Eat that fun.

Let's go.
Man, we can do it.
Nothing more filling than thefruit of the spirit.
Amen.
We are back and back once again.
I am excited.
I don't know about you folks,but I'm excited.
So excited?

(01:24):
Wow, there's a lot to be excitedabout.
Amen.
I pray all of you guys have hada wonderful...
Week, weekend whatever timeframe it is that you're using in
between listening to us orwatching us, I pray it's been
fruitful.
And I also pray that the stuffthat you guys are watching and
listening to, that you'reletting it settle in and

(01:45):
allowing it to witness to you.
Into your spirit and that theLord is speaking to you by these
verses and scriptures that wehave been covering and as of
late present past and nowpresent future One of those.
All of those.
Amen.

(02:06):
If you guys are just tuning in,we've been doing a nine part
series of the Fruit of theSpirit.
There are nine parts of theFruit of the Spirit.
Today in part nine of nine,we're going to dig into what the
Word of God means when it refersto the Fruit of the Spirit.
There are, once again, nineparts of the Fruit of the Spirit
in the Bible.
And today's topic is the ninthand final part.

(02:28):
Temperance, or mostly known asself control.
Everybody's favorite part of thefruit of the spirit, the one
everybody does so good at,having so much self control in
this amazing world of ours.
There's no temptations.
Why wouldn't we all have selfcontrol, right?

(02:51):
I control myself.
Yeah.
Is that how that works?
Yeah, that's, yeah, exactly.
It's, and I think the more we goalong with this, uh, right here
in this lesson, you guys willunderstand that we control a lot
less than we think.
Amen.
And our core verses in thisseries are again from Galatians
5, 16 through 26 with emphasison verses 22 and 23 for all you

(03:18):
mathematicianses.
Alright once again, we go to theWebster's 1828 for our
definitions.
I encourage you guys to get theapp, or if you can find an 1828
one that's an original printinglet me know.
I might want to buy it off you.
No, just kidding.
Use it.
Use it.
It's great.

(03:38):
And they're very hard to come byand very expensive.
Get the digital one.
It's free.
And so Webster's 1828 definestemperance, self control, as
moderation, particularlyhabitual moderation in regard to
the indulgence, keywordindulgence, of the natural
appetites and passions,restrained or moderate

(04:00):
indulgence as temperance ineating and drinking, temperance
and indulgence of joy or mirth.
Temperance in eating anddrinking as opposed to gluttony
and drunkenness and in otherindulgences to excess.
What we're gonna do with thisholiday season.
Right.
Yes, did you need the other 12pieces of pumpkin pie?

(04:20):
No, but you did it anyway.
Then you couldn't move.
You were stuck on the couchwatching bad football.
And it's basically to indulgenceor excess, and then patience,
calmness sedatedness, moderationof passion.
And then he calmed his wrathwith godly temperance or self

(04:41):
control.
And it's just, it's letting youknow that it's the things of
this world.
That we're going to discuss andwe're going to tie into a little
bit deeper.
tHat we indulge in.
And it causes us to be drunkwith these things.
And to be overfed with thesethings.
Gluttony and drunkenness is notjust the physical food.

(05:05):
You can be...
Consumption of anything.
It's overconsumption ofanything.
You can be, drunken withalcohol, you can be drunken with
video games, you can be drunkenwith anything that's going to
consume your mind and cause youto alter your thinking.
Glutton, you can overeat, allkinds of stuff.
You can binge watch too much TVand overfeed on that as well.

(05:29):
Cell phones, prime example.
Yes, none of us are guilty forthat.
All of these viewers andlisteners are perfect.
No, I'm a mess, you're a mess,we're all a mess, but that's why
we're here.
Amen.
Amen.
I'm gonna go ahead and start usoff with some prayer because,
once again, that's how we hearfrom God and that's how God

(05:50):
speaks to us.
Father God, we thank you, Lord.
We thank you in this time.
We thank you for these wonderfulpeople.
We thank you for this platformcalled God Facts Podcast, this
blessed platform that isglorifying you and not man,
Lord.
This vessel that you've used usfor, Lord, to speak your word,

(06:11):
to speak your truth, Lord.
I pray that these listeners andviewers can come to the
understanding of who you arethrough these words.
I pray your Holy Spiritministers to them, that it
speaks volumes into theirspirit, volumes into their
world, and that they don't leavethe same way they came in here,
Lord.
That this is a faith that is onethat is tested Just like a good

(06:34):
piece of leather, you have towork it for it to be usable and
soft, Lord.
And so I pray that these peoplelet you continue to mold them,
to work them, and to speak tothem through your word, Lord.
Use us as mouthpieces for you,Lord.
Speak through us, Lord.
And I pray that these wordsdon't fall on deaf ears or fall
to the ground, Lord.

