What do you do with a passage that seems to describe someone who knew Jesus and then lost their faith? Hebrews 6 has carried that weight for centuries, and the question deserves a careful answer.
On this episode of Beyond the Notes, the teaching works through Hebrews 6:1-9 in parallel with 2 Peter 2 and Matthew 12. The episode examines each descriptor the author uses for the person in view and makes the case that all three passages describe a similar pattern: people in close proximity to the gospel who never came to saving faith in Christ.
Listeners come away with a clearer understanding of what Hebrews 6 is actually teaching and the assurance that if you are in Christ by grace alone through faith alone, you are an adopted child of God. This episode is for anyone who has wrestled with this passage, grieved over someone who walked away from the faith, or simply wanted to understand what the Bible says.
