Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, I'm welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
Kate Torba, I'm Sophie Torbah, and I'm Amy Torber. And
coming up on today's show, Sarah's Day's surprising brand deal admission,
Olivia Rodgers's old money Baby name, and Tammy Hembro's photoshop
Stellar cover.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
But first, the influencer world is healing. Shanie Gribbond and
Michael Finch have reunited on TikTok after years of not
posting together. So I feel like we're in twenty seventeen again.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
It really does, and I'm here for the nostalgia.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
So for those who haven't seen this video, it popped
up on TikTok over the weekend and in it, Shannie
and Michael revealed to the camera that they're back together.
They're hanging out. They appeared to be heading out because
they were very nicely dressed. Michael was in a black
shirt and trousers, and the video was posted on what
appears to be Michael.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Finch's secondary account.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I was really confused to begin with us, like, is
this some sort of fan page for Michael Finch because
the username was a ton of random numbers, but it
has fifty thousand followers and only features videos of Michael Finch,
So I'm like, oh, okay, this is definitely his account.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, it makes sense that he's got a burner account
because him reuniting with Shany Grimman. As much as it
has excited millennials, it kind of goes against his cooking
content that he's known for. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, it's kind of off brand for his cooking content,
isn't it. Now.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Michael and Shanny have since reshared the video on their
main TikTok accounts, and at the time of recording, the
video has over five hundred thousand views and seventy eight
thousand likes. There was actually no caption on the video,
but it still managed to capture a lot of people's attention.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Do you know what blows my mind that there would
actually be people out there who follow Michael Finch now
and wouldn't have known a time where he and Shany
are friends, like they are just legitimately following him as
a food creator. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Sure, there's some.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Who would also be surprised to find out that he
was an OG makeup influencer.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Because he really doesn't wear a lot of makeup anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
That's why I love Michael Finch so much. I love
that he has been able to evolve with the times
and continues to reinvent himself and remains popular on the platforms.
In terms of a caption, I don't think the real
needed one. I think it's spoke volumes. It's saying we're back,
We're still friends, and it created a lot of excitement
and buzz. I think there's a lot of people hoping

(02:17):
that this may be the first of many videos of
the pairbacks. I disagree.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I think there should have been a simple caption. It
should have been one letter.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Q Yes, Yeah, Hindy.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I actually found in the deepest, darkest part of my
chest of drawers some old pink and white socks that
were Michael Finch branded. They had Q on it, and
so one foot it said fink and the other one
said que. And I was like, fuck, these are old.
I probably should throw these out, but because I barely
have worn them, they're in the best condition.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Don't throw them out. I reckon you should start wearing them.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I was going to say they're iconic, but apparently that
is a phrase that we throw around too much on
this podcast as well.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Don't worry, Sophie. I wore these with great pride. They
didn't match my shoes whatsoever, but I'm known to rock
an odd socks. I don't really care what the socks
looked like.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I need to now find my cue hat because I
think you gave.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
It to me as a d I forgot they even
had the hats. I feel like he would have made
absolute bank on that, because I remember the socks being
quite expensive at the time. Maybe they were like thirty bucks.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I mean, they might have made a lot off it,
but I think it all got spent on designer items.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
I was quite surprised to see him in a rme's
belt before, because remember, he sold a lot of his
designer gear when he wasn't doing so well in the
Influence of Space. Maybe now that he's changed over to
food content, he's making bank again and thinks, oh, maybe
I can have a few of these designer pieces again.
I just love the hysteria that Michael and Johnie created
over this post. So one follower wrote, this is the

(03:39):
best thing to come out of twenty twenty six already,
and another said and suddenly my show is back from
the dead. Other people were feeling quite nostalgic like us.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Someone wrote, I'm back in high school spamming thank you
Bindy all over again. Because this video was posted on
Michael Finch's secondary account, I was really intrigued to see
if they'd posted about each other on Instagram as well,
and I noticed that Sharanne posted that Michael delivered her
homemade cookies, and Michael also shared an uber selfie from
the night out with Shannie, as well as photos of

(04:10):
a very fancy cocktail that he and Shani shared.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
So, I mean, they're back on, aren't they.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
It's clear that they want everyone to know about it,
So it's got me thinking what does this actually mean?