(06:54):
That they will fall into goodsoil, fertile soil, and hungry
soil, Lord.
Continue to feed us in thesewords, in Jesus name we pray,
amen.
Amen.
Woo! And we can stop there.
Amen.
I'm a little drunk in thespirit.
That one's okay, though.
Yeah.
Yes.
Filled with the spirit.
Filled with the spirit is okay.

(07:14):
Because it still looks like selfcontrol.
Because it's, see, the things wewere talking about before, those
are not fruitful.
Let's start it off here with...
Mom, get your Bibles, by theway.
Notebooks, man.
Do you got your Bible, sir?
Oh, look at that.
And again, guys, we're, we, forthe sake of this this channel,

(07:34):
we use the New King James Bible.
Feel free to use whatever oneyou want, as long as it is the
Word of God, and it doesn't leadyou astray.
All right we're gonna start withProverbs 3.
Five and six very common verses, ones that are used very often.
I use them almost every day.

(07:55):
I speak them out to people.
I speak them over myself.
Core verses in the Bible.
These are one of the core versesthat we as evangelical people of
faith stand on.
It is, trust in the Lord withall your heart and lean not on
your own understanding.

(08:15):
Whatever you think or hear, that's key.
In all your ways, acknowledgeHim, God.
In some of your ways?
No.
Oh.
Most of your what?
No.
No, not that either.
All.
All your ways.
That means 100%.
Everything.
All in.
If you're a poker player, youput all your chips in, but I'm

(08:36):
not condoning gambling.
I'm just saying this.
Metaphorically.
All.
You're all in.
You're all in.
You're going in blind.
Put all your eggs in one basket.
You go in and you say, Lord, Itrust you.
There it is.
And it says, in all your ways, acknowledge him and he shall
direct your paths.
thAt's key.

(08:57):
And for me, what that means iswhen you trust God with your
whole heart meaning a lack oflove for the lustful things of
the world, and seek after thethings of God aggressively.
He will literally carve out yourwalking paths.
This will give you and us agreater self.

(09:17):
Control there it is to resistthe lust and the sins of the
world like destructiveaddictions We were talking about
those things earlier with thedefinition When it was talking
about drunkenness and gluttonyand this kind of ties into that
Because when we you know, trusthim and he carves out our past

(09:39):
we have less I guess less desireto stray off of it into paths
that lead us to those things, those destructive gluttonous,
drunken, um, slothful type ofthings that don't have any self
control in there.
It's all go and no fruit.
It's like eating, it's likeeating a box of Twinkies for

(10:02):
breakfast and a box of Twinkiesfor lunch and a box of Twinkies
for dinner.
Yeah, it may taste good.
At first, but it's giving you nonutritional value.
It's not giving you anythingback.
But what it can do is producingyou some physical bad things.
Diseases diabetes.
It can do all kinds of badthings, right?

(10:24):
So just cause it...
Tastes good doesn't necessarilymean it is good.
Most things that taste good arenot.
Bingo.
Just say.
Just because it feels gooddoesn't mean it is good.
Too much sex is dangerous.
Yeah.
Especially if it's not in thewill of God or with your wife or
husband.
And something to keep in mind, something to keep in mind.

(10:47):
What do you have on that?
Anything you want to add onthat?
I'm just thinking, as you'resharing the scriptures, it takes
action for us to move in adifferent direction.
We don't just get saved and giveour life to Christ and then stay
in the same place.
And if we are trusting in Himand leaning not on our own

(11:09):
understanding, that means thatwe're leaning in the other
direction.
And we're no longer leaning intothe things that used to make us
comfortable and that now thethings that we used to find joy
with, we don't find joy withanymore.
Yep.
It's not that God is telling usthat we have to give up all the
things that were good in ourlife.
He just begins to show us thelies and the destruction behind

(11:32):
most of the things.
And if there are things that aregood for us, that we usually
will tend to overindulge inthem.
And so it's learning to balance.
And yeah, so I just think, man,God is such a loving God that He
gives us the ability to walkaway from the death and

(11:52):
destruction in our lives.
And being one myself that ishaving an addictive personality,
anything that's enjoyable in mylife, if I don't have self
control, I will make itunhealthy.
Whether it's drinking coffee,whether it's watching TV, if I
sit down and watch a TV show,And I'm not using self control,

(12:14):
I will sit there for 12 hoursand just binge a whole entire
series, right?
I'm not saying that sometimes weindulge in it, but what God is
asking is, could you be doingsomething better with that time
that's more fruitful?
Yeah, absolutely.
It's it's being conscious ofyour efforts, being conscious of
your time.
You have to remember folks.

(12:36):
That we don't have unlimited, unlimited time on this planet.
That this, from the second we'reborn, we're already, our clock
is already ticking down.
So you have to utilize it.
Like for me and him, we spentmost of our 20s and 30s, at
least for me, my 20s and 30s ina complete mess of...

