Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Kate Torba, I'm Amy Torba, and I'm Sophie Torba. And
coming up on today's show, Tammy Hembro and Rhys Hawkin's
Secret Date, a cult Australian active where brand goes into
receivership and Sam Guggenheimer's First Class Snub but First Ozzie.
(00:26):
Influencer Lauren Lackin has sparked debate about appropriate pool attire
after she and her family were denied entry into a
public pool in France. The family of four were turned
away for hygiene reasons. Now, so before we get into
the controversy, can you bring listeners up to speed on
who Lauren is.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
She is a micro influencer with fifty four point six
thousand followers on Instagram and recently she's been sharing about
her euro adventures and what it's like traveling with her
two kids and husband. Now it's quite interesting because in
her bio she has included that it's her first eurosummer
at forty years old, and this week she learned a
lesson in French pool etiquette. So the family decided to
(01:08):
visit a public pool near their airbnb, but were quickly
turned away because Lauren's husband and son were wearing board shorts. Now,
she uploaded her family's reaction to her Instagram account. Let's
take a listen to what went down.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
We went to go in and they wouldn't allow kids
to wear swim shorts.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Allowed, no board shots.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
You have to wear euro shorts or speeders, so they
must be boxer breefs. There must be skins, pets and
hugging the ginitailure to enter the pool. No, these are
two conservative apparently.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
I don't know about being too conservative, but that's the rule.
So just be warned. Maybe pack some of those that
you had a vending machine there where you could buy them.
But Houston also in his little board shots, couldn't get
in with the boys. The girls you could wear whatever,
but the boys you had to where the like speedos.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I had no idea this was a thing. I mean,
I've never been to France before, but I have never
heard of euroshorts. I mean, you've been, have you? Did
you know this was a thing. I didn't go swimming
in France, but I'm pretty impressive. They have vending machines
full of bathers, Like, what the hell it sounds like
Tokyo where they've got vending machines to everything.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
I mean, it's clearly revenue raising.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
They obviously make a lot of money from turning people
away in the wrong bathers. I mean, clearly a lot
of tourists don't know that this is a thing. That's
why it is so lucrative for them. It sounds like
they're charging a bit of a premium at this private
pool as well. Now, for those who are just as
confused as me, I want to go into what euroshorts
are because I had to look up the definition. Now,
they are also referred to as euro swim trunks or eurobriefs,
(02:46):
and they are a classic form fitting brief that leaves
the upper leg completely bare, So they're basically swimwear that
looks like box of briefs or trunks. Now, it says
online that they are mandatory in public pools in many
parts of Europe for hygiene reasons, as they consider baggy
board shorts as street wear and think that they can
(03:07):
carry dirt into the water. Now, reading between the lines,
this is because in particular, a lot of ossie men
wear their jocks under their board shorts, and who knows
how many days they've had those jocks on four and
they don't want that filth carried into the pool. And
I think I could kind of get around this. Yeah,
I always find it odd when people wear jocks under
(03:29):
their bathies. It's like, wait a second, you meant to
be wearing, Like, what's the purpose. I've never seen women
walk in with their bonds undies on into the pool.
I recently had this debate with a group of people
at a wedding and there was one guy there who
was adamant that he only ever wears speedos under his
board shorts, and I admitted, well, I mean on behalf
of my husband. He wears undies when he goes swimming
(03:50):
under his board shots. And by the end of our honeymoon,
literally all of the dye had run, the chlorine had
got into them, the elastic was gone. Like you can
see why it doesn't work. I'm just confused, though, what
are people actually worried about, Because if you're concerned about
being in a pool of water with someone's underpants, well,
their bum and their dick and their bowls and everything's
(04:12):
in the pool anyway, So if someone's got skitties, they're
going to have skitties on their barm and like you know, well,
the thing is, I had never really considered the whole
undies thing from a germ perspective, because there's so much
chlorine in the pool. All that's gonna all those germs
are going to die anyway. I also thought about it
from a look's perspective, like when you see someone's Bonds
or Calvin Klein undise underneath. I just don't think it's
(04:35):
the best look. Did you guys see the Abby Chatfield's
boyfriend Adam Hyde. He is now the new poster boy
for Bonds, so they've got rid of for Robert Erwin,
he's no longer the Bonds boy this year. The announcement
wasn't quite met with the excitement when Robert no, the
comment section was just flooded by haters. But there was
one photo that confused a lot of people, and it
(04:55):
was Adam wearing two pairs of jocks, so it was
like a close up you couldn't even see his face.