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Yeah, are they teasing us about a return to YouTube
or will we see them vlogging maybe on TikTok.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I feel like they just got silly and had a
few drinks and thought let's post this online on Michael's
burner account and see how much attention it actually goes.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
So I definitely think that they're testing the water to
see if the demand is there, and there is definitely
a want for them to return. I actually can't believe
it's been almost a decade since their social media heyday,
like it's making me feel old.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Well, Sophie might be onto something because I've noticed Sharnie's
been posting a bit more over the last couple of
months than usual. She was at Australian Fashion Week and
she was sitting front and center with styled by Bloom.
She looked absolutely incredible.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
He styled her on a number of occasions before. I
mean she does still have her swimwear Lion Silk Swim Well.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
She was there last year, but I definitely think her
social media presence has ramped up.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I mean she was also at Coachella.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Did you guys see all those influences side note? Who
got caught in the rain at one of the shows?
It was all over tik tok. They were like, yeah,
tideing their hair, shiny was at that show?

Speaker 1 (05:22):
What about that show that was at Bondai Beach. I
think it was. And there was just a guy who
refused to actually acknowledge there was a fashion show going
on and just went down to the beach to have
his usual I love that, And they were like run
may models walking past him.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
He's just like the same woman who sat on the
beach when Harry and Meghan just walked through, She's like,
I'm not moving my tow.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
It was exactly the same vibe.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Do you know how we have to spare a thought
for with this reunion? Who was probably hitting very hard
is Sky Wheatley because she and Michael of course had
a falling out and recently she's sort of been throwing
out a bit of a bone that she wants to
be friends with him again, she was talking about on
her podcast, but he doesn't seem to want a bar
of it.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Because a lot of people were saying this would have.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Been more iconic if it was Michael Finch and Sky
Wheely popping up that they were friends again, I disagree.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
It was always Shanny and Michael. It always felt like
Sky was trying to be a part of that group,
but always on the hutter. No, but it's because Sky
and Michael legitimately had a falling out, whereas I think
that Shanny and Michael have still been friends in the background.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
They had a.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Falling out years ago. I remember there was a bigger job.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
True. Is it just me or does Sky Wheatly strike
you as that sort of friend who you could probably
see them once every month, but they're so chaotic and
full on that they're quite draining, Like lovely, but you're like,
I need to see this person in small doses. Whereas
Shanny seems like somebody who she's got her own stuff
going on. She seems a bit more chill and you
could just you could see her after months of not

(06:43):
seeing her, but just pick up where you left off.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
I mean, I do get that vibe, but I think
that Sky would be one of those friends who was
really invested and really caring as well. Like she might
be a bit chaotic and probably talk a lot about
her life, but I think it would be really entertaining
it and I think she would have your back. Into
terms of reunions, do you think we'll ever see anything
like we've seen recently for Laguna Beach, how they've got

(07:06):
everyone back after twenty years. Do you think in ten
years time maybe maybe we could hold it.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
I mean, Lily Brown's actually a great idea. Lily Brown
wouldn't attend, but no, because she's blocked us recently, you
guys put a call out to another influencer who happened
to pick up on it. There may have been a
phone call are you guys trying to manifest something else here?

Speaker 3 (07:28):
You trying to reunion?

Speaker 4 (07:29):
I actually think this would be a wild live show
to be a part of. In saying that, though, we
could be seeing a OG influencer reunion in a couple
of weeks because Lily Brown is tying the knot to
Jet Kenny, so it'll be interesting to see which of
her old friends actually get a call up. I'm sure
Lily Brown would be totally open to us doing a

