(00:10):
What does the nanny do?
OK, so we're done.
Goodbye.
You.
Shut it off.
Do not twist my words.
Do not.
Make me a victim, sweetie.
Just look at the mountain.
That's what you saw that day.
Just the knife in the kidneys
over all these years and the
sacrifices that I made to love
you.
(00:48):
Welcome back ladies and
gentlemen, boys and girls, to
Part 2 of Season 6, Episode 10
of Sister Wives, Polygamist
Marriage Therapy.
For those of you fortunate
enough to join us for Part 1,
you know everything that
happened in this episode.
You have been riveted by every
moment, including Pat's black
hair, our missing of Mona.
(01:10):
Ants crawling up thighs.
Meditation circles.
And Janelle wearing a red
blouse.
Unfortunately, Kody being
correct, yeah, that's.
Yeah, us not hating on Kody for a time or two, and that might
even continue in this part too.
So brace yourself, take some Imodium, you know, take that
(01:31):
Dramamine, whatever you got to do.
Car over Do not drive during this episode.
Do not drive a vehicle during this episode.
Please. It's like the medication bottle
with the winking eye. That's like, do not operate
heavy machinery while listening to this podcast because we are
going to give Kody some credit. I'm sorry everyone, don't turn
it off. Please stay with us.
I know. Just stay with us.
Stay with us. We're going to hit them by the
(01:52):
end anyway. That's how it goes.
We are gathered here today at the retreat to continue our
therapy in this journey. We're gathered in the morning.
All except 1. Robyn.
Robyn is missing and Kody gives us the news that Robyn isn't
feeling well. She's feeling nauseous this
(02:15):
morning. Yeah, she is not coming.
So she's going to stay in bed today and I was so disappointed.
I was so disappointed, I really
believed it too.
I thought for sure Robyn isn't
feeling well and it couldn't be that she doesn't trust the
therapist and that she's
actually going to have to self
analyze or someone else might
give her some sort of feedback
or something to reflect on.
It couldn't be that she's
(02:37):
pretending it's April Fool's Day
and that she's pregante.
Oh, do you think she.
Might be pretending to be having
morning sickness.
Why would Kody use the word
nauseous?
It's an odd word to use on just
a regular morning waking up if
you haven't been drinking or if
(02:59):
you aren't pregante.
Yeah, well.
I don't know.
Maybe she's trying to start
rumors in her own family that
she is knocked up.
It would.
She's manipulative.
This is it.
It would actually fall in line
with who she is so.
It really would.
Listen, I'm going to put a lot
of weight into your conspiracy
theory and I'm going to believe it.
She's planting the seed that
she's preggers here in the
middle of Season 6.
And you heard it here first,
(03:20):
this breaking news from 10 years
ago or whatever.
Tinfoil hat on baby.
I have a double lined tinfoil
hat on, but it's probably not
that far off.
Yeah, and that tin hat's for
everyone's safety.
Yeah, it really is.
Nancy tells us that her plan for
that day was for all five of
them.
Of course.
Hello, I was planning on your
entire family being here for
this marriage retreat, so I
(03:44):
guess we'll have to take a shift
in the activities planned.
She gives a little heads up that
your shoes are going to need
to be able to get wet.
Interesting.
All right.
OK.
Yes, it's true.
Oh my God, We get to some sort
of valley between these red
rocks and we meet with somebody
(04:07):
named Joseph Whitewolf, and he
is a spiritual teacher.
We find out on his lower third.
And a truly amazing man, according to the male meditation
host, I can't remember his name, Ed Ed says that Joseph
White Wolf is a truly amazing
man, and at this point, we'll
(04:28):
just have to take his word for
it.
We'll see if it's true or not.
We find out so soon that it's
true.
Oh yes, it took because no time.
As we are walking through this
valley, we see a grasshopper and
it jumps and Joseph steps next
to it and he says, you see this
(04:48):
grasshopper?
He steps by it again and it
jumps.
He says when they jump, look,
they turn around, they face you.
What they are teaching us is to face our fears.
That's a truly beautiful gift. Let's continue.
Let's continue. I love it, He.
(05:09):
Takes I love this guy. I know I love it.
He takes this pause. Let's continue.
And I literally laughed out loudbecause everyone's probably just
going OK. Like they are all looking
around. Here we are, darting eyes and
following the Joseph White Wolf, who is, I guess, to quote Kody,
a hippie. He's got his hippie dippie look
(05:29):
and his weird hat and his weirdeyebrows and his weird face.
See, I, you know, I tear them apart for saying weird.
And then I realized how many times I say weird.
So I should start saying word because that's a little bit
more, it's a little bit more on brand for my Sister Wives
podcast. I like this guy.
You know what I get? I get good vibes from this guy.
I totally do.
You feel it.
I wouldn't go to toe to toe with
(05:52):
a grasshopper just to learn a
lesson personally, but I am
loving this guy.
We get a quote from Kody.
And it starts out, I, I have to say it starts out, listen, man,
which I love.
I love it because this is what's
so good about Kody when he's on and he's, you know, we're
(06:13):
supposed to hate him and we're
supposed to whatever.
He takes on the vibes of the
vibes he's getting.
This is so it.
He's such a performer that he's
like, listen man, you know, I'm in one of the most out there
religions you can imagine.
So if people seem like hippies
to me, I'm tolerant of that.
I'm from a weird religion.
It's like, OK, Kody Bow.
He says if they're really
(06:37):
earthy.
Oh.
He calls hippies really earthy.
Yeah, I mean. You know, Billy Bob Thornton, I
mean, Joseph White Wolf is veryearthy.
He gets inspiration from the grasshopper jumping.
It's like the Willow tree from Pocahontas.
See, we're so full of Disney references today, it's
disgusting. It is I I like this guy.
I'm here for it. And at this moment, in front of
(07:02):
the Willow tree, Pat tells us that she is leaving.
Her time with the Browns is done.
But she also lets us know that her time with the Browns was a
delicious experience. And she says the word delicious.
I don't know too many therapists
that would use the word
delicious to describe their time
(07:23):
with clients, patients.
Excuse me, I just.
I don't use delicious much
except for when I'm describing
my own body parts.
A red apple.
I use it when I'm describing a
red apple.
When I'm trying to convince
somebody to take a bite of a
delicious red poisoned apple.
We are back in a Disney movie.
(07:44):
We've got to end this now.
We've got to end this now.
We're going to get our episode's
going to get pulled off of
YouTube.
Too many Disney references.
Oh no, can't do that OOP.
OOP and I just got this amazing
visual stimulation of a Disney
movie from this delicious
(08:09):
experience.
Oh God.
While I was recovering from the delicious experience, my eyes
opened and I saw Pat with her
teal earrings and her teal
necklace or top.
There was a lot of teal and I
thought Pat is a hippie herself and how appropriate for Sedona.
(08:31):
See, she might look a little bit
like Annie's grandma or the
the Orphan Annie Orphanage womanor
Lyle Lovett or whoever.
But she was wearing that
turquoise jewelry and she was
rocking it as any lesbian
looking Sedona dweller would.
And she's going to leave us with
some parting advice.
Well, not us, Nancy.
Yeah, Nancy.
(08:52):
Nancy is going to get this
parting advice and it's to be
open.
And to listen, to be open and to
listen, I thought, you know,
that's some great advice from
one therapist to another.
Right.
You are these people, Mona.
Save us from these people.
Please Mona, this turquoise lady
is an imposter.
(09:17):
She totally is.
Your spiritual crystal nipple
tassels over this fake imposter with her turquoise earrings.
At this point, Mona definitely
has more experience with the
polygamist family in solving
their problems than Pat.
Oh my gosh, she.
Does. 100 for real.
Pat, if you're listening, you're
a fraud and we're calling you
out.
Allegedly.
Thank you for putting allegedly.
(09:38):
I was going to say legal is going to RIP me a new one.
Meri says that it felt like a final goodbye with her leaving.
It just felt like such a goodbye
moment.
Yeah, they're closing a chapter
in their history.
