Today we look at God's redeeming love as shown through John 3:14-16. We'll unpack the profound significance of faith in Jesus, emphasizing how His atoning death and resurrection bring forgiveness and true reconciliation with God.

God's merciful nature and desire for all to be saved underpin the promise that "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." This episode sheds light on the compassionate nature of God's salvation plan.

Evangelism isn't about enforcing rules; it's about sharing the love of a living God. We'll delve into the relational and compassionate approach to evangelism, highlighting the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ in leading this mission.

NEW BOOK! I'm pleased to say that we have completed a new book that has been years in the making. The Ten Shirot: Songs of Redemption looks at ten songs that were sung through pivotal times in Scripture. It's an examination of the redemption of Jesus, of worship, and of Scripture in a way that we believe you probably haven't seen before. Check it out at https://a.co/d/0a4KIooL .

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hello and welcome to the Redeeming Love Bible
broadcast.
My name is Phil Duddy, evangelist with Grace Baptist
Tabernacle of King, northCarolina.
Very glad to have you with meon the program today.
As always, reach out to us.
We would love to hear from youat redeemingthelostaticloudcom
Today on the program.
We are going to go into John, chapter 3, and we're going to

(00:36):
start reading the Word of Godright at verse 14.
John, chapter 3, verse 14.

(00:56):
And here's how the Word of Godreads verse 14,.
And here's how the Word of Godreads that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish buthave everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son intothe world to condemn the world,
but that the world, through him, might be saved.
He that believeth on him is notcondemned, but he that
believeth not is condemnedalready because he hath not

(01:18):
believed in the name of the onlybegotten Son of God and
hallelujah and amen.
Now we have here the will ofGod and the provision of God,
the power of God to reconcilepeople to Himself, to save
people from His wrath, thatpeople might be born again, that
people might have everlastinglife.

(01:39):
Not only salvation, buteverlasting life.
And this is a life that isreconciled, restored to God, as
though personal sin never brokethat relationship.
Personal sin never happened.
And if you go back in the bookof Genesis, this is a return, if

(02:01):
you will, to relationship withGod the way that God originally
designed it to be.
There's no sin in the way, there's no sin hindering.
There is not an everlastingstruggle, there's not an
everlasting condemnation, there's not an everlasting labor

(02:21):
, there's not an everlastingwork.
There's an everlasting life.
And that everlasting lifedoesn't start in the sweet by
and by Hallelujah, but thateverlasting life begins at the
very moment of salvation.
And when somebody turns toJesus, when somebody believes on
Jesus, when somebody trustsJesus, when somebody submits to

(02:44):
Jesus, this everlasting lifebegins.
And I'm here to tell you todaythat that everlasting life is
not a drudgery, that everlastinglife is not full of stress,
it's not full of anxiety, it'snot full of tension, it's not
full of conflict, thateverlasting life is just simply
life reconciled to God, thateverlasting life is just simply

(03:08):
life reconciled to God, withnothing in the way.
And why is there nothing in theway?
Because of the work that JesusChrist himself finished on the
cross when he shed his blood, when he died an atoning death
for us and when he rose up againfrom the grave on that third
day.
That was a finished work, andJesus became your personal sin.

(03:35):
Jesus became my personal sin.
Jesus became the personal sinof all the people you know
around you and all the people inthis world, all the people who
have lived, all the people whoare living now, all the people
who shall live.
Jesus Christ became sin on thatcross and he died an atoning
death.
He died a death in your placeand in my place, and that death

(03:59):
satisfied God.
That death satisfied God.
That is why God is faithful andjust to forgive.
He is faithful and just toforgive, to forgive, to forgive,
to forgive anybody who trustsin Jesus Christ, anybody who
trusts in Jesus, whosoever.

(04:21):
And God's heart is not tocondemn the world, but God's
heart is that, through the world, the world through Jesus Christ
might be saved, saved from hiswrath, saved from the
destruction that comes upon.
Sin and sin are alike Now to besaved, to be restored, to be

(04:42):
reconciled, to be brought backinto relationship, brought back
home, if you will, because youknow, hallelujah, that's how God
formed us to be.
God formed us in His image andGod formed us.
God formed Adam to be inrelationship with Him, and sin
broke that him and sin brokethat and sin broke that

(05:09):
relationship.
Sin there was a curse and thereis a curse, and you don't
really have to go too far in theworld to encounter the
consequences and results of thatcurse.
Yet, at the same time, this isGod's approach toward a fallen
world, this is God's approachtowards people who are actively
living in sin, actively livingagainst Him and actively not

(05:32):
only living under the curse butembracing it.
This is God's approach and heleads with mercy, he leads with
a provision for reconciliation,he leads with a provision for
forgiveness, he leads with aprovision to restore humanity

(05:56):
again to himself.
And he also leads in aprovision toward the creation at
large as well, because we seein the book of Romans, even the
creation itself it groans, thecreation groans.
Well, god said something to theworld Amen, hallelujah.
He said there's going to be anew heaven and there's going to
be a new earth, and sin is notgoing to be a part of the
picture in the new heaven and inthe new earth.