It was just his's like abs and just two pairs
of jocks like two bombs. They were just layed. Yeah,
they were layered. Everyone's like, why's he got too? Is
he double bagged?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (05:10):
In case you get caught short on the topic of
sort of etiquette around bathers and underwear, you know how
they have that sticky tag and favors that you're not
meant to peel off like a hygiene thing. This girl
I follow who is an influencer, We actually met her
at an Adelaide event and she's moved to Melbourne now.
Speaker 5 (05:26):
She's the nicest girl. Her name's Chloe Ferrari.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
And anyway, she went to try on some leggings at
a store and when she was trying them on, she
noticed that one pair of leggings had someone else's dry
charge in them. She's like, who the fuck is trying
on leggings without underpants? Has anyone ever had this thought
during an important meeting with like older people, that there
are a number of dicks or vaginas in the room.
Speaker 5 (05:51):
I know that sounds really odd, but.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
You know, you know when people say to humanize other people.
I have thought it's so weird that there's just this
cloth of material and everyone's just flopping about. I think
we need to get back to this pool story because
it is quite a funny one. The people that are
outraged by the Laika pooads are going to be like, oh,
this is just.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
About well like the thing that they've said dick and balls.
And the thing that makes me laugh most about this
whole rule is that the French seem to be so
put off by men wearing bored shorts, but they're fine
for them to get around in dick bathers.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I have to drop that term. That is a term
my in laws use all the time. I mean, that
term gives me the absolute dick, but you've got to
be pretty confident to pull off. Some budget smugglers don't
have a big dick to wear a pair of mind Well,
I feel like Juchi's husband's always jar Tunci's husband, Lucky
Bricky's always rocking them. I think it was an underwear
(06:45):
model at some point. Well, I mean, I think the
reason that Lauren and I think the reason that Lauren
and her family got so confused by this rule is
because a lot of ossies go to Asia for their
summer holidays and you having to make an effort to
cover up for religious reasons, not show more skin. But
in France, like, come on, get it out, we want
(07:06):
to see it. That's what I was confused by. So, like,
if a woman turns up in like a rashie and
wants to be conservative, does she have to just wear
like a t.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
B.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
No. Well, I looked into the rules and it looks
like they do prefer women to wear a one piece
if possible. They're also fanatical about swimming caps, so a
lot of people pointed out in Lauren's comment section that
if you don't bring a swimming cap to some public pools,
you're also barred. So apparently that is for hygiene reasons
as well and water filteration reasons.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Can you imagine France's version of Love Island?
Speaker 1 (07:43):
They're all rocking swimming caps and euroshorts, and they're funny
about thongs as well. And I have to point out
when I'm talking about thongs, I mean flip flops, because
apparently patrons are required to walk barefoot to the pool.
They can't have their thongs on the pool deck as
well for cleanliness reasons, I mean dirty. What happens in
France if you piss in the pool, is that like
(08:03):
an immediate ten thousand dollar fine? Oh, because I've been
guilty of that before. Well that's disgusting. But you know
how your parents used to tell you and you're a
kid that if you pee in the pool, the pool
turns a different color. I bet they've invented something that
actually made Jalen I and you are literally like it
probably turns yellow, and you're literally like hold out of
the pool area and.
Speaker 5 (08:22):
Put into jail.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Dayla and I were talking the other day because it's
his dream to get a pool, and he's like, one
day we're going to get a pool. And he was
saying he'd love to have like seats where you could
have like a bar.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
In the pool.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
And I said, Dale, that is literally encouraging people to
come over and piss in your pool. It's just like
saying yeap, just we I think I may have spoken
on the podcast about a Christmas party incident like fifteen
years ago one of my first employers, where one of
the guys offered up his house for the party and
he was so proud of this spa he had, and
I remember sitting in it and being like, I've gotten
(08:54):
up at least twice to have a wee and these
men have been sitting in King beer, three hours drinking
beers and then when we got out of the spar
it was literally yellow and the poor had to end
up like draining it. And like, can I point out
I used to be a culprit of this, like when
I would go on holidays, I could as a decade ago,
I used to occasionally piece in the pool if I
(09:15):
really could still seven, it's not okay? Well no, actually
I think it was when I was twenty five, not
that that makes it much better, but now I mean
I don't actually get in the pool that often, but
now I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it now
now that I'm a mother. Anyway, getting back to this video,
I think you'd have more of an excuse to do it.
