Release Date: September 15, 2025 Content Areas: Today, we are discussing how domestic violence is portrayed in movies, TV shows, and music, and its impact on public perceptions and the normalization of abusive behaviors in relationships through common media tropes. The role of celebrities and influencers in shaping awareness or perpetuating misconceptions about domestic violence will also be discussed. We will examine examples of media that have either positively or negatively influenced conversations surrounding abuse, while also examining the power of pop culture and media in raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding domestic violence. Recent films, shows, and public figures have leveraged their platforms to highlight the issue and support survivors. Additionally, explore the role of music, art, and storytelling in healing and empowering survivors.
