Speaker 1 (00:01):
Perspective.
You know, the other day I wentto a concert and it was in an
arena and when I was approachingthe arena I could see it.
You know, I wasn't reallythinking that many different
things, but I felt like Istarted having an idea about
something from my subconsciousand then it came to fruition in
(00:22):
real life and when I got in thearena I started thinking to
myself, as far as stand upcomedy goes, this needs to be my
standard, this needs to be myfilter as far as hitting the
mark embodied by this idea ofjust being on stage and having
(00:43):
everyone at the arena looking atme.
I kept thinking that every jokethat I need to say, that I need
to have from now on, has to befiltered through the principle,
the concept, the idea, thereality that it has to make
everybody in here laugh.
So it has to be good, great andbeyond.
It's a beautiful concept if youthink about it, right, by just
(01:07):
magnifying magnifying a simpleseed of information to like a
giant tree.
Right, a simple idea, and justmagnifying it right, because
that, to me, is the ultimatetest of, you know, thinking
higher and being higher.
Having higher actions comes asa result of having higher
(01:29):
thoughts, right, and um, I wasso really, I mean I don't want
to say distracted, but I wasmore, uh, engaged, my mind was
right with the idea of being onstage, in the arena, and, from
the perspective of being downthere instead of looking up,
(01:56):
instead of being in a seat andlooking down, I was just blown
away.
It was a beautiful moment andI'm using that from now on, from
then on, as a benchmark for mysuccess in comedy.
You know, I was writing jokesthis morning and as I was
writing them, I kept envisioningmyself being on that stage, in
(02:20):
the arena, and very easily, veryeasily, I knew what I should
delete, what I should take out, what wasn't hitting hard enough,
because every single line, wordfor word, my goal is always to
have it be a knockout punch.
If you're a professional boxerand your best punch was, let's
(02:40):
just say, it's a certainknockout punch, but if you could
throw that equal uh punch withevery punch, with your jab, with
your straight, with your umuppercut, with all of them, okay
, as you could.
Your one special punch.
That's my goal and every word, the timing, the delivery, it all
(03:00):
is a part of it, at the highestlevel of professional sports,
when you're doing a combat sport, for example, it's for even,
even for basketball take it asbasketball right, they might
actually fake a shot to make apass.
It's the setup that gets thepass there, it's not the pass,
because the pass will be blockedat the highest level right.
Or they might fake a pass andthen go for a shot again.
(03:24):
It's not the shot that makes itcount, it's the setup, and it's
no different.
As in comedy, right themisdirection only to reveal the
greater, higher um purpose andpoint of what you're doing.
When you can fold that overagain and multiply by two and
then fold it over, you're goingto multiply and multiply and
(03:45):
keep going on and on and on,right and on.
My point is is that when you dothat with something that you're
passionate about, you're nolonger working, you're just
living.
You're living that dream andyou're getting paid.
You're working and you're doingit and everything.
But reaching that higher levelcomes from the mind, but it can,
(04:09):
and also it doesn't have to,but it can also happen
physically before it happensmentally.
For me it was a combination ofboth, because I was already kind
of like feeling, like I had anidea about something, and when I
got in the arena.
That was the physicalmanifestation of it, and that's
when the idea really came tolife.
And now I've lived that idea.
So the beautiful part aboutthat is that now I understand it
(04:31):
as though I was on stage andit's going to help me
insurmountably, like beyondmeasure, and I'm so thankful and
I'm so happy about it.
And if anybody can take anythingthat I just said now and use it
in your own life, that's great.
Even better for you, right?
Um, but, uh, I'm excited to getback to my writing.
(04:51):
I'm excited to get back onstage and I have so much ahead
of me and I'm I'm just reallythankful and really happy.
So, um, as always, uh, ifthere's anything in here that I
said that helps you, awesome, even better, right, and for me,
as always, again, this isanother imprint on myself my
(05:16):
advancements, note-taking,memorization, fulfillment,
everything it's just nothing butgood vibes.
So I'm excited, I'm lookingforward to everything that's
next and I have a lot more tosay, but I have actions to do.
So y'all have a beautiful day.
I'm Benjo, well done, check meout.
Peace.
