Speaker 1 (00:00):
As an academic, you
were probably a late adapter to
things like Instagram, possiblyTwitter.
You're probably not usingLinkedIn as effectively as you
should.
You're probably not using any ofthese apps as effectively as
you should and because of that, you missed the short window in
these apps history in which youcould have built the foundation
of a really big following earlyon.
(00:31):
I don't want my work to be stuckbehind an academic paywall.
I want to leave a legacy, Iwant to reach my potential and I
want to change lives.
This podcast, power yourResearch, is my attempt to help
the smartest people in the worlddo that very thing.
My hope is that you use thelessons I share to make more
money than what your higher edjob can ever pay you.
(00:53):
I've done it, my clients havedone it, and so can you.
My hope is that you'll applywhat you learn here and one day
join the Power your Researchprogram, where you can work with
me one-on-one.
Today, I'm excited to talk toyou about this new app called
(01:16):
Threads.
Now, if you are not on it, Ihighly suggest that you get on
it and I'll explain what it isand then why I think you should
use it, and particularly for myacademics my audience, in which
I teach branding to you need toget on threads right now and you
(01:37):
need to start posting.
This is super, super, superimportant.
So first is super, super, superimportant.
So first, what is Threads?
So, reportedly, threads saw 95million posts and 70 million
signups one day after its launch, and so when you sign up to
(01:59):
Threads, you'll see the numberyou are in terms of when you
signed up.
So I'm like the two millionthperson to sign up to threads,
and a lot of my academic friendsare familiar with Twitter.
You are more comfortable usingTwitter because you're a writer,
(02:20):
you're an intellectual and it'san easy way for you to
communicate your thoughts.
A lot of academics do not likeshowing up and doing videos like
this and having to do all ofthe content creation.
You're more comfortable over onTwitter and that's actually a
good thing for you, becausethreads will remind you of
Twitter, because you can uploadvideos and actually the video
(02:41):
quality on threads is amazing.
You can upload pictures and allof that, but you can start out
on threads just posting texts.
So the same thing that you'reposting on Twitter, go ahead and
post it on threads.
Threads is Instagram's new appand I am seeing fast growth over
(03:03):
on threads.
I'm not seeing as muchengagement, but I am seeing fast
growth over on threads.
I'm not seeing as muchengagement, but I am seeing my
number of followers increase ata pretty steady pace, day by day
.
Hey, everyone, real quick.
I don't run any ads on thispodcast, so I have to rely on
word of mouth.
If this podcast has helped youin any way, please share it with
(03:26):

where I give more free contenton building your brand as an
academic.

make sure I accept your request.
The reason why this is soexciting for you academics, who
might be ages 30 and up, 30s,40s, 50s, even 60s age range, is
(03:50):
because you likely missed theboat with the other app.
As an academic, you wereprobably a late adapter to
things like Instagram, possiblyTwitter.
You're probably not usingLinkedIn as effectively as you
should.
You're probably not using anyof these apps as effectively as
you should and because of that, you miss the short window in
these apps history in which youcould have built the foundation
(04:11):
of a really big following earlyon.
So this is good news for you, because now you have a
completely new app where you getto start over and possibly have
thousands and millions offollowers.
If you get in now and starttaking it seriously and posting
and you know I'll go in as themonths go on around what I'm
learning on the app, what'sworking for me, what's not
(04:34):
working I'll definitely besharing more in detail with my
Power, your Research community, those in the Power, your
Research program, some of themore detailed information around
the app.
But for right now, please.
You're going to regret it intwo or three years if you did
not get on this app and startworking it because you're going
to miss the window.
(04:54):
You're going to miss the windowto do something really cool and
amazing with your brand, allright.
So again, if you're new here,my name is Dr Sheena Howard.
I'm the founder of Power yourResearch you.
