SPEAKER_00 (00:07):
Welcome to Renewed
Mindsets.
I'm Rick, and I'm so glad you'rehere.
I really am.
We had a guest preacher thismorning at church, and he
challenged somebody.
I think he was talking to ourpastors, about coming up with a
(00:28):
sermon titled God Is.
And uh and it all hit me atonce.
So I had to run upstairs and getthis down before um before I
forget it.
But God is, not was and not willbe.
God is.
Now that statement is so simple, but it challenges everything
(00:50):
about how most people think.
A lot of times we relate to Godthrough stories or memories or
hopes for the future.
God showed up back then, or Godwill throw God'll come through
someday.
But a renewed mind anchorsitself in present uh awareness,
(01:12):
present awareness.
Yeah.
Because if God only was, thenhe's limited to history.
If God only will be, then he'salways out of reach.
But if God is, then he is activein your current situation.
He's present in your currentthoughts.
(01:34):
He's available to help you withyour current decisions.
Like you're overwhelmed tryingto figure something out, and
your instinct is to panic oroverthink.
A renewed mind interrupts thatspiral and it says, God is
present right here, so I don'thave to operate like I'm alone.
(01:58):
That one shift changes yourstate of mind, your state of
being before it ever changesyour situation.
When Moses asked God who he was,God didn't give himself a title.
He gave a timeless identity.
I am.
(02:20):
That means that means that he'snot bound by time.
That God's not waiting to becomeanything.
God's already everything heneeds to be for every moment for
all time.
So the old way of our thinkingis, or the old thinking pattern
(02:41):
is that, well, God helped peoplein the Bible, but what about me?
Or miracles like that don'thappen anymore.
That ended with the apostleswhen they died.
But our new way of thinkingshould be the same presence that
existed then, exists now.
(03:03):
Think about how people admireresilience in other people.
We think they're strong or theyhandled that so well.
But when your mind is renewed, the source of that strength
isn't rare.
It's available and accessible toyou because God is.
(03:24):
Today, instead of saying, I wishI had what they have, say the
same source is available to meright now.
You stop comparing and you startconnecting.
And if God is, then everythingtied to Him is not distant.
(03:46):
It's immediate right now.
Let me break that down.
Peace is not the absence ofchaos, but stability in chaos.
You're dealing with uncertainty,whether it's your job or a
(04:07):
relationship or your finances.
And your old way of thinking isyou're going to stress out,
you're going to overthink.
You just keep looping round andround and round in a fear loop.
But when you change the way youthink, God is present, so I can
(04:30):
choose peace even before thingschange.
Right?
Clarity.
It's not knowing everything, butit knows your next step.
But it's knowing your next step.
You don't need to know the fullplan.
So instead of freezing, youthink God is, so I can move
forward with what I do now.
(04:52):
And strength, not hype, butsustained ability is strength.
You're not hyping yourself up.
You actually have the fortitude.
You have the, what's the wordI'm looking for?
You have the uh, oh crap, Ican't even think of the word I'm
(05:13):
looking for.
Let's say you're tired mentallyand emotionally.
Instead of quitting inside, youjust shift.
And now you're like, God is mysource.
So I'm not limited to how I feelright now.
Well, what you need to do, trythis.
Pick one area where you feellike you lack, whether it's
(05:36):
peace or direction orconfidence, and now reframe it.
Instead of saying, I don't haveenough peace, say, if God is,
then peace is available to meright now.
I don't have enough confidence.
(05:58):
If God is, then confidence isavailable to me right now.
Just repeat it until yourthinking aligns with what you're
saying.
To change the way we think aboutGod, it's not automatic, but
it's intentional.
(06:19):
You have to change your defaultthinking.
You have to change the way thatthe last 20 or 30 or 40 or 50
years of life has conditionedyou to think.
Now, a lot of times people lookfor validation in so many
different ways.
(06:41):
Externally, people will be like,I believe it when I see it,
right?
And this mindset puts reality incharge of your belief.
But a new version of thatmindset is I'll see it because I
believe it.
That doesn't mean blind denial.
(07:02):
Pardon me.
