difference does the resurrectionmake?
The second answer in this seriesof questioning is, it makes a

Welcome back to Hope Today.
Don't you find that we spendweeks thinking about Jesus'
birth?
We spend more weeks thinkingabout Christ's death, and then
there's Easter.
One Sunday.
Of course, we could argue thatevery Sunday is Resurrection
Sunday.
We celebrate the truth of itevery week, and that would be
true.
But it still seems to me that wemiss the chance to reflect on
(10:23):
the wonder of the resurrectionand its impact with only one
special Sunday.
So during these opening weeks ofApril, I want us to think of the
wonder of the resurrection andask the question, what
difference does the resurrectionmake?
Matt Meyer joyfully proclaims,He is risen.
SPEAKER_11 (10:54):
We fix the rise from the Christ and read.
SPEAKER_00 (14:42):
They didn't believe in the resurrection of the dead
whatsoever.
So Paul writes to thesebelievers and says, Of course
there's such a thing as theresurrection.
And he goes on to say, if Christhas not been raised, then your
faith is futile.
There it is.
There's the difference.
Without the truth of theresurrection, our faith is
useless.
It's like a bucket with a hole.

I was stricken hard.
But he felt something else as helistened to that.
Oh God, I'm grateful that Idon't have to cry that cry for
the leader of my soul.
Oh Jesus, come back, come back.
We're orphaned and strickenwithout you.
I do not cry that cry.
He has come back.

It is the third day, and he'salive.
It's the great truth ofChristianity.
We serve a risen Savior.
Our faith is not futile.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ makes all the
difference in the world to ourfaith.
In what way?
And that it gives us assuranceof sins forgiven.
First Corinthians chapter 15,verse 17 says, If Christ has not
been raised, your faith isfutile.
You are still in your sin.

How do we know that the deathwas accepted?
How do we know that God wassatisfied and completed?
And the answer is theresurrection.
Jesus rose from the dead.
His sacrificial death wasaccepted by God, and therefore
he was released from sin'spenalty.
He was released from death.

The resurrection proves that hisdeath did the work that we could
not do.
Our sin is completely paid for.

What difference does the resurrection make?
It makes all the difference inthe world to your faith.
Listen, if the cross was the endof the story, if Jesus died and
was buried and that was it, itwould mean that God did not
accept his sacrifice.
And it would mean that you and Iare still lost in our sins.
It would not have beenproclaimed righteous in God's
eye.

The sacrifice was accepted andwe are free from the
resurrection makes a differenceto our faith.
We can be assured our sins areforgiven.
We don't have to wonder ifChrist's sacrifice was
acceptable.
It was.
Because death, the result ofsin, could not hold him.
Clearly, our sin has been paidfor, and we now have assurance

The resurrection makes adifference to our faith.

purchases, but I love them.
My wallet is stuck full ofreceipts when I do any kind of
shopping.
Because they prove that Ipurchased the item.
I don't want to go to the storewith it.

What about your sin?
I believe in Jesus Christ and hedied for me.
What about your sin?
Surely you're condemned.
You can look him in the eye andsay, Jesus lives, and his life

is the assurance of my beingcleansed from my sin.
For if the penalty had not beenpaid, he would still be dead.
But he lives forevermore.
There's the receipt, Satan.
Do you see the assurance youhave?
Jesus rose from the dead.

You know there are some people who believe that
even though they have faith inJesus Christ, even though they
believe that he died for themand instead of them, they
believe that their hope ofliving for God now and with God
in eternity is slim.
That Jesus has opened the doorof forgiveness and eternal life,
but just a crack.
They believe that there is stilla safety chain across the door,
(43:46):
and if they obey the law andlive a good life, they'll be
able to squeeze into heaven.
But that's not the gospel.
The good news is that Jesus hascompleted the world, he has done
all that is required, he hasmade an end to sin.
And open the door for us toenter into righteousness and
fullness and freedom and withgreat joy.
(44:06):
Whosoever believes in him is notcondemned and never can be.
Because of our Lord'sresurrection, we live under the
open sky of God's grace.
When I'm in the country, I loveto take a deep breath.
And take it in the fresh countryair.
My friend, today, I want you totake a deep breath and breathe
(44:30):
in the fresh air of God's grace.
For too long, some of you, eventhough you believe in Jesus
Christ, even though you'veexperienced his grace and have
been baptized and confessed himas Savior and Lord, for too
long, you remain under Satan'sarm.
You continue to allow Satan tocondemn you.
And you don't believe that yoursin has been completely done
away with.
(44:51):
You are breathing in aconstricted air of condemnation
and guilt and remorse.
But you need to take a deepbreath and take in the amazing
air of God's grace through faithin Christ.
He's made you new, he's givenyou freedom.
You are a new creation.
The resurrection has made thedifference.

You continue to allow Satan tocondemn you.
And you don't believe that yoursin has been completely done
away with.

But you need to take a deepbreath and take in the amazing
air of God's grace through faithin Christ.
He's made you new, he's givenyou freedom.
