SPEAKER_01 (04:32):
Welcome everybody to
another episode of the Ride Home
Rance Podcast.
This is, as always, your host,Mike Bono.
I have a great episode that I'msuper pumped to get on for.
I have a panel of guests, andwe're going to be talking all
things uh Sylvester Stallone andtalking about Sly and everything
(04:53):
that goes along with him.
I have a panel of guests thatare going to be sitting here
with me and living my dreams ofwanting to be Rocky and talking
about uh Stallone here.
And guys, I need your name.
Uh, is Hawaii an overrated orunderrated state?
And have you ever eaten dragonfruit?
And JJ, we're gonna start withyou.
SPEAKER_02 (05:13):
Yeah, JJ Phillips.
Um, Hawaii is I would sayunderrated since I've never been
there.
I really don't know, so I'mgonna say underrated.
And I've never had dragon fruit,so I wouldn't know.
Okay, all right.
Uh next we got Cole.
SPEAKER_04 (05:29):
Hey uh Cole
Schneider.
Uh Hawaii is I don't know, it'sit's rated.
I've never been, so I can'treally make a judgment on it.
But uh Jagon Fruit is actuallypretty delicious.
I like it.
SPEAKER_01 (05:43):
Okay.
Uh and last but not least, wehave everybody's favorite
manager of the podcast, Fetty.
SPEAKER_00 (05:50):
So everybody knows
me, I'm Fitti.
I'm gonna say Hawaii'sunderrated, and I've been there.
Um, it was incredible.
I'm a huge, as everybody knows,a huge Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
basketball and football fan.
Um, so love Hawaii, vastlyunderrated.
I actually just sent this textout after the Arizona game the
other day, and I was like, canyou imagine being a football
player at the University ofHawaii?
(06:11):
Like, how incredible that wouldbe like being there and playing
college football, but that's foranother time.
And I'm gonna say, um, dragonfruit is underrated.
I didn't really didn't have ittill recently, but I find it to
be pretty delicious andrefreshing.
SPEAKER_01 (06:24):
I was gonna say,
with what we were talking about
before we hit record, Fitty, Ireally thought that answer for
the dragon fruit was gonna go awhole hell of a lot longer than
that than that.
Um, but yeah, everyone knows me,Mike Bono.
Um, I I I've never been toHawaii.
I I want to.
My wife has an aunt that livesthere.
She always says we have a placeto stay if we ever want to visit
(06:45):
uh Hawaii.
Um, so I mean I'm I'm gonna sayuh it's underrated because I've
never been there.
Um and I've never eaten dragonfruit, so I have no idea um what
it's like.
So I'm gonna take uh Cole andFitty's suggestion on it and and
say it's a it's it's great.
Uh but we're not here to talkabout fruit or Hawaii.
(07:07):
We are here to talk aboutSylvester Stallone um and
everything that he has to gothrough.
So, JJ, we're gonna start withyou.
And where does Stallone rank asan all-time actor?
Ooh, damn.
Dude, you know we asked the hardquestions on these panels.
I don't know why you're alwaysso surprised.
SPEAKER_02 (07:25):
I'm going to say top
top five, top five.
He's in the top five.
I'm not gonna put a number nextto his name right now, but he's
in the top, he's in my top five.
SPEAKER_04 (07:39):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (07:40):
All right, cool.
What about you?
SPEAKER_04 (07:43):
Uh with action
actors, I always kind of put
them in a different area, right?
Because there's like there'saction guys, and then there's
you know the other guys.
So I always put Sallone in inthe top five of action guys,
right?
Probably two or three, rightright around where
Schwarzenegger is.
SPEAKER_01 (08:01):
Okay.
And I cannot wait to hear this.
Uh, but Fitti, uh, where where'sthe loan for you?
SPEAKER_00 (08:09):
You know, it it's
it's hard to to kind of get a
pinpoint on him too at times, because he's done really nothing
but like like action movies ormaybe like a thriller type of
deal.
You get a little bit of comedyhere and there.
Um I'm gonna say overall,Stallone has to be top 15 of all
(08:30):
time, but I'll get into thatlater.
And probably as an action hero,he has to be top three.
Um, it has to be like him,Schwarzenegger, and probably at
this point Jason Statham.
So I would say he's in that mixin the top three.
SPEAKER_01 (08:43):
That's a solid top
three for action, action actors.
Like that, that you can't gowrong with that top three.
Hell, they were all in a movietogether, the expendables, you
know.
Like that's that's that's a hellof a that's a hell of a ranking.
I would, I mean, I'd have toagree with you know, JJ here.
He's in my top five for sure ofall-time actors, uh, action
actors.
I have about that two or threerange.
(09:05):
Um, I think you can intertwinehim and um uh Swarzenegger, you
know, those two can kind ofbattle it out for two and three,
but I think Statham right now isjust you know untouchable as an
as an action actor.
Uh, but Finny to stay with youuh because this this ranks
Stallone's three big threeseries in order from best to
(09:27):
worst, and that's theexpendables, Rambo, and Rocky.