But it says your blooder is probably not though in
(09:35):
those types of shorts, of swim shorts that you could
see someone urinate, maybe they think shorts you could hide
it a bit more.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
True.
Speaker 7 (09:43):
Well.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Lauren's video, as you could imagine, received a massive response.
At the time of recording, it's had three point seven
million views, and a lot of people were getting fired
up in the comments section because her video seemed to
reach a lot of people in France, who pointed out
that the rule had no nothing to do with moral
or conservative dressing, rather hygiene. One person wrote, proper pool hygiene.
(10:05):
An incredible amount of boys and men wear their normal
underwear under those shorts, or never change and use them
as streetwear and never properly pre shower. I wish it
was like this everywhere. I really like this comment. One
user said, love the fact that somewhere someone is judging
men's clothing and not women's. And a lot of other
people pointed out that their favorite thing is when Europeans
(10:26):
show up to American beaches in their speedos and everyone
laughs at them, and then they have to go and
buy bad John.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
We arrived twenty three hours later, and let me tell you,
I did not sleep that whole time, which is so
crazy for me, and I'm dying now.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Sam Gugenheimer and her boyfriend Ryan Maloney's travel plans have
divided opinions online. Over the weekend, the new couple jetted
off to Europe, just weeks after they get away to
the Mount Dives. O, Kate, I'm so confused.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
Is Sam Gugenheimer dating toty from neighbors?
Speaker 7 (10:57):
Like?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
That's Ryan Maloney is totally from neighbors as the expert
Sam Guggenheimer reporter. That's what so, and I've been calling
you off, Mike, please confirm you've got a fight to
get Sam Gugenheimer stories on this podcast. For some reason,
you guys don't find her that interesting, but I think
a lot of our listeners do. I think it's because
she's twenty four and I've never really related to her
or connected to her on any level. I mean, we're
(11:18):
living very different lives. I found myself now watching very
different YouTube Like the other day, this young girl's YouTube
popped up and it was all about health and fitness,
and I was like, Babe, I cannot relate to this.
Like she was complaining about the lack of time she
had in her day. And I've turned into that person
that I've hated. That's like, oh, you don't know the
half of us. See, I actually hate followed those people now,
like people in their mid twenties. I sit back and
(11:40):
with my with my fridge singing and I roll my eyes,
and my husband's forced to watch and go, oh, look
at them complaining they don't even do anything, and then
you rejoice when they announce their pregnancy because you're like,
oh my god, finally they're going to have to do something.
I feel like we need to change the word hate follow, though,
because it sounds really mean. It doesn't sum up how
I follow people like I enjoy. I watch people that
(12:00):
have different stages of life and roll my eyes. But
I don't consider that hating of it. It's like an
intrigue follow. Yes, can we rename it something else? Anyway?
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Kate, what's Sam? What's Sam Guggenheimer up to this week?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Well, just to confirm she's not dating the actor that
plays Tody on Neighbors, Amy, you were actually absent on
the episode where Sophie and I went into her relationship
with Ryan Maloney. So he is a DJ and he
is the son of two incredibly wealthy parents. His mum,
DII Maloney is renowned for holding these massive parties on
(12:33):
New Year's Eve. Anyway, So it turns out that Ryan
has begged Sam to go on this trip to Europe
with him, and she put out a bit of a
disclaimer last week on a TikTok saying, oh, you know,
I don't have enough money to go and I really
need to work on myself. But my boyfriend managed.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
To convince me to go to Europe with him.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
She's just forced herself to go. I mean he really
had to twist her arm for a trip to Europe.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
Very relatable content there.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Now, it turns out that Ryan booked himself first class
tickets as you do, and Sam was stuck in economy
the night before the flight. She obviously was like fuck
that and ended up upgrading her tickets, but they still
were sitting separate.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Let's have a listen to see what Sam said about it.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
My spoil little boyfriend had first class tickets, so I
was a roll dug on it and I'm so glad
I upgraded.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Is this not a massive red flag? I mean, this
guy has had to apparently convince her to come with
him on this trip to Europe. Then he decides to
not even sit with her, Like why couldn't he just
get economy tickets and sit together? That's part of the trip,
It's the bonding, you know, you sit on the flight
in chat. This is reminding me of the episode of
Sign for where Jerry gets upgraded to first class and
(13:42):
he's sat next to a model and he's getting served
chocolate Sundays and.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
Poor lanes like stuck between all these men.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
I mean, it's not like you're slumming it in business class.
