan and
Craig were great. Robbie I actually thought his performance was good.
It's just that flub of a line, and to me
it feels like a little bit unfair to put it

(42:59):
all on that, Like how often do people misspeak? Right?
So Logan, Angel, Craig, and Marcus are declared safe and
then that leaves Davy, Drake, Gabriel, Jake, and Robbie in
the bottom five. Yeah, they quickly give Davy and Robbie
their safety. Yes, they said they weren't the strongest performances,

(43:20):
but you guys are safe. So our bottom three are Jake, Drake,
and Gabriel, and the three of them just look like
they're all gonna burst into tears. I know this was
so hard to watch. Jonathan says. The camera loves Jake.
He says, Drake has infectious energy and Gabriel has heart,
and then we eliminate Jake. Bye, Jake, Jake, we hardly

(43:43):
knew you. Jonathan gets teery. He talks about brotherhood and
finding your purpose and he knows there's good things out
there for him, and Jake seems genuinely sad to be
going home. Do you think I'm not questioning Jabe here
at all? Do you think he's this emotionally invested in

(44:04):
these guys already that you get teary eyed when, like
the first guy goes home. I think he's invested in
their journey. I imagine coming at it from the this
is the job I know I was meant to have.
And if you had that feeling about yourself and it
was just a matter of figuring out how to get there,
and then you look at these guys who want that

(44:26):
same thing. Is there a part of you who's like,
I know what it's like to know what I meant
to do but not be there yet totally? Yeah, you
can be super empathetic in that situation. Look, also, he's
a great actor, so who knows exactly. I buy it,
I get emotions. I buy it too. I would I
would cry too, probably, sure if I just met this person. Sure,

(44:48):
you know Robbie's plotting in a good way, in a
good way, because he's like I just was on the Yeah,
I'm in the bottom was he in the he was
in the bottom five? Aren't you?

Speaker 2 (45:00):
Like?

Speaker 1 (45:01):
What do I gonna do? I gotta turn it around? Yeah,
your brain is working here, like he's plotting his next
move in a good way, in a good way. Yeah.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