(12:56):
Mine was like my teens to 20s.
Yeah, and...
And I was in complete indulgenceand gluttony and drunkenness
from all the physical, tangible, feel goody things of the world.
And I wasn't doing really muchfor the benefit of others.
It was all for...

(13:17):
self, but there was no controlin any of those.
And it's like going bowling.
If you just whip the ball downthe lane without even trying to
aim, you're going to hit it inthe gutter almost every time, or
nothing's going to happen.
But if you think about it, youlook at it, you look at the
lane, you plan out your attackand you have some control over

(13:40):
the ball and how you throw it.
Your chances of getting a strikeare that much better.
That's the same with life andwalking with God.
If you let him carve your path, and then you're not steering off
left and right, your ball isgonna go where you're supposed
to go.
You're gonna, you're gonna goright where you're supposed to
go, and God's gonna lead youdown a strike every time.

(14:00):
Yeah, so that leads me intoTitus 2.
11.
I know everybody's like, Titus,where's that?
It's actually...
One of the, one of the mostpowerful books.
It's short, but very powerful.
So Titus 2, 11, if everybody'sthere says, are you there?

(14:21):
Sorry, I'll catch up.
That's a wearable, well wornBible.
Look at that.
Look at this folks.
That's how you can tell someoneuses their sword.
It's sharp on the inside, butthe outside looks a little
funky.
That's how, as it should.
My, I have a lot of, I don'tknow, look like that, but.
There's a couple I have thatI've had for a long time, amen.

(14:45):
So Titus 2 11 says for the graceof God that brings salvation has
appeared to all men.
Some?
All?
Was it some?
Not some men?
Not the chosen righteous?
No, all.
All men.
That's key.
You guys honing in on this theseare, any time it says in the

(15:06):
Bible all, or shall, or will, those are very important because
God is speaking and He's lettingyou know His omnipotence and His
omnipresent how powerful He, howHe is in the kingdom of God.
It says, For the grace of Godthat brings salvation has
appeared to all men, teaching usthat denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should livesoberly.

(15:30):
Righteously and godly in thepresent age.
Our world is a mess folks.
Our world is a complete disasterTurn on any media outlet for
longer than three minutes You'regonna think your world's gonna
explode right then and thereit's just it's chaos And that's
why we need this word to keep usgrounded.

(15:50):
And deny those things that areungodly.
Live righteously.
Soberly.
If you struggle with alcohol,quit.
Go get some counseling.
Go to AA.
Go to a treatment program.
Go to a, Teen Challenge or aSalvation Army.
Go somewhere where you can bearound like minded believers.
It truly helps.

(16:12):
And then it says right here,Looking for the blessed hope and
glorious appearing of our greatGod and Savior Jesus Christ.
That's our hope.
That's our hope right there.
That's the only hope we have, guys.
That's it.
There is no other hope.
Jesus is it.
And it says, Who gave himselffor us?
That's me and that's that allpart, it's us, that He might

(16:34):
redeem us from every lawlessdeed and purify for Himself, His
own special people, zealous forgood works.
So it's Christ that redeems.
It's Christ that pulls us fromour lawless deeds and purifies
us from all the wickedness andstuff that we've been trying to
do without any self control,right?
We must literally deny.

(16:56):
There's no.
Write this down.
Put your mitt up.
Catch this one.
As Deborah George would say, Wemust literally deny and walk
away and divorce and reject allforms of ungodliness in our
lives.
The present age is filled withMy truth.
An excessive consumption of sex, drugs, and idolatry like video

(17:18):
games and cell phones we justtalked about.
The only way to avoid this islooking for and to Jesus Christ
in everything we say or do.
He is our only hope.
Our only hope, like I said itbefore.
That is the only thing thatgives us true self control.

(17:40):
So it's not like Proverbs 6 willgo back on to that.
It says, lean not on your ownunderstanding because our own
understanding won't do anythingfor us.
But if we trust in Christ as ourhope and our true hope and our
Redeemer, that's that His powerthrough us by the Holy Spirit is
what's going to bring us into aright alignment.

(18:01):
So we can have more selfcontrol.
So we will have godly fear ofthe Lord, which is a good thing.
It stops us from going, Iprobably could drink that, but I
probably shouldn't.
Right.
I probably could sleep with her,but I probably shouldn't, cause
I this, Last time I did thatthis, and this happened.
Yeah.
And it was all bad, right?
It gives you, an understandingbeforehand before you act on

(18:26):
things before you overindulge insomething before you eat all the
Twinkies before you binge watchNetflix for 22 hours straight
when you could have been doinghomework.
Working on something, spendingtime with your wife, spending
time with your kids, whatever, spending time in God's word,
whatever.
And Christ is what's going tokeep us from that, guys, for all

(18:48):
people, for us, that he mightredeem us from every lawless
deed and purify himself.
Yeah.
It's amazing.
It's It's sometimes hard todescribe, but, and I think we've
talked about this on herebefore, but, when we were in the
world and without Christ, Um, wedid whatever we wanted, right?