But it was clear that Sam didn't really have the
money to fly business class, yet felt like she had
to upgrade because you'd feel like a bit of a
loser if your boyfriend's traveling first class and you're economy.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
I've never traveled.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Business class or first class, but I've seen a lot
of people on YouTube doing it. And the thing is,
you are in your own little pod. It doesn't really
matter if your partner is next to you anyway. It's
not like you can reach across and hold their hands. Yeah,
but do you know what does matter for it's the
person who's stuck in cattle class while they're probably getting
messages from the boyfriend living it up. I mean, does
this not show that chivalry is dead? I mean, if
(14:23):
he's got the money to afford first class, why doesn't
he do the decent thing and say, hey, here, here's
a surprise for you. I'm going to take your crap
ticket and you can sit up here.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Yeah true, I.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Mean, let's be clear, he doesn't have the money. His
parents have the money. Some of Sam's followers were pretty
confused by at all. Someone wrote, your boyfriend didn't get
you the same ticket, and then another person wrote why
wouldn't your boyfriend pay for your upgrade? Weird as fuck,
and Sam responded, because I want to pay my own
way for things. I totally get that, But I really
liked your idea, Sophie, of being like, hang on, this
(14:54):
guy clearly travels first class all the time.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Give the experience to your girlfriend.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Isn't this what caused the infan as friendship breakup between
Shawnee Grimm and Michael Finch and the rest of the gang,
Because wasn't it that she and Michael No, she had
first class tickets and the rest of them were back
in cattle class and they literally used the whole flight
to bitch about her, and then everyone was against her
the whole trip, like this isn't a good move. Yeah,
I think it's a big no note, particularly if you're
(15:19):
traveling with a group like that's just going to ostracize
you from day dot.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
It was quite funny though.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Despite being in business class, Sam complained a lot. So
She didn't like the taste of the coffee. She said
it tasted like petrol, and she also didn't sleep. She
then later showed vision of her lying next to her
boyfriend under white sheets, so it looked like she may
have snuck into first class or potentially he upgraded her
on the second leg of the trip.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
It wasn't really clear, you know, you know on Bridesmaids.
I just I'm dismissus and Rick.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
It's a woman on the side of the plane. Why
does this remind me of you?
Speaker 7 (15:52):
Though?
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Okay, I feel like if you were to fly business class,
oh so sorry free but recent like in recent times,
if you were to fly business class, I feel like
you would be the sort of person that would be
judging everything because you're can't turning into our dad who
would do the same, Like our dad writes full reviews
on the flights he takes and the accommodation he stays
(16:13):
in when he goes on holiday. Well, I suppose if
you're paying top dollar, you expect a certain standard of service.
But I mean, doesn't this just say everything that you
need to know about this guy? I mean, could he
not have slummed it for one flight just to be
with his girlfriend? Like, isn't the whole part of the
trip that you're spending time together? But don't they say,
once you go first class, you can't go back. Let's
(16:35):
be fair to him. He's only ever experienced first class.
So I can't wait to see the accommodation that they're
staying at. I mean, I'm guessing that he allows Sam
to stay in the same room as him at the
five star accommodation.
Speaker 5 (16:48):
She's out at the hostel, who's at the Mayfair?
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Brand new Soul Fleece colors launching on pres out in
our end of Financial Yourself.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Australian active where brand Stacks has been placed into receivership
despite being touted as a fifty two million dollar business
just four years ago. Receivers were appointed on Wednesday to
investigate the company's finances over outstanding debt.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
While the news took customers by surprise, the writing has
been on the wall.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
For some time.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
There were some clues that they were struggling in late
twenty twenty four when they started closing their brick and
mortar stores, and the offloading of their stores rapidly escalated
last year when the owners suddenly closed six stores and
sold three of their luxury cars, all seemingly in a
bid to save the business. At its peak, Stacks had
twelve stores, but by the time the business was put
(17:38):
into receivership on Wednesday, only two of those stores remained. Yeah,
and the owners Don Robertson and Matilda Murray have been
pretty open about the issues with the stores. In a
recent interview on the Two Broke Chicks podcast, Matilda admitted
it wasn't a good decision to open the stores, and
back in September, Don told The Daily Telegraph that things
hadn't been going well for the business for over twelve months.
