This week on Synthpop Symphony 297 — we’re diving deep into the heart of synth-driven sound with a lineup that spans decades and dimensions.

We’ll start with Andy Bell of Erasure and his stunning new remake of “Xanadu” — originally by Olivia Newton-John and ELO — followed by his collaboration with Claudia Brücken of Propaganda on “Love Oneself” from the Electric Blue LP.

Then we turn back the clock with Boxcar’s classic “Freemason (You Broke the Promise)” from 1990 before jumping into a massive Mini-Mix featuring A-ha’s “I’ve Been Losing You,” the brand-new Nine Inch Nails remix from Tron: Ares, an electrifying “Blue Monday” remake by DeSoffer, and the timeless Pet Shop Boys anthem “Always On My Mind.”

The new music keeps coming — with Lights of Euphoria and their incredible track “Machines of Light,” Epriin with “Boy Before,” and a retro flashback from Michael Cretu on “Samurai” in the DJ Plastikk Retro Disco Remix.

We’ll also revisit Echo Image and their 2021 standout “Walk My Mind,” plus Steven Kimber — also known as Vanello — with “I Wanna Be the One” (Project Radio Mix), and wrap the hour with a newly extended remix of *Madonna’s “rare track Gambler.”

All that and more — in one power-packed episode blending 80s legends, modern innovators, and future classics.

And in hour two — it’s Sinister Nights: In the Mix, a full hour of deep, dark, and beautifully cinematic synth and disco energy.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