We don't get any more special
moments with Joseph White Wolf.
This is it. We're introduced to him and as
(10:00):
quickly as he came into our life, he disappears.
I like this guy. I liked him a lot.
Why couldn't we have more of him?
I did. It's like that guy from Nauvoo.
We got a lot of him.
Yeah, Joseph, Another Joseph.
What's with these?
Joseph's tour, Remember Joseph's
Nauvoo tours?
Yeah, and now we've got Joseph
Whitewolf who talks about a
grasshopper for two seconds and then leaves and I'm going why
(10:24):
are we wearing the shoes that
need to get wet?
I'm just.
Mind bending moment.
They're in a Creek bed.
Oh, they're OK.
They're in a valley with a Creek
bed nearby, and apparently
something's happening there that
we don't get to hear about.
Yeah, it's moist.
Yeah.
Damp where they're going, damp
and dark.
Damp and.
Dark, just like the side of the
(10:44):
necklace of Christine that she
is not friends with.
Oh, that Christine.
Poor Christine.
Nancy asks if everyone would be comfortable doing individual
sessions.
So we start the next segment
with these individual sessions
and we're going to go to meet
with Janelle first.
Nancy's asking Janelle tough
(11:08):
questions, and one of the first questions she asks is how she's
fitting into the family.
And Janelle says I'm not going
anywhere.
But I also don't feel like I fit
in anymore.
I don't know where I fit in.
Nancy asks if she's honest with everyone in the family, and
Janelle says that she is honest with Kody and Christine, but
(11:31):
not with Robyn and Meri.
Yeah, she says it's taken her
years to get used to Meri's
personality, which I thought was
an interesting way to phrase
that, to get used to her
personality.
You know something?
She's still getting used.
To still working on it she.
Says she also referenced how her
personality has changed.
(11:51):
And I think that when I hear her
saying that, I think it's a
reference to how since moving
out of Lehigh and they've had
this separation and they've
gotten even more independent
from each other.
That's always aligned with her
knack like who she is.
And so to have this kind of OK
for two years, she probably has experienced, I don't want to
say more change than everyone else,
but she's probably slid
(12:13):
into it more comfortably than everyone
else as far as the
daily and her nest, her vibes.
She's probably grown a lot and
realized that she has her own
voice.
She doesn't have to be wife #2.
And she uses that voice later inthis episode, which I love.
So she is definitely finding more of her voice.
I love that. Then we're going to go to Meri's
(12:37):
session with Nancy. And Nancy asks Meri, what's
going to be the hardest part foryou in all of this?
When we get a cop out answer as per usual for Meri, Meri says
the hardest part is to trust that everyone wants to work on
their relationships. Listen, Meri's got trust issues,
(12:58):
so the hardest part of things for Meri is going to be everyone
else's faults and that she can't trust them.
Right. It's a cheap cop out answer, but
we're used to that. As we navigate through these
individual sessions, it's weird because this scene, when they
teed it up, I thought, well, we're going to have some real
(13:20):
intense moments with everyone and it quickly just speeds up
into just cuts of everyone talking.
So that's a bit disappointing. Well, you know, par for the
course with this show. It goes back and forth, kind of.
She asks a question and then
they give us a couple of wives
and then she'll ask another
question.
They might go back to another
wife and then another one.
So we are going to cut between
each of these individual
sessions maybe more than once,
(13:42):
just so you know.
And our next sound bite comes
from Kody.
Kody says each one of my wives
wants to work out a relationship
with me and I want to do the
same with them.
I'm not sure they want to work
on a relationship with each
other.
Yes, which is opening up this
theme that we're going to have
for the rest of the episode and is a theme for the show as well
(14:06):
as we move forward is that he's starting to emphasize now y'all
are what we talked about it
earlier, how he's in the middle
and the navigation and he can't manage everything.
He's really going to start
making this push of them having
relationships with each other.
I mean, it makes sense on paper.
Yep.
Once again, where are we going
to fault Kody on this?
Because it makes sense.
(14:28):
And I just want to go Ding,
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding instead
of don't, don't, don't Ding,
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.
Kody, you hit the nail on the
head.
Finally, fucking finally,
finally, finally.
But you're saying it in front of
Nancy, not in front of your
wives right now.
Oh, yeah.
This is the individual session.
Honey. Honey.
Honey, and I'm sure I didn't do it justice in the way that he
(14:51):
said it. It was probably annoying and you
probably wanted to throw some sort of food at the TV, but he's
not wrong. No, he's not.
All right, brace yourselves. Brace yourselves.
It's not going to be the last time that we're going to Ding,
Ding, Ding, Ding him. Oh, I thought you were saying
brace yourselves because the next loser we hear from is
(15:11):
Robyn. Well, that too, yeah.
Next we hear from Robyn. Don, Don, Don.
When Robyn, she chose plural marriage for a reason, she chose
it for a reason. Even though they have become
closer at the cul-de-sac, we canall choose to do our own thing.
Not sure where she was going
with that.
Did did you get anything out of
(15:33):
that?
She mentions something we've
never heard before.
I was in a monogamous
relationship before this one.
Oh God, I.
Chose this for a reason.
Oh no.
I was in a monogamous
relationship before this one.
We could all just be separate,
but I don't want that.
(15:57):
Oh my Lord, my God, Nancy asks
Christine about working on the
mission statement, of course,
because this has been so
fundamental to their therapy At this point.
Is talking about the mission
statement OK?
And Christine volunteers that
she doesn't know if the family's
just afraid to start.
But we really need to put it
(16:19):
down on paper.
And I had a pause here because
I'm going, Christine, what do
you mean you're afraid to start?
I feel as though we have watched
you leading multiple sessions
of brainstorming about the mission
statement, and they
didn't go anywhere.
So how is it that you could feel
that they're afraid to start?
You've already had two failed
starts.
I think that might be what she's
(16:40):
referencing, but she doesn't
know how to say it.
She doesn't know how to say.
They've been meaningless
conversations.
They've been superficial
conversations.
They haven't gone anywhere.
Right, because less than a
minute later, she does clarify
that the family has met multiple
times and they just don't
accomplish anything.
But unfortunately, she starts
with this statement that makes
it sound like they've done
(17:00):
nothing and everyone's afraid.
And I'm going, honey, that's
just not the case.
You're just trying to lead 20
plus people in a conversation
most of them don't want to have.
What I would say is they should have started this by coming up
with AQ and a worksheet for the children and all the children
handed them in and then the
adults got together and the
(17:22):
adults took the common themes
from the children so that the
children felt included.
But the adults implement it
because the adults are in charge
and they need that authority.
Children don't need to be a part
of this.
In a way you want them to feel
included, but you are the person
that they are looking to for
answers.
(17:43):
And when you start asking your
children for answers gets
complicated.
Well, tying, you know, doing a
direct tie to mission statements
in business or in the
workplace, you might send out a survey and
get people's
information. Then leadership comes together,
navigate, figures out how they want to navigate discussions,
pulls out the points they want to basically manipulate their
(18:03):
employees with. So I guess in this family that
would be their children. And then you bring the children
back in to, you know, hammer out details and get their
suggestions and to make it all abeautiful thing that you can put
on your cubicle next to your ways to work with me sign.
What a novel idea. Yeah, what a novel idea.
Yeah, these people, they couldn't.
Oh, these people. Oh, these people.
This same question is posed to everyone in the family.
(18:26):
So we get clips billion of theirsolo situations with Nancy.
Next we're going to go to Janelle.
We all know how Janelle feels about this family mission
statement. Janelle says she loves it.
Sure thinks it's drama. Drama.
I've Pooh poohed this mission statement thing because I think
(18:47):
it's drama. Also, to quote Leon, we're a
family, we're not a business. Yes, we just said this is how
you would run a business. Yeah.
Leon, are you right too in this episode?
What the fuck is are we in Kansas anymore?
Oh God, Dorothy, I don't know. Do I need to click my heels?
(19:08):
Let's hope a house falls on Robyn.
