Speaker 2 (00:11):
Welcome to the Good
Neighbor Podcast.
Are you in need of a path tofeel your best with expert
massage therapy in Fort Collins?
That comes to you.
Today.
I have the pleasure ofintroducing your good neighbor,
Matthew Schroeder, withSchroeder Massage.
Matthew, how's it going?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
It's going.
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
We're excited to
learn all about you and your
practice.
Tell us about it.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
So yeah, it's pretty
much I started back in October
of 2025 or 24.
And after working at MassageGenvy for the past five years
and after working at Massage Genfor the past five years, it's
very much focused on a lot ofmore rehab therapy, focused type
of massage, deep tissue, allthe things and just doing the
best I can to help alleviate anytype of pain or trying to get
(00:56):
back people to the best of theirshape.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
How did?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
you get into the
business.
So we're gonna get into this.
But pretty much, uh, when Imoved to the States back in uh
2015 and such 2014 and 2015 toColorado, uh I very much was
wanting to go pursue uhphysiotherapy.
I'd agree in there.
But uh, seeing how there was amaster's degree and a lot of
(01:22):
other things with transferringof um in-state tuition,
out-of-state tuition and suchmassage therapy popped up and
from there I pretty much foundthe love of just being the
middleman and helping assistpeople with the most typical
day-to-day things to rehab, tohelping them with chiros and
(01:42):
physios and such.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
What are some myths
or misconceptions in your
industry?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I'd say that massage
is only for people who are
active or who are very much inthe younger demographic and such
.
I'd say massage is for everyone.
That could be in varied shapesand forms our geriatric massage,
all the way to like prenatal toeven with, you know, babies,
(02:09):
toddlers and such.
I'd say overall, you know, yes, there's finances to it, but I
do believe that massage is foreveryone and if it is a priority
in your life, it'll help a lot,and also not only that, I'll
also help with the fact that itwill potentially have you avoid
(02:29):
any type of injuries.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
I'm sure there's a
market of people that don't know
that they need you out there.
Who are you targeting like thatright now and how are you
targeting them?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
So I work out at a
gym Valor Gym and so pretty much
a lot of gym people who aretrying to help, you know, be
better versions of themselves,as well as my clients from the
past six years, where they'retrying to just feel the best
versions of themselves to, youknow, go out the day just 100%
of themselves.
My motto is pretty much justaspire to ascend.
(03:00):
So it's just people who want tobe better, who want to strive
to be the best versions ofthemselves, to tackle on the day
with, you know, the best theycan be.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
We know the marketing
is the heart of every business.
Have you ever thought aboutdoing your own podcast?
Speaker 3 (03:18):
No, I've actually
never been.
I've been asked.
One of my buddies is alsowanting to do a podcast, but
that could be a potentialthought and such.
I'm still new to the marketingaspects and such.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Understood Outside of
work.
What do you do for fun?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
So I'm very much
involved with the Fort Collins
Volleyball Group and such.
I'll show up at City Parkalmost every day, if I can.
Some days will be busier Days, like you know, where it looks
like it's rainy.
That's not going to work toomuch.
I also play a lot of soccer andoutside of that I have a lot of
friends all over the globe.
So, from skype, which is, Ifeel like it's an outdated uh
(03:56):
app at this point, you're proudto use that.
Go ahead skype, whatsappmessenger, whatever you want to
call it.
I have friends in Cambodia.
My dad lives in the Philippines.
I have people community, ifthat's the best way to explain
it.
I miss connecting and wouldlove to always connect to my
community around me.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Let's switch gears.
Can you describe a lifechallenge or a hardship that you
overcame and how it made youstronger?
What comes to mind?
Speaker 3 (04:25):
hardship that you
overcame and how it made you
stronger.
What comes to mind, honestly, when I first moved to the states
, I if we want to talk about theuh like enneagram or none of
the enneagram, the uhmyers-briggs thing I was like an
infp.
So, moving to the states, I wasthis very introverted guy who
knew nothing, who very much.
Was it all right, I had tochoose Do I stay like I was back
in Cambodia or do I try to putmyself out there to start
(04:50):
learning things, to startunderstanding the community, the
culture, the ideologies, allthe things and such.
And then, even after a year, Imoved to Colorado in 2015, which
I had to seek out community andunderstand where my path went
from having to change from thePT to massage and such.
But overall, with a huge thanksto my friends and a lot of my
(05:15):
family members that moved hereor visited, I was able to very
much pick myself up and withtheir firm foundation, I was
able to pretty much make acommunity that I can call home
now here.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
That's beautiful,
Matthew.
Please tell our listeners onething they should absolutely
remember about Schroeder Massage.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I'd say you should
remember that, with my motto
aspire to ascend.
I'm there with very much.
What your needs are, we'll talk.
We'll try to figure out whatare the.
What's your vision, whether itbe more of a maintenance thing
to just very much.
You know this is going to be asix week thing, 12 week.
Whatever it'll be like, I'mthere for you and most of all,
(05:57):
we're there to help you andwhatever that is.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
How can our listeners
learn more about Schroeder

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I have a Facebook
page, schroeder Massage LLC.
I also do work out of Valor Gym, owned by Tim Anderson and such
.
I just rent out a room fromthere, located right in front of
Fort Collins High School andsuch.
Otherwise, I pretty much willbe up and around with coaching
(06:29):
events, coach soccer and suchtoo, and sponsoring a couple
places here in town, so you'llsee me out and about for sure.
