Be honest, you’ve done it at least. You called your boss and HR and stated that you’re unable to come into work because you’re sick. Perhaps you are sick with a flu or a cold, or you have to stay home to take care of a family member that is sick. However, you called in sick because you’re playing hooky: Your favorite sports team won the national series and is having a parade; there’s fresh snow in the mountains two hours away; there’s an anime convention going on.

For gamers, they call in sick because a new game is launching at midnight at your favorite retail store. They wait in line, queued up for the store’s opening. Some may have stopped by the grocery or convenient store with snacks and drinks. Some are wearing clothes of their favorite game. There may even be someone playing an OST by a game from the series.

This week, we’re celebrating “Phone in Sick Day”, originally created as a movement against the workplace culture: long hours, stress, and corporate pressure. For this episode, we’re playing tracks from video games which had people and gamers call in sick: an all-out war between humanity and two alien entities, a mission to rescue a friend that brings a soldier out of retirement, and a warrior caught in a war between demigods. We also have covers and remixes to follow.

Fire up the console or computer tower, grab the blanket from the bed, and place those drinks and snacks nearby, after making sure you called in sick…

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Bleep! with Ana Navarro

Fear thrives in silence and confusion. Ana Navarro rejects both. Her voice is an antidote to today’s chaos. Her new podcast, Bleep! with Ana Navarro, takes on today’s most pressing issues with the voices most connected to it: decision-makers, political leaders, cultural shapers, and people on the frontlines of the story. The conversations acknowledge the emotions we all feel—despair, sadness, fear— but emerge with knowledge, perspective, and hope. The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper. Because information, debate, and conversation don’t just ease fear, they give us power to shape the future.