(07:51):
reunion just before her wedding with all of these guests,
because I mean, maybe we could do a bit of
a gift bag. We could have some of the smelly
pajamas in their hand them out. I mean again, I
want to say though, she actually has done great things
with her brand, since I'm not just sucking up so
that she appears at our reunion. But you know, Chili,
it's actually pretty cool brand.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Now it's called Chill so Chills. Sorry, why do I
think it's Chili? Oh my god, god it chili. No,
I see everyone wearing her dressing gowns.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
No, we're to yell at you before, Sophie because you
pronounced hermes hermez and I was like fucking here. We're
going to get littered with negative reviews that you're going
to lose your shit.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
I know what, though, we should clip it up on
TikTok because people go nuts for when you pronounce something wrong,
the post will absolutely I don't.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Know if it's a positive thing though, I feel like
Ragebe You've just rage Baby.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
It's the other brand that we kept pronouncing and Cabana.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Let's not bring that up again.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Say Kabana, but the meaning I don't know. I think
I still pronounce it wrong. I want to put it
out there to outspoken listeners. Can you tell us who
you would want us to interview on this type of
reunion show? Because I actually think we need to make
a happen.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Oh my gosh, we should get Chris Fox. She was
besties with Michael Finch and she does a lot of
makeup stuff. She's from New Zealand. And remember there was
some ad where someone dubbed all of their catch phrases over.
I think it was for like, hey Google Alexa. Yeah,
it was like hey Alexa, It's like I got a
deck in my mouth up like it was fucking yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:12):
Because they would always order an eggs Benedict and be
like eggs Benedict in my mouth's.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Michael Finch, please go back to blogging, please, Dad?

Speaker 1 (09:24):
How do you for cantalo, cantalog T and d A and.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Fucking alexa?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
How do you spell candalog?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
I am a fuck fucking cunt ship bitch bitch.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
As dick hey exhole the Gaina cunt slap motherfucker.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
After more than a week on baby Watch, Olivia Rodgers
has announced the arrival of her baby boy, and just
as predicted, his name is giving old money vibes.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Oh it really is so.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Olivia made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a close up
video of her baby boy's face and writing, our boy,
Albert Nigel Braky is here with a blue love heart emoji.
Before we get into the name, I want to say
I was actually quite surprised by this announcement post because
I wanted to see a photo of Olivia and Hugo

(10:18):
with the baby.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Usually influencers are in the photos.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Well. She later shared a photo of her and Hugo
holding Albert on her Instagram story, but I was surprised
that wasn't the main photo. It was also interesting that
she actually chose to share Albert's face because previously she's
spoken about the fact that she wasn't sure what she
was going to do. There seems to be a bit
of a trend at the moment of influencers being happy
to share the newborn's faces but then stopping showing them

(10:44):
at a round i't know, three to six months old.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Well, they do change so much. I mean, looking back
at photos of my son when he was a baby,
he looks nothing like he does one year.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
That being said, Albert looks a dead ringer for his dad,
so I don't know how much he's.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Going to change. It's quite interesting you bring.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
That up, though, Okay, because over the weekend, Laura Henshaw
and her baby Atlas were on the front cover of
the Sunday Life magazine and literally the baby's face was
everywhere because she has chosen to share it. But then
part of the story was her saying, I'm not going
to show his face anymore, like after this marketing campaign,
I'm not going to show any more Like. I understand

(11:22):
that her intentions are good, but from an outside perspective
for someone who is maybe critiquing the situation, it kind
of looks like, oh, okay, I've got some pr opportunities
out of his face being readily available, But now that
I'm probably going to go back to work, I'm not going.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
To be showing his face and bringing him around it.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
The Boomers were having a field day on the comments section.
They're like, wait a sec, why is the kids face
in this magazine article.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
I think there was a bit of rage baiting going
on from Sunday Life because they literally juxtapositioned that quote
next to a picture of Laura and Atlas, which obviously
created a lot of the commentary. I very much support
influencers changing their minds. I think you only know what's
right for you once you have a baby and then
when they get older. Because for me, I showed photos