SPEAKER_00 (09:32):
Well, I I I think
you have to so you have to say
Rocky, and I mean I'm saying itas a fan, but you have to look
at it though as he's transcendedtime with that series.
I mean, you're talking about youknow, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s,
and the 2000s, and then you addin the creeds, the first two
creeds that he was in, being inthe you know, the what is that
(09:55):
the 15 and 17 range of the2000s?
So you have to rank it there.
It's transcended time.
Um, I know we talked about thison the Rocky show.
I mean, he's he's really createdprobably the greatest boxing
movie ever, if not sports movie, and probably the greatest love
story ever as well, with him andAdrian.
So it has to go Rocky, has to beone.
(10:15):
Um it's really hard for numbertwo.
I'm probably gonna say Rambo,um, because that series he
whatever like happens in it, healways comes back.
Now it's very far-fetched, someof that stuff.
Like he won, he won the the theAfghan, you know, Russian war
himself in the 80s, and youknow, he took on took on like a
(10:36):
bunch of mercenaries and in youknow, the fourth Rambo, you
know, and then in like the lastone, he he killed an entire
cartel.
Um, so I mean it's veryentertaining from the point that
like what he does um, you know, with that.
And then I'm gonna say theexpendables, but but Rambo and
the Expendables are are prettyclose.
It could be almost like a twoand two A, but I'm gonna go
Rocky, Rambo, and theExpendables.
SPEAKER_04 (10:58):
Okay, Cole, what
about you?
Uh, so I'm I'm actually rightwith Fiddy.
I I would say Rocky is just agreat movie.
Uh, whether you're a sports guy,you're not, like it's just a
great movie, good acting, greatstoryline, incredible ending,
um, just all around a greatmovie.
Uh, Rambo is my one of myfavorite uh action movies ever.
(11:21):
Um, it's fun, it's uhridiculous, it's it's got some
great one-liners.
Um, it really makes Stallone outto be just like the biggest
badass in the world, and that'sawesome.
Uh, The Expendables is great.
Uh, I would definitely put it atthree.
Uh, I can think of a few otherStallone movies I probably put
up above that, but uh it's stilla good movie.
SPEAKER_01 (11:42):
Yeah, absolutely.
JJ, round us out on this one.
SPEAKER_02 (11:45):
Yeah, I'm gonna go
same with everybody else.
Rocky series number one.
I mean, that's not even aquestion.
I mean, it's classic.
You can throw it on and just gothrough one, through all of
them, all the way up to the Kreeseries in a day or two and just
never get bored.
Um, two, of course, is uhRamble.
I mean, just mind-numbingaction.
(12:05):
You just take it for what it'sworth and it's great.
And then expendables, I'm not sohigh on, so it's number three
for me.
SPEAKER_01 (12:12):
Yeah, just in case
you guys were wondering, that is
the correct order.
I was hoping you guys put it inthat order.
That is the correct order forthose three series.
It is, it is Rocky Rambo, andthen the expendables.
Yes.
Um, Rocky, like everyone hit it,you know, like you know what
Johnny said.
I mean, it spans from the the70s and 80s to the 2000s.
Like you have a series and afranchise that that's made it
(12:34):
that long and then branches offinto the creeds that create a
whole new franchise andeverything like that.
You just can't go wrong withthat.
Uh Rambo, I mean, who doesn'tlove Stallone being a
far-fetched badass in that movieand that series too as well?
And then the expendables, Imean, Stallone's not the only
one in there, so that's why Ikind of would put it at three.
(12:56):
I mean, they're phenomenalmovies, don't get me wrong, with
all the actors and action actorsthat are in it.
But, you know, I I still thinkthat that as for just strictly
talking about Stallone and hismovies, I it has to be three.
Um but JJ, you can only pick onemovie here now.
What is Stallone's best movieever?
SPEAKER_02 (13:21):
Um I'm going to say
Rocky II.
The second Rocky is my favoriteStallone movie.
Yes.
I like the first one.
The first one is all-timeclassic, but Rocky II is just my
um all-time favorite.
(13:41):
He uh he gets the rematch, hewins the belt.
I mean, yeah, Rocky II.
SPEAKER_01 (13:47):
It's not a bad
choice.
I'm not gonna lie to you, but uhto say Rocky II off the rip is
is a strong start.
Cool, follow that.
Rocky II.
What are we talking about,Stallone's best movie ever?
SPEAKER_04 (13:58):
Oh, so my fa can I
go with my favorite?
Is that okay?
Is Rocky is his I think Rocky Iis his best movie ever, but I
think my favorite would be haveto be Judge Dredd.
I just absolutely love that.
Oh, that's a classic.
It's great.
That's that's such a greatmovie.
Yeah, I love that pick.
I know.
Thank you.
That's that's there's so muchnostalgia with that movie.
SPEAKER_01 (14:20):
I just I can watch
it anytime so much with that
movie.
And oh wow, I'm I almost forgotabout that one.
But Fiddy, what about you?
SPEAKER_00 (14:30):
So I I'm gonna give
you I'm gonna give you two
different versions here.
