A storm with a name is bearing down on the Ohio Valley and mid-south, and that changed everything. We hit record to get a clear, direct update out fast: Winter Blitz moves to Saturday, February 28, 2026. Same venue, same plan, just smarter timing so no one risks a long drive on icy roads. Consider it a bonus window to finish your build, refine that finish, or finally try the stencil set that’s been staring at you from the bench.

We walk through how the decision came together and why venue relationships matter. A flexible museum partner meant the organizers could pivot without losing momentum, vendors, or goodwill. Along the way, we open our Model Show Spotlight calendar and invite clubs with February, March, or April dates to pitch their events. Tell us your categories, your surprises, and the small details that make your show easy to love. When information is clear and personal, more modelers show up, and the scene grows stronger.

Community recognition fuels the hobby, so we update our lighthearted “agent” roster to thank the folks who keep this thing moving—from the Indy connector who solved the famous patty run, to the straight-shooting blogger who pressure-tests our ideas, to the Winter Blitz leader who keeps raising the bar. We also tease an ambitious 1/32 SBD Dauntless build headed to the dojo, loaded with aftermarket and stencil work that will spark questions and copycat courage.

If the storm keeps you home, cue the kettle, sharpen a blade, and make progress while the snow stacks up. Then spread the word so no one makes a wasted trip: Winter Blitz is February 28, 2026. If you enjoy these updates and the community love, tap follow, share this with a friend who needs it, and leave a quick review—what are you building before the new date?

Mike (00:12):
All right, Kentucky Dave.
We got a hot take tonight.

Kentucky Dave (00:15):
Yes, we've got a special, special announcement.

Mike (00:18):
Yep, a public service announcement for our buddy
Brandon Jacob at Winter Blitz.
If folks are unaware, particularly on the West Coast,
could probably care less, Dave.
Right.
But if you're in the Ohio Valleyall the way down through the
mid-south, Snow Mageddon'scoming, apparently.
Yep.

Kentucky Dave (00:35):
The weather channel has named the storm.

Mike (00:38):
So that's how you know it's a big one.
Is it Winter Blitz?

Kentucky Dave (00:42):
No, it's not Winter Blitz.

Mike (00:45):
Well, Dave, to borrow a line from the Andy Griffith
show.
Yep.
I don't know what you had fordinner, but I know what Brandon
Jacob's having for dinner.

Kentucky Dave (00:53):
Which is Crow.
Yep.
Poor guy.

Mike (01:00):
Poor guy came on when in our in our pregame warm up.
He said, I want to make sure Imention the weather and how it's
not going to stop this thing.
Well, best laid plans of miceand man, Dave.
Yep.
Winter Blitz has been postponedfrom the end of January to the
end of February.
Saturday, February 28th is thenew date, 2026.

(01:24):
Location is the same.
Everything else is the same.
It's all on the website, whichis www.winterhyphen Blitz.com.
And just want folks to know, wewant to give Brandon a little
help here because he's beensending out an email came out,
but the email list was not, I'msure it was not all inclusive.

Kentucky Dave (01:44):
Yeah.
Well, if he hasn't posted it onthe dojo, I'll post it on the
dojo as well.

Mike (01:49):
So if if this gets to one person, that's the only way to
hear about it, and they they'respared a trip to something
that's not happening, or runningtheir car off in a ditch because
of the snow trying to get there.

Kentucky Dave (01:58):
Yeah.

Mike (01:58):
It will have been worth the few minutes we're going to
take to do this.

Kentucky Dave (02:02):
Well, and all teasing aside with Brandon, I
mean, the the way they'retalking about this storm, it
really does look like it's goingto be a significant event.
And discretion is a better partof valor in a situation like
that.

Mike (02:20):
Thankful on his for him or his sake that the they had a
museum situation where theycould pivot and not have to
worry about some other personrenting this place on that date.
So they could they could movethe show on a dime.
So that's a great position to bein.

Kentucky Dave (02:35):
It is.
That's another another thingthat makes the their their show
and that facility so good.

Mike (02:43):
So folks, please take notice.
Winter Blitz has moved from ormoved to Saturday, February
28th.
So you got a few more weeks tofinish those builds, if nothing
else.

Kentucky Dave (02:54):
That's right.

