Ep. 79 All 1N Moments: Complete Ownership

Ever feel like you're waiting for your big break, that magic opportunity, or the perfect moment to start? This powerful Quick Hitter episode challenges the passive mindset that keeps so many of us stuck in neutral. Jake and Braxston dive deep into why complete ownership of your life is the ultimate game-changer.

We explore the five critical mindset shifts needed to stop waiting and start building: why responsibility instantly transforms your progress, how to become valuable enough to create your own opportunities, why victimhood sabotages growth, becoming someone your future self will thank, and balancing faith with disciplined action. Through personal experiences—like Jake reflecting on feeling he started his journey "too late" at 43 and the wake-up calls that come from unexpected losses—we confront the uncomfortable truth that waiting typically leads to regret.

The life-changing revelation at the heart of this conversation is both challenging and liberating: the life you want won't be handed to you—it must be built by you. But that's actually good news. It means your future isn't dependent on luck or external validation but on your commitment to daily action. As Braxton reminds us, "Creation over consumption" becomes your pathway to transformation. Whether you're struggling with purpose, building a business, improving your health, or seeking more freedom, this episode delivers the tough love and practical wisdom to help you become the person you've been waiting for. Stop waiting for Superman—grab your own cape and take flight today.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Welcome back to the Gwalan podcast.
I'm Jake Fine.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
And I'm Braxton Cave, and on today's Quick Hitter
episode, we are going to betalking about the idea that no
one is coming to save you, and Iguess we could have named this
one.
You know, complete ownership,or yeah.
You know, but it takes me rightinto bullet.
Number one and that isresponsibility is the most

(00:45):
powerful mindset shift.
The moment you take fullownership of your life,
everything changes.
Blame delays progress andownership unlocks it.
Number two stop waiting to bediscovered.
You got to start building.
No one's coming with a magicopportunity.
You know your job is to becomeso consistent, so disciplined

(01:09):
and so valuable that you createopportunities.
And I've heard this also put ona in another episode.
The way they put it was youknow, when opportunity arises,
leave no doubt that you're theright person for whatever that
opportunity is.
Number three victimhood is theenemy of growth.
You can't lead anyone yourfamily, your team or yourself if

(01:35):
you're stuck waiting forsomeone else to fix it.
Number four be the one yourfuture self can thank.
One day, your kids, your spouse, your team will look back and
realize you chose to step up andthat's part of your legacy.
And then, number five Christalready saved your soul.

(01:55):
Now it's your move.
Faith gives you the foundation, but your life is built through
action, discipline and dailyobedience.
So those would be my top fivewhen it comes to the idea that
no one is coming to save you.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I like it, man.
You nail them all in the headevery time.
Man, you know we've beenconditioned to wait.
Wait for someone to give us ashot.
You know, wait for the righttime.
You know the perfect moment.
But you know you just have totake the action and just do it.

(02:30):
You're going to have a lot of Imean voices in your head
because I have myself.
You know, should I do this, should I do that?
No, I'm just going to wait.
No, you do this.
You know it happens all thetime.
You know you want the life, youwant the body, the businesses.
Do this.
You know it happens all thetime.
You know you want that.
You want the life.
You want the body, thebusinesses, the freedom.
You have to build it.
You have to take action and doit.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And every time you look back you're like damn it, I
should have started it.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Months ago, years ago , whatever it may be.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I always have that thought in my head because I'm
43.
I'm like I started so late.
That's like the biggest one Ihave, you know, cause you don't
know when your last day is.
You know, lately I've had a lotof you know close friends and
family members pass away thisyear already and, unexpected,
it's like okay, it really opensup your eyes.

(03:19):
You're like okay, and, like Isaid, you set that like voicing
your head like Jake hey, man,you started really late, you
need to kick it up in high gear.
But you know, I'm trying tojust push that voice aside and
just keep doing what I'm doing, taking care of myself.
You know that's all I can do.
It's just one day at a time, brick by brick, and you know

(03:40):
whatever happens happens.
But yeah, I mean, that's likethe main one I have, because you
hit on those five bullets, pretty much everything that I
have, but that was like my mainone is just people are just
waiting for, you know, that helpor the right moment, the
moment's now.
You need to do it now, right.

(04:00):
So that's my, you know myadvice.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, I mean to close us out here.
I'd say the life you want won'tbe handed to you.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
It will be built by you, right.
Creation over consumption andand that's the good news Right,
you've got everything you needto lead, to rise, to rewrite
your story, regardless of whereyour story starts, you know.
So you go, be the person thatyou've been waiting for right

(04:31):
now.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Don't wait, yeah, cause you think I like waking up
at 3am every day.
You know juggling a full-timejob and you know launching my
brand and doing that.
I mean this is what I want youknow.
So it's no handouts, no, noshortcuts.
Don't do that at all.
I mean there isn't any, becauseI've tried I've tried and yeah,

(04:53):
I mean, do the work and yougotta put in, you gotta put in
the time too.
It's.
It's a long haul.
So commitment and you know youraccountability, hold yourself
accountable but that's all I gotman we're.
We're out of here.
Thanks for watching, listening, until next time we're out of

(05:16):
here, yo.
Thank you.