(12:08):
of my son up until he was a year old,
and then after that it just didn't feel right, like
I was thinking, well, who am I posting these photos for?
And I think when you start overthinking it and it
starts to make you feel uncomfortable, you have every right
to say, oh, okay, well I'm going to choose not
to do this anymore, do you know what?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
Shit Though, it's not like anyone ever attacks the father
for sharing the photo, like I've never heard a dad
who's an influencer be like, oh, well, they've chosen to
share his face. It seems to be a very gendered
thing that we seem quite judgmental of women who choose.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
To do it.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I think it was just the juxtaposition of saying I'm
not sharing his face and then there was a huge
photo of his face.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
I think that that's why it looks stupid.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
Anyway, getting back to Olivia Rodgers's baby name, it had
very royal vibes, didn't it.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
I mean, I assume that he's.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
Not going to be referred to as Albert, is actually
going to be Birdie, which I love that side that
is our parents' cats.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
When I saw I thought that he's going to be
known as Albie. That's what I met Bertie. Well either
or I think both are really cute.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
That's what surprised me though, because normally, if the child
is going to be known as a nickname, you would
normally see the parents write Albert and then like in
quotation marks Albie or Bertie, Nigel breaky Like I'm surprised
that it hasn't been referenced that they're using a nickname.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
I think it's so refreshing to see an influencer actually
give their baby a traditional name.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Is that the new trend? Because Brooke Hogan recently named
her son Jack, which I was cheering for because that's
my son's name. I think that might have been inspired
by Justin Bieber's Jack hallelujahs.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
To tell Kate the other day that that was actually
in Justin's Hallelujah song. She's like, wait, are you taking
the piece?

Speaker 1 (13:46):
I'm like, no, who haven't you seen it all over TikTok.
I've seen everyone's take on it, but you just kept
taking the pisce on it.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
That's why I thought.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
I was like, I was Actually I actually didn't know
that because I haven't listened to He's so cute now.
At the start of the year, we did an Influence
of Prediction episode and you guys were correct. The middle
name is Nigel, which was Hugo's dad's name. He sadly
passed away when Hugo was at high school. I think
this is a really beautiful touch. You also got pretty
close with the first name, saying they'd be old money vibes.

(14:12):
We didn't quite get it right. Let's throw it to
what your predictions were.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
I'm guessing something in the realm of Rupert Monty even
maybe a family name. So Hugo's father sadly passed away
when he was in year twelve, so'myually not sure what
his dad's name is, but maybe his dad's name could
be the middle name. I even think Jack could be
in there, which is a family name of Olivia's cousin
who very sadly passed away as well.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I had the name Montgomery down on my list, Monty
for short, because, as you said, she gives an old
money vibe. Her niece and nephew are called Winnie and Walter,
so I could see Monty fitting in quite well there.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Maybe Olivia heard this and she did have Monty on
the list, but I was like, fuck, I don't want
them to get the full name, right.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
I mean, we were definitely on the theme. It's quite
funny because I've owned you just discovered that Hugo's brother's
name is Rupert some' thinking, God, we really were on
it there.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
We had a couple of listeners sliding into our DM saying,
oh my god, do you reckon she's giving birth today?

Speaker 3 (15:12):
When is it happening?

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Because she put up a TikTok where she was painting
some bookshelves for her nursery, saying that she was thirty
nine weeks pregnant and she can't believe she's about to
meet her son.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
So that caused a bit of a stir.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
This week, she also put out a podcast where she
interviewed her partner, Hugo, and he was really honest in
this chat. He spoke about how shocked he was for
about a week after he found out the baby news
because it did come as a surprise, and he seems
to really rattled by the news in saying that he
seems to have been incredibly supportive. He's been reading all

(15:46):
of the baby books, so it's going to be really
beautiful to see how they.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Do in the trenches in the first couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Well, I'm very interested to see if they lean towards
Albie or Bertie.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
What do you think? I like Bertie. Bertie is such
a cute name. I just can't wait to disert. I
was to say, I can't wait to see more content,
but we are actually blocked by a Liviy Rodgers for
so shout out for those who have and us the
baby announcement. So we can have a bit of a
bit of a squiz, but yeah, wishing them all the best.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
It's beautiful news.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
I'm not calculated, I'm conscious.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Sarah's Day has revealed she turns down ninety nine point
nine percent of brand deals, choosing instead to focus on
releasing her own products. The og YouTuber confessed building her
own personal brand has been key to her longevity in
the industry. So Sarah made the admission on UK influencer
Grace Beverly's podcast. She has recently been getting the scoop