So if I'm picking probably hisbest acting job ever was
probably Rocky One becausenobody really knew about him,
and to go in and deliver that, you know, phenomenal story.
Um a non-Rocky movie that heprobably is very underrated.
(14:54):
I think he did a really good jobin is the movie Copland.
Um, if people have never seenthat, it's with him, Robert De
Niro, um Harvey Kaitel, um theguy that played the T1000 um in
uh Terminator 2.
Um you have uh you know a coupleother people in there, Rayleigh
(15:15):
Otta.
So I I think that's probably oneof his finest um acting,
underrated acting movies rightthere.
SPEAKER_01 (15:23):
Okay.
I was torn with this questionwhen I read it to try to answer
this question.
Um to pick Rambo for me as oneof my favorites just because of
the how far-fetched it was, oruh Rocky One.
Um for me, uh it was a coinflip, but I gotta go Rocky One
(15:46):
uh for this one.
Just the storyline behind youknow, setting up that franchise
and setting up him and Adrianand his boxing career and
everything that goes along withthat, and it really sets up the
franchise.
So for that reason, I'm pickingRocky One as my favorite and you
know, best movie of all time forStallone.
(16:09):
Uh Fitty, what is an underratedStallone movie?
You kind of touched on it alittle bit there with the last
question, but you know, is thereany other underrated Stallone
movies that you would recommendto anyone?
SPEAKER_00 (16:22):
Yeah, I would
definitely say Copland if if
people didn't see that, um, youknow, for sure.
And before I answer this, I dowant to throw this out.
If you think about the whatStallone did as an actor, you
know, he if you look at theRocky series, you know, he he
really made um, you know, theApollo Creed character, Carl
(16:43):
Weathers, the the actor reallyhe was today, right?
Carl Weathers was an NFLlinebacker who dabbled in
acting, but Stallone reallylaunched his career.
You know, you look at um IvanDrago, you know, that with uh
Dolph Lundgren, he launchedDolph Lundgren's career.
He was just really a model umthat he launched his action
career.
(17:03):
Same thing with Tommy Gunn andRocky V, Tommy Morrison um
launched him, you know, at itwith his ability to be a popular
boxer in the 90s, uh, you know, with that.
Um really helped Michael B.
Jordan launch a very, verysuccessful post-crete career um,
you know, as an actor.
So that's one thing aboutSallone I think people need to
(17:25):
realize.
And then to get all those actionpeople to want to do a movie
with him in the expendables, Ithink is is incredible.
Speaks of the respect ofSylvester Sallone.
Regardless, I would definitelysay Copland um is probably the
most I would say underratedmovie.
Maybe people have never seenwith that.
I would say another one, though,if I'm taking out the equation,
is the specialist with him andSharon Stone.
(17:47):
Um, the specialist is afantastic, fantastic movie, and
that's like prime 1990s, like48-year-old Sty Stallone.
So that's an awesome movie.
SPEAKER_01 (17:59):
Absolutely cool.
What about you?
Underrated movie.
SPEAKER_04 (18:03):
Oh man, Copland's
such a good pick because that's
probably like his most likeserious movie, I guess.
I don't know.
Um, he also did this movie aboutJimmy Hoffa.
I think it was called like Fistor something like that.
And it's like a political drama.
And I I haven't seen it inyears, so I don't know how it
still holds up, but I'll justsay fist.
(18:24):
It's like it's uh spelled out,it's like F-I-S-T.
I'm trying to remember.
Yeah, it's it's a ridiculousmovie.
So if you get a chance to seeit, watch it.
Okay.
SPEAKER_01 (18:36):
I heard you agreeing
with Fitty as they used to just
go through movies.
Like, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02 (18:40):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (18:40):
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (18:41):
So I can't wait to
hear which one you pick with
him.
This one is a gem.
It's a classic.
Demolition man.
Him and Wesley Snipes.
Man, that is a classic.
I used to watch that movie somuch.
I mean, send a maniac to catch amaniac.
I mean, it's just it's such agreat movie.
I mean, I mean, and it has somany puns and jokes.
You never find out what thethree C cells are used for in
(19:04):
that movie.
They make jokes about the wholemovie, and you never find out
what they're used for.
SPEAKER_01 (19:09):
I'm so glad.
I didn't think anybody waspicking that movie for this
answer.
I really I was like, there's noway anybody's picking up one of
my favorite movies.
It's there, you're not wrong inthat one.
That should be on everybody'slist for sure.
It's definitely underratedbecause that was my pick.
That was a thousand percent mypick uh for underrated style
(19:30):
movies.
And yeah, you just all right,JJ.
I'm not mad at it.
All right, but JJ, what do youthink of uh him in the show The
Tulsa King?
SPEAKER_02 (19:42):
Well, sorry to
disappoint you, but I have not
watched one episode of that.
You've heard shut your mouth.
No, I'm serious.
I've heard great things aboutit.
I'm always saying I'm gonnastart it.
I'm always playing catch up withTV series because I hardly have
time to watch when I do havetime to watch after Ben's watch
on like a Sunday, and I have yetto get the Tulsa King, but I
have heard great things aboutit.