(19:13):
And it was self centered.
When we come into a relationshipwith Jesus Christ, this divorce
of the world that you speak of,when we come into a relationship
with Jesus Christ, this is wherea lot of Christians get stuck is
because they...
In that moment of receivingChrist, they acknowledge and
receive the wisdom that they areto repent and turn from their

(19:35):
sin.
But a lot of Christians nevermove past turning away from.
And so they stand in a positionwhere their whole walk is a
lukewarm, as they would say, ordouble minded walk with Christ
because they turn from theirsin.
But they don't draw near to him.
They don't read the word.
They don't get fed.
Maybe more than showing up onSunday.

(19:57):
And maybe a Bible study here andthere.
And when you live thatlifestyle, what happens is that
we're still filled with theworld.
We're not divorced from theworld.
We're not moving into our newright relationship.
And so what happens is we standstill.
And then we wonder why we keepgoing back to the same junk.
Why we keep going back to thesame sin.

(20:18):
And as much as we try to willourself.
See, that's the key, is we tryto, in our own strength, will
ourself Our own understandingOut of the sin that we know
we're feeling convicted of Butwe're not being self disciplined
to move and fill ourself Withthe presence of God And so as
long as we stay in a positionwhere we're not moving And our

(20:41):
walk with Christ looks like usgoing back and forth We'll stay
in a lukewarm position till theday we die And I fear for you
and I fear for myself to hearthose words that Christ is in
his word that I did all thesethings and God says, I never
knew you who don't want to hearthat.
I don't want to hear that.
So self discipline is such avital part.

(21:03):
Of us not only having arelationship with God, but to
set us free.
He didn't come into arelationship to marry us as
prostitutes that stay, keepwhoring ourself around.
Ooh, there it is.
And I was just, not to cut youoff, I was just literally
listening to that this morningin Ezekiel, where it talks about

(21:23):
their whoredoms and with theAssyrians.
Right.
And that...
Right, and if you guys haven'tread Ezekiel 1 or 2 I'm talking
about, but it's the Bible'smetaphor for being harlot to the
world being Seeking after thoselusts and whoredoms and
willfully and in excess Andthat's not what he called us to.

(21:46):
He says, I'm returning from mybride without blemish.
So we need to have selfdiscipline to find ourselves in
the right position that Godalways intended us to be in.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
So the spiritual wounds,emotional wounds.
Right here, right?
Yeah.
Biblically, self control or lackthereof goes.

(22:09):
to the deepest parts of who weare, which is the heart.
It begins with control of ouremotions and then includes our
minds as well.
And if we look in Jeremiah 17, 9through 10, it says, The heart
is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.
Who can know it?

(22:30):
I, the Lord, search the heart, test the mind, even to give
every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his
doings.
So this is, we must learn tocontrol our emotions, which only
can be done through lettingJesus heal our emotional and
spiritual wounds.

(22:51):
And I think we talked on thisbefore, but I encourage you guys
to seek the word in this, butit's this really beautiful thing
that only can be found inunderstanding his word as we
study him and study what hesays, because when Adam and Eve
were in the garden, they were ina right relationship where their

(23:13):
heart knowledge, the mindknowledge hadn't been awoke.
Right?
They were in a heart knowledge,in a relationship with Jesus,
with God, Jesus Christ, HolySpirit, right?
All were there in the beginning, all three are one, and yet
separate at the same time,and...
And so Adam and Eve, theoriginal humans, were in a right

(23:33):
position of a heartrelationship.
When they ate the tree, thefruit of the tree of knowledge,
it awoke their brain.
It awoke this knowledge that wasnever meant to be.
Because God wanted the fullnessof our relationship to be
dependent on Him.
Yes.
And to have this free will.
And when we allowed sin to comeinto the picture, it separated

(23:57):
us.
It says in the Word that theyhid themselves.
From God and clothed themselvesbecause they were ashamed of
what they saw their mind wasawoke to this And so when we
come into a relationship withJesus Christ until he returns
Jesus Christ the second Adamawoke our hearts again and made

(24:17):
it so that now we have theknowledge of both the mind in
the heart And so this separationthat we talk about is a struggle
for most of us because we havethe knowledge of the mind, we
have the knowledge of the heart, the mind has been awake much
longer than the heart has, andif we don't divorce it and we
don't separate it, then theheart becomes just a piece

(24:38):
that's dictated by emotions, andit says that it's deceitful.
So to know it and discern itmeans that we have to step into
the knowledge of God more thanthe world.
So it's self discipline that wehave to do something to fill
this new knowledge of.
It's not going to just fillitself up.
We have to fill it withunderstanding of who God is.

(25:01):
Which then separates our mindfrom the things of the world.
And then we can begin tounderstand the parts that need
the healing.
So that we have control over ouremotions.
Yeah that's powerful because inorder to have control over the
emotions, you have to be in tunewith what the father is putting
into you and speaking to you andtrying to cultivate in you.