(18:00):
He said, we decided last week we needed to rapidly
close the stores and pull the band aid off to
ultimately save the business. Clearly that hasn't really worked. I mean,
this has been a massive fall from grace for them.
Just four years ago they were named on the AFI
Rich List with an estimated worth of seventy million dollars
and at the time the company was booming, they had
(18:21):
one hundred and sixty staff and an estimated turnover of
thirty million dollars a year. And it's really sad to
watch because their story was really celebrated as this rags
to riches one And for those who don't know the backstory,
Don and Matilda are married, and it was actually Don
who launched the brand in twenty fifteen from the spare
room at his mum's house in Perth. Now, by early
(18:42):
twenty twenty, they were ready to call it quits, but
they gave it one more crack, spending their life savings
to shoot a campaign for a new collection called Premium
Seamless V Two. Now. They were meant to fly in
a bunch of influencers from all over the country to
appear in a commercial. However, lockdown hit and Tilda ended
up modeling the active wear herself. Now, despite this hiccup,
(19:04):
the collection sold out in a matter of minutes and
it's really been a staple for a lot of influencers.
I think it's safe to say that Stax's influencer marketing
strategy in the early twenty twenties was a big part
of its success.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I remember back then it seemed like every single influencer
and their dog was wearing Stacks. I mean, those who
didn't own their own active wear brands. It's crazy though,
because when I reflect, I haven't really seen anyone speaking
about them recently. The last I heard of Stax was
actually when Steph kles Smith and Laura Henshaw released an
active wear line with them, so that was in twenty
(19:38):
twenty four.
Speaker 5 (19:39):
It actually sold out within thirty minutes.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
It's funny to reflect because the first big influencer Stax
actually worked with was Steph Packer. Now, for those not
familiar with her, she is a Gold Coast influencer.
Speaker 5 (19:52):
She's in the fitness space.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
She's friends with Talia Skaines, and her range of bike
shorts sold out in just thirty minutes. Then, of course,
at the peak of the brand's popularity, they partnered with
TikToker Anna Paul and at the time she was also
in her peak of popularity and they created this limited
edition capsule collection and they ended up shutting down the
(20:13):
city of Perth when they did a meet and greet
with Anna Paul at.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
The Stasa store in Perth.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
So it's crazy to think how this brand has gone
downhill in such a short amount of time. Remember, they
did those massive runway shows as well, and literally every
single influencer in Australia was invited to it. And I
think was that where some shit went down with Addis
Paul and Sophia Begg. Didn't he bring her to the
Stack show? Just quickly after breaking up with Mikhayla Tester. Yeah,
(20:40):
I remember there was some beef between Mikayla Tester and
Addas Paul at the event, and a lot of influencers
actually modeled in the runway show because one of the
things that made Stack so popular was the fact that
they had a lot of diversity on the runway and
also in their campaigns.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
They were touted as the most.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Inclusive active war brand in the world, offering sizes from
extra Extra Small to for exl so on the runway
there were influencers as well as real customers, and that's
why I think it's quite sad, because they were doing
all the right things in terms of inclusivity. It's been
really fascinating to see how some active web brands have
had to evolve in order to stay in the market.
(21:17):
One that springs to mind is Beck Judd's brand Jagged.
In twenty eighteen, it was one of the hottest active
web brands that you could be wearing. I remember it
was so expensive and they were really clever because they
got a lot of big influences like Laura Henshaw and
Brooke Hogan on board to design their own capsules and
they would speak a lot about them on their own Instagrams,
And now I feel like Jagged has tried to evolve
(21:39):
with its audience. It's now promoting it to millennials who
wore them originally. But there is a bit of an
older vibe to the brand, and they're sort of having
to rely on sales, so it's always three for one
hundred dollars. Yeah, but that makes me think that they're
not doing that well and that they've got a lot
of stock to clear.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
Yeah, but that's how they're staying in the market.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
They've had to pivot their marketing strategy. They're going, Okay,
it's millennials who often are mums that don't have heaps
of money to spend on themselves and who like a bug.