Kody is next to answer this question about the family
mission statement. And Kody says when they were new
in plural marriage, it was tumultuous, and he sees the
mission statement as a way to lead to a plan for a
recommitment of the family. That they all brought their own
(19:30):
baggage to the family when theystarted their family and they
have hurdles to overcome. But their new homes on the
cul-de-sac are almost like a signifier of their recommitment.
And once again, as a therapist,
I'd be going, OK, let me so.
These new homes are fixing your
family again.
Again.
(19:50):
I'd be like, could you draw me a
diagram here?
So when you started your family,
everyone brought their baggage
and you kind of got over it, but
then you didn't, and now you
have new homes on a cul-de-sac.
So this is going to solve your problems and you're doing a
mission statement. Now your baggage is just
separated between bigger homes and a bigger cul.
De SAC Yeah, Oh my God. And the house didn't land on
(20:11):
Robyn and we're all disappointedin his cul-de-sac.
I'm literally speechless about Kody's response in the same
episode where we're giving him all this praise.
He's giving word salad responsesthat are absolutely ridiculous
and I would have liked to have actually seen how Nancy
responded to him. But unfortunately, we get a
quick cut over to Mayor going toMeri, and Meri says she's afraid
(20:33):
to say too much. When Nancy asks why Meri's
afraid to say it too much, she says she gets upset and says
she's afraid to overstep her bounds when it comes to
communicating with the other family members.
Because of their history. She figured out that Janelle was
shoving all that food down thekitchen sink and she said I
can't share my feelings with Janelle because she's not safe.
(20:55):
She's going to plug my wet bar
up.
I can't share my feelings
anymore.
I can't risk my wet bar.
This is the thing with Meri, the
dichotomy between her being
afraid to say too much.
She doesn't want to hurt
people's feelings, She doesn't
want to upset people or overstep
(21:15):
her bounds.
And I'm going, I think every
episode we see you overstepping your bounds and saying things
that upset people.
So I don't know, do you identify
with what you, I shouldn't say
identify?
Pretends though when she says
things she's sarcastic like oh I
didn't know I would be taking up
too much of the budget if I
was taking away from otherwise.
(21:36):
You know she says things sarcastically so she's not
outright saying it. Oh, OK, OK.
Instead of saying I was taking from your budget, you thought I
was taking from your budget. She pretends and says I didn't
know that I'd be stealing from somebody in the.
That is a literal example or yeah, she takes a porch of like
(21:57):
I'm sorry if you felt that way Janelle, that I would take
something that was yours Yes like well, way to put it on her
as opposed to just saying, oh, I if This is why I don't believe
in. Meri, Minnesota.
Nice. She should have been raised in
Minnesota. Meri.
Yeah, she should have been from the Midwest.
I'd say you're welcome here, butI don't know how everyone else
feels. But we know that's a lie.
(22:17):
She's afraid of overstepping herbounds.
What we're going to harken back to here is she was told she was
abusive towards Janelle. She had been told that she had
been abusive to Janelle. Janelle didn't feel like she had
a voice and couldn't speak up in the early years of the
(22:38):
marriage.
So she's too scared to say
anything now, even if it might
be appropriate now.
I want to say just because her
behavior might have been seen as
abusive, even if it was on the
abusive side towards Janelle
before, it doesn't mean that she
doesn't have a right to have
(22:59):
her own opinion now.
OK.
So you can do something wrong in
your past, but if people are
going to forgive you and tell
you that they are going to move
on from it, then they need to be
able to fully move on from it
and take your opinion for what
it is now.
Does that make sense?
It does make sense you.
Can't discredit her now if you
already agreed to move on from
(23:22):
the past.
Well, what I'm curious about is
the moving on from the past.
I don't think they have.
I don't.
Clearly they haven't overall as
a family in many ways, but I
don't think that Janelle has
specifically forgiven her or
that they've even really
discussed anything in a mature
fashion since moving on from
that phase of their early
marriage.
So they still need to address
the past before they can address
(23:44):
the future.
That's why she's feeling
uncomfortable speaking her mind and now, because if they had
already buried the the past,
like they buried Drake, like
they buried Ally, like they
buried the cooler, like they
burned the bag, they would
probably be able to share their
opinions freely.
There's also something about
(24:05):
Meri with I pick up this, oh
God, I pick up this thing about
extremes with her.
You know, it's almost, when it
comes to examples, it's she
can't reference something that's
relatable to the situation.
Her saying that you know, she's
too afraid walking on egg shells
and doesn't know whatever it's
(24:26):
like that seems so extreme
compared to what your actual
behaviors are like.
You might be filtering yourself
and you might not be explaining things correct in a way that
you would like to or that you feel
comfortable with.
But I guess I'm struggling with how to put this into words.
There's something about Meri.
She doesn't have gel up in her
(24:47):
hair, making AC wave out of her bank.
She's got her own unique
hairstyle, as we know.
There's just something about the
way that I feel like she
operates from extremes when
rationalizing or giving examples
or something.
It's hot or cold.
She's this and I'm going, are
you?
And then it goes, and then I'm, well, I guess she is.
But my God, you're also the
complete opposite, so I don't
(25:08):
know.
I wish you would give an
example.
I wish she would say in the past
I did this and it was seen as
too much.
So now I'm scared to do this
because it might be seen as too
much.
But then she'll do something
that's very paralleled or sister
in nature, and it's too much.
(25:29):
And I go.
But Meri, you're too much.
Because she hasn't learned.
Because they've never actually
really addressed it.
They've never brought up a true
example, and they've never
addressed the original example
in quotations.
They've never addressed it.
Right.
Their therapist for five years,
who was the polygamy expert who knew nothing about polygamy,
says that they've moved on and
solved their problems when we
(25:49):
know they haven't at all.
So it's all a shroud of lies.
Honestly, it's frustrating
because for five years you're
telling me you didn't address
any of this?
I don't believe it.
I believe they had to have
discussed some of this and
they're skirting over it for the
show.
Again, I don't know.
(26:11):
Yeah, there's something phony
baloney about it all, but don't
worry, everyone.
As we start day three of our
marriage retreat, we get Robyn
has rejoined us.
Robyn is feeling better, her
morning sickness is over.
She's decided to keep the baby
and we're moving forward moving.
(26:32):
Forward.
Oh, that was terrible, Chris.
Oh, God.
I'm sorry, everybody.
You know, this is a crass
podcast.
Why am I apologizing?
No, no, no, Nancy says that they
are going to use their bodies,
they're going to sculpt with
their own bodies and they are
going to go close to how they
feel to Kody now with where they
are going to stand.
(26:56):
And this is a little odd.
It's not explained very well.
Let me try that one, honey.
Everyone's outside with Nancy on
the morning of day three and
they're going to sculpt where
they are in relationship to each
other physically.
So with their bodies, right,
They're going to take up the
space on this patio in
alignment, closeness, distance,
(27:21):
arrangement with each other
based on how they feel about
their relationships.
They're not going to modge podge
newspaper over each other's
naked bodies, which is what I
was hoping for when I saw this
clip in the preview.
I thought you were talking about
Mckelty's dress, her fashions,
you know, But I was.
Hoping they were going to take
strips of newspaper with Modge
Podge glue and naked sculpt each
(27:42):
other's bodies.
That would have been great.
I would have loved to seen
Janelle's.
So the first part of this
activity, they're going to be
doing their sculpting of their
situations where they currently
are to each other, and Nancy's
guidance is that then they're
going to do where they would
like to be to each other.
What I do like about this
exercise is that it is tactile,
(28:05):
it is visual, it's in the space,
and you really are going to
address how things are now and
how you would like to see them.
These are some things emphasized
that I like, but I've also
never actually had to do this, so I
don't know what it would
be like in person to do.
I'll explain it in a way that
people that have done this
before, OK, It's so in relation
(28:26):
to each other.
How are you feeling?
It reminds me of an exercise
that you would do in an
auditorium, perhaps in theater
class.
Stand on this side if you
believe in this.
Stand on this side of the
theater if you believe in this.
And where in the middle of the
theater do you fall along the
line of you believe in this or
you believe in that?
