Who is the real you?

SPEAKER_00 (00:05):
What if I told you that there's more to it?
That there are benefits andresources from heaven that are
available to help you in thislife, and you've never heard
about them.
Are you curious?
Well, join Gordon Merrill as hedigs deeper into making heaven
real in this life.

SPEAKER_01 (00:30):
Welcome back to Making Heaven Real.
We started the episode withasking you who is the real you?
Can you give me three thingsthat are neat unique to you to
the real you?
Some of those things may bethings that people may not even
know about you.

(00:53):
Why is that?
Remember the story about the twowolves?
You are a divine spirit sent byGod to have a human experience.
So that means by default, onewolf is your spirit.

(01:13):
The other wolf is your humanside.
The human wolf is your physicalpart that is here for the human
experience.
Your human side is made up ofyour thoughts, emotions, and
actions, the things that you dowith your human body.

(01:39):
But the divine part, the spiritpart is the real you.
That's the authentic you.
We're going to explore that moreduring this episode.
But that is your spirit.
That is the you that is unique.
But is also a unique expressionof spirit from heaven.

(02:05):
That spirit's been sent here tolearn and grow and mature from
your human experience, whichincludes those thoughts,
emotions, and actions we justtalked about.
But your spirit as sent fromheaven is whole, it's complete,

(02:30):
and it's perfect.
Because it's from heaven.
Divine, perfect, you say?
Well, in a previous episode wealready talked about that at
pretty good length.
And discussed the passage inscripture in Ecclesiastes where

(02:52):
it says, When the body dies, thebody returns to the dust of the
ground that it came from, andthe spirit returns to God who
sent it.
So what makes up our spiritportion of our person?

(03:19):
Dr.
Richard Ward has recently kindof changed the way psychology
looks at handling certainsituations with people, and he's
come up with the internal,internal family system.
From that, from years ofresearch on his part, he's come

(03:42):
up with what he calls the eightC's of our spirit side.
Out of all of this, he has alsocome up with and said that there
is a part of us that is ourauthentic self, our actual

(04:04):
spirit self.
And as he put it, that spirit isconnected to something greater.
Sounds like what we've beentalking about for weeks.
He says these eightcharacteristics are our self,

(04:27):
spirit, divine energy.
Dr.
Ward was an atheist.
After doing this study,obviously he believes a little
differently.

(04:50):
But according to him, our spiritside of things encompass these
eight C's.
I'm going to mention them slowlyand give you time to just think
about them for a few secondsbefore we move on to the next
one.
And think about how this appliesto the real you.

(05:13):
These eight C's are calm,curiosity, compassion, clarity,
confidence, courage, creativityand connectedness?

(05:48):
If you were to stop and thinkabout what a loving spirit from
heaven would encompass, do thoseeight Cs kind of explain that?

(06:12):
You know, when you go back andlook at it throughout the Bible
and the scriptures from evenancient scriptures, there's a
lot of places where God says theone and only command from Him
for us is to love one another.

(06:50):
Does that not define love?
So if heaven sends a spirit intoa human body to have a human
experience, and the spirit,according to Dr.
Richard Ward, encompasses theseeight Cs that pretty much define

(07:14):
love, then it's easy tounderstand why Scripture
commands each of us to love.
It's having us incorporate theseeight C's into our life and into

(07:38):
the world around us.
Now the part that's kind ofinteresting about that is in
Matthew the command goes alittle further and says, love
your neighbor as yourself Thequestion is do you love

(07:59):
yourself?
And if not, why not?
If God in heaven love you with acomplete, total, unconditional
love why can't you?

(08:29):
Now, last week we talked alittle bit about people's
concerns with what's going on inthe in the world around us and
what's going on in the country,and how can we even attempt to
make a difference?

(08:50):
And we talked about severalprinciples and several things
that we could look at on doingthat, but if you're looking at a
world with all of its problems,your eight C's that make up your
unique self, which also equalsunconditional love, if you go

(09:22):
through the day presenting andexuding that love, you're
already making a difference.
If we love ourselves as Godloves us, that makes it easier

(09:44):
for us to love our neighbor asourselves.
But by loving ourselves, we'rebeing true to our unique self
and your whole complete perfectspirit, then you use that love

(10:05):
to love your neighbor.
You know, just like we talkedlast week with Saint Francis of
Assisi.
Use that love, use those eightC's to start doing what is
necessary right here, right now.

(10:27):
Then start by doing what ispossible, and then using that
love to fuel you moving forward,you're suddenly able to do the
impossible, just like wediscussed.

(10:49):
Now, this particular week is youknow Palm Sunday and moving into
Easter, and I've heard itcompared that people going
through grief and then loss of aloved one and an extreme loss

(11:10):
are people who are kind ofpassing through a crucifixion
experience of their own.
In the way it is the death ofsomething.
May not be yours, but once thathappens, you find yourself in a

(11:33):
very dark place for a period oftime.
A place where you feel likeyou're really struggling to have
people who will acknowledge you.
Back to our grief toolkit here,who will even acknowledge you,

(11:57):
be there for you, listen to you.
But most of us have alreadyfound out that there is a form
of a resurrection past that lossand that form of a crucifixion

(12:22):
where life starts again, thingsmove on again, but that makes it
so much easier and so muchbetter if we are allowing our
spirit team to love us, to holdus, to guide us, and to help us

(12:49):
move forward.
You know, Easter is aboutresilience and renewal and the
celebration of Jesus'resurrection.
But it also points back to usthat there's much more going on

(13:11):
here than just the humanexperience.
I read it somewhere and I can'tfind it to quote it, but it
basically says that there areeach of us here is in a
never-ending journey of life.

(13:32):
Think about that wording for aminute.
Didn't say it ended at the endof this life.
A never-ending journey of life.
Kind of goes back to ourdiscussion about the college.

(13:53):
You're working on a degreeprogram.
You have a never-ending,seemingly, list of classes to
take to complete that degree.
So you, as this spirit fromheaven, full of love,
encompanying three C's, or I'msorry, eight Cs, are here

(14:17):
experiencing this life as a partof your never-ending journey of
life.
During this Easter season, don'tforget, as we've discussed, that
you're here to integrate yourspirit and your human experience

(14:44):
so that your spirit can learn,grow, and mature while also
working towards completing yourdegree.
If we tap into our spirit's trueself and all of its heavenly
resources, that allows you tofocus on everything in light of

(15:11):
those eight C's.
Your genuine love for your truespiritual self.
And then you can spread thatlove to others around you.
And in that way, both you andthose around you are benefiting

(15:34):
by you making heaven real intheir world.