(25:26):
And that.
I just want to touch on a versethat God put on my heart.
It's 5.
Now this is talking about, andhere are the principles of
marriage.
Concerning the man and woman, sexual immorality.
Talks about having one wife.
it's talking about the husbandwith giving his wife the

(25:49):
affection due to her and her thesame to him.
But in verse 5, this says, Donot deprive one another except
with consent for a time that youmay give yourselves to fasting
and prayer.
That, and come together again sothat Satan does not tempt you
because of your lack of selfcontrol.

(26:11):
That, I think, is very importantbecause fasting is going to give
you greater self control inthings that are natural.
Because you're taking everythinginto subjection, you're taking,
you're saying, Lord, I'm goingto fast from these carnal
things.
I'm going to fast from, indulging in food.
I'm going to fast fromovereating.

(26:33):
I'm going to eat less.
I'm going to go on a differentdiet.
I'm going to do whatever, fastfrom TV, fast from a phone, fast
from something.
When you do it unto the Lord, that gives you self control.
That gives you greater selfcontrol.
That gives you the ability towalk out with fear and
trembling, the things that, thatGod has called you to do.

(26:54):
Because you'll be in a rightstanding with Him.
You'll be in a You'll be in amode, an attitude of gratitude.
You'll be in a mindset of Godand say, okay, Lord, take me.
I'm gonna sacrifice this todaybecause I really want to fix
this and to work on this.
Go deeper with you.
Go deeper with you because I amlacking in these areas.
I don't have control of thisarea.

(27:15):
And And and then just as you'resharing, I also think it's, even
good emotions are deceitful.
Yeah.
I've heard many times peoplesay, well, I just don't feel his
presence.
I just don't feel.
It's like, well, God was neverabout your feelings, right?
There are times that we willfeel a joy and then we'll relate

(27:37):
that Especially if the churchhas hyped you up to think that
every time you have a joyfulExperience or you have a intense
emotional experience that is thepresence of God.
Yeah, he can be in that But thatis not his presence.
His presence looks like thosestill moments where we're, where
we feel so alone, but yet wetrust that his.

(27:58):
Word says he's with us neverreturns void and we have to
understand that you know Soyeah, it's important to know
that even good emotions.
That's not what we're seekingafter right where we're seeking
to have Self discipline.
Yes that transcends throughemotional experiences that taps
into A faith in a disciplined, obedient walk with God.

(28:23):
Amen.
And self control over the mindand thoughts before actions can
be controlled.
Turn with me to Romans 12, 2.
Romans 12, 2.
Romans Buehler.
Old school.
Oh, that dated me.
aLl you over 40 crowd willunderstand that, what that

(28:45):
means.
Romans 12.
2 says, And do not be conformedto this world, but be
transformed by the renewingof...
Your mind, that you may provewhat is good and acceptable and
perfect will of God.
That's the perfect will of God.

(29:06):
It's not your own understanding.
That's not conforming to theworld.
It's letting God transform yourmind through the things we were
just talking about.
Which means it takes action.
Exactly.
It takes effort, it takesaction, it takes sacrifice.
But obedience is better thansacrifice.
2 Corinthians 10, 5 says,Casting down arguments in every

(29:27):
high thing, That's key.
Hone in on that.
Every high thing, That exaltsitself against the knowledge of
God.
Basically, anything in your lifethat's trying to play God.
Anything that goes before Him.
Anything that goes before Him,whether it's serving Satan, the
demons the sex, the drugs, thewrong...

(29:48):
Anything you put higher than Godin your life and make it your
God.
That we have to cast it down.
Even ministry.
Even, yeah.
If you're making it an idol.
Absolutely.
That's why it says, Casting downevery high thing that exalts
itself against the knowledge ofGod.
It's pushing against the, it'strying to be God, but it's not.
And it says, Bringing everythought into captivity to the

(30:10):
obedience of Christ.
Again, like I said before, obedience is better than
sacrifice.
Sacrifice is good.
To bring your body tosubjection, but the true nature
of the sacrifice like fasting isyou're being obedient with the
word God says you're sacrificingyourself by your obedience to
trust in the word, yourobedience to trust in God, your
obedience to want to be better, your obedience to have a

(30:32):
repentant heart, your obedienceto say, God, I don't want to be
this person anymore.
Change who I am.
This is how I'm going to showyou that I want to do this.
And it's just all these thingsthat tie in together.
And, breaking old thoughtpatterns is so key in our walk
because Yeah.
That the old way that we thoughtbefore will keep us captive in

(30:55):
our old lifestyle.
tHe thoughts of, less than, thethoughts that make us think
we're more than.
The thoughts that were therebecause of what people spoke
over us.
All these thoughts will keep us.
Because it's out of our headknowledge of who we used to be.
Not who we are now.