SPEAKER_01 (20:03):
You better pick it
up, is all I'm saying.
That's uh I'll give my answerright now.
Phenomenal.
I can't wait for the new seasonto come out.
But they they put a teaser outthe other day, and my wife saw
it before I did because I waschecking something on my phone
for the podcast and stuff likethat, and I heard her go, uh oh.
And I looked up and I was like, shut your mouth.
(20:24):
Tulsa King's coming back.
Hell yes.
That is my like it's phenomenal.
If you like the old stylegangster movies and shows and
everything like that, you willabsolutely love the Tulsa King
because that's all it is.
It's a it's an old schoolgangster movie, just buy the
book, and you you can you canalmost pred, I don't want to say
(20:48):
you can almost predict what'sgonna happen, but you can
predict what's gonna happen ifyou're you you like that genre
of those old timey gangstermovies and TV shows.
But uh Cole, what about you,Tulsa King?
Please tell me you've watchedit.
Please tell me you've watchedit.
I can't go I can't go over twowith this question what's going
on too.
SPEAKER_04 (21:06):
I know, and Johnny
was uh was telling me that I
have to watch it as well.
So this you're not the firstperson to give me a hard time
about it.
I just haven't.
There's so many shows nowadays.
Well, there's always been a lotof shows, but it just feels like
it they pile up, and I haven'tgotten into that one yet.
I got to.
SPEAKER_01 (21:22):
I'm so glad there's
only four of us on this.
I'm gonna flip the desk here.
Thank you, Johnny, because Iknow you've watched it because
like I'm about I'm about to flipout that nobody's on this
freaking show as watched theTulsa King.
But save us, Freddie.
Save us.
SPEAKER_00 (21:36):
No, I I I love the
Tulsa King.
I think it's it's hilarious.
Um, you know, the Dwight, youknow, man Freddie, the general
they call him in there.
Um, you know, he gets out ofprison after like 25 years for
like murder, and you know, he hegoes to to Tulsa and he like he
makes his own like Italian mafiawith no other Italian people
(21:57):
until a little bit later on.
So um it's the damn villagepeople he's right, and and and
it's so funny because I wasthinking they the underboss
before he became the underboss, when he was with that other
family, he was like, you know, Igo out to Tulson and I and I see
the white.
He goes, and he got like hisposse like the village people.
He goes, you know, Indian, he'sgot this guy, he's got a
(22:19):
construction worker, like andit's like so funny because his
posse is like you know, the thatthat young kid who's like his
driver, you have like the theNative Americans, uh, you have
the people who are selling weedin the stores, like you have
like gangsters, you havecowboys, like it's his whole
posse.
Um, it's just hilarious.
(22:40):
You have like wet, you know, hehas women in it, and it's just
so so funny the people hesurrounds himself with in that
show.
But no, it's a great show forpeople to want to check out.
Highly recommend it.
I I think it's probably one ofStallone's better acting jobs as
well, because I think whenyou're a movie actor, it's
(23:01):
really hard to translate goinginto like shows, right?
And especially multiple seasonsof that.
Um, but he's he's done itflawlessly.
Um, so I give him a lot ofrespect, but Tulsa King's an
incredible, incredible show.
SPEAKER_01 (23:15):
I'll give you that,
just the acting alone for from
Stallone in that, because goingfrom movies where you're you
know you're learning these linesfor just this one thing to
learning a whole script for a TVseries, you know, that that
that's difficult in and ofitself because there's not a lot
of people that you see insitcoms that you're seeing a lot
(23:36):
in in movies and in big screen.
There's kind of you have youryour two paths I've seen kind of
from what I've just picked upon, you know, knowing a little
bit about the entertainmentindustry.
You know, you have your sitcomactors and you have your movie
actors, and it's which lane doyou want to go?
And Stallone's been able tocross that barrier, I think,
with that that show and theTulsa King.
(23:57):
And it's it's a phenomenal show.
And JJ, I'm gonna hold you tothis by the next time you're on
the show because you're afrequent guest here and a
frequent flyer of the ride homerants.
If you haven't at least watchedone, I'll give you one episode
the next time you're on it.
You got at least watch oneepisode.
SPEAKER_02 (24:13):
See, I know what's
gonna happen.
I'm gonna watch one episode, then I'm just gonna binge it
all.
SPEAKER_01 (24:17):
That's why I said
one episode.
Because once you get to thefirst one in the pilot, you're
gonna be hooked, and then you'regonna watch the whole series,
and then we're just gonna beable to talk about it finally.
So that's right, that's whatthat's exactly what's gonna
happen.
You know my plan flawlesslythere, JJ.
I'm so glad you picked up onthat.
But um uh, but you uh, wheredoes Stallone rank just based on
(24:39):
his action movies?
We kind of talked about this ina little bit, but I want to dive
into just his action movies.
Uh, where does he rank all thetime?
SPEAKER_00 (24:45):
Yeah, I think if you
look at his pure action movies,
now I'm not gonna count Rockybecause that's that's more of
like a love story, drama, sports, right?