(06:18):
But fundamentally, this isGod's approach.
God's approach is mercy and Hisapproach here in Jesus Christ is
reconciliation, is mercy, isprovision, so that people would
not perish, would not perish intheir sin, would not die in

(06:39):
their sin, but have everlastinglife.
That's what John 3.16 says.
Whosoever believeth in himshould not perish but have
everlasting life.
That's what John 3.16 saysWhosoever believeth in him
should not perish but haveeverlasting life.
And you look around?
That's God's will for everyone.
That you see, that is God'sdesire for everyone.
That you see that thatindividual, no matter how
heinous their sin might be, nomatter how damaging their sin

(07:02):
might be to themselves, even toother people, god does not want
people to perish.
He does not want anybody toperish in their sin, no matter
who that person is.
And so he opens up this promise.
He opens up this provision towhosoever.

(07:22):
He opens up this provision towhosoever.
Whosoever believeth in himshould not perish but have
everlasting life.
And this is the will of God,this is the approach of God,
this is the stance of God, ifyou will, and amen and
hallelujah.
It ought to be our stance, itought to be the church's stance.
The gospel and the word of Godshould be given in this sort of

(07:47):
redeeming love, and it should begiven in this way, it should be
given with this heart, itshould be given for people and
not against people.
You know again whether thatperson has had somebody's sin
run into them and that otherperson's sin had a direct effect
, you know, and it really messedup their life.

(08:07):
Well, god doesn't want theperson who got hit by other
people's sin to perish and atthe same time, god doesn't want
that.
You know the person whose sinreally really hurts people, the
person who is violent, theperson who is full of lust, the

(08:28):
person who is full of adultery, person who's full of drunkenness
, and you better believe thatthat sin hurts other people.
But whether you've been hurt bysomebody else's sin or whether
your sin has hurt somebody else, this promise is still directed
at you.

(08:48):
You can't sing your way out ofwhosoever.
Whosoever believeth in himshould not perish but have
everlasting life.
This is God's.
You know, and again I've saidit before, this is God's stance.
God is in authority, he is Kingof Kings, he is Lord of Lords,

(09:10):
and yet he's not hostile.
He is in authority, he is Kingof Kings, he is Lord of Lords,
and yet he is not legalistic,he's not a micromanager, he's
not legalistic, he's not amicromanager, he's not stuffy,
he's not overbearing.
And we shouldn't be either.
See, god came, jesus came.
Jesus was born of a virgin.
Jesus didn't just sort of situp there at the throne and

(09:32):
proclaim this over the earth.
No, jesus came to the earth.
He took upon Himself a body, came to the earth, he took upon
himself a body.
He took it upon himself to walkthe very earth that is cursed.
He was present at the cursingof the earth in Genesis, chapter
3,.
And here's Jesus.
He's walking around on thatsame earth.

(09:53):
He's interacting with people.
He's interacting in John,chapter 3.
He was a very, very, veryreligious man, and yet this
religious man is not aborn-again man.
This religious man is yet inhis sin, and yet here we've got
God interacting with him.
God's not browbeating, god'snot hostile, god's not stuffy,

(10:15):
god's not.
You know, he's not just sittingup there in his ivory tower.
No, god is here and he isinteracting with people in John,
chapter 3.
He is here and he isinteracting with people while
you're listening to thisbroadcast.
He is here and he isinteracting with people every
single day.
He interacts with peoplethrough the church.

(10:36):
He interacts with peoplethrough just a witness that the
sun rises and the sun sets.
There's a natural created orderto things.
God interacts with people.
God interacts and God draws anddraws, and draws and draws, and
so and he doesn't do it in thishostile way and so, church, we

(10:56):
shouldn't do it in a hostile wayeither.
This is not a matter ofcorrecting people's morals.
It's not a matter of imposingsome sort of structure or rules
or laws or theology on peoplewho don't share it.
But no, this is interacting andthis is introducing people.
You know, by the foolishness ofpreaching.

(11:18):
This is introducing people to areal, living God.
We're introducing people whoare real to a God who is real.
And it's not a hostile thing,it's not an overbearing thing,
it's not a heavy thing, it's not, you know, but it's just real

(11:40):
relationship, real Word of God,real Holy Spirit, drawing real
people, convincing real peopleof real sin, convincing real
people of real righteousness, convincing real people of real
judgment, and drawing people toa real Savior who's really alive
and who's really returning andwhose blood matters.