It means your internal alignmentshapes your external experience
in life.
Here's an example.
You got two people, and they'refacing the same issue.
It's a setback.
One of one person, the firstone, spirals out of control, and
(07:24):
they're like, This alwayshappens to me.
And one person, instead ofspiraling, they just stabilize.
And they're like, there's stilla way through this.
It's the same situation, it's adifferent mindset, a different
outcome, because it had adifferent trajectory.
(07:47):
Okay, the other, the other typeof people, isolationists.
I know a lot about that becauseI am one or was one.
Let me let me speak truth.
Let me speak positivity here.
I was an isolationist.
I would say I'm on my own.
Right?
(08:07):
This creates pressure andanxiety and burnout.
But a way to change your mindsetis viewing God as God is.
If God is, then I'm supported, even when I don't see how.
(08:31):
Like you're making a toughdecision.
And instead of feeling likeeverything rests on you, you can
think, I'm not carrying thisalone.
I'm being guided through itbecause God is.
Are you tracking with me?
Then you got people that justwait passively.
I'm waiting for a sign.
(08:53):
A new way of thinking, thatperson would say, I move in
alignment, and clarity meets mein that movement.
Instead of waiting until you'rea hundred percent ready, you
just take a step.
You adjust as you go.
You trust presence overperfection.
(09:19):
Here's a way to interrupt yourcurrent thought pattern.
Catch one negative or one um,yeah, just a negative, limiting
thought, something negative asit runs through your head, and
snag hold of it and say, if Godis, then this is not the end of
the story.
(09:41):
Right?
You don't have to accept it asnegative.
Now, this is where it becomesdaily practice, not just
inspiration.
You got a situation wherethere's a lot of pressure, you
feel overwhelmed, you feelstress and tension, and you make
(10:02):
decisions that are reactive,right?
But you need to pause andbreathe.
Do you hear me?
Breathe.
And say, God is here, I don'thave to rush or panic.
And then take the next stepcalmly.
(10:24):
If there's a situation where youdoubt, you question yourself,
you second guess, you'rehesitating, just just say God is
greater than this thought.
So I don't have to agree withit.
And then act anyway.
(10:45):
Or if you feel stuck, you don'tsee a way forward, you freeze,
or you just don't do anything, you just procrastinate.
Change your mindset.
If God is, then there's a way, even if I can't see it yet.
Then do the next availableaction, right?
(11:12):
Make it a habit.
Create.
Create.
I sound so official sometimes.
I want you to make a list.
Three positive anchorstatements.
God is present, God is guiding.
(11:34):
God is my source.
And then repeat them.
When you wake up, when you prayin the morning.
Repeat it whenever stress, whenever some kind of stressful
moment happens in your lifeduring the day, repeat it before
(11:57):
you make any kind of decision.
It's proven science thatrepetition builds mental
pathways.
If you want to renew your mind, renew it and build it with a God
is attitude.
And then reset your identity.
(12:22):
It's the deepest level that wehave is our identity.
Most of us believe we aresomething that we're not.
A renewed mind doesn't justchange your thoughts, it changes
your identity.
You're not separate from God,you're not separate from his
(12:43):
influence, you're connected toit.
That means that you don't borrowstrength, you express it because
God is.
You don't chase purpose, youcarry it because God is that
purpose.
You don't wait for worth, youoperate from it because God is.
(13:07):
People say I'm not confident orI'm not ready or I don't have
what it takes.
But if God is, then you'reconnected to Him.
Then you're not operating fromlack.
That doesn't mean if I thinkthat way, it doesn't make me
(13:28):
arrogant.
It means that I'm aligningmyself with God.
The next time you hesitatebefore speaking or before
starting something or beforemaking a move, pause and think,
what would I do right now if Ifully believed that God is with
(13:48):
me?
And then do that.
Yeah.
God is not later.
God is not eventually.
God is not conditionally.
God is right now.
So the question isn't (14:04):
will God
show up?
The question is, will I think, will I act, will I move like he
already has?
Because renewing your minddoesn't wait for confirmation,
it lives from connection.
