Natasha, President of Redefining Refuge joins Not A Great Whisperer Podcast. Redefining Refuge is a non-profit dedicated to fighting for children who have been victims of the depraved injustice of sexual abuse, and an emphasis on domestic sex trafficking of minors. Natasha discusses moving to the United States from South Africa during her senior year of high school. She went to USF and decided to go to a community alliance meeting in 2008 when she heard a discussion on “child prostitutes” and could not believe what she was hearing when the age of consent is 18 years old. This sparked something inside her and she began researching and fighting for young children living with this trauma and opened Redefining Refuge in 2010 to provide services to survivors. Pedophilia and trafficking is happening right in front of us everyday and has been happening for a long time. She discusses how real this is and how people from any background can be affected.
