(00:00):
Hi everyone, hope all is well.

(00:03):
Just wanted to give you an update on what's been going on with me academically.
So I can't believe it's been three and a half years that I originally became an RN.
So just to kind of give you a little backstory, I graduated in 2021 in May at the height of

(00:23):
the COVID season with my associate degree in nursing at my ADN from a paramedic to RN
Bridge.
From there, the only other education I had was I had an associate's degree from emergency
medical science.
So I pretty much knew that I wanted to become an advanced practice RN.

(00:45):
I just didn't know which advanced practice RN I wanted to become.
I just know I didn't want to be a provider after a while.
So I started taking my gen ed classes and those gen ed classes, I went right straight
to college and I started taking maybe two classes at a time.

(01:08):
Some classes I took one, but I really wanted to focus on my grade because I didn't really
know how competitive it would be to get into school to be an advanced practice RN.
So I just slowed down and concentrated on my grades and I came out and pretty much made
majority all A's.

(01:30):
So I graduated this, it was this past May, May 2024 with a BSN, graduated summa cum laude
and with a 3.92 GPA from East Carolina University.
So I immediately applied for grad school and I got into the clinical nurse specialist program

(01:57):
and that's where I'm currently.
I just finished my first semester of grad school and I'll tell you, grad school is
a different level, let me tell you.
I wrote one paper, I think my thesis, I had a nurse theory class and just part two of
that one paper was 12 pages long, so it's a grinder.

(02:21):
And I'm currently working full time as an inpatient case manager and going to school
full time.
So as of today, I'm on break and jeez, because I need it, but I plan on going all the way
through full time.
And once I get my masters, I plan on pursuing my doctorate.

(02:45):
One of my life goals is just to hear my name being called with doctor in front of it, because
many of you guys don't know in high school, I really didn't think I was that smart.
I didn't think I was smart enough for college.
And so earning my doctorate is a life goal for myself, but it's a gift to myself and

(03:10):
it's proof to myself to that negative part of my thinking that I can do it and that I'm
worthy.
So just wanted to share that with you, but thanks for joining me guys and I'll keep
you updated and thanks for tuning in to my podcast as well.
Bye bye.
