of course, we're gonna tell avery Cheesy Jo.
Hi, Chuck.
Welcome to Cheese Bitesepisode, Chuck. Before we get into
poor Chuck E's news, let'stalk a little bit about his history.
Back in 1977, Chuck E. Cheeseopened its very first location in

(00:46):
San Jose, California. Backthen it was called Chuck E. Cheese's
Pizza Time Theater.
Sounds fancy, right?
It was created by Nolan Bushnell.
Really?
And yeah, that's the same guywho co founded Atari and gave us
Pong.
Yeah.
The goal was to combine pizza, arcade games and live entertainment.
An animatronic mouse. And herewe are nearly 50 years later, still

(01:08):
talking about the place. Infact, according to ABC news.go.com
there's going to be a newChuck E. Cheese for adults.
Wow.
It's called Chuck's Arcade.They say it's a new destination where
nostalgia meets the future.
No way.
They're going to have classicretro games like Ms. Pacman and Donkey
Kong.
Oh, fun.
They're going to featuregames, branded apparel, collectible

(01:30):
toys, retro products, noveltycandy and prizes. Chucks can be found
in eight states fromConnecticut to Texas.
Nice.
Chuck E. Cheese is still goingstrong, but the recent headlines,
well, let's just say they'rekind of a mixed bag.
Yeah.
According to AL.com a birthdayparty in Alabama turned into a massive
brawl.
Oh, no.
Even a child said they gotpunched in the eye.

(01:51):
Oh, no.
Over 20 people were in thisbig brawl. And fortunately, none
of the injuries appeared to bemajor and no arrests were made.
Wow.
Sad news over in Hawaii. KHON2 News reports that Pearl City Chuck
E. Cheese is going to closeafter more more than 30 years. Aloha
state daily.com says they'reauctioning off things like a double

(02:14):
decker pizza oven, a cottoncandy machine, commercial chairs,
tables, booths, racks, mobilecountertops, utility carts, kitchen
tools, food storage, TVs andmore. Proceeds from the auction are
going to be reinvested toenhance a different location, focusing
on refreshing and upgradingtheir current offerings like trampoline
and superhero playgrounds. There's a link here to the website

(02:37):
where the auction is takingplace. It's called ctbids.com. there's
some cool cheap stuff here. There's something called a launch
code arcade game. The current bid?
Yeah.
$26.
Nice.
With two days and three hoursleft in the bidding, this is going
pretty well. The cotton candymachine is going for $205 at this
time and Zombieland Battlearcade game is only 72 bucks.

(02:58):
Nice.

(03:50):
Heck, there's an industrialrefrigerator with a cutting board
that's only going for $12. Soif you can get there and pick this
stuff up, you should check itout. According to news.comau they
report the Chuck E. Cheese isalso heading down under the very
first Australian locationopens in September. This place is
going to have more than 100games, an adventure zone, and a VIP

(04:12):
party room. Chuck E. Cheese isnot a sponsor, but if they were,
their ad would go right here.According to Animation magazine and
a release from Chuck E.Cheese, our favorite pizza slinging
mouse is going to be starringin his very first animated Christma
special slated for thisholiday season. The animation is
being done by Pixel Zoo inAustralia and Chuck E. Is voiced

(04:36):
by Nathan Kress from iCarly.
Wow.
This next article is a realdoozy. It's coming from multiple
sources, including AP News and Delish.
Oh boy.
And of course, this story iscoming to us from none other than
Florida.
Oh boy.
On July 23rd in Tallahassee,Florida, a Chuck E. Cheese employee
was arrested mid shift whilefully suited as the mascot.

(04:57):
Oh no.
An investigation started whena woman noticed fraudulent charges
like a smoke shop, waterburger, and a grocery store. All
the charges were traced to acard that she thought that she lost
during her kid's birthdayparty. After looking at some surveillance
footage, she recognized theemployee and tracked him down.
Oh boy.
When the police first arrived,he wasn't in costume yet, but he

(05:19):
reappeared as Chucky. Beforetheir second entry. One officer recounted.
Chucky, come with me, Chucky. And grabbed his arm mid performance.
Parents had to tell their kidsthat the mascot was going to jail.
Of course, the moment wascaught on camera featuring the mascot
head on top of a police carand families looking on in stunned
silence.
Oh no.
He was booked into jailwearing the entire full mouse ensemble.

(05:43):
Oh.
SSGate reports thatfirefighters in California rescued
a woman who got herself stuckinside an arcade game.
Oh no.
There's footage of the womankneeling inside a snow day game booth
as firefighters work to free her.
Oh boy.
The game itself involvesstanding inside a clear enclosure
and balls kind of fall downand you have to throw them inside

(06:03):
of this hole to win tickets. In the video, her arm appeared to
be caught inside the booth.
Oh.
Firefighters were able tosafely remove the woman from the
game, but it took them 20 minutes.
Holy cow.
That lady wasn't the only onethat got stuck this week. It's time
for my favorite segment thisweek in cheese. According to Vice.com,
there was a young black bearfound roaming the north woods of

(06:24):
Wisconsin, and it had a jarstuck on its head. This bear was
clunking her way across nearly50 miles of forest, they say, with
her head trapped in whatlooked like an oversized cheeseball
container.
Oh, no.
The medical coordinator inAshland, Wisconsin, typically handles
lost dogs and cats, But aneighbor gave her the heads up that

(06:45):
a bear was heading toward her backyard.
Oh, boy.
She was surviving, though. Andthey. They said. You're wondering
how a bear wasn't dehydrated.Well, she managed to drink by dunking
her whole head with a bucketincluded into streams and slurping
it up like a horse munchingfrom a feeder bag.
Oh, no.
They tracked the bear down ina yard. They used a tranquilizer
dart to subdue her, and theycarefully removed the j. Thankfully,

(07:09):
the bear was not hurt, and shewas released back into the woods.
I'm ready for a joke fondue.
Okay. Why was cheddar turneddown by the Chuck E. Cheese band?
I have no idea.
Because it kept playing sharp.
Oh, get it. It was silly.
Heck, yeah, it was silly and alittle bit cheesy. Thanks for listening
to our summer series, Cheese Bites.

(07:31):
Thank you.
We wouldn't be here withoutlisteners like you, but as always,
we're looking to grow ouraudience. If you have a chance this
week, please let someone elseknow that you love our podcast and
ask them to subscribe.
And stay cheesy, everybody.