(16:38):
with Ossie influencers.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yeah because back.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
In April she was in Australia interviewing a ton of
local influences as part of a mini series she was
putting together. So far, she's dropped episodes with Kayla, Itsinas,
Zara and Michelle from Shameless and now Sarah's.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Day, some pretty epic talent from Australia. I'd love to
see her analytics and see how many more Aussie listeners
she's been getting because I've been tuning in. This is
a podcast I've never listened to before.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
I bet they had to make sure that they weren't
interviewing the Shameless team and then Sarah's Day back to back,
because obviously they became really popular when they did a
segment on sort of calling out Sarah's Day for spreading
medical misinformation, and I think that Sarah was one of
the first influencers to block them, and they seemed a
bit rattled by that.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I couldn't actually imagine those three women talking. I wonder
if Shameless could ever get Sarah's Day on their podcast.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
I feel like they go on a bit of an
apology tool with people, so you know, they could potentially
talk her into going on the show.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
They have mass appeal. It wouldn't be completely off the cards.
I don't think.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah. I mean, recently we've seen Shameless and Mum and
mea reconcile over being interviewed on each other's podcast, so potentially,
I mean, I'd be very interested in that episode. Now. Anyway,
back to Grace Beverly's interview with Sarah, the episode was
called breaking Free from Toxic fitness Culture and Building a
Routine That Works. A bit awkward that that was the

(18:01):
title because I feel like that is the direction that
Grace Beverly wanted to go in with the podcast because
she has really pushed away from that toxic diet culture herself,
whereas I don't really think that Sarah's day is in
that place yet, And that sort of came through in
the interview. I think Sarah's day thinks that she's in
that place, because she referenced, oh, I eat bread now

(18:21):
and I sometimes have lollies. But you can see that
the diet culture really still does control her.

Speaker 6 (18:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
I mean, she did touch on how she has this
new relationship with the gym and how her body's changed
since motherhood, but yeah, you can tell me.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
She was talking.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
About her new workout guide, which has been slammed for
being quite problematic. What I did find most fascinating though
about this chat with Grace was her approach to the
influencer space. So she admitted that she actually doesn't follow
any other vloggers. She definitely wouldn't be listening to Outspoken
if that's the case, and she said that the content
she consumes is very different to the content that she

(18:59):
creates her She also revealed that when it comes to
brand opportunities, she says no to almost everything, and that
is partly to do with the season of life that
she's found herself in with young kids, but also it
is a strategy of hers. Let's take a listen to
what she said.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
I guess going back to your previous question of what
are potentially influencers doing wrong or how can they ensure
that they have longevity in this career. Don't get too
excited by the short wins, like the collaborations, because that
is not going to that's not going to build your brand.
If anything, it might detract because people hate to see
sponsored stuff.

Speaker 5 (19:35):
A lot of my energy right now is in building
my own products.

Speaker 6 (19:38):
Yeah, I'm very, very, very conscious and decisive with collaborations,
and my collaborations they're they're long lasting ones for like
five years, like yeah Kiweko. It's like a subscription brand
that's like for kids once Upon, which is like family
photo albums I say no to I would say nineteen
nine point nine nine nine percent of collaborations I say

(19:59):
no to unless and I'm genuinely using the product they
slided into my emails.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
I'm like, oh, I'm actually using you.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
Yeah, so that's fine. But in terms of my time,
I'd rather build.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
And I'm working on my second cookbook I Love five
sixty and the Pregnancy Workout Guide.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
So it's a lot of my time if I'm not.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
With my kids. I like building, yeah, and I just
want to do collaborations, yeah, don't like fill my soul.
I think Sarah is in a pretty unique position as
an influencer because she's been in the industry for over
ten years. Okay, she might not have as many people
buying her products as she did back in her heyday
in the early twenty tens, but she definitely manages to

(20:36):
shift a lot of product. We saw that with the
three sixty Challenge. I think around two thousand or three
thousand people bought her guide, and that equated into a
massive cash injection for her. I think we predicted at
the time it would have been about three hundred or
four hundred thousand dollars made. So you can see why
she's doing that.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
I actually think it's pretty good advice.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I mean, I don't necessarily think that every influencer out
there start up their own brand, but I do think
a lot of influencers need to be more strategic when
it comes to brands that they choose to align with.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
I think there is a lot of.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Power in saying no, because you instantly lose trust in
an influencer. Well, you can tell that they're just chasing
the cash and they align with a product that they
clearly would never use.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
I totally get that. I think that you have to
be savvy about the brand deals that you take on
and then also put effort into creating content that doesn't
just feel like an ad. But recently we've seen this
influx of influencer brands shutting down. They're not making as
much money as they used to. We touched on Lillie
Brown earlier in this episode, but she's been very vocal