(28:47):
OK.
And Kody kind of becomes the
middle just out of default I
feel.
Like, he doesn't even move at
all in the entire exercise.
He does not.
I think he just stands in one
place.
Yeah, which is telling in and of
itself.
So they're like planets orbiting
around Kody and where you think you fall in relation to Kody.
Absolutely.
And Meri stands by Robyn and
(29:15):
they kind of are giggling and
they start holding hands.
And Robyn is, of course, right
next to Kody.
So you've got Kody, Robyn, Meri holding Robyn's hand.
Janelle says.
I don't know.
And Janelle goes out and kind of
the side of Kody off a few
(29:38):
feet, and then Christine is like, I
don't know.
And she goes behind Kody's back but turns around and faces away
from him.
So they're back-to-back.
Well, and what I would note
about the way that they're
aligned is, as you said, Meri's on the other side of Robyn from
Kody, obviously very telling as we've watched their
(30:00):
relationship, you know, unfurl
or whatever.
Janelle, I, I would say she's
like arm's length away from Kody
as as you were saying, she's a
bit distant, but she's in the
same place.
She's I'm right in front of you
to the left.
You can see me.
I'm right here.
She's not next to him like maybe
a spouse would be, but she's
right there.
The thing about Christine that
stood out to me the most was
(30:21):
that she seemed uncomfortable
and she kept moving.
She never really stayed in one
place for too long.
She was behind him, she was in
front of him.
She was navigating the entire
scape of what was happening.
She was like an asteroid
floating between the planets,
not knowing where she belonged.
Yeah, she definitely looked likeshe didn't know where to go at
(30:41):
all. And when they started this
exercise, there's a voice over that I thought was very
interesting from Kody referencing Nancy as a crazy
lady and aggressive. And I'm going, I'm not sure how
you get that from being teed upthis exercise because it didn't
seem to me like crazy or aggressive, but OK.
And then we get a voice over from Janelle as well where she
(31:04):
says that they might get honest and it might not be so good.
OK, interesting. Robyn says she almost stood up
and said, I don't know if this is safe right now.
Yeah. Weaponizing therapy speech,
(31:25):
which is what they probably got out of their time with pat of
that five years. All they got was some talking
points, therapy speak to use against each other.
Robyn to say it's not safe. Nothing safe I need.
To get out of this. I don't feel safe right now.
Yeah, all of this is happening while Christine continues to
look unsettled, while she's justnavigating the space of her
(31:46):
sister wives and husband. She keeps moving around from
space to peace, and she goes, I don't know where to go.
And then they go to a couch moment.
And on the couch, Christine saysshe doesn't even want to talk
about this part of the therapy. She didn't like it.
It was the worst part of the trip for her.
(32:06):
And that's not really addressed too in depthly after this, but
it was a stark statement from her.
It was it was very kind of, thisis a moment.
And then we go back to this patio, terror space, whatever.
And Nancy asks, what would be some adjustments you would like
to make this more comfortable in the future, ushering in the
Part 2 of this exercise.
And they all kind of move, and
(32:29):
it's a little slow, but they kind of, you know, start
shuffling into a somewhat semicircle.
And then they all join hands in the middle of the circle as if
they are going to do that thing that you do in sports where it's
like, go, team, go, and you throw your hands up.
But instead they're just, you know, touching hands.
Being a family in a circle, I guess.
(32:49):
Robyn tells us that all the relationships are equal.
But they drag Kody into the middle of their relationships,
which ushers in what Nancy is going to tell us next.
Nancy says we need to deal directly with one person in a
relationship. So a relationship is between two
(33:14):
people directly. Directly not putting someone in
the middle and not managing your relationship through
another person.
When she talked about managing
through another person, IE media, it was like Robyn, Robyn,
Robyn. That's been the theme to this
whole show is that Robyn's the one that can speak Kody, quote,
UN quote, and she's the one navigating Meri and Kody's
(33:35):
choppy waters. She's his mouthpiece.
Yeah, completely inappropriate. Kody talks about how if he's in
the middle, then he becomes their sole focus and they can't
have real relationships with each other.
So a follow up to what we brought up earlier.
Yeah, Christine asks why wouldn't you be in the middle,
and Kody says that he doesn't want to be in the middle.
(33:57):
I'm the sole focus and your connection with each other has
to go through me and that cannotexist.
Here's the thing, we're not truly a family unless upon my
death, you stay a family. God, Kody.
And Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.
I know. And this is just another example
(34:20):
of going, yes, Kody, you're right.
While he is correct, I am watching the TV and he is
standing in an authoritarian stance and all the wives are
around him listening to him declare this statement about how
upon his death you must stay afamily.
And it's weird because it's I agree with him.
(34:44):
I mean, a family, a family does need to survive a death in the
family. And I guess conceptually, if
you're a family, you would survive a death in the family.
But also this is not a stereotypical monogamous family.
And you're standing there
talking at everyone as if
they're just supposed to listen
to your word from high above.
And so that gives me the ick
(35:05):
factor.
I get where you're coming from.
I'm thinking of it from the
point of view from the religion
here, OK, which is that in the
case of a death of a husband,
the family remains and they're
all to meet him in heaven as
they were.
So the family cannot fall apart
(35:30):
just because he is gone, right?
Which we've seen in Kody's dad'srelationships.
I don't know when Kody's dad passes, if he passes during the
show, but they show some of thewives saying their relationships
have changed because all of the children are gone.
So now they're just best friendsliving like The Golden Girls.
(35:51):
That's what I imagine sister wives should be.
If a husband passes is a golden girls vibe.
But that's not the reality. When you get into this religion,
what happens is usually the wife gets passed on to another
husband. Right.
(36:11):
So he's being so idealistic here.
He's separated himself from the core of their fundamentalist
Mormon religion, and I feel theyare so lost right now.
They don't remember why they're polygamists.
Yeah, there is something about that with you're on to something
(36:37):
here because there's the notion of them going into their
eternal Kingdom together.
And yet there is something about
the polygamist culture where if a man dies, it's almost like
a surrogate husband comes in
or is like assigned by the
spiritual leaders.
Because another prophet needs to
come in to speak to the women, because the women cannot speak
(36:57):
for themselves. And I'm wondering where the
where that starts and ends because is it about if they have
children in the home or what is it?
Because at some point that doesn't happen.
Let's say they're old enough, they're in their 60s or 70s.
About to pasture. They're not going to be able to
reproduce and whatever, so we don't care anymore.
But what happens if you're in your 40s and husband dies?
(37:18):
Are you reassigned a husband? Because then who's in the
eternal Kingdom? I mean, it doesn't make any
sense. It is weird and that's where it
gets complicated and that's where they don't even understand
their own religion. We've seen it in Nauvoo, we've
seen it multiple times here. They've started separating from
the church few years ago. They're so discombobulated as a
(37:41):
family. He's trying to tell them now, if
I were to die, you guys are each other's family.
Don't you ever find another husband?
Don't you be happy again withoutanyone but each other.
You are each other's family and I cannot be the common
denominator because if I am not here, where do your
relationships stand with each other?
(38:03):
I'm on his side when I'm thinking of it from his
religion. And this is where I'm like Ding,
Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding. Kody's saying you need to build
up your own relationships. I can't be the go between
between you guys all of the time.
It's not healthy for what we're trying to do here.
What they're trying to do seems to me to be some sort of
(38:28):
offshoot cult that's new and experimental, and now they're
bringing new and experimental therapists into it.
They don't know what the fuck they're doing anymore.
They. Clearly do not know because I
love that that's your take. I shouldn't say I love that
that's your take away as if we differ so much.
But I'm thinking that Kody is expressing his own selfish want
(38:48):
to not be in the middle of shitanymore.
It's just too much. He doesn't want to deal with it.
I feel like that is the coloring
of part of the reason that he's saying this is because when he
hears a therapist saying you
need to have healthy
relationships with each other
and no one can be in the middle,
he agrees with that on some
level because maybe he does want
them to have healthy
relationships with each other.
(39:09):
But also he talks about how he's
the brunt of all the emotions.