And I actually think it's pretty clever. In terms of
why Stax has gone into receivership. I don't think it's
so much that their influencer strategy wasn't working. I think
that they grew too quickly, and they also seemed quite
insular in the fact that Matilda and Don were very
(22:20):
involved in the business from a granular level. They were
running the stacks as vip Facebook group. They prided themselves
on replying to DMS all the time. They were very
much in the thick of the business. They didn't have
any external investors, and I think that's probably where the
issuers come. They didn't have anyone saying, hang on, maybe
you shouldn't go and open twelve stores. Maybe open one
(22:40):
or two see how they go. While there has been
a huge outpouring of support for Donn and Matilda, I
have also seen a lot of criticism for some of
the business practices that they did, particularly in April this year,
so they did a pre sale and a lot of
customers have said that they are still waiting for items
that they bought in that pre sale, And just recently
(23:02):
on their website, Stacks have closed down the sale that
they were running and they've got a big Q and
a up about what it means now that they're in receivership.
And the TAKEO message here is that a lot of
customers who shopped prior to them going into receivership may
actually not receive the items that they bought, and there
are no mentions of a refund.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
The only time a refund has been.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Brought up is if you shopped after they went into receivership.
So there are people who have been shopping since April
trying to support the brand who are now saying, well,
I'm hundreds of dollars out of pocket.
Speaker 5 (23:36):
And they're not happy.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
I mean I wouldn't be too happy either if I
was one of these people, particularly because there's been a
lot of criticism that Don and Matilda have been splashing
their cash. So if you're someone that follows them, because
they've somewhat become influencers in their own rights, and if
you're someone that follows them, you'd be like, oh, I'm
comfortable spending at this sale because it doesn't look like
money is any issue to them whatsoever. Well, they're now
(24:00):
both on private on Instagram, which is really interesting. Tammy
Hembro has revealed she tried to rekindle her romance with
baby Daddy Reese Hawkins. The mega influencer, admitted she went
on a date with her former fiance this year. So
Tammy made this emission on her sister Emily Hembro's podcast,
I think we broke this news ages ago. Yeah. Well,
(24:22):
she dropped a lot of bombs during this episode. It's
the most I've ever heard her reveal In a long time.
And as you said, Kate, this news shouldn't come as
such a surprise because back in January, the rumor mil
went into overdrive with reports that Tammy and Reese were
patching things up. That's after eight years they've been apart.
(24:42):
So this was massive news because Tammy and Reese were
the ultimate power couple in the twenty tens, and to
this day, a lot of people stand their relationship. Now,
back in January, the Gold Coast Bulletin and the Daily
Telegraph ran with headlines of a Tammy and Reese reconciliation,
and the publication referenced whispers from sauces close to Tammy
(25:04):
saying she had rekindled things with Reese and had been
spending a considerable amount of time with him, and that
he'd been staying the night at her house. Now, Tammy
didn't shy away from any of this speculation. She in
fact fuelled it by posting with Reese on her Snapchat story. Now,
this was fresh off the back of his breakup with
fitness influencer Live Kelly, and he was seen sipping a
(25:27):
wine on Tammy's patio at night. He looked quite sheepish
when he noticed that Tammy was filming and he covered
his face. The real kick in the dick to Mattzakowski
was Reese was drinking from a wine glass with Matt's
initials on it. Well, Tammy also captioned this snapchat mum
and dad, which was a bit you know. I mean,
I wonder what the kids thought of all of this. Well,
(25:47):
I remember we shared it to our Instagram account and
Tammy commented under it, it's really not that deep, guys
with a laughing face. And sure we have two kids
together and we are friends.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
But it seems like it was deep.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Actually, following these reports, we had an outspoken listener slide
into our DM and deliver us some absolute tea. So
the listener, who preferred to remain anonymous, just so happened
to be swimming next to Tammy and Reese and their
kids at the beach on New Year's Eve, and according
to this anonymous listener, the former fiances were hugging in
the water while Tammy's arms were around Reese's neck. I mean,
(26:23):
you say, according to the reports, but the person sent
the video, We've all watched it.
Speaker 5 (26:27):
It was very lovey dovey.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
And I always adamant that they were going to come
out and announce that they were together. So when all
of this Grayson t Muana stuff came out, I was like, no, Well,
at the time, we decided not to share the video
because we thought it was an invasion of their privacy
and maybe wasn't on because their kids were in the vision.
But now that she's admitted that they weren't on a date,
is this came on? Do we release the vision? Maybe
(26:53):
just blow the kids' faces. Maybe we should actually put
her out there when we met this house now. Speaking
on Emily's podcast, Hammy revealed that, of course, as we've said,
the former couple went on a date. Let's take a listen.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
I was like rooting for you and Reese to get
back together. I feel like a lot of people were
that that was like my dream. We're just good friends now,
I know, and I guessing you guys friendly and co
parenting was just so nice.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
And I'm like, oh, we went on and we went
on a date together, guys, I know.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
And I for the update because I really thought you
literally like trying to make us get back together. Wise,
because I also feel like he's just grown up and
he's just like I really like the man he's become.