(21:39):
about the fact that she found doing influencer brand deals
a lot easier than having her own business. So I
think you have to be firstly in the top echelon
of influencers that have a big enough impact that people
actually want to buy what they're selling, and then you
also have to be very business minded like brit Saunders,
like Sammy Robinson and actually brewed a brand that stands alone.

(22:01):
I think she was trying to point out that people
don't want to be constantly sold to in such an
avert way, and you're never going to be successful as
an influencer if you're purely doing that, Because a lot
of influencers fall into a trap where you only see
them on Instagram if they are spooking something. Whereas with Sarah,
because she back in the day was so big on YouTube,

(22:21):
I mean, she put out a lot of content, three
videos a week.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
She was really giving.

Speaker 4 (22:26):
You an insight into her life with ads cleverly weave.
Throughout that being said, she is an influencer who doesn't
often declare ads, which sometimes gets her into hot water.
I think back in the day, she was a master
of putting ads in a video without people realizing they
were ads. I mean, brands like Tripeka were synonymous with

(22:48):
Sarah's Day, Like you would have thought Sarah's Day had
shares in Tripeka.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
She probably did.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
I mean, I think she's also probably saying to influencers,
don't necessarily just slap your name on any old product,
but maybe you should be strategic about where you're putting
your money, so maybe invest in some products behind the scenes,
similar to what she's doing with Hiro.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
I mean, there are a lot of.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
Young influencers who I currently watch and I keep thinking,
I really hope that you're investing some of that money
into property or somewhere else, because people aren't always going
to be interested in you, particularly when the market is
so oversaturated.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
It was funny because despite saying she's not a big
fan of paid collaborations, she joked that this is her
year of saying yes and joke that people can send
opportunities her way.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
I mean, she said, as long as she uses the product,
she doesn't have a problem promoting them.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
It is interesting though, because over the last couple of years,
she has cut ties with a lot of brands that
she has worked a long time with, like White Fox, Boutique, Tripeka,
and I think she was in a stage of trying
to get new brands in. But I think once she
hits that quota of having a handful of brands, that's
when she starts turning brands.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
It was away, definitely. She was really reflective in this
interview as well. It was quite interesting to listen to
Grace asked if she trusts her instincts now more than
she did earlier in her career.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Let's take a listen to what she said.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
I think I'm just a lot more mature, and I
think back in the day, I wouldn't consider repercussions or consequences,
and I didn't have little people looking up at me,
my kids, and so I would share everything.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
I didn't care.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
I was like, I.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Would share everything about myself, my medical history, everything going on.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
So I think I'm just a lot more conscious now
that my actions don't just affect me, but they affect
my children, their schooling, their friends, their teachers. I'm so
aware that a lot of people in our inner circle
are watching us.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
So I'm not calculated, I'm conscious.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
It's interesting because I find that Sarah's day always manages
to skirt around taking accountability for her past actions. I
think this is her way of touching on that medical
missinc drama without actually acknowledging it or taking accountability for it. Such.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Yeah, I mean, if that is genuinely how she feels,
I think could be a good move for her to
remove some of those videos that she now sees are
potentially damaging. That being said, I think that when you
do become a mother, you do have a complete change
in the way that you think. I mean, it's good
that she is now thinking about how her videos and
her content are going to affect her children. It definitely

(25:27):
made it sound like her YouTube channel has been a
topic of conversation amongst the mums at the school.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
I mean, this is probably pretty obvious considering the podcast
that we have, but if my son went to school
with a child whose mum was an influencer, I'd definitely
be tuning into their content to see what they were
up to, and if they mentioned the school or the teachers,
I'd be like, Oh, what did they say this week?