He's the one that everybody
comes to and he's got a blah,
blah, blah, blah.
And and maybe not a selfish.
Be easier for.
Him but it be easier like y'all
need to figure your shit out and
you have to have relationships
with each other.
It's funny how I lose track of
the faith quote UN quote the
cult, the lens of this because
(39:30):
it's just so not emphasized.
They've lost track.
Of it they literally have.
Yes, thank you for reminding
them.
Oh, if only you had been there
in person, honey, to remind them
of why they were doing this.
Sometimes I just wish I would
have been able to get into their
heads like Jesus.
More astral projection.
(39:51):
Well, Christine says that this
is not my favorite topic of
conversation, which of course,
like, yeah, your spouse dying is
probably not, but OK.
And this gives Kody an
opportunity to have a long,
long, long thing to say.
Honey, do you do you feel like
you know what Kody was saying
here?
Yeah, I'm a little mixed bag.
(40:13):
But if I wasn't in the picture, would this picture stay?
I can't sit and be the only
common denominator and only the
common denominator.
The relationships for each of
you need to be strengthened as
well.
(40:34):
And then he poses the question, do you have relationships with
each other?
Which I do like that he
challenges them because that's
his point is that you don't.
And rather than just stating it,
which is once again, his
authoritarian stance where I
feel like he's always telling
them how it's supposed to be.
I was talking at them.
At least he's teeing it up with a question.
(40:55):
And even though it might be a
bit combative, is at least
asking a fucking question to
make them think.
And the only thing I would
correct about what you said,
honey, is that he says picture, not picture.
Remember, they're from Utah.
So it's a picture as if it's
they're pouring out water.
It's not a picture with this
picture stay.
It's with this picture stay.
(41:17):
You're correct.
You know, I don't want to tear
anybody apart, but it is a
picture, not a picture, Yes.
Christine admits It's kind of an
as I need it kind of thing.
Yeah, yeah, because I need it
kind of basis pick and choose
when I need my sister wives.
Yeah, she interacts with Janelle
(41:39):
more than with the others
because of their shared
connection with the kids and
their history of, you know,
really Janelle going to work and
Christine primarily caring for
Janelle's children.
I think outside of that and
Christine volunteers that she's not as close with Meri and
Robyn, which we were all
surprised to hear.
No, but at least she's saying
it.
(42:00):
Based on where they stood in the
example of their sculptured
bodies, that visual stimulation really told me all I needed to
know, Meri says.
I'm completely in a different
place than anybody else.
And without a fucking beat,
there is not even a chance to
take a breath.
(42:22):
Kody says.
But that doesn't separate you
from the family if you choose to
be part of the family.
So I was like, oh, OK, So Kody
had this prepared.
Kody has thought about this.
I think he's sick of her.
Shit, he's sick of her shit.
You can choose to have
relationships with each of your sister wives independent of me.
And that's my point.
Once again, a little Ding Ding,
(42:43):
Ding, Ding, Ding for Kody
because God, why do we have to
give Kody any points here?
Meri, you are proving the point
that he's trying to make.
So I'm going to be Meri, but I
do.
Kody responds.
Is it a good relationship?
Do you like it?
In some cases, yes.
What's it?
(43:06):
I don't even know how to
adequately explain these merry
situations and scenarios and
things, she says.
You're standing in front of your
sister, wife saying in some
cases it feels passive
aggressive and weird.
I like some of you, but not all of you.
And yes, I'm willing to declare it.
Yeah, but yet I'm unwilling to
say what I think because I'm
scared.
She's so full of shit.
Walking on egg shells, but I'm
going to exclaim this out loud.
(43:29):
Yeah, I just whatever.
She's so hot and cold.
Oh, but don't worry everyone,
we're going to get some
clarification from our family.
Interpreter.
Yes.
Yes.
She speaks Kody, she speaks
Meri.
She doesn't speak Christine and Janelle so well, but she
definitely speaks Kody and some Meri.
And Robyn says we have our times
when we are completely In
(43:54):
Sync, and those are magical times.
Magical. Time Magical.
Magical darling. Just when I thought she couldn't
get any more dumb, here she isgetting magical.
Well, Kody's going to just do what he does best here and lead
(44:14):
them all to their salvation because he's the prophet of the
family. This is it.
Usher in his authoritarian vibesonce again.
This is why I can never be Team Kody.
Kody wants them all to put theirarms around each other, put
their foreheads together, touch those sweaty, greasy ass
foreheads together and everybodyis connected.
(44:38):
And in this position, everyone is truly connected, he says.
And I'm like, like a basketball team that's rallying before
needing the last point and they're all sweaty and getting
together in a rally. What the fuck is going on here,
Kody? As they migrate together for
(44:59):
this circle slash forehead touching moment, there's a
voiceover from Meri, or if she'son the couch, one of the two.
I don't know. At this point, I'm experiencing
some amnesia and she says our circle is strong, but sometimes
it breaks apart but it comes back together.
We just need to be strong. As she starts getting emotional
(45:21):
and I'm. It's just what?
OK. Yeah, sure.
Thanks, Mayor. More useless garbage.
While Kody is leading them into this position of strength, as
you talked about. And each of them is connected to
each other. We get a visual that's backed up
a step or two, and there's Nancy standing off to the side.
(45:42):
They're just like, I'm the
therapist, this is the exercise I'm leading.
And Kody has taken over to guide
them to strength through their
circled forehead touching
moment.
Prayer, prayer circle, whatever you would call it.
And Nancy asks, is this what
everyone wants?
And Kody says that's our goal.
Cool.
(46:06):
Thanks, Kody.
One of my other worst nightmare
is touching greasy foreheads
with other people.
Oh, I love touching my greasy
forehead to another man's greasy
forehead.
Nothing makes me feel closer to
my authoritarian figure of the
family.
It's the last day of the retreat
and we are going to meet on a
(46:28):
patio and we have some blocks
laid out on a table.
Wooden.
Blocks.
Yes, they are painted on with
black chalk paint, we are told
by Nancy, and each person is
going to take three or four
(46:49):
blocks and use some chalk and
write a word that they really
want on the family mission
statement.
One word per block is what the
direction was.
Some of the blocks had more than
one word.
And I thought, y'all can't
follow directions to save your
life.
But then I gave them a pass
because this is therapy.
It's a safe space.
Is it?
Well, we do find out that this
(47:11):
is an exercise that I think is
probably the best one of the
entire episode, I would assume.
At least that's what we said when we were watching it.
We were like, you know, this oneisn't so bad.
Yeah. Some examples of the words that
were being tossed out by people.
Faith, love, forgiveness and in my head I went Robyn lol OL
forgiveness for that hussy and
her broken up marriage and the
(47:35):
shame she has brought in this
family.
Well, really, it's the debt, but
the shame.
Compassion is another word that.
Compassion. Applied to her, yes, peace and
safety. We must laugh at peace and
safety. It's like, you know, those are
probably pretty important words when you're describing your
family that you'd like to have is peace and safety.
(47:57):
Well, I don't know about peace, but safety.
The main word Christine says this one needs to be on the
biggest block is family. Well, she really loves that
HomeGoods Hobby Lobby word art, so it really fits.
This is totally Hobby Lobby wordart vibes.
(48:17):
By the way. You can sell each of these
pieces from $0.99 to 499 based on the size, and Christine would
pick a random wall in her house to stick one like wherever
it fits in her mind.
Mckelty would come up and just
hang some taffeta off of it. Christine says this is the best
(48:39):
therapy ever in a voiceover. She's like, this is the best
therapy that we have ever had, these blocks.
And as you said, the family is going to go in the middle of
where they're going to be placing these blocks.
And, you know, that makes sense, especially from a retail
standpoint if you're Hobby Lobbyaficionado.
And then they're going to start placing the other blocks around
(49:01):
the center block while discussing where they should go.
That's where this exercise is
going to take us is where do
these words belong in our family
hodgepodge of wooden blocks.
The most important to go close
to the family and then the
supporting words to go out
around the outside.
