Let's do it.
Hey everyone, it's Lauren.
I'm so excited to be with youfor this.
I have something for you that,in all honesty, I've been
struggling with for a long whilenow and getting it out there.

(00:22):
Struggling with self-doubt andreally just being scared.
But it needs to be heard, andespecially in this last days.
So today's episode is a wake-upcall, one we can't afford to
ignore.
All around us, hearts aregetting colder, faith is growing
numb, and many are slipping intowhat I can only describe as
spiritual hypothermia.

(00:43):
This is a message of warning,but it's also a message of
mercy.
A call back to the fire, a callback to the covering, and a call
back to life.
The ears of many are closing tohis voice.
Hearts are growing colder.
People are becoming so cold thatthey grow numb.

(01:03):
And that numbness leads tospiritual hypothermia.
Hypothermia is a dangerous dropin body temperature caused by
prolonged exposure to cold.
So it is with the soul.
Prolonged exposure to hurt,trauma, bitterness,
disappointment, sin, anddistance from God makes the
heart grow numb.

(01:24):
Being hurt can make you cold.
Being wounded can make youdistant.
Staying wounded can make youfreeze.
Have you ever heard offrostbite?
Let me tell you a bit about it.
Frostbite occurs when exposedskin freezes under harsh and
freezing conditions.

(01:44):
So it is when believers stand inthe middle of storms.
Storms against the church,storms against families, storms
against the individual believer.
When we step out from under thecovering of God and the
shepherds he has appointed, whenwe distance ourselves from the
flock and the warmth of hispresence, we end up exposed to
deadly spiritual conditions.

(02:06):
In Psalm 91, verses 1 through 2,it declares the ancient truth.
But even skin covered by glovescan frostbite if the clothing
becomes wet and ruined by thestorm.
You know, this reminds me oflast winter.

(02:27):
Our area got snow, and Iremember being with a close
friend of mine, and we wereoutside sliding down our hills
and having a good time, buteventually we had to come in the
house because our hands and feetwere freezing.
Like mine were going numb,pretty much.
Well, her mom gave us largeziploc bags to put over our
socks on our feet, and then weadded more layers to help

(02:50):
further prevent our toes andfingers from falling off.
It was it was weird, but itworked.
Now, so it is with hidden sins,little foxes, and things we
think are covered but are stillkilling us.
Scripture commands us whoeverconceals his sin will not
prosper, and that's Proverbschapter twenty eight, verse

(03:10):
thirteen.
Remove his filthy garments, Ihave taken your iniquity away.
And that's Zechariah chapterthree, verses three through
four.
The old garments must go.
Old sins, they must be strippedoff, and old wounds you must
also surrender them.
Priestly robes must replaceruined clothing.

(03:32):
There is a third, final and mostterrifying stage, deep
frostbite.
If a person remains in the coldlong enough, the skin becomes
hard, cold and stone-like.
This is what happens to theheart.
Years of wounds, offenses,unforgiveness, sin, rebellion,
and disobedience can freeze aheart into stone.

(03:55):
In Hebrews chapter three, versesseven through eight, it warns,
do not harden your hearts.
The Lord declared the conditionof the last days.
And that's Matthew chapter 24,verse 12.
This is that time, this is thatseason, and this is a
fulfillment unfolding before oureyes.

(04:17):
Deep frostbite kills tissue, itkills circulation, and it
ultimately kills life.
Spiritually, it kills passion,it kills devotion, conviction,
and will ultimately kill love.
If left untreated, it turnsblack, disgusting, dead tissue
that eventually must be cut off.

(04:39):
And must be cut off from thebody.
And that includes the body ofthe church.
Exposure without protectiveclothing, like stepping into
spiritual territory, weak,unprayed up, not being watchful,
and without the armor of God,that is one of the risk factors
for spiritual frostbite.

(05:01):
If you try to step intosomething unknown that will
bring intense spiritual warfarewithout preparing for it prior,
you run the risk of exposingyourself to harmful things.
Now, what do you take in daily?
Do you spend your timecomplaining, grumbling, or
placing yourself around thosewith unclean mouths?
What are you watching on TV andopening your eye gates to?

(05:23):
What kind of music are youallowing to pour into your ear
gates?
Living in sin repeatedly and ininhaling the same poison daily?
Not good at all.
Prior injuries.
So like old wounds make you morevulnerable to new cold.
If you don't allow the Lord toheal old wounds, they will
eventually fester.

(05:44):
Someone who has previouspreviously fallen victim to the
damage of frostbite runs therisk of it happening again.
So some complications ofspiritual frostbite,
hypothermia, spiritualdrowsiness, you shut down, you
withdraw from life.
Numbness is deadly spiritually.

(06:05):
It could cause growth problemsin children, generations, damage
to spiritual foundations, youngbelievers, young families, young
disciples harmed by coldenvironments.
You know, this is a similarenvironment to the one I came
out of at home when I wasyounger.
Emotionally cold, distant, andsometimes unavailable household,

(06:26):
a home full of people who do notcommunicate in a healthy manner,
like infection, bitterness,anger, unforgiveness, deep
wounds, these open the door forsin to invade.
Here are some ways you couldpossibly prevent yourself from
falling victim to spiritualfrostbite.
Limit exposure to frigid, stormyconditions.

(06:48):
Stay away from environments thespirit is warning you about.
Listen to your pastors andleaders.
Listen to the watchmen and heedthe prophets.
Put on wool and fleece.
Wool in biblical culturesymbolizes cleansing.
Sins forgiven, coveringsrestored.
Bundle up.
Put on the proper protectiveclothing, especially before

(07:09):
entering a risky environment.
Watch for symptoms.
Do not ignore the signs ofgrowing coldness.
You need to be eating anddrinking well.
Feed on the word of God.
Drink deeply from the livingwater.
Pray without ceasing.
Stay spiritually hydrated or thecold will overtake you.

(07:30):
Always keep moving.
Idleness will breed cold.
Movement generates heat, andworking keeps you warm.
Work for the Lord.
Serve Him wherever you are.
Worship keeps you warm.
Obedience keeps you warm.
A still believer becomes afrozen believer.
Now this is a warning, a mercy,a divine interruption.

(07:54):
The cold is spreading, the worldis freezing, hearts are
hardening, and love is dyingout.
But the Lord is calling hispeople back to the fire.
Return to the heat of hispresence, return to the
covering, return to the flock,return to the altar, and return
to the flame.
Do it before the cold becomespermanent, before the heart

(08:16):
freezes solid, and before deepfrostbite sets in.
