Hey everyone.
Welcome to Investor EvolutionElevate.
I'm Kimberly Hoyt.
I am so excited to have you withme today because today we are
talking about the murky middleand it's also episode 50.
So I think this is a very timelyepisode and a timely message.
(01:12):
It's not where I'm ending.
It's, but it's not where I wannabe yet.
And my next goal is a hundredepisodes.
So this is a perfect place tostart.
So many of you know me.
I am a PA physician assistant.
I'm a real estate investor, anentrepreneur, and most
importantly, a mama and a wifewho's been through a few murky
(01:35):
middles myself.
So today's episode is for anyonewho feels like they're in that
in-between season.
You're not alone, and there ispurpose in this process.
All right, let's dive in.
The reason why this episode cameto be is because last week I was
(01:56):
at a Real Estate InvestorsSummit.
You can call it.
It was Squad Up Summit for thePace Morby world, and I felt
myself in this murky middle.
I definitely am not where I wasa year ago.
But I'm not where I want to beor where I'm going, and I'm in
(02:18):
this space, this murky middle.
And so it really made me thinkabout this and start thinking
about the lessons that I'mlearning now in the murky middle
that will help me get to where Ineed to be.
(02:38):
First of all, let's start withthe first truth about this murky
middle.
It requires grit.
Perseverance isn't always loud.
It's not always this big, boldact of courage.
Sometimes it's this quietdecision to just get up one more
(02:59):
time and keep trying.
Sometimes it is just keep goingeven when you feel like your
wheels are spinning, you haven'tquite hit that traction yet, and
you're just in it.
Maybe you're showing up in yourbusiness and wondering.
(03:19):
When is it ever gonna click?
I don't know about you, but thisis huge for me right now.
We have been working and doingdifferent things and I feel like
we have been setting up allthese different dominoes and
we're just waiting for that onelittle action to help them all
(03:41):
fall.
It hasn't happened yet.
So we're in that murky middle ofstill just setting up these
dominoes, just waiting, planning, trying to make it
work, trying to create thebusiness that we're looking to
create.
Maybe you're raising your kids, building a career, juggling it
all and asking, is this evenreally working?
(04:05):
I've been there, and again, likeI said, in these moments, I have
to remind myself.
Progress doesn't always looklike movement.
Sometimes it looks like staying.
Staying in the process, stayingin the work, staying in
alignment with the vision, evenwhen there's no evidence yet,
(04:28):
and that is difficult.
That requires grit.
It requires commitment.
It requires consistency, perseverance, and showing up.
I want you to remember, and itsounds totally obvious, but the
middle is not the end, but howmany of us give up in the
(04:52):
middle.
How many of us feel like thisisn't working?
This isn't right, man, I shouldbe getting more traction now
because I've been working atthis.
Why isn't it working for me?
The only way we get to the endis if we keep going.
(05:12):
So the middle is not the end.
This murky water that we're allswimming through.
The only way we get to thatbeach that we've been longing
for is if we keep going.
And here's the thing, number twoI wanna talk about is growth
through challenge.
In the middle space, it isn'tjust a test of endurance, of
(05:36):
perseverance, but it is ateacher.
What lessons are you learning inthis time?
Because you need them for whereyou're going.
And what happens if we give upnow you're gonna start something
new and the lessons that youneeded to learn in this season
will show up in the nextendeavor that you start, in that
(05:59):
murky middle because you have tolearn those lessons in order to
move forward.
You need those.
Think of it like, I always thinkabout Nintendo and Mario
Brothers back in the day like.
Back in the day when you had toplay so much to really develop
(06:22):
the skills in order to beat thehigher levels.
And if you just warped to WorldEight, when you hadn't really
been practicing and building upthe skills, you couldn't beat it
right away.
But once you had been goingthrough and you've played hours
and hours as we did.
(06:42):
Then you can warp to WorldEight.
You can beat Bowser and move on.
And it was easy because you putin the work.
And I want you to think aboutthis murky middle and take
yourself out of it and just lookat it.
What is it there to teach you?
What are you needing to learn inthis moment?
(07:06):
We love clarity and we loveanswers, but the middle strips
that away and says, who are youwithout the outcome?
This is that space whereidentity starts to shift, where
old mindsets are challenged andcan be really difficult to
overcome, but the new ones startto emerge.
