Dr. Veronica Hardy is a full-time professor at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, a licensed clinical social worker, and an author. As a clinical professional, she has provided counseling to persons ranging from children to adults on life experiences including anxiety, depression, and daily life transitions. Throughout her career, she has sought to communicate about the importance of mental health and wellness through individual, family, and group counseling services; public speaking events, as well as through her writings in academic journals, local magazines, and a spiritually-based workbook-style publication titled, A Letter to My Sisters: Reflecting on God’s Promises. Dr. Hardy grounds herself in reaching out to the community and creating awareness of social issues including child sex trafficking, racial disparities in schools, as well as intimate partner violence. More recently, due to Covid-19, she has sought to expand her outreach about mental health through the venue of a podcast titled, “There is Power in Your Story”, named after a yearly empowerment event she organized for her community.