I can see it now, and Meri's not
(49:22):
liking what she can see as
they're putting them down.
They get to a point where most
of them are laid down and
there's a significant number of them.
Everyone's been kind of placing what they think, oh, saying
things, blah, blah, blah, yadda,
yadda, yadda.
And we've got Meri once again
standing over everyone watching
what people are doing and maybe not providing direction, but
clarifying for everyone.
It's really lopsided.
(49:46):
That is really lopsided.
And Janelle says it doesn't have
to be balanced.
And Meri says, well, we should
be balanced.
It's like, OK, all right, once
again, here we go, Janelle and
Meri.
Janelle and Meri.
Janelle picks a giant wedgie,
and she says it's a brainstorm.
It doesn't need to be artwork. And in case you missed that
(50:09):
little detail, Janelle picks a wedgie.
Literally. It's so funny 'cause as she's
speaking, she's Why do you? Do this to her.
I don't know. They do her dirty so many times.
They show her picking a wedgie
and they're going to show her
dirty dogs later on again.
They could have certainly left
the voice over and had like a
(50:33):
overhead shot or something
signifying what's going on
without showing us her picking
the pants and underwear out of
her ass.
But you know, luckily I didn't
notice it at all, and neither
did you.
Off to the side, Meri is
vigorously rubbing her hands
together like she's itching to
go and fix what's happening in
front of her.
She has her hands and she's
(50:54):
rubbing them together almost
like it's cold out there.
Yeah, but do we believe it's
cold out there, or do we believe
that she just is trying to
contain her eager excitement to
fix shit?
Yeah, everyone else in the
family is doing this and I'm
going to fix it.
I'd love that though.
Yeah, she's standing on the
outside, just literally itching her hands together.
(51:19):
As the pieces have mostly been
placed, if not all placed, Nancy
asks for each of them to speak
about what this collection
symbolizes to them.
And of course, we have to start
with Kody.
It's not like she asked him.
He just has to jump right in.
And honey, because you've been
basically bosom buddies with
Kody this entire episode, I'd
love for you to let our
listeners know what Kody thinks.
(51:42):
Because no one else is going to speak first.
Kody's going to speak first.
We have God at the top, which
speaks to our spiritual
enlightenment.
Yes, of course.
She was just channeling Brigham
Young.
Oh wow, wow.
Meri likes how all of the pieces
are enveloping the family.
(52:04):
The Word family is enveloped by all of these words.
She's trying to shake it out of her hands that she can't go in
and fix this.
Enveloping.
Quite a word.
I side note, I do like when
people use the word enveloping
because it doesn't come
naturally to me and every time I
hear someone talking about
(52:25):
something being enveloped I'm
going holy shit.
Wow, that's quite a word.
You know what I have to say,
That's not an odd word for me to
hear.
I feel like I use it in a normal
way sometimes.
Because in a normal way.
I feel like I use it maybe
regularly because it wasn't a
standout to me like these other
Rick and weird ass things that
they say, but you know.
(52:48):
You have been enveloped.
Kody points out that it is chaos
and order, like their family
trying to make order out of the
chaos.
Well, that's so lovely.
That's such a great way of
putting it, Kody.
Robyn says.
I like that it's not a perfect
square.
Once again chiming in the
(53:11):
village idiot coming around the corner.
It's not a perfect square.
This is.
Meri has to.
Sing God.
We do not fit in a box, do we?
And she laughs and laughs and my
respect level hit an all time
low for both Meri and Robyn.
(53:32):
These two town fools the top
foolery of.
These two, I can't.
I can't even.
Janelle steps in with her bare
feet because she's got something
else to tell us.
She's going to get her hooves up
in here.
She's the only one without shoes
in this clip.
I have to tell you.
Just got to get them dirty
tootsies up in here and she
(53:56):
shows them up, closing in on
that circle with them toes and
she says she doesn't think it
should be balanced.
And then they show her in shoes again and they pretend she's
been wearing shoes the whole
time.
They show her in shoes the rest of the clip after they got.
(54:16):
Some out of sequence shit here.
After they zeroed in on her toesnext to the blocks.
Oh wow. Why do they want her feet in
these shots so much? Which photographer has a foot
fetish for Janelle? I love how I'm going, holy shit.
Things are out of order.
Things are out of sequence.
What does this mean?
(54:37):
And you're like, which one of
these freaks has a foot fetish?
Which one of these?
Freaks.
Has given money to Janelle for a
footy.
Well, I can't remember when it
was, but we talked about 1
little piggy going to the market
and 1 little piggy staying
home. Remember she was going to sell
her foot photos. The put The Dirty little piggy
the plague piggy. Was that rock?
(54:58):
Was that her? Was that someone else?
The plague. Piggies.
No, that was her. She put some dirty ass little
pig piggies. On the bed.
That's right, yeah. Janelle's only.
Clot hoppered them clot hoppers up on there and they didn't even
fit on the plastic. She was too short and she just
curled them up on the white duvet.
Filthy little piggy feet. They show this situation with
(55:22):
the blocks and the words and they are trying to give Janelle
her snap snap snap moment whereshe says I'm coming out of my
own. I didn't even know how to such
an opinion on this but actually I do and I care.
And they show her walking aroundto fix those blocks and they
show her naked little tootsies on the floor right next to those
(55:43):
blocks. And then not even a second later
they show her in her Jesus shoes that she's wearing, which
are actually leather made
together shoes.
Yeah, black strappies. Yeah, they're like strappy
sandals or whatever. They're like like Jesus sandals.
Oh, OK.
And maybe not Jesusy sandals,
but a little bit.
(56:03):
I've never met him, you know.
I think I have in a dream once
or twice, but you know, that's
besides the point.
They show her tootsies in the
shoes, then afterwards.
But on top of it.
Why did they even have to pick
that clip then?
Yeah.
Why even pick the clip of that?
And why not just frankenbite over the whole thing with the
(56:26):
shoes, The Dirty tootsies of it all?
Yeah, someone is obsessed with. Conspiracy.
Not only Janelle's dirty little piggy plague feet, but making
her look weird and unkempt and strange.
A wedgie picking the end thing that they always do to her by
putting her on the end of the group, Yeah.
(56:48):
Zooming in on her when she's like licking the side of her
mouth and. Shit falling out.
Yeah. Her almost falling out of the
child sized desk. After struggling to get out in
the first place. Why?
Who doesn't like her on this editing team?
(57:08):
Because she's probably 1 of the nicest of the group.
I don't understand it. Somebody has a vendetta or
somebody likes Robyn so much that they want to make everyone
else looked bad and she's just an easy target.
She's low hanging fruit. Oh God, as they would say, man,
(57:29):
it's conspiracy that I have. They try to make Janelle look
awful every chance they get. I'm buying into the conspiracy.
I love it, even if it's all
made-up and part of this grand
hallucination week on life.
I'm going to make you rewatch
this clip now because it's very
weird.
I can't.
I can't.
OK.
Well, Janelle says.
I would honestly change the
picture because it doesn't have to be balanced.
(57:53):
And you know, I just had to
throw in the word picture again,
honey, sorry, picture.
As she's moving these pieces
around, she's speaking out loud about why she's moving them and
where she would move them.
It's almost like she's narrating
us through this process, her
creative process.
She's giving us insight into how
she would make this square,
(58:13):
block, square that Robyn thinks should happen into a piece of
art on the floor next to her
little pig piggy feet.
Christine is just glad that this
is happening.
Yeah, it feels good.
It looks good.
It's beautiful.
She starts getting almost, I
felt like a little emotional.
They didn't show her crying, but
(58:34):
it seemed like she was on the
verge of some sort of real feels
here.
Christine thinks the whole goal
of this is actually to work on
the family mission statement.
She doesn't understand that
these whole thing, these the
whole thing, she doesn't realize
that production is forcing
this whole thing.
So Christina's so happy.
Christina's so over the moon
that they are finally figuring
(58:58):
out the mission statement.
Meanwhile, she doesn't
understand that production's
pulling the strings.
Yeah.