(31:15):
And as long as we align ourselfwith the thoughts, and allow
them to control us, just likethe emotions, then we'll keep
ourselves continuously stuck.
and captive rather than movinginto the freedom of Christ.
And so we must take them captiveand discern them.
Are these thoughts from God?
Or are these the thoughts thatwere of my flesh and of the

(31:37):
enemy that speak of who I usedto be and not who I am?
That's it.
And and that's because when wewere in the world or apart from
God, our thoughts controlled theway we speak and act.
But now...
We operate out of heartknowledge, a relationship with
God, and must practice selfdiscipline to take brain

(32:00):
thoughts under control and actonly upon God's word.
Lean not on your ownunderstanding.
Amen.
Amen.
I'm telling you, Proverbs 3, ifyou don't have it memorized,
memorize it, because it isimportant.
Take that self discipline.
You can tie Proverbs 3, in withRomans 8.
Romans, the whole chapter ofRomans 8.

(32:23):
Powerful stuff.
Well, speaking of Romans, thatbrings us to our next section
that we're going to cover.
Amen.
Romans 12 one.
I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God
that you present your bodies asa living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable to God, which is yourreasonable service, or in the

(32:44):
ESV it says, as your spiritualworship.
When we show self control overour bodies, we are literally
worshiping God with oursacrifice.
It is pleasing to God.
Amen! Amen.
And again, we have to completelydivorce, separate from the sins
of the world in order to bemarried to the lamb of God,

(33:08):
Jesus Christ.
Amen.
So if we're gonna be married tohim, he doesn't want us to be in
a multi marriage relationship.
He wants all of us.
No, no polygamy.
No polygamy with Jesus.
Amen?
And then 1 Corinthians 9 25.
Again, that's 1 Corinthians 925.

(33:30):
For those in the back, 1Hopefully you have your
notebooks and pens with you.
Don't let us do all the heavylifting for you.
And everyone who competes forthe prize is temperate.
In all things now they do it toobtain a perishable crown, but
we for an imperishable 26Therefore I run thus not with

(33:55):
uncertainty thus I fight not asone who beats the air verse 27,
but I discipline my body andbring it into subjection less
When I have purse one less whenI have preached to others.
I myself should becomedisqualified So we disqualify
ourselves from winning the racewith God when we don't show

(34:18):
restraint and disciplinephysically and spiritually.
We must be temperate in allthings.
We hope in an eternal promise ofa crown that cannot be taken
from us in Christ Jesus.
That's eternal salvation.
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
The thing that's so beautifulabout walking in a relationship

(34:40):
with Jesus Christ and is that Hedoesn't say here's everything
that's wrong with you.
Yes.
Now go fix it all right now, right?
He doesn't say you're just a hotmess and every single part of
you is junk right now.
Go fix it in the self disciplineWhat's so beautiful is he will
be bring conviction into areasin our walk, I think about you

(35:04):
know With lustfulness when Ibegan my walk with the Lord.
I used to have lots of figurinesand stuff that were very like
lustful characters, lustful, just magazines, not even porn,
just lustful and the things Iwould watch.
And God began by correcting meand saying, are these things
what I would want in your life?

(35:25):
And then as I removed him, thenhe began to show me other
things.
And then he said, okay, now youneed to work on this part of the
loss.
Now you need to work.
And so it's beautiful is thatthe self discipline is that he
walks us through this to set usfree from the sin.
And when that sin is no longerin our life, it's not like we
go, Ooh, I'm free.
He says, Oh, the question is,okay, what's next Lord.

(35:47):
Right.
And sometimes it's a couple ofthings that he's working on.
And so there's always somethingin our life.
For us to be working on rightnow.
I'm working on self disciplinein the area of my eating habits.
There you go I'm working on selfdiscipline in my exercise.
So there's Continuously and inwhat's beautiful is it builds

(36:07):
our character?
He doesn't just do it tochastise us He doesn't just do
it to hold authority over us Heasked us for self discipline so
that our character can be builtAnd that we can find ourself on
a firm foundation that can't beshaken Built.
Keyword, built.
You have to build the house.

(36:30):
You have to build your faith.
What's the, what's that what'sthat verse?
I know this too, and I shouldknow this.
It's just, it says all thingsare purposeful, then all things
are profitable.
Look that up.
It's, I know there's going to bea lot of people that are going
to be like in the comments, Iknow what it is.

(36:50):
I know what it is too.
I'm just drawing a blank here.
It's been a long day.
First Corinthians 10.
First Corinthians 10, 23.
What's that say?
Read that.
In the New King James.
The New King Jimmy.
This is important guys too.
This is a powerful verse.