But if you look at like theexpendables, you really look at
Rambo, Demolition Man, TheSpecialist, Cliffhanger, Um,
Copland, you know, I'm I'm sureJudge Dredd.
(25:05):
You know, I I would say, I mean,he he definitely is top three.
I the only reason I probablywouldn't put him as top one is
because I think Jason Stathamhas really taken that over
because Jason Statham has playednothing but like in action
fighting movies um his wholecareer.
He has, I think, a more specificgenre to being an action hero.
(25:30):
Um, you know, you could make theargument for Schwarzenegger too,
right?
I mean, he has a Terminatorseries which has really
transcended time as well, andsome of the other things he did.
I just actually watched Conanthe destroyer uh the other day
about about Schwarzenegger.
So you know, I I would say he'she's not one.
(25:50):
I think that Jason Statham isthe king of action movies from
here on out, but he he'sdefinitely I would probably say
three, just because I think it'sreally hard.
I don't think anybody picks theseries Rambo over the Terminator
as a better series, in myopinion.
Um, so that's why I gotta sayhe's probably three, but I think
he's he's above Chuck Norris.
(26:11):
Um, he's above Steven Segal, anyof those.
I'm gonna say he's three.
SPEAKER_01 (26:17):
So you're just gonna
end on that bold statement right
there.
Above the Chuck Norris.
Oh wow.
Holy shit.
I need to, I need to die.
Cole, go go on.
I need to I need to think aboutthat for a second.
SPEAKER_04 (26:30):
Well, I think I
think Schwarzenegger's number
one.
That might be a tough sell herein this group, but I do think
that when it comes to actionheroes and movies, he's he's the
ultimate.
I do think that like those twohad a great rivalry, especially
in the 80s.
There were a lot of just likegreat movies by both actors.
Um, but yeah, I I do put himabove, you know, again, I think
(26:53):
people are gonna disagree.
I think he's above Van Damme, Ido think he's above Norris, I
think he's above Bruce Willis,uh, you know, even Jackie Chan,
if you want to throw him inthere.
So it's like I think that uh Ithink Stallone and
Schwarzenegger are like one andtwo in my in my eyes.
Those are my two guys.
Holy shit.
SPEAKER_01 (27:11):
Uh JJ, there's so
much to digest on this question.
SPEAKER_02 (27:16):
I mean uh Rambo.
I mean, I I'll put him maybelike fourth, maybe like number
four.
I mean, I got Schwarzeneggerover him, I got Van Damme over
him, stay uh Jason Statham.
I mean, yeah, fourth is poundsabout good, maybe even fifth.
(27:39):
I'm probably forgetting somebodyright now, but he he he's he's
he's he's top five, but there'sa few people above him, I think.
Five five's a hard sell for me.
SPEAKER_01 (27:48):
That that's that's a
that's a hard selling.
SPEAKER_02 (27:51):
I mean, there's
there's so many.
I can't even I'll be Van Damme.
SPEAKER_01 (27:55):
Like come on.
Like he's above Van Damme.
SPEAKER_02 (27:59):
I'll give him I
mean, man, man, blood sport,
come on, man.
SPEAKER_01 (28:03):
Come on, because
like that's just above uh no, I
don't I don't believe JackieChanson stunts Jackie Chance.
I'll I'll Jackie Chance is a isa coin flip for me with him and
Stallone.
Yeah, I'll I'll give you thatone.
Norris, I mean nobody beatsChuck Norris.
I mean, we all heard all thejokes Chuck Norris jokes, but
(28:23):
like I mean, five.
I mean, I got state them.
State them, I mean, right now, Imean state them, nobody's
touching him is number one, nobody's touching him.
Um, but you know, it I think atthat two three, you know, I got
I got Stallone at two, and I gotSchwarzenegger at three, um,
right now, you know, witheverything that's going on and
(28:45):
everything like that, you know, but you know, and just the the
sheer historic of the movies, but the five, JJ?
SPEAKER_02 (28:51):
Man, yeah.
Um I mean, we can throw uh thepeople's champ up in there, too.
If you throw the rock abovestallone, I'm fighting you back.
SPEAKER_01 (29:01):
If you throw Dwayne
Johnson above stallone, I'm
coming through this computer atyou, JJ.
SPEAKER_02 (29:07):
I will find you.
I mean, none of you guys seenBlack Adam, the masterpiece.
No, that was a good movie.
SPEAKER_00 (29:13):
I'll give you
credit.
That was a good movie, but Ithink here's the thing I think
like Dwayne Johnson has tocontinue on that trend.
Time out Stallone was an actionhero in the 80s, the 90s, the
2000s, the 2010s.
You know, I he just got him onlongevity, right?
You know, I think I thinkStallone's 79 now, and what's
(29:33):
you know, what's Dwayne Johnsonlike 52, 53?
You know, so he got another 20years to try to catch him.
SPEAKER_02 (29:39):
No, so Stallone's
way ahead of uh the rock right
now.
Okay, I'll make you.
Yeah, it's it's not it's notclose.
You know, I just had to saysomething.