(12:03):
His blood is sufficient.
The blood that he shed issufficient for God not only to
cover your sin, but also toforget your sin.
It's the entire basis of thenew heaven and the new earth.
It's the entire basis of thenew heaven and the new earth.
It's the entire basis of everyman, woman and child, you see,

(12:27):
who is living in eternal liferight now.
And this is a real living thing, not a theological thing, not a
moral thing, not a legal thing, but it's a real living,
relational thing.
And we do a lot of harm toourselves, we do a lot of harm
to ourselves, we do a lot ofharm to others If we try to

(12:48):
carry out this work of anevangelist and we're frustrated.
We try to carry out this workof an evangelist and we're
hostile and we're full of lustand we're full of despair and
we're full of stress aboutwhether we wonder if we said the
right thing or did the rightthing, full of stress about
whether we wonder if we said theright thing or did the right
thing, and we harm ourselves andwe also affect other people in
that, humanly, we've got torealize that this type of love,

(13:12):
this type of compassion, thistype of mercy, this type of
grace and this truth, becauseyou know, as we even flip back a
couple chapters in John, youcan see that Jesus came and he
was full of grace and he wasfull this truth, because you
know, as we even flip back acouple chapters in John you can
see that Jesus came and he wasfull of grace and he was full of
truth and amen.
Those two do not contradict.

(13:36):
But when we try to, humanly wejust aren't sufficient for it,
and that's what we've got to see.
In the flesh, nobody issufficient for it.
But in the Spirit we are fullysufficient for this.
This type of relationship, thistype of outreach, this type of
evangelism that I'm describingjust very, very simply.

(13:59):
Looking at John, chapter 3,humanly this is not possible.
In the flesh this is notpossible.
But our sufficiency, church, our sufficiency is in the Holy
Spirit.
Our sufficiency is in JesusChrist, our head.
Our sufficiency is in JesusChrist, our head, jesus Christ

(14:23):
in whom our lives are hid, jesusChrist in whom the Father gives
us every spiritual blessing inheavenly places.
Our sufficiency is in theFather.
Our sufficiency is not found inour charisma.
It's not found in ourappearance.
It's not found in our charisma.

(14:43):
It's not found in ourappearance, it's not found in
our public speaking ability,it's not found in any sort of
scientific training that youcould possibly get to learn how
to read people.
It's not sufficient in that,it's not sufficient in anything
of the world or of the flesh.
But I'm telling you, thesufficiency is in the Lord

(15:03):
himself Because, amen, you gotto look at us, anyone who's born
again.
The Lord lovingly drew you tosalvation.
The Lord is in you.
The Lord is walking with youand you know, maybe so that
you're not resisting, you're notfighting, you're not kicking,

(15:24):
you're not screaming, but you'rewalking with the Lord.
Amen.
But you know he's, you knowhe's walking, he's leading you,
he's walking before you, you'refollowing him and the spirit is
bearing fruit in you.
You go from a cold, angry, scared person to somebody who is
loving, charitable and bold, and the Spirit works that in you

(15:46):
.
The Spirit bears that fruit inyou.
You go from someone who's fullof lust to someone who's full of
love, to someone who's full ofgreed, to someone who is a
cheerful giver.
You go from one thing toanother, you go from death to
life.
And the Lord brought you there, and amen, the Lord brought you
there.
And so the Lord's going tobring this person next to you

(16:10):
there, and that's how he's goingto do it.
He's going to do it in thespirit, he's going to do it in
the power of the Holy Ghost,he's going to do it in the
Spirit.
He's going to do it in thepower of the Holy Ghost.
He's going to do it through theblood of Jesus.
He's going to do it by the willand the provision of the Father
.
That is how he's going to do it.
Anybody who ever got saved, evergot born again, ever received

(16:31):
eternal life.
We all received it the same way.
We maybe had some differentlives and some different
situations leading up to thecross, but we all ended up at
the same cross.
We all ended up believing onthe same Jesus.
We all ended up under the sameblood.
We all ended up receiving thesame Holy Spirit.
We all ended up being adoptedby the same Father.

(16:54):
We all got saved the same way.
We all got saved the same way.
And so we've got to recognizethat the Lord lovingly provides
for the needs of even Hisenemies, and he also fully,
lovingly, abundantly providesfor us.
And so don't rely on your flesh, don't rely on your effort,

(17:17):
don't rely on your charisma, don't rely on your logic, don't
rely on your effort, don't relyon your charisma, don't rely on
your logic, don't rely on yourapologetic skill, don't rely on
your theological knowledge, don't rely on your historical
knowledge, don't rely on yourdenomination, don't rely on your
suit, don't rely on your dress, don't rely on your hairstyle,
don't rely on your music, don'trely on your money, don't rely

(17:39):
on your hairstyle, don't rely onyour music, don't rely on your
money, don't rely on yourposition, don't rely on anything
like that.
Um, but trust the Holy Ghost.
Um, trust the Holy Ghost, trustJesus, trust the Father, trust
the Lord.
All capital letters L-O-R-D.
Trust.
I am that.