You literally like don't even know who he's Okay, from
a couple of times, I saw what the heck, but
I don't know. I just really was rooting for you guys.
I was like, how was that date? He's just a
(27:44):
friend to me. I love you, Reese.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Same.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
This is an interesting story to tell, considering Dammy, he's
actually dating someone else. What annoyed me is like she
didn't say how the date went. It's like, well, what happened?
I mean, it's a bit weird to just go on
this random day with the father of your two children
who you were engaged to, and what it just fizzled out.
I mean, I know he lives in Balley, but surely
that's the thing. Though. It's really difficult because Tammy only
(28:10):
reveals these things on her family members podcasts, but then
the sisters constantly interrupt one another, so you never actually
hear the full story. The thing that is quite telling
is that Emily was the one pushing them to get
back together, and she even seems sort of like giddy
about it. Now. It's quite clear that she thinks that
Tammy should be with a man as opposed to the
(28:30):
current twenty three year old boy that she is with.
What surprised me the most was Tammy revealing where she
met Rey. So I don't know if she'd just been
keeping this in her back pocket or maybe she revealed
it back in the day. But they actually used to
go to school together. He was a year below her,
and it seems like her sisters didn't even know that fact, Like.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
How does that not come up in conversation?
Speaker 1 (28:50):
And also when Emily was going on that she was
really rooting for recent Tammy to get back together, Tammy
was like, but you don't even know him, but surely,
surely when they were together and had two children together,
the sisters would have got to know them a little bit.
Or was that more based on the comment that they
made that Reese has really grown up and that he's
(29:10):
really changed, like maybe they haven't spent a lot of
time with him recently. I mean, I was surprised that
they were so pro Reese when you consider the fact
that he lives in Balley and he doesn't really do
much to help bring those kids up well. His ex
wife London go and seemed to have a recent potshot
at him on Father's Day in America when she shared
a photo with her new boyfriend and basically said, how
(29:32):
what an amazing role model he's been in Stone's life.
It seemed to be a bit, you know, directed at
Reese being not there. Now, getting back to Grayson for
a second, Tammy revealed in this podcast that she met
Grayson in real life, so it seems like they did
meet at one of those influencer events, and Emily started
asking a lot of questions about what it's like dating
(29:54):
when your partner is on social media and also has
a profile. You could tell they don't approve of it,
but they're trying to stay out of it, like the
way they were like, oh do you take his photos?
Speaker 5 (30:05):
And does he take yours?
Speaker 1 (30:06):
And I just loved it because the sisters can get
away with that type of rising, particularly when they had
the microphones in front of them, Like you could tell
that Tammy would probably be like fuck off. Usually yeah,
because Emily really started grilling her and was like, oh,
so do you encourage Grayson to post about your relationship?
And Tammy was like, Oh, it's not really a thing.
We don't talk about it. I mean, clearly the sisters
(30:29):
were referencing those weird over the top tiktoks that they're
sharing about, you know, being the one and in love
and all of that. The whole premise of this episode
was like what's a red flag and a green flag
in relationships? But it was quite funny because Emily and
Amy are both happily married, so all of the questions
were like directed straight at Tammy and I loved how
(30:49):
Emily and Amy were both like, oh, we only really
decipher red flags based off Tammy's past relationships.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Well.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
I said at the start of this segment that she
dropped a lot of bombs and she really did. I mean,
if I was Matt Sakowski, I would have not been
happy listening to this episode because she opened up for
the first time about that infamous Grand Prix messaging scandal,
so to refresh everyone's memories. Quickly following the Glamour on
the Grid's event, which Tammy and Matt attended together, screenshots
(31:17):
of a private conversation between Matt and another woman was
shared on a gossip account, and it appeared that Matt
DMD this woman at three am on the night of
the event, asking if she had a boyfriend, and since then,
Matt has come out and said he was acting as
a wingman for his friend and was asking on his behalf.