(37:12):
The Holy, see the Holy Spiritput that on my spirit and.
Because he wants you guys tohear this.
All things are lawful for me,but all things are not
expedient.
All things are lawful for me,but all things edify not.
Mmm.
It's, we have to be careful, right?
We have to be careful, uh, whenwe present our bodies as a

(37:34):
living sacrifice.
We have to remember that...
It's, all things.
Is it all things?
Is it going to benefit me?
How's it going to benefit me?
Just because it, does one thingfor the physical, will it do it
for the spiritual?
Yeah.
Is it going to feed my spirit?
And that's the important thing.

(37:55):
What you do in the natural, itaffects your spirit, big time.
Especially if you're not linedup with what the Word says.
It can either benefit you or itcan hurt you.
You can open doors to thedemonic if you're not
sacrificing and being obedientto the things of the Spirit.
And the beautiful thing is, youguys, no matter where you're at

(38:15):
in your walk, God just asks youto start to step out in faith.
He asks you just to start toapply...
Self discipline.
He doesn't expect you to get itperfect.
He knows you're gonna fail atit.
But as long as we continue towork at it.
Yes.
What we will find, and I canspeak as one that has found
myself, that as we work out oursalvation with fear and

(38:37):
trembling, as we work on ourwalk of developing the fruits of
the Spirit, that we begin tofall in love with the process.
And I desire, not that I, nolonger do I look at it as a
burden, But I desire to godeeper in my self discipline
because I know it draws mecloser to God.

(38:59):
It brings me into a betterrelationship with Him.
I can hear from Him clearer.
I can go into the world withouthaving any hindrances in my
emotions or my thoughts.
Because when there's active sin,it draws our attention away from
God, right?
When we have active sin in ourlife, and we are being convicted
of it, it draws our attention, our prayer life, our focus is

(39:23):
on, I shouldn't do this, but Ido it.
I shouldn't do this, but I doit.
And as long as we stay in that, then we don't move anywhere.
And so we have to begin to beobedient, to work out our
salvation, to be obedient to theself discipline, to desire that
so that we can draw closer toHim and to be in the fullness of

(39:44):
Christ.
And I know I, for myself, it'slike, I can't ever get enough of
it.
What else do I need to do in mylife to have more of you?
What else do I need to give upin my life?
Because the things.
Of the world, I no longerconsider joy.
That's it.
The things of the world nolonger bring me pleasure.
Right.
So why am I going to go back totemporary pleasures when I can

(40:08):
plug into the fullness of Christthat fulfills every desire and
need?
And so I must be obedient to myself discipline and I just
encourage you guys, just startto walk it out because the more
you have of it, the more you'lldesire it.
Amen.
Paul said something like, why doI do what I do?
And I know it was wrong.
I know it is bad.

(40:29):
What verse is that?
If you guys haven't noticed, I'mnot an address.
I know where the word says, buthopefully this guy can find it
because Paul, if you study Paul,we've talked about him a lot
because.
He's my favorite character inthe Bible.
A lot of people it's Job orPeter or Matthew, but Paul I

(40:51):
resonate with a lot.
Just because of the former...
my former self and the now guythat you're seeing talking to.
Because I had that moment.
I had that encounter withChrist.
Not necessarily completelyblinded, but it was radical.
So we're gonna be in Romans 7.

(41:12):
15 for that.
Romans again.
Romans 7.
15 for that.
And I'm gonna read...
I knew it was somewhere aroundthere.
I was gonna say Romans 8, butthat's not it.
Romans 8 talks a lot about themind being transformed.
For what I am doing, I do notunderstand.
For what I will do...
For what I will to do, that I donot practice, but what I hate

(41:36):
that I do.
Mmm.
For what I am doing, I do notunderstand.
For what I will to do, that I donot practice, but what I hate
that I do.
See that?
It's a whole lot of self rightthere.
Yeah that's Paul who was so soldout for Christ, to the point of

(41:57):
imprisonment and torture andeventually being killed you have
to remember that his conversionwas so powerful and yet he still
felt, still struggled withthings and he's like, why, Lord,
I know that it's not, I know I'mnot supposed to do this, but why
am I still doing it?
I know it's wrong.

(42:17):
We should find some grease forourself in that.
Yeah.
And, cause he was completelysold out for Christ, so
everything he talked about wasChrist Jesus.
He even said it was not aboutme, it's about him.
And then, but he's also beingtransparent here with his
confession of faith too, thatsays confess your faults to one
another.
That's him doing it through hiswords, because he knew, hey, I'm

(42:40):
going through this, I gotta putthis down, because other people
are gonna go through this, andthey need to know that you can
be healed.
You can have self control inChrist.
Yes, we can.
Even if you fall, because itsays, all have fallen short of
the glory of God.
There's that all again, amen.
Yeah, not some, not most.
That includes you and me,hallelujah.
All, you will fall every day.

(43:01):
It may not be an extreme catcatastrophe, but we're all gonna
sin, we're all gonna struggle,we're all gonna fall.
It's how you get up thatdetermines how you finish your
day.
We're ready for some keytakeaways.
Absolutely.
Key takeaways from today, ourlast fruit of the spirit, self
discipline.