Mike (02:55):
Well, this is an up-and-coming show still.
He's a few years into it, but uhit seems to keep getting better
and better.
And and uh this is one we loveto support.
So when he sent that email, Iknew we needed to do this.
Yep.
Well, this may or may not be,Dave, the uh the model show
spotlight for for January, forthe February shows.
I guess I guess it is forFebruary show now.

(03:18):
Well, yeah.
We'll see.
Well, to be determined.
We'll see.
We got some irons in the fire.
I don't know, Dave.
I don't know if it was theholidays or what, but we've had
a little trouble getting thegetting the cattle wrestled for
uh for January, February.
But uh, clubs, if you're outthere listening, going forward
for February, March, and April,we already have one of our

(03:39):
typical two spots filled forthose months.
So if you would think you wouldwant to have your show featured
on the model show Spotlight inan upcoming month on Plastic
Model Mojo, please reach out andlet me know.
We'll probably reach out to afew that we find interesting,
but we always like to have themcome back directly from the
clubs who who know we're doingthis and uh want to be featured.
So please step up and let usknow.

Kentucky Dave (04:02):
Yes, please do it.
We love doing this.
We are, as you know fromlistening to the podcast, Mike
and I are really committed toparticularly the local contests
and the value of the localcontest.

Mike (04:18):
Local shows, Dave.
We gotta get your vernacular.

Kentucky Dave (04:20):
I'm sorry, local shows.
You're right.
That is the better phrasing.

Mike (04:45):
Well, Dave, while we got folks' attention, we mentioned
Brandon Jacoby and Mo JovianSpecial Agent 003.
We want to kind of do a littlehousekeeping on our
recognitions.

Kentucky Dave (04:56):
We we've needed to do this for some time, and it
just works out that this that wehave the ability to do this
here.

Mike (05:04):
So, you know, some folks out there may think this is a
little corny.
We think it's fun, so we'regonna do it.
It's our show.
So if you don't like it, you cando it.
Not do it on your podcast.
Right.
We kind of started this on alark back when we first started
the show.
We first it's our second trip toIndy.
Yes, is what it was.
So we in the theme of JamesBond, we started these uh double

(05:27):
knot special agents for uhMojovia, our kind of fictitious
uh nation of listeners.
Well, the nation of listeners isreal, but the name is not.
So in that regard, Agent DoubleDouble Double O one is Michael
Radsky from the Indy Club.

Kentucky Dave (05:43):
Yes, who hooks us up with our Jamaican meat
patties.

Mike (05:47):
That's right.
He was the one who answered thecall that we needed some
Jamaican meat patties frompatties of Jamaica in
Indianapolis because uh thosecats aren't open on the
weekends, which is kind of Iknow, which is bizarre.
Hey, if you sell enough, youdon't have to work on Saturday.

Kentucky Dave (06:03):
That's true, and and I see why they sell so many.

Mike (06:07):
So, Michael, thank you for that.
And actually the Indy show.
I don't know if he's gonna bethe spokesman, but he reached
out on behalf of the indie show,so they're gonna be a model show
spotlight coming up.
I don't think we've ever doneindie, Dave.

Kentucky Dave (06:19):
I don't think we have as a model show spotlight.
I mean, we've gone to it.
We've uh Well, we've gone today.

Mike (06:25):
They've moved their date a little close to HeritageCon for
us.

Kentucky Dave (06:28):
Yes, I know.

Mike (06:29):
Uh unfortunately, we'd like to go both.
We'll we'll get back at somepoint.

Kentucky Dave (06:32):
Yes, we will.

Mike (06:33):
We look forward to having them on to talk about that show
because it's you know, for anearly in the year, well, not
anymore.
It's in March.
It's a good one to go to.

Kentucky Dave (06:41):
It is indeed.

Mike (06:42):
The facility's pretty good, the vendors are good,
usually pretty good crowds.
So we'll talk about that more atthe model show spotlight for
whichever month's coming up.
I guess that'll be February.
Yeah.
Well, Agent Double O two is Mr.
Stephen Lee to hosts the uhSprue Pie with Fretz blog.
And we always pitch that in ourin our pitch segment every

(07:04):
episode.
And I just want to thank Stevenfor going on.
I you know, this reminds me,Dave.
I mean I said in in the last oneof the last episodes that this
was our sixth year of doing thispodcast.
That's not true.
We've done it, we we've done itfor six years.
Six years.

