Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, I think the
trick to 1% better is that you
have to do it every day, and Icorrelate that to like nobody
wants to have a one-hit-wonderlife.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Right.
You think we can all name asong that was a one-hit-wonder.
I don't want people to think ofmy life as a one-hit-wonder.
Like to me, showing up everysingle day and getting 1% better
is no different than in themusic industry of someone that
puts out hit after hit after hitafter hit right and over a long
(00:34):
period of time.
You look back and you're likedamn, they were incredible,
right.
You can look at album afteralbum that they put out no
different than life, right?
If you stack win after winafter win and you continue to do
that.
That's the 1% mentality gettingbetter every single day.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Welcome back to the
Go All In podcast.
I'm Jake Fine.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
And I'm Braxton Cave,
and today we have another All
In Moments episode where we aregoing to hit you with a quick,
insightful episode on a subjectthat is very meaningful to both
of us, and that is the topic ofbeing 1% better every day.
Obviously, jake embodies thiswell and is committed to the 1%
lifestyle with the creation ofthe Be Better brand.
So, jake, kick us off.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Oh, we're digging in.
I mean, it's one of the modelsthat this brand lives by and you
know, it's 1% better every day.
It's a mindset, it's acommitment, a commitment to
growth, discipline and neversettling to yesterday's best.
You know, it's moving thatneedle forward.
But, yeah, I mean, greatnessisn't built, you know, overnight
(02:00):
, so it's just keep stackingthose little wins until they
become, you know, unstoppablemomentum.
Um, showing up every daymentally, physically and
relentlessly.
And because the goal isn'tperfection, it's progress.
And I mean there, you know,it's just funny, because you
know you say one percent, youknow it doesn't only go to 100%,
(02:23):
no, there's no cap to it.
You keep that mindset just tomove the needle forward every
day.
There's no stopping you.
So that's why I like this mottoand the brand lives by it.
So I mean, what do you thinkbehind your perspective?
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, I mean it's
interesting because I've used
kind of the saying of 1% for along time.
An example that I wanted to usein this episode is when I had
first started in my professionalcareer in corporate America.
On my whiteboard in my office Ihad written up there 1% better
(03:02):
every day.
And I remember getting intokind of like a heated argument
with a guy at work because hetook that as like I was trying
to put more and more and morethings on my plate and I was
like no man, that's not whatthis is about.
This is, I want to be 1% betterat the things that I already
(03:23):
have and continue to grow those.
And you know, I think it's it'sinteresting because you get
different people's perspectiveson it.
But for me, you know, within youknow I've talked about the
business accountability groupI'm in.
It's called the 1% group andit's to the goal in that is to
get 1% better at our fourpillars every single day.
(03:43):
And to me it's it's just anintentional and to me it's just
an intentional approach to lifeto improve the areas that mean
the most.
I was listening to a clip theother day when I was on one of
my rucks, of Kobe Bryant and theMamba mentality.
That's all the Mamba mentalityis.
It's 1% better every day.
(04:06):
And I think the trick to 1%better is that you have to do it
every day and I correlate thatto like nobody wants to have a
one hit wonder life yeah right.
You think we can all name a songthat was a one hit wonder.
Um, I don't want people tothink of my life as a one hit
(04:26):
wonder, like to me, showing upevery single day and getting one
percent better is no differentthan in the music industry of
someone that puts out hit afterhit after hit after hit right
and and over a long period oftime.
You look back you're like damn, they were incredible, right
there.
You can look at album afteralbum that they put out no
different than life, right, ifyou stack win after win after
win and you continue to do thatlike that's the one.
(04:46):
You can look at album afteralbum that they put out no
different than life, right, ifyou stack win after win after
win and you continue to do that.
That's the 1% mentality gettingbetter every single day, and we
talk about it.
But small wins every daycompound interest, equal big
wins in the long run, and that'swhat it's all about.
(05:06):
And I think a lot of peoplewill they get.
They overwhelm themselvesbecause they think 1% better as
they put all these tasks ontheir, on their list of to-dos
and they may have one great dayof doing that and they're like,
oh my God, I gotta do thattomorrow too, and it just
becomes overwhelming.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Well.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
I think the key to it
is that your goals have to
align with your actions, and ifyour actions and goals align,
then what you're doing every day.
It shouldn't seem like a talltask, it's just.
These are the steps I'm takingto become the person that I want
to grow and become, and so whenthose don't align, that's when
(05:44):
I think it gets overwhelming.
That's when I think it getsoverwhelming, and as long as
you're on that path of chasingthe things that you want in life
, it just naturally will happen1% at a time.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yeah, it's just like.
You know, nick Bears, go onemore.
You know it's doing that.
Extra rep, you know, just useJim for an example.
It's just, you know.
You know, I did 12 yesterday, Iwant to do 13 today.
You know um Ed Milet, his book, you know that.
One is.
What's that one called?
Again, forget power.
One more.
Yeah, see, it's just doing that, that one thing that you didn't
(06:22):
do the day before.
And just building that, building those up and stacking
the wins every single day.
And you know you get that highinside too.
You're like, okay, I'm, I'mfeeling it, I feel good, and
then you just want to keep ongoing and it becomes a, an
addiction.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
right, you know so
you start stacking good days,
you start creating that momentumyes yep, and then once you get
that momentum going, it's hardto stop, and you know there's so
many great things that come offof that.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
You have that
mentality with all aspects.
Man you are, there's nostopping you at all, it's just
being consistent and you know, staying with it.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So so I would say the
action steps moving forward for
the 1% better decide what youwant in life, whether that's a
short-term goal, long-term goal.
Decide what that is, decidewhat you're going to commit to
every day and then go and dothat 1% every single day and let
it compound.
It's simple, it's not easy.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, that's
basically your foundation.
Right there, it's brick bybrick.
So yeah, that's it, man.
That's basically yourfoundation.
Right there, it's brick bybrick.
So yeah, that's it, man.
That's it, we're out of here,thank you.