Well, she's inspired by this
knock off homemade HomeGoods
Hobby Lobby crap.
So she thinks it's so good and
it's so great.
I'm moved.
I'm going to take pictures.
I'm going to take out the camera
and take pictures of these
(59:19):
wooden blocks.
And now, to be fair, you know,
we weren't trying to tear apart the exercise.
The end result, as far as some
words written on wooden blocks,
I thought it looked OK.
I don't know.
I can't really judge though.
I don't really know what it's
supposed to look like.
I thought it was a very good
exercise.
I guess I would photograph it if
I thought it was inspiration for
my family's mission statement,
(59:41):
but otherwise I would probably
just never do anything with
them.
I'd throw them away, burn them.
If I thought of this time
period, this is being filmed,
feet pictures going into sand
were a big thing, or feet
pictures going into the bathtub or your legs going onto a chair
(01:00:02):
looking over a sunset were a big
thing.
So.
This was a pretty popular type
of photo to take for that time
period.
So you've got all their
Tootsie's foots are covered
here.
Get all of the covered feet sees
pointing in towards the blocks
and they snap a photo from the
top.
So you get the covered Tootsie's
(01:00:23):
around the blocks all right.
The word artist surrounded by
all of their feet and she's
taking the photo.
It's the fan.
Did I not make that clear?
I'm.
Just kidding.
I didn't.
No, you didn't.
But I.
Didn't.
OK, I didn't at all.
OK, yes, but that's the like,
Christina, she's trying to
photograph it.
Like, Oh yeah, it's so
inspirational.
It's whatever everyone gathers
around it and their feet are in
(01:00:44):
the photo.
Like, look at we're all
symbolically here as adults
around the thing.
All the parents are taking
photos around their beautiful
word art.
For all that wild explanation I
just gave, I didn't tell you
guys what happened.
Thanks, Christopher.
Listen, it's all good.
Someone's got to be the man here
and step in and talk about
what's really happening.
God, thank God there's at least
one of you here to put me in my place.
(01:01:06):
Someone's got to be a feminist
on this podcast, and it is me.
Yes, of course.
As these photos are being taken,
we start getting some voiceovers
that usher in the end of the
episode for us, and Kody, of
course, gets to go first 'cause
it's fucking Kody.
And he says that he thinks
Sedona was overall good.
It changed them.
(01:01:26):
Parts of it were awkward and
it's not going to be easy moving
forward, but it will help them
to make progress.
Of course, Robyn has to be
Robyn, honey.
So we need to hear from Robyn.
Q you.
We need some Robyn here.
I need to get to know Nancy
better.
I'm just scared that I'm going
(01:01:47):
to lose Kody's ear.
Somebody is going to try to
balance the family out again and
I just can't have that.
I can't lose Kody's ear to all
these other bitches.
That's not what she said.
I think you.
I think.
You can I paraphrase that?
(01:02:08):
Yeah, I take liberties.
And your accent is crazier than
ever.
Oh.
OK.
Yeah, well, it was.
I was not myself there.
I'm so sorry.
Robyn asked Rejected into my
body, saying what she wished
that she could have said back
then.
Oh, that's true.
OK, well, Robyn needs to get to
know Nancy better.
Robyn doesn't trust Nancy.
(01:02:31):
It's going to take time.
She's still hesitant about
working with someone who doesn't
have experience with the
polygamist family.
And I'm going your first
therapist said that they didn't have any experience working
with his family.
But OK, Robyn, way to connect
the dots.
Way to be coherent, way to be
even know what's going on around
you.
(01:02:53):
Fucking Robyn.
In my mind I'm like, is she
smart enough to think shit shit shit this could fuck up my
spot. Or is she still so part of this
cult that she believes that this person is dangerous for
their family?
Right.
It's hard to know with her. She's a manipulator, really.
Is it that she's so dumb she doesn't know what's going on?
(01:03:16):
Or is she so smart that she knows what's going on and she
has to play dumb? Oh, no, I just might lose Kody's
ear and I just couldn't handlethat.
No, no, no, we cannot have that.We cannot have that.
No, absolutely not. And hot off the heels of Robyn's
stimulating thoughts, Kody says.
I think moving into our new
homes and starting this new
(01:03:37):
chapter in our family, it's
going to be great because of our
family mission statement and our
commitment ceremony.
So good.
My God, you're right.
This, so much of this has to be ushered into by production or
at least prompted as we've talked
about before, where
it's like he's just putting everything in
we.
(01:03:57):
Paid for Pat to get out here to Arizona.
This needs to accumulate to
something we've got a bring it
back to the family mission
statement because God forbid we
food pad out here to actually
help the family.
No, it needed to be a moment for
the show They've.
Got a mission statement and a
commitment ceremony coming up,
(01:04:19):
and Kody feels like that's going
to put a Pretty Little bow and
everything that they've been
working on, they're getting to
that place.
They're going to get there,
honey.
They're going to get there.
And they show a cutaway similar to what they did with Meri and
Kody on their honeymoon long,
long ago over a rock overseeing
them.
And they show the family being
all giddy and cute, taking
pictures together over the red
(01:04:41):
rocks.
And it's a cutaway photo.
And it's just magical, magical, magical.
And I said to Chris, do you
think this was supposed to be
the season finale originally?
It definitely had wrap up vibes.
I agree with that.
What stuck out to me is as this
ending is happening, there's a
voiceover from Janelle where she
(01:05:02):
says I think we're leaving here with a vague direction.
Like the two things we're
supposed to take away from this
wrap up that are moving us in
the right direction.
Is Kody giving us some bullet
points about a mission statement
in the commitment ceremony
coming up, which seemed
production driven and just
that's where we're going,
clearly.
And the other thing is Janelle
(01:05:24):
saying that we're leaving with a
vague direction.
So luckily this weekend with Pat
and Nancy has really brought
us to a place that we can feel good
about.
And as you were saying, this is all happening over footage that
is them climbing up a hillside, kind of.
Red Rock Overview.
There, it's that thing where
(01:05:46):
they're far away, but they're
zoomed in so that the background
is blurred, you know, like this.
It's the sentiment. It's a little different.
It's a different aesthetic than the rest of the reality TV
footage. Yeah.
The feel is that it is being teed up for a conclusion and
ending a what's going to happen next?
But we don't even get an X step on no.
(01:06:08):
And then we looked at what's Next up on and of course it's a
tell all. It's a tell all in the middle of
the season. Yeah.
It would be interesting to know if they were anticipating that
this would be a cliffhanger for the end of the season.
And then we would be having the next season be what's going to
happen for the family mission statement to come together and
(01:06:29):
will they have their commitment ceremony and.
Oh, meanwhile I wonder. Well they got ordered more
episodes for the season because it was making money and they
thought we might as well releasemore episodes on this season.
Especially if they were filming it all consecutively anyway and
they were planning on breaking it up.
Because we've had the same thingwith the show throughout the
(01:06:50):
life of it at this point is, well, did they even take a break
with filming here, when did this happen, blah, blah, blah
blah.
It's hard to tell.
Well, even that finale was
obviously shot during the first
segment of their getaway where
they were all taking the photo
and being cutesy together and
pushing Janelle into the photo.
You know that was shot at that
time, the ending footage.
(01:07:13):
Yeah.
It wasn't that they'd made him
go up there again at the end and
shot that to end the episode.
You know this is the contrived.
Stage. Contrived reality of reality.
TV. Yeah, well, well, what I what I
don't want to say what gives mehesitation, but I'm going How is
it that they're teeing up things?
This is what's weird about TLC specifically, like these kind of
(01:07:37):
trash shows where why would you be talking about what you're
going to be wrapping up your next season with on this season?
You know, they're just bad with
content planning.
Like we wouldn't do that.
You wouldn't wrap up one season with what's going to happen at
the end of the next season.
You might do a cliffhanger for
what starts at the next season.
So bad planning, bad story arcs, bad everything.
(01:08:01):
Yeah. Unlikable people, An unlikable
television show. Welcome.