Kentucky Dave (07:22):
This is technically our seventh year.
Yes.

Mike (07:24):
Well, for seven years, seven, six years and change,
going on seven years.
Stephen Lee has been a stalwartlistener of the show, supporter
of the show, and a good soundingboard for ideas, opinions.
We've always appreciated hiscandor and questions we've asked
him about things going on in thehobby, what he thinks about our
podcast ideas, et cetera.

(07:45):
And just want to recognizeSteven one more time for uh for
doing that for us.
It's always great to have a aperson who's like not affiliated
directly with the show to beable to bounce stuff off of
because he's gonna give us ahe's gonna give us a straight
opinion, whether he likes it ornot.
Well, he likes giving theopinion, I'm sure, but whether
it's a positive or negativeresponse to what we're

(08:06):
suggesting, he's gonna give us astraight answer, and we really
appreciate that.

Kentucky Dave (08:09):
We do, and it's always a great time when we run
into him either at a show or hewas actually in Louisville last
year, and we got to take him toour local hobby shop, and we got
to we got to have a nice, nicelittle dinner together.
So it's always a great time whenyou run into Steven.

Mike (08:28):
We mentioned already Agent 003 is Brandon Jacob, the host
of well, one of the principalguys for Winter Blitz, one of
the founding idea makers forthis show.
Yep, and world traveler.
World traveler.

Kentucky Dave (08:42):
The man has hiked more places than uh uh you and I
have ever gone.

Mike (08:47):
Ever driven you.

Kentucky Dave (08:48):
Yeah.

Mike (08:50):
And is married to a apparently a wonderful woman who
likes to do it too.
So that's gotta be great.
Yep.
Well, Brandon came to us notbecause of winter blitz, but
well, I think we got to know himthe first time he wanted to
pitch this thing.

Kentucky Dave (09:04):
Yes, we did, but he the original impetus was San
Marcos, and he was uh he was ourlocal uh information guy for
places to eat, things to do,just all of the things around

(09:24):
the show in San Marcos.
And you and I have always saidthat when you go to a national,
if you just stay at the show andyou don't go out and experience
the local, the the localrestaurants, the local flavor of
the place, you're really missinga lot.

Mike (09:44):
You are.
So I'm looking forward to FortWayne because we're gonna take
in some minor league baseball.

Kentucky Dave (09:50):
Yes.

Mike (09:50):
Unless it rains.
We might still might if we canget some covered seats.
I don't know.

Kentucky Dave (09:55):
Yeah.

Mike (09:55):
But but you know, there's we got a whole new downtown area
to figure out and find the coolspots, and just really, really
looking forward to it.
Me too.
I wonder if we need a man on theground for uh Fort Wayne.

Kentucky Dave (10:06):
Yeah, we got do we have a listener in Fort
Wayne?
If you are, reach out to us.
We'd we'd like a local to giveus the lay of the land.
Well, that's the agents up tilltonight.

Mike (10:20):
And we've got a couple more we want to recognize
tonight.
We're a little delinquent onthis.
We've had a lot going on, Dave.

Kentucky Dave (10:27):
I know we have.
Well, you your whole last yearwas filled, I mean, non-modeling
related.

Mike (10:35):
So a zoo.
It was.
It was a zoo.
Mad Parade is what I like tocall it.
The Mad Parade.
Agent 004, Dave.
Mr.
Bob Bear in Charlotte, NorthCarolina.

Kentucky Dave (10:48):
But we have been terribly remiss in not getting
this out there because Bob hasbeen a friend, a big supporter
of the show.
He's done a lot of stuff for us.
He's recorded the many of theads and and stuff like that.

(11:08):
But in addition to that, Bob'sjust been a great friend.
He's constantly reaching out tous saying, Hey, heard this, or
giving us feedback, or alsosaying, you know, is there
something I can do to help?
And we really, really appreciatethat.

Mike (11:26):
In fact, he sent an email not too long ago saying he was
at our beck and call for thecoming year.
So, Bob, enjoy your 004 statusand all that it brings you.