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Tammy Hembro set tongues wagging after appearing on the cover
of Stella magazine. The mega influencer opened up about her
high profile hookup with Bailey Smith and the double standards
facing women, Yet the focus online quickly turned to Tammy's face.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
I mean, for those who haven't seen the cover photo,
Tammy's face has been incredibly smoothed out. It has been
photoshop within an inch of its life. Like I literally
couldn't see some of her facial features because they were
so smoothed out. I don't like people commenting on other
people's appearance, but in this case, it actually did take
me a while to realize it was Tammy Hember. I

(26:27):
just want to demonstrate how much editing went into this photo.
I mean, she's an incredibly attractive woman. She definitely did
not need this level of editing. It was just ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
What made things more awkward was alongside these photos, Stella
also shared a video of Tammy's podcast interview with them,
and they had footage from the photo shoot that was
used as overlay, and in the vision, Tammy looked noticeably
different and that is what a lot of people were
saying in the comment section.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Absolutely erupted.

Speaker 4 (26:56):
One user wrote, looks completely different in the video of
these shots. Stop over editing women. Another said, love an
airbrush photo that doesn't even look like you, but well done.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
I found the commentary really interesting because it was only
at the start of this year that there was similar
backlash when Tinder launched their ads featuring Tammy Hembro and
Bailey Smith, and a lot of people were saying, oh
my god, Tammy Hembro looks so different in this vision
compared to the photos that she posts, and a lot
of people were saying how heavily she photoshops stuff. And

(27:28):
now the commentary is, oh my god, it's photoshopped, even
next level to the stuff that you post yourself. I mean,
at the time, we came to the conclusion that we
thought that the Tinder ads people had done Tammy dirty
because the lighting was absolutely atrocious, and as a videographer,
I want to point out it was similar lighting in
the Stellar interview, who was using this pinky purple tone.

(27:50):
It didn't look flattering for Tammy or for the host. Look.
I definitely think there was an element of bad lighting.
But what I think has become apparent is Tammy Hembro
really likes to control how her images go out on
her own platform, and I wonder how much say she
had in the airbrushing of that image that went out
with Stella Magazine, Like was it in her contract that
she had to approve the image before it went out,

(28:11):
because it did really look different to the filming of
her behind the scenes.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Now, okay, in terms of this interview, it was a
bit disappointing because Tommy really didn't say anything new. She
touched on some of the stuff to do with Bailey Smith,
and I'm assuming that Stella wanted to drop his name
in this interview to make it, I suppose more relevant
to their wider audience.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, they were trying really hard to get some good
sound bites to share on social media, but we've heard everything.
I mean a lot of what she said. She'd already
discussed months ago on Jade Tunci and Lockie Bricky's podcast.
She also touched on the criticism that she receives when
she goes on brand trips again. She already spoke about
that on her TikTok. It has been a big week
for her pr wise in terms of mainstream media because

(28:53):
she's been appearing at Australian Fashion Week and it was
this week that she decided to hard launch her new boyfriend,
Grace tim Mowana on her Instagram account. So she's appeared
at quite a number of public events with him, but
it's the first time she's actually shared a photo of
him to a sixteen million followers where he's in full sight.
Like there's been a little bit of soft launching here,
but this was really a hard launch.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Do know how many the photo was he gained off
the back of.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
His Oh hardly any Like, no one is wanting to
follow this guy now. The photo in question was taken
of the couple before their appearance at Carla's and Patty's
show at Australian Fashion Week. We need to talk about
their outfits because they were matching. So Tammy was wearing
a sheer skirt that showed off a black g string
underneath and had a black corse at top, while Grayson

(29:37):
was wearing a matching sheer top with oversized black tracksuit pants.
It kind of reminded me of when Olivia Rodgers and
Morgan at Waterhouse were dating and they wore that couple's
outfit to Australian Fashion where it had that really cringey vibe.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Yeah, it was kind of like, hey, look at us.
I mean, I know that is Australian Fashion Week, but
I was like, oh my god, I really felt for
Grayson's ex girlfriend's.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
The whole vibe of the couple though. I mean when
Tammy posted this photo, Grayson commented underneath Soulmate, I mean,
come on.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Like rebound.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
