Memorial Day 2026 - The Families of the Fallen Program at Home Base

It's Memorial Day 2026 and wishing everyone a special and peaceful week. Home Base was built in 2008 to serve veterans, and it was immediately clear that taking care of the family was just as vital. Military families are like their own cohort, their own tribe. Yes, supporting one’s servicemember or veteran is in the blood of the military family, however supporting themselves is critical and often overlooked. It’s the priority of putting that oxygen mask on that cannot be overemphasized. In this Episode, we’ll explore this, featuring one of the participants of our Families of the Fallen (FOF) Intensive Clinical Program, Shanyce Beamsderfer who takes us along with her on an eye opening visit to the Elizabeth Stewart Gardner Museum. We'll have ICP Social Work Team Lead Clare Stupinksy take us deeper into the FOF history and key aspects of the program, and Chuck Clough, musician who leads our FOF group listening (and sometimes dancing) events.

The ICP is a big step for people struggling with loss, grief and trauma. If you or anyone you know is struggling, contact us at 617-724-5202 and / or go to homebase.org/program/icpff/ for more information. Also, you can learn more about our partners at TAPS of course at taps.org

Home Base Nation is the official podcast for the Home Base Program for Veterans and Military Families. Our team sees veterans, service members, and their families addressing the invisible wounds of war at no cost. This is all made possible thanks to a grateful nation.