Kentucky Dave (11:38):
Yeah, that's right.
Don't don't spend the monetaryaward all in one place.

Mike (11:44):
Yeah, that's a lot of gumballs.

Kentucky Dave (11:47):
Right.

Mike (11:48):
And thank you for all you've done for Plastic Model
Mojo.
Double O five, Dave.
Yep.
Mr.
Ed Bareth out in LA.
Who we are happy to hear isfeeling better.
He is.
He's had some medical challengesover 2025 and seems to be
getting the upper hand on that.
So we're we're we're verythankful for that, Ed.

(12:10):
We wish you wish you the best.

Kentucky Dave (12:12):
We met Ed in Las Vegas.
We did.
In 2021.
And man, that turned out to beserendipitous for us.
I mean, you could tell from themoment we met him and started
talk talking with him that herewas a guy who A had a lot of
knowledge, B, had a lot ofpassion, and C was willing to

(12:39):
share with anybody anything hehad information or an insight
on.

Mike (12:45):
That's right.
And he's also a musician, Dave.
Yes, he is.
Which is why he's getting hisdouble O status as 005, because
Ed has provided our bass riftbump music for plastic model
mojo, and he doesn't know ityet.
I'm about to hit him up for somefresh ones because uh we might
need some new ones, Dave.

Kentucky Dave (13:03):
Yeah, we're doing a little revamping in 2026.

Mike (13:07):
In addition to that, Ed is just about to kick off a build
of the of a 132nd scale SBDDauntless.

Kentucky Dave (13:14):
Oh.

Mike (13:15):
And folks are gonna get to enjoy that on the plastic model
dojo.

Kentucky Dave (13:19):
Yep.

Mike (13:19):
It's gonna be a great build with, well, in a big scale
with a lot of aftermarket, andhe's gonna be using the one in
Man Army stencils on that.
He's looking forward to it, andand so am I.

Kentucky Dave (13:29):
Given what he did with that 48 scale Kingfisher,
yeah.
I have zero doubt that thisDauntless is gonna kick butt.

Mike (13:40):
Well, he had a 30-second scale Kingfisher.

Kentucky Dave (13:42):
That's what I meant.
30 seconds, sorry.
30 second scale.
The one we saw in Vegas thatended up ended up being the
impetus for us to search himout.

Mike (13:56):
All right.
Well, Dave, that has got uscaught up.

Kentucky Dave (13:58):
Okay.
And maybe we got one pending?

Mike (14:02):
We have 006 pending, and I'm gonna sit on that one till
our next feature episode, Dave.
So folks, that sounds good.
If you if you give a crap aboutany of this or just curious, we
hope you listen to the episodeanyway.

Kentucky Dave (14:15):
Yeah.

Mike (14:15):
But Agent 006 will be announced shortly, and man, the
coveted one, 007 is gonna be outthere for grabs.
We'll be up for grabs.
Hope we get some help fromsomebody that's uh gonna earn
them that title.
So we appreciate it.

(14:38):
Well, Dave, you better hunkerdown for uh Snow Mageddon 2026.

Kentucky Dave (14:42):
I was gonna say, as soon as we're finished
recording this, I'm running outto the grocery store to get
bread, milk, and eggs, man.

Mike (14:49):
Gotta be prepared for French toast.
I always wonder why syrup isn'ton that list.

Kentucky Dave (14:54):
You know, that is really weird.
And neither is bacon, althoughit's always on my list.

Mike (15:01):
Powdered sugar.
What do you do on your Frenchtoast?

Kentucky Dave (15:03):
I I do syrup mostly, but I'll do an
occasional powdered powderedsugar.

Mike (15:09):
Get your powdered sugar syrup, folks.

Kentucky Dave (15:11):
Yep.

Mike (15:12):
Well, I don't know how bad it's gonna be.
I think the base basically it'sit's not gonna be great.

Kentucky Dave (15:18):
Yeah.

Mike (15:19):
To real too really, really crappy.
So uh we'll see.

Kentucky Dave (15:23):
Well, hunker down, use the time to go model,
because that's what I'm gonnado.

Mike (15:28):
Oh, me too.
And winter blitz isn't until theend of February, February 28th,
folks.
Winter Blitz has moved.
Yep.
If you were going, make sure youknow.
And now you do.

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