(43:22):
And because it's our last, weadded a fourth.
We have four takeaways.
Come on, four.
Man, are they ready for that?
I don't know if they're readyfor four takeaways or takeaways.
Get your pen and paper ready.
You hit him with the okie doke.
Number one, self disciplinebegins from denying our were our

(43:42):
old ways.
To learn ourselves as newcreations in Jesus Christ take
away number one self disciplinebegins From denying our old ways
to learn ourselves as newcreations in Jesus Christ deny
Takeaway number two.
We must heal and learn todiscipline our emotions.

(44:05):
Oh Number two is that we mustheal And learn to discipline our
emotions.
Number three, we must disciplineour thoughts.
Number three is that we mustdiscipline our thoughts and our
last.
And fourth, take away of thefruit of the spirit, we must
divorce or separate from theworld and learn to fully be

(44:28):
married or connected to God'swill for our life.
Yes.
Amen.
Come out and be separate.
Amen.
The word says it, not me.
And we are of this world, butnot, or we are in this world,
but not of it.
That's that divorce.
Christ serves the enemy, theforces of darkness and evil.

(44:52):
He serves them.
Notice you have been bought witha price that you're no longer
bound by contract to thosethings, which you once were
before him.
And so that is essentially yourdecree of divorce from those
things of the world because hesays you're bought with the

(45:14):
price.
So he signed his, he signed it,his, the price that he signed it
in was blood.
He signed your contract inblood, the ultimate sacrifice.
And so divorce in this sense isnot to be taken lightly.
It's if it's, you're only to bemarried to one and that's
Christ.
You can be married to your wifein the natural, but.

(45:36):
It's Christ we have to come andbecome one and become married
with and joined with and be incommunion with and love and have
covenant and relationship.
That's the most important thingbecause everything else falls
into place.
Once we do that.
Man, that was a powerfulepisode.
Amen.
Amen.

(45:57):
That is good stuff.
Whoo, 49 minutes, man.
Hopefully everybody didn't fallasleep on us.
They're like, man, that's thelongest podcast I've ever heard.
So for you freethinkers and factfinders, here's a little more
for you to take away from thisepisode 9 on self control.
Continue to reread thescriptures.

(46:18):
Mentioned in this episode, we'llfocus again on Galatians 23.
Always seek God and His Word andhow to build these in your life.
Don't forget to pray for thebreakthrough in your life.
All throughout the Bible, prayeris your weapon.
Prayer is how you hear.
Faith comes by hearing, andhearing comes out of the Word of
God.

(46:38):
How you hear from God.
And don't expect an answer rightaway.
Pray.
Sit.
Wait.
And then see if he speaks toyou, if he doesn't speak to you
right away keep waiting Itdoesn't mean don't go to work.
It just means continue to waiton him and also guys don't

And, again, if you're leavinghere different than you came in,
then we did what we weresupposed to.
Amen.
Then God used us, spoke throughus, his word never returns void.

(48:11):
And that should give you, itshould give you hope.
Your heart's being healed.
Right?
On that note, I'm gonna let JCpray us out of here.
Amen.
Let these folks get about theirday father guy.
Thank you for this.
Yes, podcast today about selfdiscipline I know it spoke to me

(48:32):
as we were going through itlord.
I pray that we feel convictedlord I pray that the lies of the
devil that would condemn us thatwe rebuke and bind in the name
of jesus But we would allow youto convict Does to move us into
action.
Father God, may we not besatisfied with our walk.
May we not be satisfied with ourrelationship, but desire to go

(48:54):
deeper into your presence, to godeeper and to be set free in the
fullness of Christ, to walk fromglory to glory, to know that we
are above and not below ourproblems.
Father God, that the fruits ofthe spirit would abound
plentiful in those lives.
That are listening in the livesof us that are speaking right
now.

(49:15):
May we be continuously found inthe presence of God.
Jesus Christ, we ask Lord thatas we become self disciplined
over every area of our life,Father God, that the world would
see you before it sees us.
And that the, when we look uponthe world through the eyes of
the discernment of the selfdiscipline in our self, that we

(49:37):
would see the world through thecross before we see it in the
flesh, Father God.
And so Lord, as we leave here,we give you glory and honor.
We thank you, Lord.
For your chastising and yourrebuking.
We thank you, Lord, for theareas in our life that you
correct us so that we may becomeinto the fear of the Lord as we
work out our salvation and fearand trembling, knowing that it

(50:01):
brings us into eternal existencehere and now, and not just for
eternity, but right now in thismoment, we give you all the
glory honor.
We pray these things in Jesus.
Amen.
And we will see you on the nextone.
God bless.
Christ said, I go to prepare aplace for you.

(50:21):
And if I go to prepare a placefor you, I will come again and
receive you unto myself andwhere I am, there you may be
also.