SPEAKER_01 (29:48):
I'll say JJ, I was
literally about to just kick you
out of this damn group, and itwas just gonna be Cole and
Finney for the rest of thisshow.
SPEAKER_02 (29:55):
It's all
disconnected.
Yeah, oh sorry, yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (29:57):
We lost JJ some
technical difficulties.
I don't know what the hellhappened.
Uh, but yeah, just uh yeah.
Wow, we almost had we all thatwe almost just stopped the show
right there.
For me and JJ to just hash thatout.
That question, I did not thinkthat question was gonna escalate
as quickly as it did as thisone.
This is this is kind of acontroversial thing.
So JJ, let's stay with you.
(30:18):
Okay.
Um, what what do you think ofall the plastic surgery he's had
over the time, over the years?
SPEAKER_02 (30:24):
Um tweets their own.
Um I I'm not I'm not really bigon all the plastic surgery and
stuff, but he he's not theworst-looking guy who's had the
plastic surgery.
A lot of people look a lotworse, so he doesn't look too
different from how he originallylooked.
So, I mean, if he lo if he likesit, I love it.
SPEAKER_01 (30:43):
I get it.
I mean, actors and actresses aregonna do it just so they can
stay on screen longer.
I get it.
Yeah, to prolong their career.
It's kind of a necessity.
Yep, thank you, Pitty.
Wow, that word did not want tocome out of my mouth at all.
SPEAKER_02 (30:59):
I mean, he's about
80 years old, so I mean right.
SPEAKER_01 (31:01):
And he looks good
for 80.
SPEAKER_02 (31:03):
Yeah, I mean, I
mean, he looks real good, real
good for 80.
SPEAKER_01 (31:06):
So can't say that.
SPEAKER_02 (31:08):
Money, money can do
for you.
SPEAKER_01 (31:11):
Right.
Uh I would I would have thishairline running away from me if
I had this kind of money.
That's what that's what it iswhat it is.
Uh, there's a reason I wear ahat on the show, uh, ladies and
gentlemen, is not only tosupport all the great sponsors
of the show, but it's becausethis hairline is just tragic.
Um, but go what about you?
SPEAKER_04 (31:28):
You'd have to take
uh Turkish hairlines on a
Turkish hairline.
SPEAKER_01 (31:32):
Stop the Turkish
hairline.
God damn it, I set myself upwith that as a comedian.
I should know better.
SPEAKER_04 (31:37):
No, I think that uh,
you know, I I don't really care.
Movie stars are vain, right?
Like they gotta look a certainway or they think they do,
especially guys that built theircareer off to the off their you
know, physique and their looks.
Like uh it's kind of I guess anecessity for these guys, like
you said.
So, you know, I don't reallycare.
Uh it doesn't bother me.
(31:57):
It's just funny when you seethem talk sometimes and they
have like no emotion, it's justtheir their face just doesn't
move.
Um but you know, again, likelike JJ said, teach their own,
whatever, you know, whatever hewants to do with his with his
body, he can do it.
Right.
SPEAKER_01 (32:12):
Yeah, the fitty,
where you at on this one, you
know.
SPEAKER_00 (32:15):
Like, I mean, to the
point, yeah.
I mean, it whatever anybodywants to do, but I actually will
tell you this though.
So his eyebrows are actuallyfake.
Um, he has them drawn on becauseduring all his action scenes and
the makeup and all that stuffover time, he actually lost all
his eyebrows.
So he actually has no eyebrows.
So that's that's a that's a truefact about him.
(32:36):
But I think the thing is, youknow, uh he could have, I think
if you look at like Stallone andJudge Dredd, Demolition Man,
Copland, you know, thespecialist, like the dude was a
stud, right?
And I think if he would havejust aged naturally, he wouldn't
look maybe as plasticky as he isnow.
(32:57):
I mean, if you look at guys thathave aged naturally, like Sean
Connery did it, and um, youknow, uh uh George Clooney's
done it, and things like that.
So I don't know if he nest thedude necessarily needed it
because I mean I think he justwould have aged to just being a
uh you know an old man and wouldhave been fine, but you know,
whatever he wants to do.
But yeah, his eyebrows areactually like fake, they're
(33:18):
drawn on because he he's lostthem.
SPEAKER_01 (33:20):
That's hysterical
that he he's he's lost his
eyebrows.
I didn't know that.
That's that's I learnedsomething today with the show.
SPEAKER_04 (33:27):
Um, but yeah, he
injured himself like a bunch of
times during Rambo.
I think he injured himself likefour or five times during Rambo
and like burned himself.
He did all sorts of crazy stufffor that.
SPEAKER_01 (33:38):
I don't know how you
don't injure yourself if you're
doing your own stunts beggingRambo.
You know what I mean?
Like it's like you're gonna gethurt like that if you do this,
like so.
I mean, it it it is what it is,and to each their own.
But I'm kind of with you guys.
If you want to do the plasticsurgeries, and by all means, do
it.
I'm not gonna say one way or theother that you should or you
(33:58):
shouldn't do it.
Um however, um, I don't know whymen stop the aging process, you
know.
