This is an episode devoted to the Great Goddess of boundaries, crossroads, magic and witchcraft - Hecate. Considered to be one of the most ancient deities ever known, Hecate is found in the stories of the Ancient Greeks, but there are whisperings that she existed even before that time.
Hecate became Persephone’s constant companion and protector after the girl's abduction by Hades. After the 5th century BCE, Hecate became more associated with all things belonging to the shadow side - such as death, witchcraft, magic, the moon, hellhounds and any creature that roamed in the darkness.
As “Queen of the Night,” it is said she would lead hordes of spirits and other social outcasts with her, wherever she would go. She was both honored and feared as the protectress of the oppressed and of those who lived "on the edge". She reminds us of the importance of change, can help us release the past and asks us to let go of what is familiar and safe … courageously travelling into new beginnings.