Thanks. Waste your time with us on the
couch as we waste our own time because we're a couple of
deadbeat. Losers, deadbeat losers here
watching this terrible show where nothing happens and yet we
managed to talk about it. 4 hours.
The original episode is 45 minutes, and here we are five
(01:08:25):
hours later. Five hours later, people have
come to expect certain things from us even though we are
deadbeat losers, including mustard seed and shit stain.
Dammit, they expect too much of us.
Could you all lower your expectations please?
Please. If you're still even here
listening to this, what do you think, girl?
What are you going to give us? Who's going to get your mustard
(01:08:46):
seed? Brace yourselves, pull your cars
over. I don't want any accidents on my
account. My mustard seed is going to go
to Kody Brown. Is this a show first?
I don't think so. I feel like.
I feel like one of us has done it before.
Correct us if we're wrong because.
I was going to say some whoever's keeping track of the
(01:09:08):
leaderboard, please let us know if he's ever gotten a mustard
seed on her own. Shoulder to the arms of my
chair, just like shaking myself violently.
He's touched you. Well, yes, he has this episode,
He has. He had good points during the
(01:09:29):
therapy sessions. He failed as a father when
talking to Leon about funding their college.
Yes, yes, but that was long, long ago at the beginning of
this episode. OK, let's forget about that.
Kody had great points about the Sister Wives.
(01:09:49):
If, and I'm playing complete devil's advocate here, I am
playing from the side of this istheir religion.
This is why he's doing it, OK? He said.
You know, you guys need to have relationships outside of me.
I can't be the center of all of this if we are a family.
The truth of that is that you would maintain the status of
(01:10:12):
family after my passing on to the Celestial Kingdom.
So if I as your prophet am dead and gone, you know.
Sew those legs together. He's.
Actually being truthful if he's speaking to his religion right
now and trying to guide his wives on their spiritual path
(01:10:35):
towards the celestial Kingdom. Yeah, and even roping down that
celestial Kingdom and bringing it down here to planet Earth,
it's generally what should happen in a family.
I mean, you should have relationships with each other,
and they shouldn't be interdependent on one person
being the navigator or the problem solver or the whatever.
It is true.
So Ding Ding for Kody several
times in this episode.
(01:10:56):
Love me or hate me, that's where
I'm going with this right now
and.
Just like Kody Brown, love me or
hate me, my mustard seed for
this episode goes to his loving
wife Janelle.
Because I did like that she took
some, I don't know, she got a
little gusto underneath her
bosom.
Her burning bosom turned into a
(01:11:18):
creative bosom and she moved
those blocks around as if it was
her thing.
And she did it in front of Meri
while Meri was looking at her.
Like, how very dare you touch
those fucking blocks.
I am Meri Brown.
I move the blocks.
Wife #1.
Yes, she.
You know, I'm so timid.
I'm so scared of everyone all
the time.
Oh my God, how very dare you.
And Janelle just stepped in
(01:11:39):
there and moved those blocks as she damn well pleased and I
applauded.
I also wanted to take her little
dirty piggy piggies and put them
in my mouth.
And admit that you have a
fetish.
And rub my tongue and roll my
tongue all over those dirty
little piggy piggies.
Janelle, I will sign up for your
(01:12:00):
Only fans and I will pay a lot.
You heard it here first. Just to send your kids to
college. Oh no, her kids.
I thought I was talking about me.
Oh God, that was wrong. To know I'm going to beg you
right now to please pay off my student loans with them plaguey
piggy feedies. Please, please, now that we've
discussed Janelle's little piggypiggies for longer.
(01:12:24):
Or piggy piggies for longer thananyone's ever wanted to hear
about Janelle's toes. Ever.
Well, except for me, because of course I'm secretly obsessed.
It's time for your shit stain, darling.
My shit stain. It is going to go to Robyn
Brown. It's probably partially because
she actually is a piece of shit.
(01:12:45):
And it's probably partially
because Janelle used her dirty
piggy piggy tootsies to roll up a loose sushi roll and fed it
to Robyn.
And Robyn got nauseous and had
to miss a large part of this
family retreat for God knows
(01:13:08):
why.
We don't know why, Robyn.
And I think you're a dirty,
dirty liar.
And I think you told Kody
something.
And I think Kody stayed in your room that night and this is
alleged and I think he stayed in
your room that night.
And I think you pretended that, oh, you might have had a little
bit of a tummy, a little morning
sickness the next day and you
(01:13:30):
still feel like going.
And I don't think that you like
therapy and I think you don't
like that it's going to call you
out for the person you are and
that you're manipulating the
family.
And I think you're pretended to
be pregnante be because of it.
And you are my shit stain.
Wow.
And it's all alleged.
That is good girl.
Allegedly.
I do love this conspiracy theory
of the tie in of the pragante
(01:13:55):
with the nauseousness.
It's one of those things would.
You wear.
Well, listen, it's one of those
things where it's just far
fetched off enough where like
she does with the negligee tops,
where if you experience it,
you go, this is ridiculous.
Like I can't be thinking she's
pretending to be nauseous
because she's pregnant, or she's
nauseous because she's pregnant,
or she's pretending to be
(01:14:17):
nauseous because she's
pretending to be pregnant.
You can't let yourself go there because it's just crazy enough.
In all reality, she's the psycho
bitch doing it.
She's manipulative and I think
she pretended to be sick either
way to manipulate him.
Yeah, I think the odds are in
your favor for that assumption
because I would agree, I would
(01:14:37):
gamble money I don't have on it.
Allegedly. So the smear in my underwear
this week belongs to 1 Meri Brown.
Meri, Meri. Quite contrary.
I just struggle so much with believing you, and I want to
believe you. Anyone who's listened to this
show knows that I try to get on Team Meri.
(01:15:00):
I try. I buy the tickets.
I sit in the front row and I leave halfway through because I
go, this is garbage. This is trash.
And why don't you show us your feet?
I say why aren't you showing your little piggy piggies Meri?
I just can't believe her when
she expresses her feelings
sometimes.
(01:15:22):
Might make me the king of the
manosphere.
Might make me someone who's UN
empathetic even though I'm such
an empath.
I just don't believe her.
I think it might not be an
outright lie, but it is not
positioning things correctly for
her to feign that she can't
express herself because of fear that she'll be labeled as
abusive, well, that makes sense on paper, but when I'm watching
(01:15:45):
the footage, I'm going girl, I
don't believe it.
I just don't believe it.
I don't believe her, and I'm not
saying she's a liar, but I don't
believe her.
She's a good actress.
Oh, does she deserve an award?
Well.
She did get an award today.
She got my shit stain.
Show those feet first.
(01:16:05):
Maybe feet.
Show us those.
Feet, our keep sweet moment this
week is going to be quite a
pivot from where this episode
has brought us and our alleged
slander.
Is it light hearted?
No.
No, we could use some of that
right now.
Bring me back to reality.
(01:16:27):
I'm here for it.
This keeps me moment comes to us
from Katie 2284 on YouTube and
Katie says I just wanted to say
that the first time I saw a
video from you, the opening song
made me cry because my Papa
would sing that to me when I was
little.
He passed away in 2003 and I
hadn't heard that song since
then.
(01:16:47):
It was an instant subscribe in
the 1st 5 seconds.
Heart emoji.
Katie, that is super special.
I love that you have that memory
with him and I hope that you
continue to listen to the show.
And if you want to pay me for feet pictures, let me know
because I could use it to pay for my own student loans.
(01:17:11):
The. Connection from this heart
warming tale of music that reminds her of her father.
You're going to connect it to your dirty piggy piggy feet.
I mean. I mean, they're not plaguey
feet, they're just dirty. They could be plaguey.
Oh. Let me call you sweet feet.
(01:17:35):
I'm in love with feet. No, no, you cannot post that
after that. This episode is so wrong.
This episode is so wrong. I know I can't.
This is so wrong. For the record, this may be our
(01:18:11):
most cringe episode that I've ever felt while wrapping it up.
Just so you guys know this.
I don't know if this will make
an edit but my God we have hit
an all time low and you know,
glad you were here for it.