Like I make the joke about myhairline running away, it's it's
part of the aging process.
My wife looks at me and she'slike, and she finds another gray
hair in my beard, and she'slike, Are you gonna you gonna do
anything about that?
Absolutely not.
Why would I stop the aging proit's gonna happen regardless of
(34:21):
what I do?
So, like, why stop that?
You know, but teach your own.
I understand, you know, movieactors and actresses they have
to they have to they think theyhave to look at a certain way to
to continue acting and you knowit's part of the uh necessary
evil is what the where when umuh the words wouldn't want to
come out of my mouth is is whatI was looking forward to as
(34:41):
well.
SPEAKER_04 (34:41):
Uh but fitting uh
did you know I'm sure you did uh
uh Stallone got down to like 2.8percent body fat uh for Rocky
III uh this is almost uh youknow unheard of for anybody uh
even pro athletes you know it'skind of dangerous what do you
think of that yeah yeah so ifyou look if you watch Rocky III
(35:03):
closely I mean that that is likefreakishly weird of how shredded
like he was and if you read backon that he like ate nothing but
chicken and rice and drank uhblack coffee to shed that weight
to get down now I'll give theguy credit right because the
average person couldn't do thatum I mean and then let alone
(35:27):
like a movie actor and thededication to do that I mean
it's it was crazy but it wasfreakishly weird and then if you
look at Rocky four I think hewas like up to five point two
percent body fat but you know wewe all have played sports you
know I know JJ's huge intofitness too and stuff and that
that's actually pretty dangerousthough to get that low because
(35:49):
you're talking the best athletesin the world don't get like that
let alone you know an actor soum I mean I give the guy credit
for the dedication to do it butI think it's foolish for anyone
to try to do that thousandpercent on the you know anybody
getting down to two point eightpercent body fat it's just it's
it's uh we'll we'll get to JJwho's at the fitness here last
(36:09):
to kind of to talk about that umand as you can hear my cat
doesn't agree with that eitherwho's just literally in the
background like what like JesusChrist uh but Cole what about
you I mean that's wild I didn'tknow he got that low I mean he
was shredded in that movie uhbut like that's that's just
crazy to me that anybody woulddo that if like I've never been
(36:32):
below 15 in my entire life sothinking even below five percent
that's that's insane so yeah Ijust I think that's dangerous
and probably wasn't like uhwhat's the realistically uh
physiology or whatever the thesciences behind bodies uh I'm
sure they weren't like real upon that sort of thing quite yet
(36:55):
knowing how dangerous that wasbut I can't imagine anybody was
okay with him doing that on theinsurance side for the movies um
it just sounds so stupid to meyeah JJ as you know a resident
fitness guy uh on this panelhere and and everything like
that what do you what do youthink of this?
SPEAKER_01 (37:14):
Yeah that's that's I
never knew that's crazy like I'm
surprised he was even able tolike to function at all because
that's like dangerously low andum I mean only eating chicken
and rice drinking black coffee Imean he couldn't I don't know I
I mean that's that's I meankudos to him because that takes
a lot of hard work and like uhhe had to be just starving all
(37:38):
the time I mean I I mean he hadto be pretty irritable shooting
the movies because that's thatthat's that's tough man I
couldn't I could never do that Imean kudos to him but some of
the argument scenes wereprobably just him being hungry
like you know like I meanhonestly I'm probably ad-libbed
like that he's probably tired hehad to be tired he had to
(38:00):
probably push through workoutswith like no energy I mean yeah
that's that's probably well Ithink where was he get where was
he getting his vitamins from manlike yeah you know like you need
greens you know how do you notget scurvy doing that this is
crazy to me I think at like thethe peak of my athleticism and
swimming in that I was stillonly down to like a six percent
(38:23):
at the at the lowest body fatthat I was and that was me
swimming seven miles a day at atpractices and shit like that
that's 2.8 is just the yeahalmost sounds made up yeah it's
it's like it's like I've neverheard that's crazy that's yeah I
mean for him for being able todo it but I will tell you this
(38:43):
too if you read more into thatand and I and I don't know like
the physiology behind it.
Like I you know I I knowweightlifting science and stuff
like that but something with hisbody happened that because he
was so low his blood wasn'tpumping the right way so he used
to have to and this was honesttruth stand like stand on his
(39:04):
head to get blood rushing backthrough his body to like get
into his brain and circulateback down he used to stop the
movies and like literally dohandstands and headstands to get
the blood circulating back inhis body something about the
veins narrowed like greatlybecause he wasn't also drinking
water I don't know it wassomething wild it's just stupid
(39:28):
like that's just if you if youhave to do that like is it worth
it you know what I mean youcould be and look shredded with
a five percent body fat I'm notto the level he did in Rocky III
which I get for the the one toget that look but like yeah
that's just uh it's crazy tothink that but I mean I mean it
(39:48):
was a drastic change from likeRocky two to three or four I
mean his body change was justcrazy.