(07:27):
That version of you on the otherside, who is she?
She's wiser.
More grounded.
More resilient, more capable ofdealing with this set of issues
because she's done it before.
I've learned more in theuncertain spaces than I ever did
in the highlight reel moment.
Right?
(07:48):
We all know that.
But when we're in the thick ofit, when we're in the middle,
it's really hard to remember I'mgoing through this season for a
purpose because I need to learn,I need to grow, I need to
develop.
That's where the real internaltransformation truly happens.
(08:11):
As I've been thinking about thismurky middle and why, why do we
get stuck in here?
What is the purpose of it?
Obviously, we've talked aboutperseverance and we've talked
about learning and growingthrough that season.
The other thing that I think ishuge, and probably the thing
(08:31):
that I love the most about beingin that murky middle is
community and support.
You know what makes all thedifference in the world not
having to walk through thismurky middle alone.
I used to think I had to figureit all out by myself.
That strength meant independenceand showing that I can do it and
(08:54):
I can persevere by myself.
But what I've learned and whatI've come to really realize is
real strength isinterdependence, is building a
community of people who are inthe same journey with you.
You may be running in tandemwith them.
So for me, networking with othercapital raisers is huge because
(09:16):
we get to learn from each other.
What's worked for you?
Oh, I, this is what I tried.
Well, I tried this and thisdidn't work.
Maybe you wanna avoid that.
Those type of conversations whenyou can help each other, even
though you're on separate pathsin different lanes, but moving
in the same direction.
You can help each other, oh,watch out.
(09:37):
There's a pothole ahead.
Oh, be careful of that turn Youwant to go slow.
Those relationships, thoseconversations, that
connectedness helps keep yougoing and they get to help you
and you get to help them, andthat is a beautiful thing when
(09:57):
you're no longer competing withsomeone who's doing the same
thing, but you're working withthem, helping each other and
building relationship with them.
It really is about having peoplewho can see when you can't see
yourself.
Maybe they have, there are a fewclicks ahead of you and they can
(10:21):
give you some guidance, maybe asubtle warning, or give you some
information that you didn't haveotherwise to help move you
forward.
It's that accountability partnerwho reminds you of your why.
It's that group text, thatmastermind the biz besties that
(10:42):
you have the mentor who remindsyou, you have come way too far
to stop here.
It gives you motivation, itkeeps you moving forward.
That community.
I would not be where I am todaywithout the people around me.
It's foolish to think that wecan do this on our own.
(11:05):
The only way we move forward iswith others, with help from
others, with others investingwith us, with working with
others.
That is the way we move forwardand we can't do this by
ourselves at all! And why wouldwe want to?
If you don't have that kind ofsupport right now, this is your
(11:28):
invitation to start building it.
You are not meant to go throughthis murky middle alone.
I am here for you.
I would love to hear from you.
Reach out, let me know what itis that you're dealing with.
I may not have all the answers, but I know a lot of people, and
I bet you we can figure it outtogether.
(11:49):
That's the other thing, right?
When you have other viewpoints, other perspectives, it helps you
move faster because you have amore diverse range of options
and opinions and they may seesomething that you don't and
you're like, ah, that is themissing link.
(12:10):
That's the thing I was lookingfor.
Working together is soimperative, and if you need
help, reach out.
I would love to help you.
As we come to a close, if you'rein that in-between space right
now, that murky middle where theold no longer fits, but the new
(12:30):
isn't quite here yet, I want youto know you're not stuck.
You becoming, you'retransforming.
This murky, middle, asuncomfortable as it is, is truly
sacred ground.
It's shaping a stronger, wiser, more grounded version of you
(12:52):
that you need to become for thatnext level.
So keep going, keep growing, andlean on your people because the
middle isn't the end.
It is just the making of you.
So let's recap the lessons thatI'm seeing in this s murky
middle (13:12):
it's about perseverance,
about grit.
It's about learning through theprocess, and it's really about
creating a community andconnection to move with you to
help you through.
If this episode spoke to you, would you do me a favor?
Send it to a friend who's in thethick of it too.
(13:34):
Share it in your stories.
Remind each other that we arenot alone and we are not done
yet.
All right, friends.
Until next time, have a greatweek.