(17:59):
I am Because he's not.
He's not just barely sufficient, he's abundantly sufficient.
That's where your life is,that's where your calling comes
from.
That's where your anointingcomes from.
That's where your life is.
That's where your calling comesfrom, that's where your
anointing comes from.
That's where your gifting comesfrom.
He's not only the one who givesit to you, he helps you use it.
He's not only the one who helpsyou use it, he's the one who

(18:22):
sustains it and he's the one whomakes you fruitful.
Amen, we got to rely on Him andagain I got to say it again.
There's a lot of harm that youcan do to yourself.
You can get really stressed out, you can give yourself a lot of

(18:42):
anxiety, you can give yourselfa lot of grief, you can cause
yourself a lot of frustration ifyou rely on the flesh, lot of
frustration if you rely on theflesh.
But even so, god is good enoughto show you.
Hey, you're relying on theflesh and he's not going to
throw you away, but he's goingto draw you, he's going to

(19:04):
mature you, he's going to growyou up, he's going to prune you
so that your life can be grownin the right way.
And, trusting and relying onHim, we harm ourselves if we
rely on the flesh.
We also impact and do harm toother people, and that's
something we've got to realize.

(19:24):
We always affect other people.
We always affect other peopleEven if you're a Christian and
you never talk to anybodythrough the day.
You never interact with anybodythrough the day, just
hypothetically.
Well, you're affecting otherpeople because you've got the
gift of eternal life and amen.

(19:45):
You know God needs somebodyelse out there working in the
fields, and so you affect otherpeople constantly.
We do, we all do.
You know.
Well, you know, none of us areislands.
We we always run into otherpeople, other people always run
into us.
And so so may it be that youknow, you see people a little
bit differently, maybe that yousee people the way that God sees

(20:09):
people and he sees somebodyover there.
That person is just a second offaith away from being saved.
That person is just a second offaith away from receiving
eternal life, being born again, setting off a celebration in
heaven the likes of which wedon't understand yet.

(20:31):
Amen.
But you know, even the angel, they all rejoice whenever one
person turns to Jesus Christ, whenever one person repents,
whenever one person trusts him.
They all rejoice and everyoneyou see is, you know, just a
moment away from that.
And the Lord has areconciliation for them and the

(20:53):
Lord has a gifting for them, theLord has a calling for them,
the Lord has a healing for themand the Lord has a work of
reconciliation and restorationto do in their lives and in
their family's lives and theirfriends' lives.
God has something good.
He has blessings stacked on,blessings ready to give that

(21:14):
person.
And really you can take it thisfar.
The only reason a person goesthrough life without eternal
life, goes through lifeembracing sin, goes through life
, you know, not saved, not bornagain, hostile and angry to God.

(21:34):
You know God made all theprovision for that person to be
born again and the only reasonthey're not born again is
because it's refused because theGod-given belief, the God-given
faith is placed elsewhere.
It's not placed in Jesus Christ, it's placed somewhere else.

(21:57):
That's the only reason a personis not saved, any given person.
And we've got to have thisheart to be peacemakers.
We've got to have this heart.
You know blessed are bepeacemakers.
We've got to have this heart.
You know blessed are thepeacemakers.
We've got to have this heart, fishers of men.

(22:18):
We've got to have this heart toreconcile, because God has a
heart to reconcile.
We live in an age ofunparalleled grace and so we
ourselves.
May we hear and believe andsubmit to the Lord.
He cares for us and it's reallyonly through faith, submission,

(22:39):
love and obedience to the Lordthat he makes us into charitable
, bold people.
We don't get this through theworld, we don't get this through
education, we don't get thisthrough study, we don't get this
through anything other thanreceiving it from the Lord.
And the good news is, if youdon't have it, if you don't have

(23:00):
it, if you're not walking inthis, well, god has made every
provision for you.
And may you hear Him and mayyou receive Him.
Hear His Word, receive His Word, take in his word.
You know, get involved with aspirit-filled, jesus-loving,

(23:21):
vibrant church, no matter whereyou happen to be.
I mean, if you're close by,come on over.
Amen.
You know we in King, northCarolina, even if you're not
close by, come on over.
We'd love to meet you in person.
But you need to be involved inthat kind of church, you need to
be involved in the word of God,you need to be involved walking
and talking with the Lord.

(23:42):
And the reality is, if you'reborn again today, you're in 24-7
relationship with the Lord.
He's done everything and theLord has done a great, great
work, and so the question is howdo you respond to that?
And may he find faith today.

(24:04):