He also blamed alcohol, saying he was very intoxicated. Now,
(31:41):
a year on from their separation, Tammy has chosen to
open up about this incident for the first time, and
while she didn't name Matt, she made it crystal clear
that she was of course speaking about him. She said
that she was engaged when this incident took place and
went on to marry the person, and of course she
referenced this much public size incident. So let's take a
(32:02):
listen to some of what she said.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
In my past relationship, there was a lot of trust.
I mean, like there's stuff that came out publicly about
people sliding into people's dms.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Yeah, we held a family in that relationship. That was
a huge thing.
Speaker 7 (32:20):
And to the end, part of the reason why it
ended like it was it was a massive, massive thing.
And honestly, my bad I didn't Like I forgave at
times I shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Have forgiven and things just like you forgive but you
don't it's hard to get by. So like it's not really.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
A full forgiveness because the trust isn't there.
Speaker 7 (32:45):
Yeah, I feel like I could never ever do that
ever again, Like, once that trust is broken, good bye.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
I'm surprised that she's even talking about this, to be honest.
It happens so long ago now, and it just to me,
I feel like they need to stop talking about each other,
Tammy and Matt. It's like it's over, You're with someone new.
It was unfortunate what happened. I mean, we've discussed in
recent times now when our team Matt, so I don't
know how to feel about this. I just think it's
pretty wild that she's blaming this incident for the breakdown
(33:15):
of their marriage. I mean, she's saying that it caused
a lot of trust issues and was the root cause
of their divorce. I think Matt Zakowski would provide some
other reasons, perhaps for their separation, than just this one
off incident. I also think it's interesting that Tammy said
that things like that happened again and again, so she
is trying to paint Matt Zakowski as a cheatera I
(33:38):
really do hope that he comes out on his own
platform and clears this up, because I think it was
a little bit unfair. Yeah, I agree, but I don't
think Matt's going to touch on it because from what
I've heard, I think he's over it. He doesn't want
this to define him anymore. But Tammy keeps going back
to it. Obviously she knows talking about her relationships continues
to get her views, it gets people engaged in her life. Well,
(33:58):
I just think it's a bit fair to say that
this was the cause of the divorce, basically because it
happened before the wedding, so I mean, she could have
called things off now. Tammy's sisters Emily and Amy went
on to reveal that they actually had a family intervention
following the incident, and it sounded like Matt was at
the intervention because at the end, he apparently was very
upset and said, can we all just hug it out?
(34:20):
They also made this comment and it wasn't directed at
Matt Sakowski, but it was clear they were talking about him, saying, oh,
another thing that they think is a red flag. This
was Amy and Emily is when a guy comes around
and you've only met him once or twice and he
starts acting like your brothers and sisters and is really
cocky and confident around the family. I thought that was
interesting because I remember, I think Tammy and Matt had
(34:42):
only been dating for a month or so when they
had that New Year's Eve party at Tammy's house, and
he kept talking about Tammy's house apparently as if it
was his own. Well, I just feel like there were
just potshots going back and forth about him, because Amy
said that she has no sympathy for when someone does
the wrong thing and plays the victim. Feel like they
were sort of referring that he played the victim on
(35:03):
I'm a Celeb. And then Tammy went on to say
that she's since learned that that type of behavior is
someone's characteristic and it's not something that you can fix
in someone. In saying that, I think I would take
her learnings on board a little bit more, taken a
bit more seriously if she wasn't dating who she's currently dating.
Because she was giddy over Realty, She's saying, oh yeah,
(35:26):
like she's like, oh, you know, but he hangs out
with guys that are a lot older and it's not
as weird as it sounds, but and she was saying that,
and she was saying that, you know, she's got so
many cute videos of him on her phone, and she
just is dying to share more about It's like, baby,
you've shared too much already. But also, from what we've
heard about him, it sounds as if he may have
cheated on his last girlfriend to be with Tammy. So
(35:49):
if that's not saying, hey, that is a characteristic of mine,
I don't know what else is. Listening to the interview,
it's very clear that she loves love, like she was
just saying she loves seeing other people's relationship videos and
she's just dying to share more like she clearly gets
caught up in it. Well, they also spoke about love bombing,
and it's like, clearly that's what's happening in this instance.
(36:11):
It's like you've been together for barely any time, and
it's all like this lovey dovey stuff. Like anyway, I
don't think she has learned from her past mistakes. And
to her credit, she said that she feels like people
can talk about her relationship because she openly shares it online.
You know, she's inviting people to speak about it, so
at least she's got a little bit of self awareness there. Well,
on that note, I think that is all we have