Oh he really he really like hitit hard yeah well and I think
too if you look uh I think thiswas when he did the specialist I
think in 94 his you have to lookat the picture because his waist
(40:10):
was so narrow I he was wearinglike a size 28 jeans in the
waist wow I don't think I'veever won a 28 in my life no I
never wore a 28 and I was 165pounds in college and I never I
never wore 22 like a 30 I wasthat's right I was like I was
(40:30):
like 160 165 pounds and I'venever wanted 28 yeah I I I
graduated high school at 155pounds and I still had a 32
waist you know what I mean likethat's 28 waist that's probably
the waist of my thigh right nowyeah dude like that wouldn't fit
over my calf right now 28 waistwith that with how my wife has
(40:52):
fattened me up in the past 10years we've been together like
that's just insane to me but uhfinny we're gonna we're gonna
end the show here with this lastquestion here and it is is the
phrase yo adrian we did it inRocky II the greatest movie line
ever um it it arguably could beum because I think even if
(41:16):
you've never seen Rocky um youknow that you know and that's
like a very emotionally chargedscene at the end of Rocky II you
know he just fought his biggestrival they you know connected
you know Apollo put his arm upin the air and you know said
besides my son being born thisis the greatest you know moment
of my whole life and one thing Iwant to say to my wife you know
(41:37):
Adrian we did it I thinkeverybody knows that um and you
know then in Rocky six to say atthe end of that yo Adrian we did
it um I I would say it probablyhas to be out there is probably
one of the best one-liners orphrases probably in in cinema
history yeah okay Cole whatabout you I I mean yo Adrian in
(42:03):
general is probably some of theI mean it's probably most quoted
of any you know action movie orsports movie.
Um yeah I think just yo Adrianin general especially from the
first one um is just like such amemorable line so yeah I I agree
like I think in action moviesthat's gotta be one of the the
top ever yeah okay JJ let's getto your thoughts before I get
(42:27):
into mine um yeah it'sdefinitely one of the the top
lines I mean even if you'venever seen the movie you know
you know that line I mean it'skind of just like uh what's that
uh I'm back in the Terminatorfranchise I'll be back or
whatever that is and that typeof stuff so it's like them lines
they just stick with you ifyou've seen the movie never seen
(42:48):
it I mean pop culture is justidolizing type of things I I I
would argue the fact that it isthe greatest movie line ever and
it's because anybody who does astallone impression or
impersonation the first thingthey go to is a yoja we didn't
(43:09):
the first thing that comes outof their mouth is yours like
that's the first anybody whodoes a stallone impression it it
that's the first thing thatcomes out of their mouth I would
put it up there and like youtouched on it there JJ and then
I'll be back in that and evengoing as far as you know I'm
Batman like that's the likethose type of lines I think that
(43:33):
like that line there andespecially for the Rocky
franchise to bring it back waylater on into into Rocky 6 and
everything like that you know itit's it's it's it's a it's
iconic and I would put it upthere as one of the greatest for
the reason that no matter whatthe impressionist is the first
words out of their mouth is yohey Jen we did it like that's
(43:55):
that that's it and that that'smy thought on that well bono if
you remember if you rememberback to to my wedding speech do
you remember what I said at theend of it oh no oh yeah I I it
didn't connect with me and soyou just said that like I just
you know I I said I made aspeech at the end of my wedding
(44:17):
and I was you know thanking myin-laws and my parents and all
the people that helped andsupported us and our bridal
party and then I I said to youknow to my wife I said and I can
finally say yo Cassie we did itwe did it and has you know had
everybody had everybody dialafter who who knew me who knew
(44:37):
how much Rocky meant to me youknow when I when I said that so
it was it was I think it waspretty comical.
I can't believe I didn't pick upon that to be a thousand percent
honest with you I'm mad atmyself um the the yo Cassie we
did it I can't believe that itdidn't register with me to you
just said that we were talkingabout this now like I I hate
(44:57):
myself for that uh to be honestwith you as a comedian like
that's that's prime comedy goldand a and a huge callback to
anything and especially youbeing the Rocky fan and Stallone
fan that you are uh for sure umyeah I'm I'm mad at myself for
that so we're gonna end the showwith me just being mad at myself
here and but that was that'sthat's all the questions I had
(45:20):
though but for everybody herethis was a lot of fun getting to
talk uh about Stallone JJ JJ forokay we'll we'll talk about this
because anybody who knows theshow and listens to the show JJ
I'm pretty sure now at thispoint in time just comes on here
to try to upset me with some ofthe stuff that he says um
(45:42):
because he knows how like he'ssuch a such a big contributor to
the show and and we love JJ herea lot but like I'm pretty sure
now your main goal is like howcan I upset Bono in this show
something that we're talkingabout I gotta get you going.
I gotta get you going you do youdo and I appreciate it so much
more than you know JJ but thatis actually going to do it for
(46:04):
this week's every episode of theRide Home Brands podcast I want
to thank pretty cole not JJ umand everybody on the show and
everyone for listening to theshow.
As always if you enjoyed theshow be a friend tell a friend
if you didn't tell them anywaysthey might like it just because
you didn't that's gonna do itfor me and I will see y'all next
(46:24):
week
