What if a simple smile was the key to transforming your mood, your day, and your life? In this episode, Rhonda offers a gentle, empowering invitation to experiment with smiling, not for anyone else, but for yourself. Discover the science, skill, and self-love behind smiling, and why just a little curve can change so much.

What if you practiced smiling, not because someone told you to, but because it actually makes life gentler and brighter from the inside out?

Today, Rhonda shares her own stories of being asked to “smile” while waitressing, and why genuine smiling is never about pleasing others or performing for the world. Instead, it’s an act of self-kindness, a way to shift our body, our chemistry, and even our hearts.

Whether your smiles come easy or feel a bit rusty, you’ll hear how to practice finding small reasons to smile, experiment safely (even in your own bathroom mirror), and use a simple smile as a tool for emotional regulation and resilience. This episode is an invitation to give yourself permission, to be seen, to be joyful, and to let your smile lead your emotional freedom.

than there are to smile?
And do you know that smilingin and of itself, just smiling, actually

(00:38):
changes your body chemistry?

And I'm like, I'm just gettingmy drinks together.
I'm not smiling at my drinks, right?
Like, I'm just getting mydrinks together.
There's nothing wrong with me.
And who likes to be told tosmile from a customer anyway, right?
And you know, it was alwaysthe opposite sex, a guy.

(01:46):
So it's very controlling.

(02:07):

It's one of the way weregulate our emotions when we make
a choice of how to show upregardless of all those feelings
that are moving through us.
Because feelings are feelings.
They just flow like a river, right?
We can't change our feelings, make our feelings go away, et cetera,

(02:29):
but we can change ourbehavior, which, by the way, changes
our feelings.
So today I just invite you tothink about smiling.
How often do you do it?
How often don't you do it?
What do you do when you getangry at somebody?
What do you do when you'retrying to flirt?
What are you doing as you'remaking your way through the day?
Do you meet a stranger's eyesand smile?

(02:51):
Do you get on an elevator and smile?
Or do you get on the elevator, like, don't talk to me.
How do you operate in this world?
And where is your smile andwho gets it?
Who gets to see that beautifulsmile of yours?
So if this is uncomfortablefor you, I invite you just to go
into the restroom, the comfortof your bathroom, and look in the

(03:14):
mirror and practice smilingand saying nice things to yourself
about your smile.
I'm not asking you to, youknow, navigate.
You know, point out everythingwith your teeth or your lips.
No, that's not what it's about.
It's about smiling.

(03:36):
Smiling is so powerful.
It's so powerful.
And you are in charge of your mood.
You are in charge of your mindset.
You're in charge of your attitude.
When you choose to smile andthink about how you smile, do you
smile all teeth, no teeth?

(03:57):
I do it all.
I smile big.
I smile small.
Closed lips, open lips, showing my teeth, opening my mouth.
So you.
You know, it's like my teetharen't together sometimes.
Teeth together.
So I smile.
I do it all.
And where.
Where's your comfort levelwith your smile?
So today I invite you to thinkabout smiling and doing a lot more

(04:22):
of it.
And you know what you're goingto have to do to do that?
Find out all the reasons inyour life why smiling is the perfect
response.
